A rich and flavorful whiskey sauce perfect for enhancing meats, desserts, or other dishes.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whiskey Use a good quality whiskey for best flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half for a lighter sauce.
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract for best flavor.
  • 1 tbsp butter Unsalted, to control the salt in the sauce.

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whiskey and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, continuing to stir thoroughly.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving. It will thicken as it cools.

    Whiskey for a sauce? Is that even safe for kids? I don’t get why you’d cook with alcohol like this. Just stick to ketchup, it’s better.
