Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef round steak
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Cut beef into serving-sized pieces.
  • In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, and black pepper. Dredge the beef pieces in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the beef pieces and brown on both sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, basil, and oregano to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  • Return the beef to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
