Avocado Toast with a Patriotic Twist

June 23, 2025

Nothing says summer celebration quite like a dish that’s both festive and fresh, and patriotic avocado toast is the perfect way to kick off your 4th of July festivities. This colorful twist on a breakfast favorite brings together creamy avocado and juicy seasonal fruit in a red, white, and blue presentation that captures the spirit of Independence Day. It’s cheerful, light, and surprisingly satisfying – exactly the kind of snack or breakfast that feels right for a sunny holiday morning.

The creamy richness of avocado sets the stage for the vibrant toppings. Strawberries add a bright pop of red and a sweet-tart contrast, while blueberries bring in a juicy burst of flavor and a touch of patriotic blue. For the white, feta crumbles or a few ribbons of mozzarella balance the toast with a salty, creamy element that ties everything together. Each bite delivers a mix of creamy, fruity, and savory notes that feel indulgent yet refreshingly balanced.

What makes this dish special is how it captures the festive mood without being overly complicated. It’s a nod to the flag, a celebration of seasonal produce, and a healthy option in a day often filled with grilled meats and rich desserts. It’s also highly photogenic, making it a standout at any brunch table or casual gathering.

Patriotic avocado toast is a clever, delicious way to bring a little extra flair to your 4th of July morning. Whether shared with friends at a picnic or enjoyed solo with iced coffee in hand, it offers a playful and wholesome start to a day of celebration. With its bold colors and fresh flavors, this toast is a small but joyful way to honor red, white, and blue traditions – one slice at a time.

This patriotic avocado toast is a great option for anyone looking to serve something light and refreshing before a day of barbecues, parades, and fireworks. It’s quick to assemble, easy to customize, and sure to impress guests of all ages. I don’t understand why you’d put blueberries on toast… Isn’t that for pancakes? Couldn’t you just stick to the basics?

    1. User avatar Easton West says:

      2 stars
Blueberries on toast seems weird, yeah. But who knows? Maybe it’s a new trend or somthin’? Not for me tho.

    2. User avatar julian.schultz2012 says:

      4 stars
I get your point, but I think the blueberries add a nice sweetness to the toast! It’s different but tasty. 🤷‍♀️

  2. User avatar amalia.ryan says:

    4 stars

    1. User avatar noelia.willms says:

      2 stars
Brunch? I thought this was just breakfast. Anyway, looks weird with blueberries, but whatever floats your boat.

    2. 5 stars
That sounds delicious! I love how simple this is! Definitely trying it out this weekend. 🥑

  3. 5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The blueberries add such a fun twist to the traditional avocado toast. I’ll definitely make this for breakfast again.

  4. User avatar abe.schultz87 says:

    4 stars
Ugh, feta cheese? No way! I used cheddar and it was still yummy. 🤷‍♀️ Whatever works, right?

    1. 5 stars
Cheddar sounds good too! I might try it next time. No rules in cooking! 😄

  5. User avatar anthony.hilpert65 says:

    3 stars
This is just toast with some stuff on it. Where’s the real recipe? I thought there’d be more to it.

  6. User avatar clotilde.hoppe99 says:

    3 stars
Does anyone else think feta is overrated? I just didn’t like it on this. The toast was fine but could be better.

  7. User avatar tristan.medhurst1998 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but I thought it could use a lil more salt. Still delish tho! 👍

  8. User avatar archie.murphy says:

    1 star
Too healthy for me. I prefer my bacon and eggs 😂.

    1. 4 stars
Bacon and eggs are great, but have you tried this? It’s surprisingly good! 🍽️

  9. 5 stars
This recipe is super cute! I love the idea of adding blueberries! 🇺🇸🫐

  10. User avatar oswaldo.schowalter1979 says:

    2 stars
My kids refused to try it because they said the blueberries didn’t belong on toast 😒.

  11. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    2 stars
I dunno about that combination. Blueberries on toast? Sounds weird. I’ll stick to my eggs.

  12. User avatar Zaphod Beeblebrox says:

    4 stars
Tasty but I forgot the basil. Still good tho! 👍

  13. 4 stars
Made this for breakfast, and it was delicious! The feta with the avocado is heavenly. 🤤

    1. 5 stars
That sounds so good! I love feta and avocado too. Gonna try it out tomorrow!

    2. 2 stars
I mean, it looks nice and all, but I don’t think those flavors really go together…🤔

  14. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the blueberries on toast, but I tried it anyway. It’s actually refreshing. Patriotic plate in my kitchen? Yes please.

  15. User avatar kattie.lynch50 says:

    3 stars
I tried this recipe, but I think it needs something else. Maybe some hot sauce?

  16. User avatar wade.leffler77 says:

    3 stars
Honestly, the measurements are a bit vague (like 4-6 tomatoes). I eyeballed it and it turned out fine, but still.

  17. User avatar machelle.torphy says:

    2 stars
Not sure about putting blueberries on toast… it sounds like a dessert thing. I might try it once but I’m skeptical.

  18. User avatar rachael.boehm61 says:

    2 stars
Why would you put blueberries on toast? Strawberries are better!

  19. User avatar tyrone.schmeler66 says:

    4 stars
I thought this was gonna taste weird, but it’s actually pretty good. Who knew blueberries on toast? 👏👏⭐⭐⭐⭐

  20. User avatar Clarence Hilpert Jr. says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute idea! I love how you made it look patriotic. Perfect for the 4th of July!

  21. 5 stars
Yum! This is my new go-to breakfast! The feta and tomatoes are such a tasty combo. 💚

  22. User avatar loretta.kessler43 says:

    2 stars
The texture was strange. Why would you put blueberries on toast? Not a fan.

    1. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

      4 stars
I actually loved the blueberries on this. It adds a nice sweetness! But I get that not everyone likes it.

    2. User avatar rafael.beier says:

      2 stars
Blueberries? Really? That sounds gross. Who puts fruit on toast? 🙄

  23. User avatar shalanda.collins says:

    3 stars
Healthy and looks nice, but I fumbled making it. Bread burnt, tomatoes squished. Sad face.

    1. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

      4 stars
Don’t be too hard on yourself! It happens to the best of us. Next time, maybe try lowering the toast time a bit to avoid burning?

    2. User avatar dan.lindgren70 says:

      5 stars
Lol, I squished the tomatoes too! Just mash that avocado and call it a salad, amirite? 😂

  24. User avatar Samwise Gamgee says:

    2 stars
The blueberries were okay, but I thought they’d be sweeter—mine were kinda tart and threw me off a bit.

  25. User avatar vesta.roob40 says:

    3 stars
Only thing: 4-6 cherry tomatoes seems random. Like do I need 4 or 6? And I used way too much feta, oops. Still tasty though.

  26. User avatar ellan.swaniawski34 says:

    5 stars
Love the patriotic idea—blueberries on one side, basil on the other sounds fun and fresh. The feta + avocado combo is always a win.

  27. User avatar magali.crooks46 says:

    5 stars
Yummy! But why you calling it patriotic? Is this for the 4th of July? Just curious.

  28. User avatar Schule Donavitch says:

    4 stars
I tried something similar but I didn’t think to split the toppings like that. Turning one slice sweet-ish with blueberries and the other herbal with basil is such a fun idea.

    1. User avatar major.stamm78 says:

      5 stars
Love this! Splitting the toppings really makes it feel “patriotic” without doing anything complicated. I’ll have to try blueberries + basil next time—sounds unexpectedly good.

  29. User avatar chantell.lakin says:

    4 stars
Easy to make! I added some garlic powder to my avocado mix. Delicious! 😍

  30. 2 stars
I don’t know about mixing blueberries with avocado. Seems weird to me. Thumbs down! 👎

  31. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

    3 stars
The amount of feta felt a little random (1/4 cup is kinda specific yet also not enough for my appetite). I’d bump it next time.

    1. User avatar marline.pfeffer says:

      5 stars
Yeah I totally get what you mean—1/4 cup feta feels oddly exact for how different everyone’s appetites are. I’d probably go 1/2 cup next time (or just add until it looks right).

  32. User avatar Owen Beier says:

    2 stars
I like my toast plain. Blueberries? Nah, that’s not right! ⭐⭐

    1. User avatar celestina.gibson92 says:

      4 stars
I get that, but the blueberries add a nice touch! Give it a try!

  33. User avatar bernard.lubowitz41 says:

    4 stars
Patriotic twist? I mean, sure, it’s red/white/blue-ish… but I’m not convinced it needs to be a theme. Avocado toast already slaps.

  34. User avatar Al O'Moaney says:

    3 stars
Too much feta for my taste. I prefer it simpler, but my kids loved it! ⭐⭐⭐

  35. 5 stars
This was such an amazing twist on avocado toast! The blueberries made it so festive! 🌟

  36. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute idea—sweet blueberries + salty feta on avocado toast sounds dangerously good. I used a little extra black pepper and it totally popped.

  37. 3 stars
Looks good but my avocado was rotten, so I had to skip that part. 😔

  38. User avatar tawny.wiegand77 says:

    1 star
This is just plain avocado toast. Where’s the twist? Not impressed.

  39. User avatar erminia.bergnaum1978 says:

    1 star
Way too healthy for my taste. Where’s the bacon? 😩

  40. User avatar hee.ortiz1975 says:

    2 stars
I’m skeptical about the blueberries. Blueberry on toast just sounds wrong to me, but my sister insisted. It was… okay.

  41. User avatar catrice.zulauf2023 says:

    1 star
Honestly, this is overrated. Avocado toast already got old, and blueberries on savory stuff ain’t it for me.

  42. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    4 stars
The feta with cherry tomatoes is a solid move. I’d probably add a tiny squeeze of lemon for brightness though. Overall pretty great and quick.

  43. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    4 stars
Looks amazing. Also, whole grain toast + feta is a great texture combo. Would add chili flakes next time.

    1. User avatar sybil.bailey9 says:

      5 stars
Yes! Chili flakes would be perfect with the creamy avocado and salty feta. I’m definitely trying that next time—more zing, less bland 😄

    2. User avatar ralph.brekke says:

      3 stars
This is super cute, but I don’t know about blueberries on toast… Isn’t that like, a breakfast salad? Still gonna try though, hope it doesn’t taste weird.

  44. User avatar boyd.zulauf95 says:

    4 stars
Easy to make! I added extra feta because I love cheese! Will definitely make again.

  45. User avatar Lynwood Ferry II says:

    5 stars
Nom nom! I loved it!!! My kids ate it too. That’s a win! 😍

    1. 5 stars
That’s awesome! Kids are picky, so you musta done something right! 😊

    2. 3 stars
Avocado toast? Sounds… interesting. Not sure about blueberries with it tho. 🤔

  46. User avatar vincent.goldner53 says:

    5 stars
So easy! I had ripe avocados and it came together in like 10 minutes. Came out fresh and colorful—my kind of recipe.

  47. User avatar Ryuu Shenlong says:

    2 stars
I mean, it’s just toast with some stuff. How is this a recipe? ⭐⭐

    1. User avatar Charles Darwin says:

      5 stars
But, like, it’s not just toast! It’s healthy stuff on bread! You can’t knock it till you try it! 🌟

    2. User avatar Hillman Hunter says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean, but not everything has to be complicated to be good! Sometimes simple is best! 😊

  48. 4 stars
Really simple recipe! But I would add some hot sauce for a kick! Definitely a 4 outta 5!

    1. User avatar valentina.sauer89 says:

      4 stars
Sounds good! I usually just eat it plain, but hot sauce could be a fun twist. Thanks for the tip!

  49. User avatar Reg Nullify says:

    2 stars
Not sure about blueberries on avocado toast… I mean, berries are sweet, right? It kinda worked though. Wouldn’t make it every week.

  50. User avatar mose.schoen32 says:

    2 stars
Avocado toast is already good, but blueberries on the savory side? Idk, feels weird to me.

  51. User avatar ellamae.hegmann25 says:

    5 stars
This is a fab recipe! Love the blueberries touch, makes it feel so festive! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  52. 4 stars
Yummy! I added some chili flakes for spice and omg, delish! ❤️✨⭐⭐⭐⭐

  53. User avatar darryl.stoltenberg says:

    5 stars
The instructions are super simple, which I love. I used gluten-free bread and it worked fine.

  54. User avatar talia.will30 says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid idea. I did add a squeeze of lemon to the avocado though—made it brighter. Feta on tomatoes is a great combo.

  55. User avatar Otto Schmeler says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, “blueberries on toast” sounds weird, but I tried it and it works. Maybe because the feta is salty?

  56. 4 stars
I didn’t have feta, so I used cheddar. Still turned out great! Slightly different but yumm! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  57. 5 stars
My aunt says you can’t mix sweet and savory, but this works! Gotta tell her. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  58. User avatar rigoberto.schuster56 says:

    3 stars
Whole grain bread + mashed avocado is solid, but I’m skeptical about cherry tomatoes + feta on the same bite. Still, I guess you can’t really go wrong with salt/pepper.

    1. User avatar grover.zieme67 says:

      4 stars
I get the skepticism, but tomatoes + feta is actually a classic combo. The saltiness of the feta kinda balances the acidity. Sounds tasty!

  59. User avatar leana.reichert52 says:

    2 stars
Disappointed. The basil made it taste weird and the blueberries were like…confusing. Also 4-6 tomatoes is too many for my toast lol.

  60. User avatar mathWizard says:

    1 star
This is like… avocado on bread? So not a big deal. ⭐

  61. User avatar ettie.cassin2008 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, it’s a little random mixing blueberries with savory. But I tried it anyway and it was surprisingly decent.

  62. User avatar edwina.raynor16 says:

    5 stars
So cute with the blueberries and basil—feels like breakfast dressed for a holiday parade. I’m in. ⭐️

  63. User avatar tameika.conroy says:

    3 stars
The instructions are clear, but “patriotic twist” feels a little gimmicky. Flavor-wise it was okay though—tomatoes + feta is always good.

  64. 4 stars
I followed it exactly but my feta was kinda salty so I skipped extra salt. Still tasty!

    1. User avatar dominick.haag says:

      5 stars
That’s exactly the right move—feta can be super salty depending on the brand. Glad it still worked out for you!

    2. User avatar fredric.jakubowski says:

      3 stars
Maybe your feta was old? If it was salty, next time try rinsing it or use less feta. Also i dont get the blueberry+basil thing… but hey if it tasted good 😅

  65. User avatar sindy.frami37 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about the blueberries on toast… I mean, I get the colors, but sweet fruit + avocado + feta? Could be weird. I might swap blueberries for something less sugary.

    1. 2 stars
I’m not convinced… blueberries on toast feels like dessert vibes. Maybe swap with strawberries or even just add more tomatoes? Also I’d do the feta first then the fruit so it doesn’t slide off.

    2. User avatar logan.moen says:

      5 stars
Honestly I love the combo—sweet berries cut through the creamy avocado and salty feta. The basil helps too. It’s like a little sweet/savory balance, not as weird as it sounds.

  66. User avatar dylan.stoltenberg60 says:

    4 stars
The instructions are easy, but mine got kinda soggy because my tomatoes were too juicy. Next time I’ll salt tomatoes lightly first and drain.

  67. User avatar cody.murazik1993 says:

    3 stars
I used white bread instead of whole grain, still turned out fine! It was a nice breakfast.

  68. User avatar cris.daugherty says:

    5 stars
I made it for brunch and everyone asked for the recipe. The feta really pulls it together.

  69. User avatar lazaro.reinger69 says:

    3 stars
I made this recipe and it was alright, but my kids didn’t like the blueberries. They want just plain toast next time.

  70. User avatar janae.abshire2003 says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this twist! The blueberries add such a nice touch! I will make it again for the 4th of July! 🇺🇸

  71. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
This is such a fun idea—blueberries + basil on toast actually sounds really fresh. I’ll try it for sure.

  72. User avatar herman.smitham2011 says:

    5 stars
Really good flavor contrast—creamy avocado, salty feta, juicy tomatoes. The basil garnish is classy.

  73. User avatar basementDweller says:

    3 stars
I tried it and it was good, but my avocado got a little bitter—maybe my avocado wasn’t ripe. Next time I’ll mash it with more salt and pepper.

    1. User avatar reiko.mills says:

      5 stars
That makes sense—unripe avocado can totally taste bitter. Next time try letting it ripen more (or mix in a squeeze of lemon/lime), and salting after mashing should help too. Love the patriotic combo!

  74. User avatar chelsea.upton71 says:

    5 stars
    Yum!

  75. User avatar celinda.emmerich93 says:

    2 stars
Hmm I don’t know about blueberries on toast. Sounds like a kids’ snack. But I’ll admit it’s a cool theme for a holiday.

    1. User avatar jayna.lebsack says:

      4 stars
Honestly I get what you mean—blueberries on toast feels a little random—but the sweet pops against the creamy avocado and salty feta. For a holiday spread, it’s kinda perfect. I’d try it!

  76. User avatar Claire Voyance says:

    4 stars
I followed it exactly and mine looked nothing like the photo, lol. Still tasted nice though—tomatoes + feta is a solid combo.

  77. 5 stars
Yum! Next time I might throw in some eggs on top too! 🥑🍳

  78. User avatar hue.mcdermott63 says:

    5 stars
This is ridiculously easy. I made it for breakfast and it looked way more impressive than it took. Next time I’ll add a squeeze of lemon though.

  79. 3 stars
Mine got soggy after a few minutes. I think my tomatoes were too juicy—maybe pat them dry? Still tasty though.

  80. 2 stars
I don’t know why you’d put blueberries on toast. Sounds weird. Just stick to tomatoes and feta.

    1. 4 stars
Actually, the blueberries add a nice sweetness that balances the savory flavors! You should give it a try before judging.

  81. User avatar joshua.parker says:

    2 stars
1/4 cup feta wasn’t enough for my taste. Like, I barely noticed it. Also I used regular tomatoes not cherry and it wasn’t the same vibe.

    1. 5 stars
Totally get that—1/4 cup feta is a little shy. I usually go more like 1/2 cup (and I don’t mind extra saltiness with the avocado). Also yeah, using regular tomatoes changes the whole thing—cherry tomatoes are juicier and sweeter so the “vibe” stays brighter. If you only have regular, try dicing smaller and draining a bit so it doesn’t get watery.

  82. User avatar Ernesto Reilly II says:

    5 stars
Whole grain bread is key—when I used regular white bread it turned soggy fast. If you serve immediately like it says, it’s perfect.

  83. User avatar Grìma Wormtongue says:

    5 stars
This looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it for breakfast tomorrow. The combo of avocado and feta is genius! 🥑

    1. 5 stars
This sounds like the perfect breakfast! I love how fresh and healthy it is. Can’t wait to see how it turns out! 😊

  84. User avatar michelina.sawayn says:

    4 stars
I followed the steps exactly. Only thing: I ran out of basil so I used parsley and it was still tasty. My tomatoes were a little too watery though.

  85. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid combo, but I found the feta a bit too salty unless I go easy on it. Also I’d add a squeeze of lemon next time.

    1. User avatar francesco.barrows1958 says:

      5 stars
Good call—feta can be *super* salty depending on brand. I’ve started adding it more lightly and finishing with lemon and it really helps. Thanks for the tip!

  86. User avatar Ford Prefect says:

    5 stars
Love the patriotic twist—blueberries and basil on avocado toast sounds like a fun summer combo. Simple but looks super colorful. Definitely making this for brunch!

    1. User avatar anibal.gutmann says:

      5 stars
That really does look like the perfect Fourth of July brunch—colorful and fresh! 😄 I’m totally trying the blueberries + basil combo.

  87. 5 stars
This is such a cute breakfast idea for parties. The colors are perfect and it’s not heavy. Will make again for sure!

  88. User avatar lisandra.conroy54 says:

    4 stars
I tried it without feta (because dairy doesn’t love me) and it was still good. Would recommend! Basil is key.

  89. User avatar Wellington Yueh says:

    4 stars
I tried it but my blueberries made the toast kinda sweet? Not bad, just unexpected. Feta helped balance it.

    1. User avatar ola.flatley69 says:

      5 stars
That totally makes sense—blueberries can go pretty sweet once they hit the toast. Next time try a pinch more salt/pepper or add extra feta to balance it even more. Also, fresh basil should help cut the sweetness too!

  90. 5 stars
I used less feta and more pepper and it turned out great. The basil slice smelled amazing. Would make again for breakfast.

  91. User avatar alfredo.beier says:

    4 stars
Pretty good and super quick. The feta makes it way more interesting than plain avocado toast. I used extra pepper and it was perfect.

    1. User avatar monika.roberts says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The feta really upgrades it—so much more flavor than plain avo toast. I’m stealing “extra pepper” as the next tweak.

Huh, feta on avocado toast sounds kinda risky but… if it’s quick and not bland, I’m willing to try. Did you toast the bread for a while or just lightly?

  92. 5 stars
Love the patriotic twist—blueberries and basil on avocado toast feels so fresh. I added a little lemon too and it really popped!

  93. 4 stars
If this is ‘patriotic’ then I guess America likes feta now 😅 Still, it tasted great and the colors are perfect.

This tastes like America to me 😅. Whole grain bread + feta is legit. My basil was a little wilted but still good.

    1. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

      4 stars
Not gonna lie, basil wilting would stress me out. Still though, avocado toast with feta sounds better than it should. Do you think regular bread works or has to be whole grain?

    2. User avatar Reg Nullify says:

      5 stars
Haha “America” nailed 😄 Whole grain + feta is such a good combo. I like that you did the blueberries/basil split—feels fun but still balanced.

  95. 3 stars
1/4 cup feta feels low—like I want more. Also the recipe doesn’t say how salty the tomatoes are, so I kept adding pepper and ended up overdoing it. But it was edible and I’d try again.

  96. 3 stars
Recipe says blueberries on one slice and basil on the other—why not both? I mixed them and it was actually good?? maybe I’m crazy lol

This is such a cute patriotic idea! The blueberries + basil combo sounds weird but actually pretty bright. I’m definitely making this for brunch.

Love the patriotic look! I’m with you though—blueberries + basil sounds a little odd, but I can see how it could taste fresh. I’ll try it for brunch too 😄

  98. User avatar Super Saiyan Goku says:

This looks like the perfect quick lunch—creamy avocado, salty feta, and the tomatoes really pop. The blueberries/basil patriotic twist is honestly genius.

  99. 3 stars
I messed up the toppings—mixed the blueberries and basil together by accident 😅 Still tasted alright, just less ‘red white and blue’ vibes.

    1. User avatar darrick.upton says:

      4 stars
Lol that’s actually hilarious 😅 But hey—blueberries + basil still sounds kinda good, like a sweet-savory moment. “Less vibes,” but more flavor? I’m in.

Not gonna lie, “patriotic twist” feels a little forced, but the flavor combo is still solid. Would eat again.

  101. 2 stars
I don’t get the “patriotic twist.” It’s just toppings. Also I used dried basil and it wasn’t the same—no lie.

  102. User avatar ali.nicolas2016 says:

Simple and looks gorgeous. I did a sprinkle of extra feta and added a squeeze of lemon—10/10. Whole grain bread makes it feel more filling too.

Yes!! Lemon with feta is such a good call. I also love when it stays filling—whole grain bread + avocado is a winning combo. 🍋🇺🇸

    2. 4 stars
Patriotic twist sounds fun, but I’m confused—do the blueberries go on top of the basil or just one side? Either way, extra feta always helps. 😅

Wow! so easy and tasty. Five stars.

Kinda bland until you salt it. Once I salted enough (and added cracked pepper), it became really tasty. Don’t skip seasoning!

I liked it, but the blueberries on toast felt a little random for me. Maybe if I swap them for sliced strawberries? Still tasty though.

  106. User avatar harold.hill says:

Basil leaves for garnish were kinda meh for me—maybe I chopped them too big? Tomatoes + feta is the winner.

  107. User avatar frankie.schroeder1953 says:

I tried it but my avocado was too chunky and it tore the toast a bit. Also 4-6 tomatoes felt like a lot—next time I’ll do less.

  108. User avatar merrill.rath1986 says:

Honestly, this is so extra (in a good way). My kid thought it was “America toast.” The basil on the savory side is such a nice fresh finish.

  109. User avatar Bilbo Baggins says:

I didn’t have feta, used goat cheese instead. Tastes kinda sharper but still good. The patriotic part is cute!

  110. User avatar brandon.schimmel1 says:

I tried it and the blueberries tasted sour with my brand of avocado… or maybe I just overmashed it? Either way, not for me.

    1. User avatar Denis Koch says:

      1 star
I think the problem is the avocado, not you. If it’s “wrong brand” then it tastes funky. But also… blueberries on toast sounds weird to me. Basil woulda been better. Just my opinion.

    2. 2 stars
Sorry it didn’t work for you! Sour blueberries can happen if they’re under-ripe, and overmashing the avocado could definitely make the whole thing taste a bit off. Maybe try sweeter berries or add a tiny drizzle of honey/extra salt next time?

Avocado + feta makes sense. Blueberries and basil feels kinda random though—like why not just do strawberries? Still edible, just not my favorite combo.

    1. 2 stars
Strawberries would be way better 😂 Blueberries just taste like they belong in yogurt. Also, I tried this and my feta was kinda watery—maybe I’m doing it wrong.

    2. User avatar halflife4 says:

I get what you mean about the blueberries—feels random at first. But I actually like the sweet pop with the creamy avocado and salty feta. The basil makes it taste fresher too.

  112. User avatar dorene.blick35 says:

Basil leaves on one side? That’s like making two different breakfasts and calling it a theme 😅 But it was fresh.

  113. User avatar lora.price63 says:

I followed it pretty much exactly, but my avocado got a little browned. Next time I’ll add a squeeze of lemon and probably cut the tomatoes smaller so they don’t slide off.

  114. 4 stars
I don’t have basil so I used spinach leaves. Worked well. Next time I’ll add garlic powder to the avocado maybe?

    1. 3 stars
Spinach leaves instead of basil… interesting. I guess it works? Garlic powder might be better as fresh garlic though, but hey if you like it, go for it. I’d probably add it lightly so it doesn’t overpower the feta.

    2. User avatar Sam Manilla says:

      5 stars
Spinach is a great stand-in for basil—nice idea! Garlic powder on the avocado sounds like it’ll add a lot of flavor without messing up the creamy vibe. 🇺🇸

I’m skeptical about this. Avocado toast is already good, why add random fruit? Seems like a gimmick.

  116. User avatar kristopher.feeney81 says:

I followed it pretty much exactly—golden bread, creamy avocado, salty feta. The basil vs blueberries split was surprisingly good.

    1. User avatar basementDweller says:

      5 stars
Wow, that actually sounds like the perfect balance—savory feta + creamy avocado, and then the sweet pop from the blueberries. I like that you kept it simple and followed the steps pretty much exactly. Basil over tomatoes is a great “fresh” contrast too.

  117. User avatar Dr. Lynn Russel says:

So simple but honestly looks super festive. The blueberries on toast are a genius idea I wouldn’t have tried otherwise!

Yay, love to hear that!! 🇺🇸🥑 The blueberry/basil twist really makes it pop—so glad you enjoyed it!
