Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

January 27, 2026

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp is the perfect combination of smoky, savory, and sweet, creating a bite-sized appetizer that’s as impressive as it is delicious. With the crispy saltiness of bacon complementing the tender, succulent shrimp, this dish has become a favorite at parties, holiday gatherings, and casual dinners alike. Its ease of preparation and bold flavors make it a crowd-pleaser every time.

The key to perfect bacon-wrapped shrimp is balance. Choose large, fresh shrimp and opt for thin-cut bacon so it crisps up quickly without overcooking the shrimp. A simple seasoning of garlic, paprika, or a touch of cayenne can elevate the flavors, while a drizzle of honey or maple syrup adds a subtle sweetness that contrasts beautifully with the smoky bacon. For extra flavor, some recipes call for brushing the shrimp with a light marinade before wrapping, enhancing both taste and juiciness.

Preparation is simple but requires attention to detail. Each shrimp is individually wrapped with a strip of bacon and secured with a toothpick to prevent unraveling during cooking. The shrimp can be baked in the oven, grilled, or pan-seared, depending on your preference. Baking offers convenience and ensures even cooking, while grilling adds a smoky char that intensifies the flavor. The result is a dish that is perfectly caramelized on the outside while tender and juicy on the inside.

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp is versatile and pairs well with a variety of sides and sauces. A fresh citrus aioli, spicy sriracha mayo, or classic cocktail sauce can elevate the dish, making it ideal for entertaining. For a complete meal, serve alongside a crisp Iceberg lettuce salad, roasted vegetables, or a light pasta dish.

Not only is this appetizer flavorful, but it also makes a visually striking presentation. The golden, crispy bacon encasing plump pink shrimp is instantly appealing and often disappears from the plate quickly. Whether served at a casual barbecue or a formal dinner, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp is a surefire way to impress guests with minimal effort.

This dish proves that sometimes the simplest ingredients, when combined thoughtfully, create the most unforgettable flavors. Bacon Wrapped Shrimp is indulgent, satisfying, and undeniably delicious, making it a must-try for seafood and bacon lovers alike.

I used frozen shrimp and it turned out fine. Just gotta adjust baking time! Cheap and tasty!

    1. User avatar jared.crona2020 says:

      3 stars
Frozen shrimp? Really? I always thought fresh was the way to go. Are you sure it tasted good?

    2. 5 stars
I usually use fresh shrimp, but if frozen works for you, that’s great! Saving money is always a win! 🙌

  2. 3 stars
Why do we need olive oil? Isn’t bacon already super oily? 🤔

  3. 4 stars
I’m not convinced the toothpicks are necessary—mine kind of held together anyway. But the method is clear and it came out good.

  4. User avatar eugenio.kunze37 says:

Bacon wrapped shrimp? Sounds fancy but sooo easy! Tried it at my party, it was a hit!

  5. User avatar charlyn.sauer63 says:

Meh, I’ve had better. Shrimp was too chewy for me.

  6. User avatar hyman.schmidt39 says:

These are amazing! The bacon makes everything better. 😍

    1. User avatar lucius.kiehn1966 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! Bacon makes everything taste so much better, even shrimp! 🥓🦐

  7. User avatar herma.grant says:

Y’all, I tried this but the bacon was too greasy. Not a fan. 🤢

    1. User avatar Frodo Baggins says:

      4 stars
I actually thought the bacon added a great flavor! Maybe try using less bacon next time?

  8. User avatar raina.collier17 says:

    5 stars
The pepper amount felt perfect. I used freshly ground and it tasted like restaurant food. Toothpicks held fine.

  9. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about only 12-15 minutes. Mine were done at 15, but I had to keep an eye on the bacon so it didn’t burn.

    1. User avatar rich.landlord says:

      3 stars
Idk, 12-15 min feels kinda short for shrimp + bacon together. Mine took way longer than that and the bacon was still not crispy at first 😅 maybe my oven runs hot? Still tasty though.

    2. 5 stars
Totally hear you—bacon can go from perfect to burnt fast. I usually do closer to the 15-min mark too and check around 12. Love that you kept an eye on it!

  10. User avatar salena.cartwright55 says:

    4 stars
Yum! Perfect for game night. I added some garlic powder for extra flavor. Thanks for sharing!

  11. User avatar burton.schmitt31 says:

    3 stars
Kinda bland for me? The bacon is flavorful but I feel like it needed more seasoning—maybe garlic powder or a pinch of smoked paprika. Still good, just not mind-blowing.

  12. User avatar hugh.moore0 says:

    3 stars
Wow this is easy! But that’s a LOT of bacon. Shrimp is good with everything. Shrimp rocks!

  13. 2 stars
Didn’t really work for me. The bacon didn’t crisp up like in the picture. I think I did something wrong.

    1. 3 stars
I don’t know, it worked for me just fine. Sometimes you just gotta keep practicing! 😅

    2. 4 stars
Maybe your oven temp was off? I’ve had that happen too. Try using a broiler at the end for extra crisp!

  14. User avatar kym.collier says:

I don’t like shrimp. Can you do this with chicken instead? Would it be the same?

Bacon on shrimp? Seems kinda odd to me. Not sure about this mix.

    1. User avatar tula.lang99 says:

      4 stars
I thought the same at first, but it’s actually really good! The flavors complement each other surprisingly well.

  17. User avatar bryant.feest2011 says:

    2 stars
Disappointing. The shrimp was rubbery and the bacon fell off. Not worth the effort.

  18. User avatar Keena Bartoletti says:

    5 stars
So easy! I just butterflied the shrimp before wrapping. Loved it!

  19. User avatar Bowerick Wowbagger says:

These are so delicious! I made them for a party and everyone loved them. Will definitely make again!

  20. User avatar Arwen Evenstar says:

    1 star
Idk… 400°F seems high for shrimp, I ended up with rubbery bacon grease and chewy shrimp. Maybe my toothpicks burned too.

  21. 4 stars
I like bacon, but wrapping each shrimp with half a slice is kinda tedious. The result is worth it, just wish it was quicker.

    1. User avatar jessi.buckridge says:

      4 stars
Totally get you—wrapping shrimp one-by-one is a time sink. I did the same setup once and it was delicious, but wow. Next time I’m gonna try prepping everything in batches so I’m not stuck toothpicking forever.

    2. User avatar cindi.oconnell says:

      2 stars
Why not just cook the shrimp first then throw bacon on top? Seems less work. I mean, bacon will still crisp. 400°F is good though. 🤷

  22. User avatar Daedric Prince says:

    5 stars
These are delicious! I made them for a party and everyone loved them! 😍

  24. User avatar chong.oreilly28 says:

    3 stars
This was alright. Shrimp was okay but bacon kinda burnt, maybe I cooked too long? 3 stars.

    1. User avatar evangeline.von13 says:

I totally get that! Bacon can be tricky. Maybe try a shorter cook time next time? They still look yummy though!

  25. User avatar Daedric Prince says:

    3 stars
Isn’t baking shrimp bad? I thought you could only grill or fry them. Not sure about this.

  26. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    3 stars
I tried it, but my bacon didn’t get crispy. Maybe my oven sucks? Idk. Still tasty though.

    1. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

      4 stars
Maybe try using a higher rack? That helps the heat circulate better. Glad it was tasty though!

  27. User avatar paul.hegmann1998 says:

    4 stars
Good flavor, but 400°F feels a tad high for the thickness of my bacon. I had to bake closer to 10 minutes or it browned too much.

  28. User avatar jacinta.conroy10 says:

    1 star
I think this is a horrible recipe. Shrimp and bacon doesn’t mix, who thought of that?

  29. 3 stars
I followed it exactly and they were tasty, but the bacon didn’t get as crispy as I wanted. Next time I’ll try broiling for the last minute.

  30. User avatar lizbeth.lockman78 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get what the fuss about bacon is. Just seems like too much for shrimps. 2 stars.

  31. 4 stars
Pretty good but I’m not sure about “devained” shrimp—mine were already cleaned so I skipped that step and honestly it was fine. Would recommend.

    1. User avatar Denyse Goyette says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—if your shrimp are already deveined, you’re good to go. I’ve done the same and they still come out great. Appreciate the tip!

    2. User avatar shakita.stokes79 says:

      4 stars
I gotta say I didn’t even know shrimp needed to be “devained” sometimes 😅 Mine were cleaned too, so I just wrapped and baked. Worked for me, but next time I might add a little garlic or something.

  32. User avatar keenan.parisian1969 says:

    3 stars
I forgot parchment paper and they stuck a little. Flavor was fine but cleanup was annoying. Still, easy quick snack!

  33. 4 stars
Easy to make! Just wish I had more bacon. Who can ever have enough bacon? Lol.

    1. User avatar jarod.carter says:

      5 stars
Bacon makes everything better! You can never have too much bacon, right? Just add more next time!

    2. User avatar wildebeest says:

      3 stars
Lol, I thought the same thing! But can you really handle that much bacon? Might turn into a bacon monster!

  34. User avatar britta.beer65 says:

    4 stars
I didn’t have shrimp, so I used chicken instead. Still went well! But not as good as shrimp, I guess.

  35. User avatar mathWizard says:

    5 stars
Bacon. Shrimp. What more do you need??? Simple and yummy! 10/10!

  36. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The bacon adds such a great flavor to the shrimp. A must-try!

  37. User avatar Sarah Bellum says:

    5 stars
Easy to follow and fast. I was skeptical about 12 minutes, but the shrimp were perfectly cooked at 14. Would absolutely make again.

  38. User avatar gregorio.howe2015 says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and somehow my bacon shrunk weird and the shrimp overcooked. Maybe my shrimp were smaller? Annoying but tasty anyway.

  39. User avatar phyliss.thompson73 says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and the bacon wasn’t crispy for me—more like chewy. I think my oven runs cool. Maybe broil for the last minute?

  40. User avatar henry.quitzon says:

    5 stars
Made these for dinner and they came out perfectly crispy. The timing (12–15 min) was spot on for my oven. Super easy and fancy-looking.

    1. User avatar bettye.brown says:

      5 stars
Love hearing that! Crispy bacon + juicy shrimp is the best combo. I’m also glad the 12–15 min worked in your oven—mine runs a little hot so I usually go closer to 12. Thanks for sharing!

  41. User avatar patrick.douglas1961 says:

    4 stars
Mine turned out a little too salty because my bacon was already seasoned, but the peppery finish was still nice. Next time I’ll use plain bacon.

  42. User avatar aleen.friesen33 says:

    2 stars
Shrimp cooked through fine, but the bacon was a little salty for my taste. Might reduce the pepper/oil next time and go lighter on seasoning.

    1. User avatar colby.ward says:

      3 stars
Maybe you used super salty bacon? I dunno. Mine comes out fine, but I also add a little garlic salt, so it might be too much for some. Could try lowering the cook time too so the bacon doesnt dry out and get saltier.

    2. User avatar robbi.swift says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—bacon can be super salty on its own. I usually cut back the pepper (or even skip the extra oil brushing) and it turns out way more balanced. Next time try a quick taste before baking too.

  43. User avatar edmond.baumbach79 says:

    5 stars
Made these for a quick appetizer and they were gone in minutes. The bacon got nice and crisp and the shrimp stayed juicy. I brushed a little extra oil—probably not needed, but yum.

  44. 5 stars
Yum! I used jumbo shrimp and they still worked, just baked maybe 2-3 minutes longer. Pepper on top is a nice touch.

  45. User avatar Marissa Kreiger V says:

    5 stars
Made these tonight—super easy and the bacon got perfectly crispy. The 12-15 minutes range was spot on for my oven.

  46. User avatar tuyet.thompson1992 says:

    5 stars
Low effort, big wow. Also, parchment paper saved me from a greasy mess. Served with lemon and it was even better.

    1. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz says:

      3 stars
i tried this but my bacon didn’t get crispy. maybe my shrimp were too wet? i did the lemon part too tho and it helped a lot.

    2. User avatar lester.lebsack79 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—400°F for 12-15 mins is such a sweet spot. I always forget parchment and then regret it 😅

  47. User avatar Blitzcrank says:

    3 stars
Shrimp cooks fast so I’m always worried—mine were slightly overdone (rubbery). I’d check at 10–12 minutes next time.

  48. User avatar Falmer Warmonger says:

    3 stars
Why do people always use toothpicks lol they come out kinda messy. I used skewers instead and it worked. Flavor was great, but getting the bacon to stay wrapped took some fiddling.

    1. User avatar augustine.walsh0 says:

      3 stars
Huh I always just poke it and it’s fine. Maybe you used bigger shrimp? Also parchment helps a ton so bacon doesn’t stick. I’d still keep toothpicks though, skewers can drip bacon all over (unless you line it good).

    2. User avatar guillermo.barrows says:

      5 stars
Yeah, toothpicks are a little hit-or-miss 😅 I’ve had them slip too. Skewers actually make a lot more sense—fewer “messy” bacon edges. Flavor though? Totally agree it’s hard to beat.

  49. User avatar bryan.schuppe1997 says:

    5 stars
Okay this is dangerously good. The pepper on top makes it taste way more “restaurant-y” than I expected.

  50. User avatar erich.wilkinson says:

    4 stars
400°F is the sweet spot. I baked mine closer to 14 minutes and the shrimp stayed juicy. Next time I might add a little garlic powder just because.

    1. User avatar kenny.predovic1980 says:

      5 stars
400°F really does seem to be the sweet spot. I did 13 minutes and mine came out juicy too—bacon was crisp without drying the shrimp. Garlic powder sounds like a great upgrade!

    2. 3 stars
I’m not sure about baking that long—my shrimp got kinda rubbery at 15 min. Maybe I had them too thick or my oven runs hot? I’d try 12 and watch the bacon color. Also, do you still use olive oil if you’re already brushing bacon? 😅

  51. User avatar wilburn.lehner says:

    4 stars
Pretty straightforward, and the pepper really makes it pop. I used thick-cut bacon (oops, slightly longer bake time) but still delicious.

  52. User avatar ai.mcglynn68 says:

    4 stars
Followed the recipe exactly but my bacon got a bit too dark at the high end of the range. Next time I’ll pull them at 12 minutes.

  53. 2 stars
Bacon was crispy but shrimp got a bit dry—probably cooked too long. Maybe pull them at 10-12 min instead of 15?

  54. User avatar piedad.adams4 says:

    3 stars
400°F seems too high to me… I turned it down to 375 and it took longer. Not bad, just different texture—still ate it all.

    1. User avatar kelly.buckridge37 says:

      4 stars
400°F always sounded hot for shrimp to me too—375 makes sense. What texture did you notice (more tender vs firmer)? Glad it still turned out tasty!

    2. User avatar delaine.leuschke says:

      3 stars
hmm i always follow the directions but if bacon was getting crispy at 375 i guess it’s not a big problem. 12-15 min feels short tho… i’d go by “shrimp cooked” not the timer lol. 😅

  55. User avatar kathaleen.harris62 says:

    4 stars
I’m not gonna lie, I was worried the shrimp would overcook. But 12-15 minutes was perfect—tender, not rubbery. Fresh pepper on top is the move.

    1. User avatar lavon.turner1977 says:

      5 stars
Same here—I was bracing for rubber shrimp 😂 But 12–15 min really nailed it. Bacon got nice and crispy too. Fresh pepper at the end is chef’s kiss.

  56. User avatar harley.pagac says:

    5 stars
Bacon + shrimp is always a win. These were gone fast. Would absolutely make again for parties.

    1. User avatar Grunthos the Flatulent says:

      5 stars
Seriously such a crowd-pleaser. I made these for a small get-together and they disappeared fast too—easy win with bacon + shrimp.

    2. User avatar Maureen Kassulke Sr. says:

      4 stars
Sounds good but my bacon never gets super crispy at 400… I think I need more time or broil at the end. Still, would try again!

  57. User avatar aurelia.carroll says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and mine didn’t crisp—like at all. Maybe my oven runs cool. The shrimp were fine but I was sad about the bacon texture. Would try again with a hotter oven.

    1. User avatar Barliman Butterbur says:

      5 stars
Ugh, I get it 😕. I’ve had the same issue when my oven runs a bit cool. Next time I’d try 425°F and also bake them on a preheated sheet (or use a wire rack on the baking sheet) so the bacon can actually crisp.

  58. User avatar salvador.gislason97 says:

    3 stars
I like the simplicity, but 400°F feels a little high for shrimp + bacon. I started at 12 min and they were already overdone. Next time I’ll go lower or pull earlier.

    1. User avatar anisha.heathcote says:

      3 stars
I think 12-15 is fine if your shrimp are bigger. Mine are always done around 15 and they’re not rubbery. 400°F makes the bacon crisp though… unless your oven runs hot. Did you use fresh shrimp or frozen? Frozen takes longer.

    2. 5 stars
Totally agree on 400°F being intense. Shrimp cooks fast and bacon can go from “just right” to “too crispy” super quick. I usually start checking at 8–10 min and pull them the second the bacon looks golden. Next batch try 375°F maybe?

  59. User avatar wyatt.daugherty3 says:

    4 stars
I tried to secure with toothpicks but my toothpicks kept falling out lol. I ended up using a skewer and it worked better.

  60. 3 stars
Tried it but mine came out kinda chewy. I think I underbaked by a couple minutes—next time I’ll go closer to 15.

    1. User avatar Lumberjack says:

      3 stars
Oof, chewy shrimp usually means it baked a touch too long (shrimp overcook fast), but underbaking could still affect the bacon texture. Next time I’d start checking around 10 minutes—bacon crisp + shrimp just opaque. Also let them cool 1-2 minutes max, not too long.

    2. User avatar twila.quigley58 says:

      4 stars
Mine came out chewy once too, but I think it was because the bacon wasn’t fully crisp yet. Try thicker bacon (or cut the strips a tiny thinner) and make sure the toothpick holds tight. Couple minutes can make a big difference at 400°F.

  61. User avatar parker.champlin1961 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, the toothpicks fell out on me. Still tasted good, but the presentation was a mess. Could use a sturdier method to secure.

  62. User avatar lora.bogan97 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but 12 minutes felt a little under for me—bacon wasn’t fully crispy until closer to 16. Still, flavor was solid.

  63. User avatar bok.nitzsche says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I thought the shrimp would taste more “shrimp-y.” The bacon flavor kinda took over. Would still eat again though.

  64. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

    2 stars
These were kinda tough—maybe I overbaked? I swear 15 minutes was too much. Next time I’ll check earlier.

  65. User avatar orville.tillman36 says:

    5 stars
These came out way better than I expected—crispy bacon edge + juicy shrimp. I did 14 minutes and it was perfect. Definitely making again!

  66. User avatar ardis.marvin2 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, I messed up and forgot to preheat… still ended up edible. Crisped up enough in the end though.

  67. User avatar Magrathean sperm whale says:

    3 stars
The instructions are simple, but I think you need a bit more oil—otherwise the pepper doesn’t stick as well. Still tasted good though.

    1. 4 stars
Good point! I usually do brush a little extra oil right before baking so the pepper grabs better. Glad it still tasted good though 🙂

  68. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

    5 stars
These were surprisingly good—bacon got super crisp and the shrimp stayed juicy. I brushed with a little extra oil and it worked great.

  69. User avatar quincy.glover74 says:

    5 stars
This is basically my new “lazy fancy” appetizer. I served with lemon wedges and it was gone fast.

    1. User avatar Margot Fenring says:

      5 stars
Love the “lazy fancy” vibe 😄 Lemon wedges sounds like a perfect bright touch for the salty bacon—going to try that next time. Mine usually disappear fast too!

    2. 3 stars
Hmm I made this once and the bacon got kinda chewy in the middle, maybe my shrimp were too big? 12-15 min felt short. Still tasted good though. Do you use small shrimp or thawed?

  70. 5 stars
    so good!!!
