Fried Turkey and Avocado Toast

October 4, 2023

Avocado toast has become a staple on breakfast and brunch menus, beloved for its creamy texture and healthy fats. But if you’re looking to give this trendy classic a heartier upgrade, adding fried turkey takes it to a whole new level. Fried Turkey and Avocado Toast combines the buttery richness of ripe avocado with the crispy, savory bite of golden-fried turkey, creating a dish that’s filling, flavorful, and surprisingly easy to pull together.

This dish is ideal for using up leftover turkey from a holiday feast or turning everyday turkey cutlets into something special. By lightly breading and pan-frying thin turkey slices until they’re crisp on the outside and tender inside, you get the satisfying crunch that contrasts beautifully with the softness of the avocado. It’s a delicious marriage of textures that makes every bite interesting.

Start with a good slice of bread – sourdough, multigrain, or rustic country loaf all work well. Toast it to your liking, then layer it with smashed avocado seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon. From there, top it with warm slices of fried turkey. You can keep it simple or get creative with add-ons like a fried egg, pickled onions, microgreens, or even a drizzle of hot honey or sriracha for extra kick.

Whether you’re enjoying it for brunch, lunch, or even a quick dinner, Fried Turkey and Avocado Toast hits the spot. It offers a good balance of protein, healthy fats, and carbs, making it both energizing and satisfying. It’s also highly adaptable – you can use chicken instead of turkey, or try different herbs and spices in the breading to match your mood.

This dish feels gourmet without requiring a lot of effort. It’s proof that comfort food can still be stylish and nutritious. If you’re tired of plain avocado toast or looking for a creative way to use turkey, this twist is worth trying.

This was soooo good! I never thought of putting turkey on toast before. I’m definitely making this again!

Um… why mash the whole avocado? I mashed mine but accidentally made it too smooth and it kinda slid off the toast. Next time I’ll leave it chunkier. Flavor was okay.

Not sure how I feel about fried turkey. Isn’t turkey supposed to be roasted? This seems wrong to me.

Fried turkey is actually super popular! It’s crispy and delicious. Give it a try before you judge! 😋

  4. 2 stars
The instructions are confusing! You forgot to say when to add the salt!

I think they assumed you’d know when to add the salt. Just sprinkle it over the turkey before cooking! Works for me!

    2. User avatar junko.langosh57 says:

I agree, it’s not clear when to add salt. But you can do it anytime, right? Just not after it’s all done!

  5. 2 stars
I love fried stuff but the directions are kinda vague. Like, what’s “golden brown” mean? Also, 1 lb turkey for 4 slices of bread might be a lot for some people.

Yassss. Fried turkey is life! Try with spicy sauce, trust me. So good!

Sounds great but I think the turkey might be too dry without any sauce. Maybe add some mayo or something next time?

This recipe was so easy! I made it for dinner and my whole family loved it. Will definitely make again!

I don’t eat turkey, can I use chicken instead? Would it still taste good?

I messed it up… burnt the turkey and the toast. How do you even burn toast? 🤦

Fried turkey?! My grandma never made it like this! But I guess it’s new age cooking? 😂

    1. User avatar francesco.goodwin48 says:

I don’t know, fried turkey sounds a bit messy to me. Grandma’s roast turkey was the best! 😅

New age cooking or not, I’m all for trying something different! This sounds delicious! 😍

  14. User avatar Waneta Kirlin says:

I swapped the turkey for chicken and it was bomb!

  15. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the cook time. 4-5 minutes on each side sounded a little quick, but it worked for my thin slices. Toasted bread held up nicely too.

    1. User avatar jacqualine.ryan2025 says:

      5 stars
Totally get the skepticism—4-5 minutes each side feels way too fast for turkey, but glad it worked out for your thinner slices! Did you find the turkey stayed juicy or was it a bit dry at that timing?

    2. User avatar tisa.bailey1971 says:

      4 stars
That’s actually kinda impressive. I always overcook turkey, so I would’ve guessed longer. I bet thicker slices need more time though. Either way looks simple—might try it this week.

Could you substitute chicken for the turkey? I’m really bad at cooking turkey and it scares me! But I want to try this!

    I don’t know… doesn’t fried turkey sound a bit too greasy?

Not a fan of turkey, used chicken instead. It was okay, I guess.

Dogs have good taste! But I get what you mean, it does sound kinda posh. I usually stick to simpler stuff too.

  27. 2 stars
I accidently used peanut butter instead of avocado. Still tasted alright, but that’s not this recipe! 😂

  28. 5 stars
    Yum!!!

  29. 4 stars
Simple and delicious! I added a slice of cheese on top. Yum! 😍

Not sure about turkey on toast… isn’t avocado toast supposed to be simple? I guess if your kids liked it, that’s cool.

  31. User avatar grady.kutch91 says:

    Yummy yogurt with this too!

    1. 5 stars
That sounds interesting! Yogurt must give it a nice creamy touch. Gonna try that! 👍

    2. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      2 stars
Yogurt? Really? I don’t think that goes well with turkey. Sounds weird!

  32. User avatar mi.emard51 says:

    4 stars
So easy! But I think my bread got too toasted. Oops!

  33. User avatar joe_banana says:

So good 👍 A must try for anyone who loves avocado toast!! I used sourdough bread, yum.

  34. User avatar vincent.gleason1950 says:

Avocado + turkey is a weird combo to me, not gonna lie. I think it’d be better with a sauce or something, like mayo or a spicy aioli, because plain mashed avocado felt a little flat.

  35. User avatar trevor.cronin says:

    5 stars
This was absolutely delicious! The turkey was so juicy, and the avocado gave it a creamy kick. Definitely a keeper!

  36. User avatar graham.huel25 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get what the big deal is. The turkey was ok, but the avocado just made it taste weird. Won’t be making again.

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, seems like a weird combo. Turkey should stay with gravy, not avocados. Just my opinion!

    2. User avatar jesenia.kreiger says:

      5 stars
I actually loved it! The avocado adds such a creamy texture, perfect with turkey. Maybe you just need to try a ripened one? 😊

  37. 4 stars
What kind of bread should I use? Whole wheat or sourdough? 🤔

  38. User avatar major.hegmann says:

    2 stars
Meh, just another toast recipe. I’ve seen better.

  39. User avatar danette.moen96 says:

Too many steps! I thought it was just slicing turkey and toasting bread. Why so complicatd?
