Crispy Baked Zucchini Fries

September 1, 2023

Crispy Baked Zucchini Fries are a healthier, delicious alternative to traditional French fries, offering the perfect combination of crunch and flavor without the guilt. Made with fresh zucchini slices coated in a seasoned breadcrumb and parmesan mixture, these fries are baked to golden perfection rather than fried, making them lighter but just as satisfying.

Zucchini is a versatile summer vegetable that’s low in calories and high in nutrients like vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. When cut into thin strips, breaded, and baked, it transforms into a crispy snack or side dish that’s great for dipping and sharing. The secret to the perfect crunch is coating the zucchini in flour, dipping it in beaten egg, and then rolling it in a mixture of breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Baking them on a wire rack ensures air circulates around each fry, helping them crisp up evenly on all sides without needing oil.

These zucchini fries are a fantastic appetizer, party snack, or side for burgers and grilled meats. Pair them with a creamy garlic aioli, marinara sauce, or ranch dressing for extra flavor. They’re also a clever way to get kids (and adults) to eat more vegetables, especially when they’re served hot and crunchy from the oven.

Easy to prepare and packed with flavor, Crispy Baked Zucchini Fries are perfect for weeknight dinners, game day gatherings, or simply as a wholesome treat to satisfy your cravings. Whether you’re looking for a low-carb side dish or a new way to enjoy fresh zucchini, these fries deliver on taste, texture, and nutrition—all without deep-frying. Once you try them, they might just become your new favorite way to use up summer’s most abundant vegetable.

Sounds easy. But zucchini? Really? I’ll stick to potato fries if ya ask me.

This recipe is actually a fraud! Zucchini is supposed to be sautéed, NOT baked! Disappointing.

    1. 4 stars
I respectfully disagree! I love baked zucchini fries. They come out crispy and delicious. Maybe it’s just not your style.

I don’t know about this. My zucchinis got mushy. Maybe I did something wrong?

Don’t worry! It happens to the best of us. Make sure to slice them thin and not overcrowd the pan. That really helps keep them crispy!

    2. User avatar marianne.glover27 says:

      3 stars
Mushy zucchinis? Maybe they’re just too wet. Try drying them off before breading. And that temp seems too high for zucchini!

  5. User avatar jonathan.prosacco1996 says:

I don’t think these taste like real fries. Zucchini is just too mushy for me. 🤨

    1. User avatar Lumberjack says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean, zucchini can be a bit soft. Have you tried squeezing out the moisture before baking? It might help with texture! 😄

  6. 3 stars
Not bad but I think zucchini is not for fries. More like veggie sticks?
