Ingredients
- 1 cup whiskey Use a good quality whiskey for best flavor.
- 1 cup brown sugar Packed.
- 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half for a lighter sauce.
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract for best flavor.
- 1 tbsp butter Unsalted, to control the salt in the sauce.
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whiskey and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, continuing to stir thoroughly.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving. It will thicken as it cools.
