Gnocchi With Herb Sauce

January 27, 2025

Gnocchi with herb sauce is a delightful dish that brings together soft, pillowy potato gnocchi and a fresh, aromatic herb sauce. This recipe is perfect for those who want a comforting yet light meal that’s bursting with flavor. The herb sauce is simple to make, and it pairs beautifully with the gnocchi, creating a satisfying dish that feels both indulgent and refreshing.

To begin, prepare your gnocchi. You can use store-bought gnocchi for convenience, or if you’re up for it, homemade gnocchi adds an extra touch of love to the dish. Boil the gnocchi in salted water until they float to the top, indicating they’re done. Once cooked, drain them and set aside.

While the gnocchi cooks, make the herb sauce. In a large pan, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Then, add a mix of fresh herbs such as basil, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. If you want a more intense herb flavor, you can also add a handful of spinach or arugula for an extra green boost. Let the herbs cook gently in the oil, releasing their fragrant oils.

Next, add a splash of vegetable or chicken broth to create a smooth sauce base. Stir in a little butter or olive oil to give the sauce a rich, velvety texture. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes, letting the flavors combine. For a creamy twist, you can add a splash of heavy cream or a dollop of mascarpone cheese to the sauce.

Once your sauce is ready, gently toss the gnocchi in the pan with the herb sauce, making sure each piece is coated with the fragrant mixture. Cook for an additional minute or two, allowing the gnocchi to absorb some of the flavors.

Serve the gnocchi with a generous sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan or Pecorino Romano cheese on top, along with a few more fresh herbs for garnish. The creamy, aromatic herb sauce enhances the delicate gnocchi, making this dish a comforting, flavorful meal.

This gnocchi is versatile enough to be enjoyed on its own or paired with a side salad or grilled vegetables. It’s a simple, yet elegant dish that’s sure to satisfy your cravings for something comforting and full of fresh flavors.

Gnocchi taste like little pillows of joy! But why lemon? Seems weird. Still, I might give it a shot.

  2. User avatar vicenta.lebsack says:

I tried this but it turned out kinda bland. Maybe more salt or herbs would help? Not bad but I expected better.

  3. User avatar Clifton Lind says:

    5 stars
This recipe was amazing! The herbs give it such a fresh taste. Will definitely make it again!

  4. User avatar senaida.okon74 says:

Not sure about the amounts. 1/4 cup each herb felt like a lot, but maybe that’s just my parsley being tiny. Still decent, just needed more salt.

  5. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    3 stars
Nice flavors but I think it needed more salt. Maybe I missed something?

  6. User avatar Juli Ankunding says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I think my garlic was a little too strong because I sautéed it too long. Also, I didn’t chop the herbs finely enough so some bites were kinda leafy. Flavor was still decent though.

    1. 5 stars
Good catch on the garlic—1 minute is really the sweet spot. I always keep it on a shorter sauté too; once it starts smelling “too cooked,” it can get sharp fast. Also chopping herbs finer helps a lot with that leafiness.

    2. User avatar jena.tillman says:

      3 stars
I think you just needed more lemon juice to balance the garlic? Like if the garlic is too strong, squeeze another lemon and it’ll fix it. And yeah, I never chop herbs that small, it’s fine with me—more like rustic bites. 🙂

  7. User avatar darron.hansen72 says:

Absolutely delicious! This recipe is a keeper. The herb sauce is so fresh and vibrant. Can’t believe how easy it was to make!

Took me a while to get it right, but the garlic and herbs made it worth it! Will make again.

Took you a while? Should’ve been easy. Gnocchi like a dumpling, right? 🤔

That sounds delicious! I love garlic in my dishes. 🙌

Super simple, super good! I love all the herbs. Will make again for sure. 🥳

  10. User avatar Ken Emmerich MD says:

I liked it, but mine tasted a bit sharp from the lemon. Next time I’ll use a little less lemon juice or add a tiny splash of pasta water to mellow it out.

    1. User avatar rich.landlord says:

      5 stars
I get that—lemon can be punchy. I’ve had the best luck adding it gradually and tasting as I go. A splash of pasta water totally makes sense too!

  11. 5 stars
Wow, this is the best gnocchi I’ve ever had! Could eat it every day!

  12. User avatar jerrold.mosciski1973 says:

Yum! My whole family loved it. Even the kids, who are picky eaters.

My kids are super picky too… did they really like the lemon juice? I might skip that part.

    2. 5 stars

Gnocchi is good, but homemade is better! Store-bought never tastes right, ya know?

    2. User avatar kirk.hermann says:

I love gnocchi too! It’s so soft and tasty, especially with herbs. This recipe sounds delicious! 😋

  14. User avatar jessie.grady24 says:

I don’t like gnocchi that much, but I tried this recipe. Didn’t really impress me though.

    1. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

      4 stars
That’s too bad! I thought the herb sauce made it really fresh. Maybe you just don’t like the texture of the gnocchi? 🤔

    2. 3 stars
I love how easy this recipe is! But hey, everyone’s taste is different. What did you find unimpressive about it?

  15. 3 stars
1/4 cup basil + 1/4 cup parsley felt like way too much at first, but it balanced out. Next time I’ll half it if I’m serving kids… not gonna lie.

  16. User avatar bill.langworth1995 says:

    3 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly, but mine tasted a bit too acidic from the lemon. Next time I’ll start with less lemon juice and salt to balance.

    1. 5 stars
That makes sense—lemon can get punchy fast. I usually add it last and a little at a time until it tastes right. Great tip to start with less!

    2. 3 stars
Maybe it needed more garlic? Or like, more butter? I feel like lemon juice always makes everything sour, even when you “to taste” salt. Next time try less lemon and more pepper? idk.

  17. User avatar earl.waters says:

    2 stars
I made this for my family and they said it was too bland. Maybe add more garlic or some cheese for flavor? Idk.

  18. User avatar bennie.cronin10 says:

    3 stars
Garlic sautéed too long for me (oops) so it got a bit sharp. Still ate it, just felt harsher than expected.

  19. User avatar luvenia.mclaughlin1977 says:

    4 stars
Quick and easy meal! Perfect for weeknights. I used store-bought gnocchi and it turned out great!

  20. User avatar hortensia.watsica says:

    3 stars
I don’t have fresh herbs, can I use dried ones instead? Anyone tried that?

    1. 5 stars
Yes, dried herbs work fine! Just use a bit less since they are more concentrated. I’ve done it and it tasted great!

  21. User avatar adan.jacobson says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, 1 minute garlic is tricky—mine went from fragrant to slightly burnt fast. Still tasted good, but I’d lower the heat.

  22. User avatar kraig.greenholt49 says:

    4 stars
Quick and easy! Perfect for a weeknight dinner. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  23. User avatar mathilde.bartoletti89 says:

    3 stars
Garlic + lemon + basil = good combo. I used dried parsley because I was out of fresh and it was fine, not amazing but fine.

    1. User avatar evette.haag55 says:

      4 stars
Totally agree—garlic + lemon really brightens it up. Dried parsley is a good save when you’re out of fresh. I’ve found it tastes more “round” if you add it a minute with the garlic.

    2. User avatar verdell.hansen says:

      2 stars
Hmm. I think basil needs to be fresh or it gets kinda flat. Dried parsley can work, but then it’s basically a different vibe. Next time, try a pinch of oregano or—wait—would that ruin it?

  24. User avatar vernon.maggio1967 says:

    4 stars
Basil and parsley together… honestly I wasn’t sure, but it works. Kinda like a light herb-lemon butter situation. Would totally make again.

    1. User avatar wilson.beer says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—basil + parsley together is underrated. That lemon makes it feel super fresh, like a quick herb-butter vibe.

  25. User avatar Deep Thought says:

    5 stars
Yum! I added some red pepper flakes for a kick. So good!

  26. User avatar alejandro.hirthe says:

    4 stars
Not bad, but I think it needed a little more sauce. Maybe add a splash of pasta water next time so it clings better.

  27. User avatar bryce.lakin1982 says:

    4 stars
So simple but so good! I’ll make this again for sure.

    1. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

      3 stars
Sounds easy, but isn’t it just a bit plain? More like a side dish than a main, right?

    2. User avatar steve_maga says:

      5 stars
I’m glad you liked it! It’s a family favorite over here. The herbs really bring it to life!

  28. User avatar ethelene.boyer87 says:

    3 stars
Too much lemon juice for my taste. Next time I’ll cut it down for sure!

    1. User avatar JinJenz says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! Lemon can be overpowering sometimes. Less is definitely more!

  29. User avatar sally.anderson1958 says:

    4 stars
More garlic! Next time I’m doubling the garlic and maybe adding some chili flakes.

  30. User avatar Warner Little says:

    1 star
Disappointed. The sauce was bland. I expected better. 🙁

    1. User avatar marshall.murray87 says:

      4 stars
I thought the sauce was delicious! Did you follow the recipe exactly? Maybe use more herbs next time?

    2. User avatar tommie.gusikowski says:

      2 stars
Bland? 😲 I dunno, I thought it was just fine. You might have forgot the salt or something?

  31. User avatar jesse.lind89 says:

    1 star
3/10—too plain. No cheese, no cream, no wow. I’m sorry but I just don’t get it. 😅

    1. 4 stars
I get where you’re coming from, but this one is more of a bright, herby “let the gnocchi shine” sauce than a creamy/cheesy situation. The lemon + garlic + fresh basil/parsley is the wow for me—have you tried adding a little parmesan or a knob of butter at the end?

  32. User avatar lavenia.metz56 says:

    4 stars
Not bad, but it needed more sauce. I doubled the olive oil and added a splash of pasta water and it came together much better.

  33. User avatar jesus.greenfelder85 says:

    4 stars
Pretty easy weeknight meal. Next time I’ll add a little parmesan or a splash more lemon—though the garlic flavor was perfect.

  34. User avatar sadie.jast95 says:

    5 stars
Wow, super easy and tastes fancy. 10/10. 😅

  35. User avatar edgar.gerhold66 says:

    3 stars
Is it normal that my gnocchi didn’t float? I thought it was supposed to but they just sunk to the bottom. Help!

  36. User avatar Aide DuBuque says:

    4 stars
Wasn’t sure about the lemon juice, but it actually was a good touch!

  37. User avatar portia.lueilwitz1953 says:

    4 stars
I thought homemade gnocchi was hard to make. I just used store-bought and it turned out fine!

  38. 5 stars
Made this tonight with store-bought gnocchi and it was honestly better than I expected. My garlic didn’t burn and the sauce clung nicely. Will make again.

  39. User avatar henry.schumm says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and it was… kinda bland? Like I could taste lemon but not much else. Maybe my herbs weren’t very fresh. I’ll try adding parmesan next time.

  40. User avatar Magrathean sperm whale says:

    5 stars
Can’t believe how fast this is. The flavors are bright without being heavy. I might try adding pine nuts for texture next time.

    1. User avatar tona.upton31 says:

      5 stars
Yes! The lemon + herbs combo makes it feel so fresh. Pine nuts would be awesome for crunch—do they toast them first? 🌿

    2. User avatar suzanna.moore6 says:

      4 stars
Fast is right, but I think mine needed a little more sauce. Like maybe add some parmesan or more lemon? Also my garlic got a bit too brown but still tasted good lol.

  41. User avatar lou.wisozk7 says:

    5 stars
Wow, this was so easy! My family loved it! Will make again.

  42. User avatar Dominic Vernius says:

    4 stars
Easy peasy! But I think somthing missing…. more meat maybe? 🤔

    1. User avatar anton.metz55 says:

      3 stars
Nah, it’s perfect without meat! It’s a herb pasta, not a meat dish. Suit yourself tho. 🙃

    2. User avatar Fortune Teller says:

      4 stars
I think more meat would just overpower the flavors! The herbs are so nice as they are. 🌿

  43. User avatar hermina.hermiston65 says:

    5 stars
Yum! Olive oil is life. Next time, I’ll try it with parmesan on top! 😍

  44. User avatar juan.abshire64 says:

    4 stars
Gnocchi with herb sauce? YUM! Even my kids liked it, which is rare! A few tweaks and it’s perfect!

  45. User avatar maurine.kilback41 says:

    4 stars
Could be just me, but 1 minute for garlic feels short? I usually sauté longer so it sweetens. Still decent though—nice herb smell.

    1. User avatar Pizpot Gargravarr says:

      4 stars
Yeah I agree—1 minute can be too quick depending on how hot your pan is. I usually give the garlic 2–3 minutes so it turns sweet and not harsh. But your herb note makes me want to try it as written too!

  46. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    3 stars
The lemon juice is a lot—like, 2 tablespoons felt intense. Next time I’ll start with 1 and add more gradually.

  47. User avatar Skeleton says:

    5 stars
Really bright and fresh—love the lemon with the herbs. I used store-bought gnocchi and it still tasted restaurant-y.

  48. User avatar gerard.morissette17 says:

    1 star
Ugh, I don’t get why people love this so much. It was just…meh. The sauce didn’t do anything for me.

  49. User avatar thurman.altenwerth says:

    3 stars
Easy to make but I added too much lemon juice by mistake. So tangy!

  50. User avatar amina.hammes says:

    5 stars
This was delicious! The herb sauce really elevated the dish. Will make again!

  51. User avatar colby.parisian says:

    1 star
This is dumb. How hard can it be to boil things? My grandma makes real food.

    1. User avatar Russell Ingleaves says:

      4 stars
Yeah, but it’s not just boiling. You gotta make the sauce too, right? Seems like you should give it a try before calling it dumb.

    2. 5 stars
I actually think this dish sounds delicious! Sometimes, simple recipes can be the best. Don’t underestimate them!

  52. User avatar Shadout Mapes says:

    3 stars
I don’t know about the lemon juice. Seems weird in a pasta dish. Might just skip it next time.

  53. 4 stars
Very tasty! I didn’t have fresh herbs, so I used dried, and it still turned out great. Thanks for sharing!

  54. 2 stars
I followed it exactly and it came out bland. I think ‘to taste’ salt is doing a lot of work—mine needed way more salt. Otherwise, kinda meh.

  55. User avatar lupe.ratke1979 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good! I think I overcooked the garlic because mine turned a little bitter, but once I adjusted the timing next time it was perfect.

    1. User avatar melony.wintheiser1982 says:

      5 stars
That totally makes sense—garlic can go bitter fast if it goes past fragrant. I usually keep it closer to like 30–45 seconds and lower the heat if I’m nervous. Glad you got it perfect after adjusting!

  56. User avatar Humma Kavula says:

    5 stars
I used store-bought gnocchi and followed steps exactly. Garlic + olive oil smell was amazing, and the basil/parsley combo tasted fresh. Will repeat.

  57. 5 stars
Making this again tonight! Perfect for a quick weeknight meal.

    1. User avatar magaly.langworth40 says:

      5 stars
This recipe is the best! I love how quick it is and the flavors are amazing. Enjoy making it again!

    2. 3 stars
Quick? I don’t know. Gnocchi is kinda tricky to get right! But good luck!

  58. User avatar taunya.mcdermott61 says:

    5 stars
This gnocchi recipe is fantastic! I added some cherry tomatoes and it was heavenly! 🌟

  59. 2 stars
I mean, it’s just pasta, right? Not that exciting tbh. But it did fill me up.

  60. 3 stars
This was alright, but I thought it lacked flavor. Maybe next time I’ll add more herbs or something?

  61. User avatar ralph.rolfson1951 says:

    2 stars
Gnocchi turned out mushy. Not sure if I did it right. Followed the instructions!

  62. User avatar halflife4 says:

I don’t really like gnocchi, thought it would taste different. Not for me.

  63. User avatar peggy.cummerata1981 says:

    3 stars
I think gnocchi is supposed to be soft? Mine turned out kinda hard… idk why.

  64. User avatar ivette.hansen says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this gnocchi recipe! The herb sauce made it so fresh and delicious. Will definitely make again!

    1. 5 stars
I’m glad to hear you loved it! The herb sauce really does elevate it. What other dishes do you like to make?

  65. User avatar twyla.hickle says:

    5 stars
This recipe is so easy and delicious! Loved the fresh herbs.

    1. 5 stars
I totally agree! The fresh herbs add such a nice flavor. This is now my go-to recipe for gnocchi!

    2. 3 stars
Really? I found it kinda bland. Maybe I used too few herbs? But honestly, I expected more from a herb sauce.

  66. User avatar simone.oconner says:

    2 stars
I don’t get the hype—lemon + herbs on gnocchi sounds okay but mine tasted kinda sour. Maybe my lemons were extra acidic? Would try again with less lemon juice.

  67. User avatar patrick.wyman says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight—simple and super fresh tasting. The lemon really brightens it, and the basil/parsley combo is perfect. Next time I’ll add a little parmesan on top.

    1. User avatar Bill Foldes says:

      3 stars
I tried it but I think my lemon was too weak or my herbs were bland? Still okay, but mine felt kinda… plain. Also I used dried basil/parsley and maybe that’s why. Anyone add cheese or something to make it richer?

    2. 5 stars
Yes!! I made this too and the lemon is seriously the key. Fresh herbs + garlic makes it taste so “restored” 😂. I didn’t even think to top with parmesan though—next time!

  68. User avatar Arwen Evenstar says:

    4 stars
This is dangerously easy. I could see eating a whole skillet and pretending it’s a meal prep plan.

  69. User avatar jude.romaguera58 says:

Couldn’t find gnocchi at the store so I used rigatoni instead. Didn’t turn out as expected. Next time, I’ll keep looking.

    1. User avatar rafael.kling says:

      4 stars
You should really try to find the gnocchi next time! It’s totally different. Rigatoni isn’t the same, but hey, at least you tried something new! 🙌

  70. User avatar stanley.barrows says:

    5 stars
I was skeptical about how “simple” it is, but wow. The garlic oil coating is key. I added a pinch of chili flakes too and it worked great.

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan Trunks says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—“simple” doesn’t mean boring. The garlic oil step really makes it. I’ve never tried chili flakes, but now I want to!

  71. User avatar Pasta Fasta says:

    3 stars
Kinda plain for my taste. I think it needs more flavor or spice. Maybe some red pepper flakes next time?

    1. 2 stars
Nah, I think the simplicity is what makes it good. Too much spice can ruin the flavor of the herbs.

    2. User avatar ute.morissette91 says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! A little heat would elevate this dish for sure. Red pepper flakes sound perfect!

  72. User avatar anastasia.stehr24 says:

    5 stars
This was so easy and delicious! I’ve never made gnocchi before, but this recipe made me feel like a chef. Will definitely make again!

  73. User avatar loralee.mckenzie75 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but mine came out a little too garlicky (maybe I minced too fine?). Next time I’ll sauté the garlic closer to 30 seconds and taste as I go.

    1. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—garlic can go from “nice” to “too much” really fast. Minced super fine cooks quicker, so your 30-second tweak sounds spot on. Next time I’d also lower the heat a bit.

  74. 1 star
Sorry but lemon juice in pasta?? I tried it and it was sour. Maybe my lemons were too strong or I just don’t like this vibe.

  75. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

    2 stars
I messed up and added the lemon juice before sautéing the garlic… it still tasted okay but not as “fresh.” Cooking order matters, y’all.

  76. User avatar shandra.gulgowski says:

    2 stars
The garlic step says 1 minute… mine went a little too far and got bitter. Lesson learned: medium heat, stay nearby. Still edible, just not wow.

  77. 1 star
Whu not just use jar sauce? That herb stuff seems like too much work

    1. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      4 stars
I get it, jar sauce is easy! But this herb sauce is so fresh and tasty, it’s worth the extra effort. Plus, it’s not that hard! Just chop some herbs and mix it up!

  78. 5 stars
Just made this—super fresh and bright. The lemon really wakes up the gnocchi, and the basil/parsley combo is perfect. I added a tiny splash of pasta water too and it got extra silky.

  79. User avatar theodora.swift58 says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight—so bright and fresh. The lemon juice really wakes up the garlic oil, and the basil/parsley combo is perfect. I used store-bought gnocchi and still felt fancy.

  80. 2 stars
Why do people always add lemon to everything? I get it’s good, but here it overpowered the herbs for me. Still edible though.

  81. 3 stars
Tasty but kinda basic. Wish I added some cheese or something, ya know?

  82. User avatar patrice.mayer53 says:

    3 stars
I followed it, but my sauce felt a bit thin. Maybe I needed to reduce the lemon juice longer? Still good though.

    1. 5 stars
Oof yeah, thin sauce happens. If you give the lemon a little more time to cook down (or add a splash of pasta water), it’ll cling better to the gnocchi. Glad it was still tasty though!

I like how simple it is. I used store-bought gnocchi and followed the package timing; tossing in the garlic oil helped a lot with flavor. Would make again.

One word: delicious! 😄 I didn’t even have parsley so I used spinach instead and it worked. Gnocchi floating = correct timing.

Simple but really bright—lemon + herbs totally makes the store-bought gnocchi taste fancy. I used a little extra pepper and it was perfect.

  86. 4 stars
Really good weeknight meal. I used store-bought gnocchi and it still tasted homemade. Next time I might add a bit of parmesan, but overall 10/10 for how fast it is.

Hmm, never heard of putting parsley in gnocchi. Are we sure that’s right? Anyway, it turned out okay. Not my fave.

  89. User avatar Siona Atreides says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I thought it needed more sauce. Next time I’ll add a splash of pasta water or a bit of butter to make it creamier.

  90. User avatar Spider Guardian says:

Super quick and fresh tasting! The lemon + herbs combo makes the gnocchi feel way lighter than usual. I added a little chili flakes too—highly recommend.

  91. User avatar Miss Ned Hill says:

I’m skeptical of anything that’s “simple” and claims to be great, but wow. It’s fast and actually tastes like restaurant food. Next time I’ll try adding a tiny pinch of chili flakes.

  92. 3 stars
I dont have fresh herbs, only dried. I tried anyway—tasted kinda flat. The lemon helped, but fresh basil/parsley is key.

    1. User avatar Tom Bombadil says:

      5 stars
That makes sense—dried herbs can taste flatter, and fresh basil/parsley really bring the brightness here. If you only have dried, I’d start with about 1–2 tsp total and add it a bit earlier with the garlic (so it blooms), then adjust lemon/salt at the end.

  93. 2 stars
Too oily for my taste. Maybe use less oil? 🤷‍♂️

Gnocchi is soooo good! I just threw in some extra veggies and it worked great. 10/10 would eat again!

    1. 5 stars
I love gnocchi too! Adding veggies is a great idea. What kind did you use?

Not sure about the lemon juice in this. It tasted weird to me. Maybe too much? 🤔

  96. User avatar nia.nitzsche84 says:

This is basically olive oil + herbs, right? Not bad, just not “wow” level. Also I didn’t have fresh basil so I used dried and it turned out kinda meh.

    1. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

      3 stars
Not gonna lie, mine was also kinda “meh” once with dried basil… I think dried needs more lemon or more garlic or something. But fresh basil is expensive so I just use like half the amount of dried and add it near the end. Otherwise it tastes like salad seasoning 😅

    2. User avatar dallas.weimann2013 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean—it’s definitely not a “grand sauce,” it’s more like garlic-olive oil with lemon and herbs. Fresh basil helps a lot though. Dried basil can be a bit flat, so maybe use a little less and give it a quick bloom in the hot oil next time?

Made this tonight and it was bright and herby—lemon really wakes up the gnocchi. Super quick too!

I made it but mine wasn’t as “bright” maybe I used too much garlic? Also I forgot to salt the water at first 😅 still good though—quick dinner win.

  98. 4 stars
Store-bought gnocchi is underrated. This was fast, and the herbs made it feel like I tried harder than I did 😅

  99. 5 stars
This is one of those recipes that feels fancy for how little effort it is. My picky roommate went back for seconds.

Totally agree—this tastes restaurant-y with almost no work. Quick tip: I add a splash of pasta water when tossing the gnocchi so the herb sauce clings even better. Also your lemon measurement is spot on; I do the same and it brightens everything up.

I was skeptical about store-bought gnocchi, but tossing it in the garlic oil worked great. I did use a bit more pepper than the recipe and it turned out yummy.

I always thought gnocchi needed some kinda sauce from scratch… but tossing it in garlic oil sounds way easier. Did you boil it less time than the package? Mine sometimes turns mushy.

    2. User avatar patrick.bode13 says:

Okay but YES—store-bought gnocchi can totally be a win. The garlic oil step really is the magic. 😄 Next time I’m going to be brave with extra pepper too.

I think gnocchi need a thicker sauce. This was just herbs and oil. Kinda plain. But it was alright.

Hmmm… I don’t like lemon in my pasta. It was too tangy for me, but I guess others might like it.

I get what you’re saying. Lemon can be hit or miss. Maybe you could just leave it out next time? I love the herbs though!

Made this tonight—super quick and the lemon + herbs totally makes it taste bright, not heavy. Used store-bought gnocchi and it still felt fancy.

    1. 5 stars
Yes! I love that bright lemon + herbs vibe—makes it feel lighter than it sounds. And using store-bought gnocchi is totally fine; this recipe really does taste fancy for how fast it is.

  111. User avatar rosena.oconner35 says:

My kids asked for seconds, which never happens with “greens” recipes. I’m calling it a win.

5/5 would not recommend if you’re trying to be healthy—olive oil + carbs = instant couch potato behavior 😅

This recipe is so easy and delicious! I used homemade gnocchi and my family loved it. 5 stars!

I’m not usually a fan of lemon with pasta but… wow. It’s like a zesty herb oil. Would absolutely make again for a weeknight.

The floating gnocchi step is accurate, but I waited a little too long and they got soft. Garlic smelled great though. Timing matters!

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—floating is a great sign, but if you wait too long they go mushy fast. Glad the garlic still smelled amazing though!

    2. 3 stars
Hmm I dunno… I always cook mine til they float then like 3 more minutes, and they turn out “soft” but kinda good? Maybe I like it better that way. Also garlic can burn if the pan hot, so watch it.

  117. User avatar Margorie Lebsack says:

Not bad at all. I didn’t have fresh basil/parsley so I used what I had (dried). It was… okay? Honestly the gnocchi carried it.
