Pull-Apart Loaf with Maple Bacon

September 1, 2023

Few things are more satisfying than pulling apart a warm, gooey loaf of bread filled with crispy bacon and dripping with maple glaze. This Pull-Apart Loaf with Maple Bacon is exactly that – a crowd-pleasing treat that hits all the right notes: salty, sweet, smoky, and buttery.

Perfect for brunch, game day gatherings, or holiday mornings, this loaf looks impressive but comes together easily. Imagine layers of soft dough brushed with butter, sprinkled with chopped crispy bacon, and kissed with maple syrup. As it bakes, the layers puff and caramelize, creating a golden-brown crust on the outside while remaining fluffy and flavorful inside.

The key to making this loaf irresistible is the combination of quality ingredients. Use thick-cut bacon for maximum flavor and texture, and real maple syrup – the kind that adds deep, earthy sweetness rather than just sugar. You can use store-bought biscuit dough or pizza dough for ease, or make your own if you’re feeling ambitious.

Once baked, the loaf is brushed with a bit more warm maple syrup and a final scattering of bacon pieces. Every slice pulls away with a sticky-sweet coating, a buttery base, and little pockets of smoky bacon goodness. It’s the kind of dish that disappears fast, so don’t be surprised if your guests ask for seconds – or the recipe.

To customize your loaf, consider adding a sprinkle of shredded cheddar or chopped pecans between the layers for an extra flavor boost. It’s incredibly versatile, and it works just as well as a savory side as it does a sweet breakfast centerpiece.

Best served warm, straight from the oven, this pull-apart loaf is comfort food at its finest. Whether you’re hosting friends or just treating yourself, this maple bacon bread is guaranteed to make the moment more delicious.

This sounds dangerously good. Maple + bacon is a classic for a reason—going to try it with whatever bread dough I have on hand.

Yummy! My kiddo helped me and we had a blast making it. The bacon made it extra special. Will definitely do again!

  3. 3 stars
Honestly it was kinda greasy for me. I cooked the bacon, but maybe I didn’t drain it enough. Still tasty though.

    1. User avatar Frost Atronach says:

      4 stars
Totally get that—bacon can still be pretty greasy even when it’s “crispy.” I usually drain it on paper towels for a few minutes after cooking, and if I’m being extra careful I’ll dab it once more before chopping. Your idea sounds right: not enough draining could definitely do it, but I’m glad it was still tasty!

  4. 1 star
Bacon in bread? Sounds weird, not trying this.

    1. 5 stars
You should give it a chance! Bacon and maple are a classic combo. Trust me, it’s worth trying!

5 stars, but my knife slice was terrible lol. Still came out good tho. The pull-apart part is my favorite.

  6. User avatar myles.swaniawski1962 says:

    5 stars
My kids would demolish this. The “arranging close together” step is key so the pieces fuse and you don’t get a bunch of separate rolls.

  7. User avatar lucien.doyle says:

375°F seems a little low for bacon baked into dough for that long. I think I’d crank to like 400 just to get extra browning.

    1. User avatar ezekiel.abbott says:

      5 stars
I get where you’re coming from—375°F can be a little slow for that extra browning. I’d probably bump it too, especially toward the end, to get a deeper color.

  8. 1 star
Bacon in bread? Sounds interesting, but is it healthy? I think not. 😂

  9. User avatar terrance.ryan87 says:

OMG, I made this for brunch and it was a hit! My kids loved it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Meh. It’s just bread with bacon. I expected more flavor. 🤷‍♂️

  11. 4 stars
Easy and tasty! Perfect for brunch. Please make more recipes like this! 🍽️👍🏻

Why would you add maple syrup with bacon? Seems weird. 🤔

    1. User avatar Hotblack Desiato's bodyguard says:

Maple and bacon is a classic combo! It adds sweetness to the salty bacon. Give it a try! 😊

  13. User avatar martin.glover1969 says:

    5 stars
I used real maple syrup and wow—way better than I expected. The sweetness is subtle, not dessert-level.

  14. User avatar shawnta.rice says:

I made this and it was a major hit at the party! Everyone loved it, thanks for the recipe!

  15. User avatar dean.crooks61 says:

    4 stars
Super tasty but mine was a bit salty (maybe my bacon was extra salty). Next time I’ll use less bacon or drizzle less syrup. Still, would absolutely make again.

    1. User avatar christene.kunze says:

      4 stars
Mine was salty too—my bacon must’ve been the “extra” kind. I agree with you: I’m going to cut back on the bacon and go lighter on the syrup next time. Glad you’d make it again!

  16. 5 stars
Super easy and fun! My kids helped make it and had a blast! Will do it again.

  17. User avatar irma.nicolas2013 says:

Never tried making bread before. This seems easy, I hope it don’t burn!

    1. User avatar marie.carter30 says:

      3 stars
I dunno, looks kinda hard. What if it rises too much or something? Just be careful, okay?

    2. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      5 stars
Making bread is actually really fun! Don’t worry, just keep an eye on it while it’s baking. You’ll do great!

  18. User avatar Chi Shenlong says:

    2 stars
I love bacon, but this was kinda salty for me. The maple helps, but I might use less bacon next time or choose thicker-cut bacon that renders more fat (less crisp?).

    1. User avatar adam.balistreri1986 says:

      3 stars
Maybe you cooked the bacon too long? I always pull it when it’s just starting to crisp, then the loaf baking dries it out too much and makes it taste extra salty. Next time try less bacon or shorter skillet time.

    2. User avatar william.king says:

      4 stars
Totally get that—maple + bacon can get salty fast. I’ve found 4–5 slices works better, or use a low-sodium bacon if you can find it.

  19. User avatar randal.pfeffer says:

    2 stars
Wow really good, but why is it called pull-apart? I didn’t pull it apart. 🤷

    1. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz says:

      4 stars
It’s called pull-apart because you’re supposed to pull the pieces apart after baking! Maybe you didn’t bake it long enough? 🤔

  20. User avatar Hotblack Desiato says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, the instructions are kinda vague like ‘loaf of bread dough’—what size? I guessed and it turned out ok, but timing could’ve been clearer.

  21. User avatar lonny.quigley1997 says:

    3 stars
Eh, it was okay. Didn’t blow my mind or anything. Just tasted like bread with bacon. Tried better things.

  22. User avatar courtney.raynor1987 says:

    4 stars
Was a bit skeptical at first, but wow, this is good. Just don’t overcook the bacon!

  23. 5 stars
OMG this is now my go-to recipe for brunch! Everyone loved it! 5 stars all the way!

    1. 5 stars
That sounds amazing! Can’t wait to try it myself. Brunch just got a whole lot better! 😍

  24. User avatar Isabelle Schinner says:

    5 stars
So good! The outside got golden and the inside was all stretchy. My fam ate it way too fast and asked when I’m making it again. Absolute win.

  25. User avatar delila.nikolaus2002 says:

    3 stars
Tasty but way too sweet for my liking, next time I’ll cut the syrup down.

  26. User avatar Shaddam Corrino IV says:

    5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. Maple + bacon is a classic combo and the pull-apart style makes it feel like a snack loaf you’d actually tear into with your hands.

    1. User avatar luigi.frami46 says:

      5 stars
Right?? Maple + bacon is one of those combos that just works. And the pull-apart/tear-with-your-hands vibe sounds dangerously snackable.

  27. 5 stars
Made this last night and it was gone in minutes! So good! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  28. User avatar mathWizard says:

    4 stars
So easy and delicious! My kids can’t get enough of it!

  29. User avatar stacey.pfannerstill44 says:

    5 stars
Made it last night and it turned out way better than expected. The dough slices baked perfectly together and the maple flavor came through without being too sweet.

  30. User avatar marlin.morissette24 says:

    4 stars
Maple syrup on bacon dough? I dunno… but I tried it anyway and wow. The smell when it’s baking is ridiculous. My family kept stealing pieces.

    1. User avatar Telma Runolfsdottir says:

      5 stars
Okay I’m laughing because I’m 100% trying this now 😂 Maple + bacon just sounds wrong until it’s… right. “Family kept stealing pieces” is the best review ever.

    2. User avatar hal.lueilwitz94 says:

      3 stars
I’m skeptical tbh. Maple syrup is so sweet—won’t it make the loaf sticky/soggy inside? Maybe I’d use less than 2 tbsp. Still, the smell idea has me curious.

  31. User avatar basementDweller says:

    3 stars
Not sure about putting maple syrup right on the bacon—seems like it could burn or get too sticky. Still, I’ll probably test it once.

  32. User avatar demetrius.strosin82 says:

    5 stars
This is the best combo ever! Maple and bacon? Yum! 😍

  33. User avatar dinosaur says:

    3 stars
Bacon is the best but I think maple syrup is too sweet for bread?

    1. User avatar chance.willms66 says:

      5 stars
I totally disagree! Maple syrup adds a wonderful sweetness that pairs well with the salty bacon. You gotta try it!

    2. User avatar odell.spinka says:

      3 stars
Maple syrup on bread? That’s a weird combo! But bacon is always a win, lol.

  34. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

Yummy! I added cheese too, it was so good! 😋

  35. User avatar Oolon Colluphid says:

Maple syrup and bacon? I mean, who comes up with these ideas? Not really my thing, but my friends loved it.

  36. User avatar lora.ondricka68 says:

    5 stars
This looks so delicious! Can’t wait to try it out for brunch.

  37. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    5 stars
    Wow. so good

    1. User avatar stacy.krajcik64 says:

      5 stars
Right?? The maple + bacon combo is such a game changer. I did mine and it smelled amazing the whole time.

    2. 3 stars
Not gonna lie, sounds kinda sweet for bacon 😅 but if you say it’s good… I might try it. 1-inch slices is a lot though, mine would probably come out thicker.

  38. User avatar lyle.klocko says:

    4 stars
I made something similar once and it came out super oily—your instructions say to cook bacon crispy first so hopefully that fixes it. Still, 30-40 minutes might be a bit short for thicker dough.

    1. User avatar adelle.oreilly says:

      4 stars
Oh no—super oily is usually from bacon fat not being drained. I usually pat the bacon bits on paper towels after crisping, and that helps a lot. Also I grease the dish lightly and not more after that.

    2. User avatar fae.cruickshank68 says:

      4 stars
30-40 min feels short to me too if your dough pieces are chunky. I’d bake closer to 40-45 and look for dark-golden edges, not just “golden.”

  39. 5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. Maple + bacon in a pull-apart loaf is like giving brunch a hug. I’d probably add a little pepper or even cheddar next time.

    1. User avatar Hwi Noree says:

      5 stars
Brunch a hug is exactly the vibe 😂 I made something similar once—adding black pepper really wakes it up. Cheddar next time sounds dangerously good too.

    2. 3 stars
Maple + bacon sounds great but I’m worried it’ll be too sweet? Maybe less maple syrup? Also 375°F for 30-40 min might not cook the dough inside where it’s packed—just my experience.

  40. User avatar brett.quitzon says:

    3 stars
Instructions were kind of confusing, I almost burned it! Next time I’l keep an eye on it better. 🍞

  41. 2 stars
Sounds good, but I don’t like sweet stuff mixed with meat. How does it even taste? Someone explain.

  42. 5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The combination of maple and bacon is genius. I can’t wait to try it out. 5 stars!

    1. User avatar Bobby Koch V says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! Maple and bacon are such a good mix. Can’t wait to taste it myself! 🍁🥓

    2. 3 stars
Looks great, but is it really that simple? I might mess it up 🤔. Anyone have tips?

  43. User avatar vanda.mckenzie46 says:

    4 stars
I made something similar once and the seam sealing was key. I’d say pinch it like you mean it, otherwise the filling leaks (ask me how I know).

    1. User avatar charise.gutkowski81 says:

      5 stars
Omg yes—pinching the seam is everything. I’ve had the “oops it leaked” moment too 😅. Tight roll + real pinch = way better.

    2. User avatar zulema.balistreri1978 says:

      3 stars
Maybe my oven runs hot but I pinched the seam and still had leaks. I think I didn’t press hard enough? Next time I’ll try sealing like, super aggressively lol.

  44. 5 stars
My kids devoured it. Like, no plate left. Next time I’ll chop the bacon a bit finer so it spreads more evenly.

    1. User avatar lyndon.strosin says:

      4 stars
Sounds good but I don’t know if 30–40 min is enough… mine usually needs longer for the middle. Also I might just do the bacon pieces really small first so it doesn’t kinda clump up.

    2. 5 stars
Ahhh love this! “No plate left” is the best review 😂 Chopping the bacon finer makes total sense so every bite gets that maple-bacon goodness.

  45. User avatar desmond.homenick1951 says:

    5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. Maple + crispy bacon in a pull-apart loaf is exactly the kind of comfort food I crave. I’ll probably add a little cheddar too.

    1. 5 stars
Right?! Maple + bacon is such a win. Cheddar sounds like the perfect upgrade—go for it!

  46. User avatar lynelle.upton says:

    5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The combo of maple and bacon is to die for. My family devoured it!

  47. User avatar armida.breitenberg2022 says:

    2 stars
I followed the recipe but it didn’t turn out right. The dough was too sticky, and I couldn’t roll it. 😕

  48. User avatar Aurelio Wilkinson PhD says:

    5 stars
Maple syrup and bacon? Sounds like a dream. Only 10 minutes prep? Yes please!

  49. 5 stars
This sounds ridiculously good. The combo of salty bacon + maple syrup is chef’s kiss. I’m definitely making it for brunch.

    1. User avatar belva.willms47 says:

      5 stars
Right?? Salty bacon + maple syrup is such a perfect sweet-salty thing. Brunch is about to be elite 😄

  50. 3 stars
375°F seems kind of low? I baked mine and it came out pretty pale on top at 30 minutes, so I added another 15. Still tasty, just not “golden” right away.

  51. User avatar ione.friesen38 says:

    3 stars
Not sure the maple amount is right—2 tbsp felt a little light spread over a full loaf of dough. I ended up drizzling a bit more and it tasted more like the maple syrup I expected.

  52. 3 stars
My bacon didn’t chop super small and it kinda clumped, but flavor was still great. Would add a little extra time maybe.

  53. User avatar shanae.walker says:

    4 stars
I used turkey bacon and it was still good! Will try with real bacon next time. 🥓

  54. User avatar avis.gibson7 says:

    2 stars
Nah, didn’t like it. Too sweet for my taste. I prefer my bread plain, thank you very much.

  55. 3 stars
I’m skeptical about 1-inch slices—seems like they might not cook through evenly. Also, do you mean 375°F for the whole bake? Mine browned fast at 30 minutes.

    1. User avatar joe_banana says:

      4 stars
I get the concern—1-inch pieces can cook unevenly, but since they’re tightly packed in the baking dish, they usually steam/soften from the dough and then finish browning. 375°F is the temp for the whole bake. If yours browned fast at 30 minutes, you can tent with foil around 25-30 min and just bake a bit longer until the center feels set.

  56. User avatar nieves.konopelski71 says:

    3 stars
i followed the steps but my dough was kinda sticky and the slices didnt look like they were 1-inch. still tasted ok tho lol

  57. User avatar trevor.rempel83 says:

    5 stars
Sounds dangerously good. I love anything that turns into a pull-apart situation. Next time I’ll add a sprinkle of black pepper or maybe a little cheese inside too.

  58. User avatar luella.welch37 says:

    2 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical about using maple syrup like that—seems like it’ll burn. Did anyone cover it with foil halfway or does it behave?

    1. 5 stars
I’ve done it—yes, maple syrup can brown, but it doesn’t usually “burn” in that 30–40 min at 375. It mostly caramelizes with all the bacon fat, so it turns sticky/golden. If you’re worried, you can loosely tent foil after ~20 minutes, but I usually just watch the color.

  59. User avatar josh.hoppe52 says:

    1 star
I dunno about this. Springfield doesn’t even have maple trees! Maybe I won’t try it at all. 😒

  60. User avatar Super Saiyan Trunks says:

    2 stars
I had a hard time with the dough. It was sticky and I ended up with a mess. Maybe I’m just not cut out for baking.
