Garlic and Parmesan Kale Chips

September 10, 2025

Garlic and Parmesan kale chips are a snack that manages to feel indulgent while still being wholesome. Kale, often praised as a superfood, takes on a whole new life when transformed into crisp, golden bites. The process of baking turns its slightly bitter flavor into something mellow and nutty, while the addition of garlic and Parmesan makes it irresistible. These chips are a perfect example of how simple ingredients can come together to create something far greater than the sum of their parts.

What makes them so appealing is their contrast in texture and taste. Fresh kale leaves, once baked, become airy and light yet still manage to deliver a satisfying crunch. The garlic lends a savory depth, filling the kitchen with an inviting aroma as they roast. Parmesan adds richness and a salty bite that complements the kale perfectly, creating a snack that is both comforting and flavorful. It’s a healthier alternative to traditional chips, but without any sense of compromise. In fact, many people discover that they prefer these to the store-bought versions once they’ve tried them fresh from the oven.

The versatility of garlic and Parmesan kale chips also makes them a favorite for different occasions. They can be served casually in a bowl for a movie night, or placed in a pretty dish as part of a party spread. Beyond being a snack, they work well as a crunchy topping for soups or salads, adding both texture and flavor. Their lightness means you can enjoy them without feeling weighed down, and the Parmesan coating gives them just enough richness to feel special.

Another advantage is that these chips fit beautifully into a balanced lifestyle. They’re naturally packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, making them a smart choice for anyone looking to add more greens to their diet in a fun way. Yet despite their nutritional value, they never taste like “health food.” Instead, they deliver a punch of flavor that keeps you reaching for more. Garlic and Parmesan kale chips prove that snacks can be both nourishing and delicious, a winning combination that’s hard to resist. Whether you’re entertaining or simply satisfying a craving, they always deliver.

Garlic and kale? Sounds weird. Who even eats kale chips? But I tried this and it’s surprisingly tasty. Who knew?

    Yuk. Just…. no.

Kale? No thanks. I like my chips regular, like potato ones. This is just a fad for health people.

    1. User avatar melvin.volkman96 says:

I used to think kale was weird too, but these chips are actually pretty good! You might be surprised if you give them a try!

  4. User avatar curtis.collins says:

These are the best! I can’t believe something this healthy can taste so great. Will make again!

I totally agree! These chips are so crunchy and tasty. I was surprised how easy they were to make too!

  5. 2 stars
Yuck. I was expecting crunchy snacks like chips, but these were all soggy! Maybe I did something wrong. Not sure if I’ll try again.

    1. 3 stars
I had the same problem once! I think baking them longer might help. Just keep an eye on them so they don’t burn. 😅

    2. User avatar taisha.stiedemann says:

      4 stars
Sorry to hear that! It’s important to let them cool a bit, that’s when they get crunchy. Maybe try again and give them more time? 😊

  6. 3 stars
I tried to make these but used regular cheese instead of Parmesan. They tasted okay, but not crunchy enough. Guess I need to follow the recipe better!

    1. User avatar jarvis.heathcote1972 says:

      4 stars
Yeah, Parmesan is key for the crunch! Don’t beat yourself up, maybe give it another shot? It might turn out amazing next time!

    2. User avatar rich.landlord says:

      3 stars
Regular cheese? I think that’s why they weren’t crunchy. Parmesan has that special flavor and texture. Try again!

  7. 5 stars
I added some cayenne pepper for a kick. Super good! Gotta try it!

  8. 3 stars
Tried this recipe, but I think I overcooked them a bit. Still edible tho! Next time I’ll keep an eye on them.

  9. 1 star
Kale is just grass, I don’t get why people rave about it. Pass.

  10. User avatar lester.cronin says:

    4 stars
Tasty but I think my kale wasn’t thin enough—some pieces stayed chewy. Next time I’ll tear smaller and cook a couple minutes longer.

  11. User avatar sergio.douglas says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but the Parmesan clumps if the kale isn’t fully dry. Learned that the hard way lol.

    1. User avatar donella.mclaughlin85 says:

      5 stars
Omg same—mine turned into weird cheesy patches when I didn’t dry the kale enough 😂 Now I pat it forever and it works way better.

  12. User avatar major.brekke69 says:

    5 stars
Yum! I love making healthy snacks, these are perfect! My kids even liked them!

  13. 1 star
I don’t see why people like this. Just tastes like crunchy old leaves to me. Not for me. Gimme some potato chips anyday.

  14. User avatar Gaius Helen Mohiam says:

    4 stars
I couldn’t find garlic powder, so I used fresh garlic slivers. Still worked!

  15. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    4 stars
Loved the garlic flavor! So much better than regular chips. I used brussel sprouts instead tho! 😂

  16. User avatar ray.dickinson77 says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly but the Parmesan mostly clumped instead of spreading evenly. Taste was good, texture was weird. Next time I’ll mix the cheese with the oil first maybe.

  17. User avatar beula.beer1987 says:

    2 stars
I burnt them. 😭 Maybe I need to watch them closer next time? Praise the heavens for kale chips!

  18. User avatar Cassaundra Huel says:

    3 stars
My oven runs hot, so mine started browning fast. 15 minutes was too long for me—more like 10-12. Otherwise delicious.

  19. 5 stars
Best thing ever. Simple ingredients but oh so good. You need to try this!

  20. 4 stars
I hate kale but my kids devoured these. Weirdly tasty. I did add a tiny bit of lemon zest and it made it pop.

  21. User avatar violeta.rohan2022 says:

Followed the recipe to the letter but they came out soggy. What did I do wrong? 🤔

  22. 5 stars
These came out super crispy for me—like actual chips. The garlic powder + Parmesan combo is dangerously good. Will make again.

  23. 5 stars
So easy to make. I gobbled them up in no time. Thanks!

  24. 5 stars
These were super delicious! I can’t believe how easy they are to make. I’ve made them twice already! 😊

Great recipe! I used pre-grated Parmesan and it still worked, but next time I’ll grate fresh for better melt/cheese flavor.

  26. 5 stars
Kale chips over potato chips any day. These are way healthier and delish!

  27. 5 stars
These are amazing! I made them for a party and they were gone in minutes. Will definitely make again!

  28. 5 stars
omg these r amazin taste crunchy and like chips. Will make every day for snacks 🥳

  29. User avatar claude.mcclure47 says:

I don’t like kale, but my kids did! They thought it was a fun snack. I still think it’s weird tho.

    1. 4 stars
Kale’s not for everyone, but glad your kids liked it! Maybe try seasoning differently next time?

  30. 2 stars
This recipe sounds cheap and easy but also kinda weird. Who eats kale like this?

  31. User avatar Ervin Leuschke says:

    1 star
Kale is so overrated. I tried making these and they just tasted like burnt leaves. Never again! 👎

    1. User avatar Wellington Yueh says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! Kale chips can be hit or miss. Maybe try a different seasoning next time?

    2. User avatar herschel.murray says:

      2 stars
Nah, burnt leaves are not it. Just use less time in the oven, seriously.

  32. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

Nice recipe! I added some cayenne for a kick. Got my friends raving!

  33. User avatar jin.schulist2016 says:

Are you serious? Parmesan and kale? Sounds like a bad lunch from high school to me.

    1. 5 stars
I think you’re missing out! Kale chips with Parmesan are amazing! They might sound weird but trust me, they’re tasty!

  34. User avatar tyson.harber1989 says:

    2 stars
I don’t think kale can ever replace regular chips. This was disappointing.

    1. 4 stars
I totally get where you’re coming from! Kale chips just don’t hit the same way as regular chips do. They are a nice alternative tho! 😅

    2. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

      5 stars
But have you tried making them yourself? They can be crunchy and tasty if done right! Might surprise you! 💚

  35. 5 stars
Kale is sooo good for you! Better than potato chips! Totally recommend this recipe! 💚

  36. 5 stars
Wow. Like real chips but healthier! I love kale. Super easy recipe, will make again. Thanks for sharing!

  37. 5 stars
I’m obsessed with anything crunchy, so yeah… these slap. 300°F is the right temp. Mine crisped more after cooling like the recipe said.

  38. 4 stars
My first time making kale chips and it went well! Gonna make it again!

  39. 4 stars
So easy and delish! My kids loved helping me make these. Who knew kale could be fun?

  40. User avatar Koume and Kotake says:

    3 stars
I don’t like parmesan, so I used cheddar. It was okay but not the same.

    1. User avatar sydney.frami81 says:

      4 stars
Cheddar sounds interesting, but it won’t give you that umami flavor that Parmesan brings. Maybe try nutritional yeast next time!

    2. User avatar warner.nienow says:

      2 stars
I dunno, cheddar is just too strong. Parmesan is the way to go for kale chips. 🤷‍♂️

  41. User avatar analisa.satterfield says:

    5 stars
These kale chips are a game changer! So crispy and tasty! 5 stars for sure!

  42. User avatar Ice Wraith says:

    2 stars
I tried this, but my chips burned even though I followed the time. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe my oven is too hot? Not sure I’ll try again.

    1. User avatar sharan.shields says:

      4 stars
I’m sorry to hear that! Sometimes ovens can be finicky. Maybe try lowering the temp a bit next time? I love these chips! 🤗

  43. 4 stars
Super crunchy! I added some chili powder for a kick. So good!

  44. 5 stars
These turned out way crispier than I expected! The Parmesan + garlic combo is legit. I’ll definitely make them again for movie nights.

  45. 5 stars
These kale chips are amazing! I couldn’t believe how easy they were to make. I added some chili flakes for extra kick and they were delicious!

  46. User avatar loren.kuvalis86 says:

    3 stars
Isn’t 300°F kinda low? I usually bake at 400° for chips. But they turned out ok.

    1. User avatar yahaira.gerlach says:

      5 stars
I think 300°F is good for kale chips! They get crunchy but don’t burn easily. Maybe try it next time?

  47. User avatar chassidy.cruickshank says:

    2 stars
The oven is too hot, my chips burned. It said 300 but my oven is weird!

  48. User avatar Darren Herzog V says:

    4 stars
The instructions say tear into bite-sized pieces but mine were all diffrent sizes, and the small ones got crunchy fast. Flavor still great.

  49. User avatar rosina.streich2002 says:

    4 stars
My mom thought these were awful. But I liked them, so idk lol. Great recipe for a snack.

  50. 4 stars
300°F for 15 min felt a bit short, I think. I’d start checking around 10–12 minutes next time so they don’t go from golden to burnt.

  51. 4 stars
I don’t have garlic powder so I used minced garlic. It tasted good but it might’ve been too strong—less next time. Recipe’s solid though.

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
Good call swapping in minced garlic! Garlic can definitely hit harder than garlic powder, so your “less next time” instinct is spot on. Glad the recipe still came out solid 😊

  52. 3 stars
I don’t know about eating kale. Seems weird. But my sister loved these chips. Guess they are good for some people.

  53. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    2 stars
Mine got burnt 🙁 followed the instructions perfectly. Maybe my oven temp is off? Not sure but they tasted bitter. Gonna try again.

  54. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    1 star
Not for me. I don’t get why people rave about kale. It tastes like grass. Yuck!

  55. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    3 stars
Garlic powder? I thought you meant fresh garlic. 🙄 Shoulda known better. Still tastes ok but different flavor.

  56. User avatar sanjuana.hudson says:

    5 stars
These are amazing! I made them for a movie night and they were a hit. Definitely a keeper.

  57. User avatar terrell.muller says:

    4 stars
Really good recipe! I added some cayenne for a kick. Will make again. Thanks for sharing!

  58. User avatar loan.osinski5 says:

    4 stars
Solid recipe, simple and tasty. I used a little less salt and they were still great. Would recommend drying the kale extra well—mine got crispier after I squeezed the leaves dry.

  59. User avatar cleveland.donnelly2015 says:

    5 stars
    So easy. Delicious. 👍

  60. User avatar buck.mcdermott says:

    5 stars
    YUM!

  61. 5 stars
These kale chips are AMAZING! I can’t believe how simple they are to make. Definitely a new favorite!

  62. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

    4 stars
300°F seems low? I did 325 and they browned faster. Also, I used grated Romano instead of Parmesan (same vibe). Turned out alright!

  63. User avatar shin.rutherford34 says:

    2 stars
I don’t have kale, so I used spinach… it turned into kinda sad chips. Guess that’s on me though 😅

  64. User avatar natosha.krajcik10 says:

    4 stars
300°F for 15 minutes didn’t work on my setup. I had to raise the time, but once I did they were perfect. Good recipe, just oven-dependent.

  65. 4 stars
Tasty, but mine burned a tiny bit at the edges even at 15 minutes. Next time I’ll start checking at 10.

    1. User avatar nicholas.kessler says:

      5 stars
Good call on checking earlier—kale chips can brown fast depending on oven hot spots and how dry the leaves are. I usually go closer to 10–12 minutes and pull them once the edges look set.

  66. User avatar prairie dog says:

    5 stars
The seasoning ratio felt spot on. I’m picky about garlic powder and it was not overpowering.

  67. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, my oven runs hot. I burnt my first tray. Still, the second one at 300°F was perfect once I watched it like a hawk.

    1. 3 stars
300°F for 15 min sounds kinda low? Mine would never crisp at that temp unless I did like 400° and kept the door cracked. Still, if your oven runs hot then makes sense.

    2. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      5 stars
Totally relate—my oven is also a drama queen. Watching them like a hawk is the only way. I’ve learned “edges brown” means “pull early,” haha.

  68. 4 stars
Kale? Really? I thought this was gonna be gross but it actually turned out pretty good! Never thought I’d say I like kale chips.

    1. User avatar garrett.kiehn says:

      2 stars
Kale? Isn’t that the stuff rabbits eat? I don’t believe it could be good!

    2. 5 stars
I never thought kale could taste good either! These chips are a game changer. Who knew? 😄

  69. 1 star
Kale chips are bad for you. Just eat real chips. This is a waste of time.

  70. 4 stars
Crisped up nicely, but mine were a little bitter—next time I’ll dry the kale even better. Still super tasty.

  71. 1 star
    Eh… kale is kale.

    1. 4 stars
Honestly, fair point 😄 Kale is kale… but these chips actually make it taste way better. Parmesan + garlic helps a ton.

    2. User avatar cammie.oberbrunner47 says:

      3 stars
lol i tried kale chips once and they burned in like 7 minutes. 300°F for 15 min seems risky, my oven runs hot 😅 but if you keep an eye on them, maybe worth it.

  72. 4 stars
One question: do you really need to preheat the oven? I skipped it once and they were soggy. So yeah, definitely do it.

    1. User avatar afton.batz says:

      5 stars
Yes—preheating really matters. If the oven starts cold, the kale steams instead of crisping, and you get soggy chips. Also drying the kale well is key.

  73. User avatar elizebeth.runolfsdottir96 says:

    5 stars
Crunchy and seriously addictive. I didn’t measure perfectly, but the olive oil + parm combo worked wonders. Next time I’ll try adding a pinch of chili flakes.

  74. User avatar rocky.cruickshank1983 says:

    3 stars
Mine came out kinda chewy, not crunchy. I probably under-baked and didn’t cool long enough. Still tasted good though, just not chip-level.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—kale chips are super picky about time + drying. If they were chewy, I’d try baking a couple minutes longer and *really* letting them cool on the tray (even 10–15). Also make sure the kale is fully dry; water = softness.

  75. User avatar roxana.schultz says:

    4 stars
Could be healthier, but I guess everything is relative. Still, the chips are salty and crunchy, which I can’t argue with.

    1. 4 stars
Yeah, I get you—kale chips are “healthier” than regular chips, but the salt is definitely doing the most. I’ve started cutting the salt in half and they still come out crunchy, just less intense. Also make sure the kale is super dry; otherwise they don’t crisp as well.

  76. User avatar Warner Halvorson says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and they came out a little chewy, not chip-crispy. Maybe my kale wasn’t dry enough? Still tasty though.

  77. User avatar roger.schmidt1981 says:

    5 stars
These are super crunchy—like legit snack food. My kids stole them and asked for more, so that’s a win.

    1. User avatar cletus.kuhlman41 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! That “snack food” crunch is the best part—my oven actually does the same thing. I always make sure the kale is totally dry and don’t overcrowd the pan, or they come out kinda chewy.

  78. User avatar jenise.flatley1954 says:

    3 stars
Way too salty for my taste—maybe reduce the salt next time. Still good texture.

    1. User avatar sabine.jakubowski says:

      5 stars
Ahh good to know! I’ll try cutting the salt in half next batch—glad the texture stayed crispy though.

    2. 4 stars
Maybe your Parmesan was extra salty? I’ve been using salted Parm and it gets kinda briny fast. But the crunch is legit.

  79. 5 stars
Garlic! Parmesan! Crunchy goodness! Love it, love it, love it!!

  80. User avatar lucas.skiles1970 says:

    3 stars
Mine came out a little bitter because I probably didn’t dry the leaves enough. Still tasty though, just more like “crispy kale” than full chips.

    1. User avatar ivory.bernhard says:

      4 stars
I get it… mine was kinda bitter once too. Maybe I didn’t dry enough like you. But honestly, crispy kale is still way better than nothing 😅 Might also be the salt/Parmesan ratio? Idk.

    2. User avatar faye.bartoletti says:

      5 stars
Ahh that makes sense—kale can get bitter if it isn’t fully dry or if it doesn’t crisp fast enough. Next time try drying longer (or even a quick pat + low spin) and make sure the oven is hot enough for browning.

  81. User avatar camie.bechtelar1993 says:

    5 stars
These came out super crispy! I made sure the kale was really dry and didn’t crowd the pan—big difference.

  82. User avatar margarito.blanda68 says:

    4 stars
I wasn’t a fan of kale before, but this recipe changed my mind! So crunchy and flavorful!

  83. 3 stars
I followed it exactly, but my chips came out chewy 😕. I think my oven runs hot. Maybe should bake longer?

  84. User avatar barton.rodriguez says:

    4 stars
Honestly I’m skeptical of “chips” from kale… but wow. The seasoning ratio is solid and the edges browning tip helped.

  85. User avatar carlyn.little1990 says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about oven kale chips but the parmesan makes it. The smell while baking is amazing.

  86. User avatar Frost Atronach says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and they turned out okay, but the Parmesan didn’t stick that well on mine. Maybe I over-oiled or under-mixed?

  87. 5 stars
These were dangerously addictive. The edges got nice and crisp and the garlic-parm combo is legit. I might add a pinch of chili flakes next time.

  88. User avatar roxanne.padberg94 says:

    4 stars
Great flavor, but mine needed like 20 minutes at my oven. Otherwise the edges weren’t brown enough. Still, super tasty.

  89. User avatar terrance.brown81 says:

    5 stars
These were dangerously good. I dried the kale extra well and they actually stayed crisp even after sitting a bit. Parmesan + garlic powder is a perfect combo.

    1. 5 stars
Right?? I always mess up kale chips by not drying it enough, but your method sounds spot on. I’m trying this combo next—parmesan + garlic powder really is elite.

  90. User avatar Jared Jacobi PhD says:

    5 stars
    1 word: Amazing.

  91. 5 stars
These are dangerously good. I baked mine a minute or two longer and they finally browned right—crispy edges for days. Love the Parmesan + garlic combo.

  92. User avatar pat.steuber78 says:

    2 stars
I think it taste weird. My kids wouldn’t even touch them. Not sure what the hype is about.

    1. User avatar Daedric Prince says:

      3 stars
Weird? Nah, it’s just healthy! Maybe your kids need to try ’em again. They are crispy and good for you!

    2. User avatar rebbeca.sporer73 says:

I’m sorry to hear that! Kale chips can be hit or miss, especially with kids. Maybe try adding some more cheese or seasoning next time?

  93. User avatar jeremy.wilkinson1983 says:

    3 stars
Easy to make! But I added too much salt, my bad. Still good tho!

  94. User avatar Random Dent says:

    4 stars
I love kale chips, but 300°F seems low. Mine took more like 25 minutes to brown. Not mad though.

  95. User avatar adan.rowe1977 says:

    4 stars
Tried exactly as written—came out good, but mine were a little too salty. Next time I’ll cut the salt in half and keep an eye on the oven since kale burns fast.

  96. User avatar rosaria.reilly38 says:

    4 stars
Simple and actually works—just make sure the kale is super dry or it turns more into “sad kale snacks” than chips. Mine stuck a bit, but flavor was great.

  97. User avatar felton.zieme95 says:

    3 stars
My chips turned out a little chewy instead of crispy. I think I overcrowded the pan and didn’t dry the kale enough. Still tasty though.

    1. User avatar Phillip Homenick says:

      5 stars
Ugh, I’ve had that happen when I don’t fully dry the kale—chewy usually means there’s still moisture. And yeah, overcrowding kills the crisp. Next time try baking on two trays if you have to, and pat the kale super dry (even a quick spin in a salad spinner helps).

    2. User avatar bettie.rice38 says:

      4 stars
Maybe your oven temp runs low? 300°F is kinda gentle, so if they aren’t getting enough heat, they can stay chewy. I usually bump it to 325-350°F and flip/shuffle the leaves halfway. Either way, if they still taste good, that’s a win lol.

  98. User avatar nickolas.schmidt says:

    2 stars
Honestly… kale is kale. It’s fine, but I’d rather eat real chips. Still, the Parmesan smell is nice.

    1. User avatar karen.kassulke2025 says:

      4 stars
Totally get that—kale chips aren’t “real chips,” but these hit the crunchy-salty vibe. The Parmesan smell is the whole trick, honestly.

    2. User avatar serena.bartoletti says:

      2 stars
Idk… I tried kale chips once and they came out soggy. Also 300°F seems low? Maybe my oven runs hot. I’d rather just fry some tortillas or something.

  99. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    5 stars
300°F for 15 min worked, but I had to rotate the pan halfway. I also patted the kale dry extra and it made a huge difference.

  100. User avatar shanti.upton says:

    5 stars
These turned out way better than I expected! Crispy edges, cheesy flavor, and the garlic really pops. I’ll definitely make them again—next time I’ll keep a closer eye at 300°F.

  101. User avatar elliott.crist2009 says:

    4 stars
These were good, but mine went from “edges brown” to “oops burnt” in like 10 minutes. I think my oven runs hot. Still tasted great though!

  102. User avatar abraham.sawayn12 says:

    5 stars
    One word: wow.

  103. User avatar Orange Dartwing says:

    4 stars
I love that it’s simple and doesn’t require a fancy air fryer. Great guilt-free snack!

  104. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    3 stars
Mine didn’t get super crispy… more like baked kale chips that were kinda chewy. I think my oven runs hot or I didn’t bake long enough. Still tasty though, garlic-parmesan is a win.

  105. User avatar Zarniwoop says:

    3 stars
Mine turned out kinda sad and chewy, not chips. I think I didn’t dry the kale enough. Also I used pre-shredded parm and maybe that didn’t melt the same.

  106. User avatar Effrafax of Wug says:

    4 stars
I thought 300°F would be too low, but nope. 15 minutes was pretty much perfect for my oven. Next time I’ll try smoked pepper.

  107. User avatar Ryan Shenlong says:

    2 stars
I don’t get kale chips. They taste like… sad lettuce. BUT I admit the Parmesan smell is good. 2 stars for effort.

  108. 2 stars
Garlic powder isn’t my fave for kale—feels kinda flat. Maybe fresh garlic would be better? I also couldn’t get them fully crisp even after cooling.

    1. User avatar boyce.ohara1991 says:

      3 stars
Mine never gets fully crisp either unless I keep cooking like… longer? I think the parmesan turns kinda soggy if it’s not the real dry kind. I used garlic salt once and it was way too strong so I stopped. Still tastes good though lol

    2. User avatar teri.hudson says:

      5 stars
Totally agree about the garlic powder—fresh garlic (or even garlic *paste*) would probably give it more punch. Also 300°F for 15 min might not be enough depending on your oven and how dry the kale is. Did you flip them halfway?

  109. User avatar caprice.wilkinson12 says:

    4 stars
My Parmesan clumped a bit, so some bites were cheesier than others, lol. But overall really flavorful and crunchy.

    1. User avatar Beregond says:

      5 stars
Haha that makes sense—Parmesan gets all melty and clumpy if the kale isn’t perfectly dry. I love that they still turned out flavorful though! Next time I might sprinkle the cheese in smaller pinches while tossing.

  110. User avatar jan.herzog says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I’m not convinced kale chips are ever really “chips.” The flavor is nice, just a little salty for my taste. Would cut the salt in half.

  111. User avatar derek.murray says:

    5 stars
These are dangerously snackable. I actually had trouble not eating the whole tray before they cooled. Parmesan + garlic is a perfect combo!

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—once they start getting crispy it’s basically impossible to stop 😅. I ended up snackin’ through the whole tray too. Great flavor combo with the parm + garlic!

    2. User avatar lola.schamberger4 says:

      3 stars
I dunno… mine came out a little chewy even after 15 minutes. I wonder if my kale wasn’t dry enough? Still tasted good though—would try again.

  112. 4 stars
I tried making them on a convection setting and they browned way faster. Next batch I’ll lower the time—maybe 12 min total.

    1. User avatar leann.daugherty says:

      4 stars
Dang, I always mess up kale chips 😅 I think 12 min might be perfect. Also make sure the kale is SUPER dry or they’ll steam instead of crisp.

    2. User avatar lawrence.marquardt1956 says:

      5 stars
Yes! Convection runs hotter/more airflow, so they can brown fast. I’ve had to cut the time down and also keep an eye on the edges around 8–10 minutes.

  113. User avatar mao.skiles12 says:

    4 stars
300°F seems low? I expected higher temp to crisp quicker, but they still worked. I probably should’ve used thinner pieces.

    1. User avatar Loonquawl says:

      3 stars
Idk why everyone thinks it’s low 😅 Mine crisp best at like 350. But hey—if yours still worked then yeah, maybe just spread them thinner.

    2. User avatar Dremora Lord says:

      4 stars
300°F sounds low to me too, but I’ve had success with it—low and slow helps the kale dry out without burning. Thinner pieces definitely crisp faster though.

  114. 2 stars
I’m skeptical of “chips” made in an oven at 300°F. Also Parmesan burns fast—mine got a little too dark. Tasty but watch the time.

    1. User avatar darryl.deckow50 says:

      4 stars
Totally get the skepticism—300°F feels too low for “chips.” I tried it anyway and yeah, you have to bake a bit longer than 15 min depending on how thick the leaves are. Parmesan can go from perfect to burned FAST.

    2. User avatar salvatore.pfannerstill14 says:

      3 stars
I was like, 300? but it worked for me. I didnt dry the kale super good tho and mine got a little chewy. Next time I’m gonna be watchin the oven like a hawk cuz the parm always browns too quick 😅

  115. User avatar cordell.rau71 says:

    5 stars
Tried these tonight—so crunchy! I made sure the kale was really dry and they browned perfectly. Parmesan flavor is spot-on.

  116. User avatar ryan.kreiger30 says:

    4 stars
Okay but… 15 minutes is like nothing 😅 I’m suspicious it won’t brown properly. Still, I might try it because Parmesan + kale sounds too good to skip.

    1. 4 stars
Totally fair 😂 15 minutes feels suspiciously fast, but kale chips can brown quicker at 300°F if the oven runs hot and the kale is really dry. Dry kale = crispier, more “browned” edges.

  117. User avatar Mrs. Ivory Crooks says:

    3 stars
I burnt one tray 😅 the edges went from brown to black real quick. But the non-burnt ones? Crunchy and cheesy. 7/10 would try again.

  118. User avatar gary.casper15 says:

    5 stars
Garlic powder? I used fresh minced garlic instead and it was amazing. Would recommend if you like a stronger garlic kick.

    1. User avatar Wonko the Sane says:

      4 stars
Wait… I think garlic powder would burn less? Fresh garlic might get too dark. Still, if yours turned out amazing then fair! Going to try but watch the time.

    2. 5 stars
Fresh minced garlic sounds so much better—good call. I’m usually heavy-handed with garlic anyway 😂

  119. User avatar Reg Nullify says:

    5 stars
Love that it’s just kale + seasoning. I added a tiny pinch of chili flakes and it really kicked it up. Will make again!

  120. 5 stars
So easy and they taste way fancier than they are. Used curly kale and it worked great.

  121. 5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about kale chips, but the parmesan + garlic combo is legit. Would eat again.

  122. User avatar elaine.bernier says:

    3 stars
Honestly, I forgot to preheat all the way and they turned out kinda burnt on one side. Tasted fine but not pretty. Won’t rate perfect.

  123. 2 stars
Meh. Flavor is okay, but for the effort I’d rather just buy snacks. They’re not as crispy as potato chips, obviously, but still not my favorite.

  124. User avatar rossana.donnelly says:

    3 stars
Mine stuck to the pan a bit even though I didn’t use parchment. Next time I’ll line it—also maybe less oil?

    1. User avatar diego.rutherford1953 says:

      5 stars
Ugh yeah—kale chips can definitely stick without parchment. Lining the tray usually fixes it, and drying the kale really well helps too. Less oil might help with crisping as well!

  125. 3 stars
Am I the only one who burnt the first batch 😅. I was watching the clock but somehow the edges went dark fast. Second batch was better—cooling time really matters.

  126. 5 stars
Super easy and they didn’t burn! I actually love the salty cheesy bits. Next time I’ll add a pinch of chili flakes.

    1. User avatar stanley.johns35 says:

      5 stars
Yesss—“salty cheesy bits” is exactly it. I also add chili flakes and it makes them way more addictive. 👍

  127. 4 stars
Good snack idea, but I found 15 minutes wasn’t enough for my oven. Had to add a few more minutes and rotate the tray. Still worth it though.

    1. User avatar ambrose.fahey says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—my oven runs hot/cold depending on the day. I usually go closer to 18-22 minutes and definitely rotate the tray. Still super tasty!

    2. 4 stars
15 minutes? Mine were still chewy at that point 😅 I ended up cooking them longer, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t dry the kale enough either. Tastes good though!

  128. User avatar sanford.kling says:

    2 stars
Kale is tough, and the parmesan melted weird. I might be doing something wrong, but I felt like they were more like kale snacks than chips. Still ate them… lol.

  129. User avatar shawn.schamberger42 says:

    3 stars
I’m skeptical about kale chips staying crisp, but okay… these were better than expected. Cooling time really matters.

  130. User avatar celina.bogisich2023 says:

    2 stars
Honestly kale chips are always hit or miss for me. This time was no different—maybe I tore them too big? The flavor is okay but I don’t love the effort for the crunch.

  131. User avatar anthony.batz99 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why people love kale chips. These were fine but not magic—tbh they taste like seasoned leaves.

  132. User avatar eldon.swaniawski says:

    5 stars
The instructions say let cool slightly—mine went from ‘okay’ to ‘WOW’ after cooling. Crunch factor improved a lot.

  133. User avatar robby.rutherford86 says:

    5 stars
I followed it exactly and they came out perfectly. The secret really is drying the kale—mine were dry like paper, so no sogginess.

    1. User avatar waldo.towne66 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Dry kale is everything. I did the “paper dry” thing too and finally got real crunch instead of limp chips.

    2. User avatar tracey.schmeler93 says:

      3 stars
I’m not sure about “perfect” at 300°F—mine took longer and still got kinda chewy. Maybe my kale wasn’t dry enough, or I spread it too thick. 15 min seems optimistic.

  134. 4 stars
I followed it exactly and my chips were kinda salty? Not bad, just make sure your Parmesan isn’t super salty. Still a great snack.

  135. 4 stars
300°F feels kinda low—mine took closer to 25 minutes to get browned. But once they did, the garlic-parm combo was amazing.

    1. User avatar sherika.thiel says:

      5 stars
I totally agree—300°F didn’t seem like enough for me either. I ended up cooking longer until they actually browned. The garlic + parm definitely makes it worth the wait.

    2. 4 stars
Hm… mine brownd super fast at 300°, like 12-15 min. Maybe my kale was thinner? Either way, flavor was legit. Next time I’ll watch closer so it doesn’t go from crispy to burned 😅
