Pasta, Pesto and Peas

June 2, 2026

Pasta, Pesto and Peas is a simple yet incredibly flavorful dish that combines tender pasta, vibrant basil pesto, and sweet green peas into a meal that is both comforting and refreshing. Perfect for busy weeknights, quick lunches, or light dinners, this recipe comes together with minimal effort while delivering maximum flavor. The combination of fresh herbs, creamy pesto, and naturally sweet peas creates a balanced dish that feels both wholesome and satisfying.

One of the reasons this recipe is so popular is its simplicity. With only a handful of ingredients, it highlights the fresh flavors of each component without requiring complicated cooking techniques. The pesto provides a rich and aromatic base made from basil pesto, garlic, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, and pine nuts. Its bold flavor coats the pasta beautifully and complements the sweetness of the peas.

The choice of pasta is flexible, making this recipe easy to adapt based on what you have available. Penne, fusilli, farfalle, or spaghetti all work wonderfully. The pasta is cooked until al dente, creating the perfect texture to hold the pesto sauce. Meanwhile, the peas are quickly cooked until tender while maintaining their bright green color and slight sweetness.

Once the pasta and peas are combined, the pesto is stirred in to create a silky, flavorful coating. A small splash of reserved pasta water helps loosen the sauce and allows it to cling evenly to every bite. The result is a creamy, vibrant dish that tastes fresh and satisfying without feeling heavy.

Pasta, Pesto and Peas is also highly versatile. For added protein, grilled chicken, shrimp, or salmon can be incorporated into the dish. Fresh spinach, asparagus, zucchini, or cherry tomatoes make excellent additions if you want to include more vegetables. A sprinkle of extra Parmesan cheese and freshly cracked black pepper adds a finishing touch that enhances the flavors even further.

Because it can be served warm, at room temperature, or even chilled, this recipe is ideal for meal prep, picnics, and packed lunches. It stores well and remains delicious the next day, making it a practical choice for busy schedules.

Fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor, Pasta, Pesto and Peas is a recipe that proves simple ingredients can create something truly delicious. Its combination of comforting pasta, fragrant pesto, and sweet peas makes it a reliable favorite for any occasion.

It was okay, but I think the pesto was too strong for my taste. I prefer a lighter sauce.

This was a disaster! My pasta turned mushy and I accidentally used too much pepper. Never again!

So easy! Just make sure you have the right stuff. I forgot the peas and was like ‘oops’! Still tasty, but you need those green things!

I don’t get why people like pesto so much. It’s just…. weird. Just used plain butter and it worked fine.

Meh. Too much green for my taste. Could get better results with just butter and cheese, right?

Nah, you need some greens! It’s called pasta, PESTO and peas for a reason! Butter and cheese just make it heavy.
