Double Chocolate Palmiers are an indulgent pastry treat that takes the classic French palmiers (also known as elephant ears) to the next level with a rich, chocolatey twist. These flaky, buttery pastries are made by rolling layers of puff pastry with melted chocolate and a sprinkling of sugar, then baking them to a golden, crispy perfection. The result is a delicious combination of crisp, caramelized edges with a smooth, chocolatey center, making them the perfect sweet snack or dessert.
To make Double Chocolate Palmiers, start with high-quality puff pastry as the base, which provides the flaky texture that makes this treat so irresistible. A generous spread of melted dark and milk chocolate is then applied to the pastry, giving it a deep, rich chocolate flavor. The pastry is folded, rolled, and sliced into thin pieces before being baked in the oven, where it puffs up beautifully and forms the signature crisp, caramelized edges.
What makes Double Chocolate Palmiers stand out is the blend of two types of chocolate: dark chocolate adds a slightly bitter contrast, while milk chocolate brings a creamy sweetness. Together, they create a perfect balance of flavors that complements the buttery, flaky pastry. Some recipes may even include a hint of cinnamon or vanilla to elevate the flavor profile and give these palmiers a unique twist.
These pastries are incredibly versatile. They can be served as a dessert after a dinner party, paired with a cup of coffee or tea, or even gifted as a sweet homemade treat. Whether enjoyed warm from the oven or at room temperature, Double Chocolate Palmiers are a decadent indulgence that will leave you craving more.
Serve them as a tasty dessert or enjoy them with a cup of coffee. Either way, they are bound to be a hit!

This is a weird way to make palmiers, never seen cocoa in them before. Aren’t they supposed to be just butter and sugar?
I love these! Palmiers are my favorite treat, especially with chocolate! 💖
I’ve never tried them with chocolate! Sounds super yummy! 🍫
These were amazing! Just the right amount of chocolate flavor. My kids loved them!
Hate puff pastry! Why not just use regular dough? This is just fancy.
Yummy!! I added some caramel drizzle on top! Wish I found this recipe sooner!
Too much work for not enough flavor, the chocolate was nice but the puff pastry didn’t wow me.
This looks complicated, but I’m gonna try it this weekend. I’ll report back! Fingers crossed! 🤞
Good luck! Can’t wait to hear how they turn out! 🍫
These palmiers r too chocolatey for me. I prefer plain ones tbh.
These palmiers are amazing! So chocolaty and easy to make. Will definitely try again!
I’m glad you liked them! They really do taste fantastic. I was surprised how simple they were to make!
Super easy and delicious! My kids loved helpin’ out! Will make again for sure! Yum!
lol palmiers are fancy, but these were actually easy. My family ate them immediately and I didn’t even get to dust with powder sugar first.
Honestly that tracks—palmiers always sound “fancy,” but once you’re rolling and baking it’s pretty straightforward. Next time make sure you get at least one tray dusted before your family demolishes them 😂
I burnt mine 😭. Should have watched them more closely. But when they weren’t burnt, they were good!
Super yummy! My only problem was that they burned too fast in my oven. Maybe try 10 minutes next time?
I don’t understand how these are palmiers. They don’t look like the ones I had in Paris. Not a fan.
Palmiers in Paris are so classic, but maybe these double chocolate ones are just a fun twist? I’m curious about the taste!
I think they look great! Different regions have their own takes on palmiers. You should give them a try before judging!
Not as easy as it sounds! I ended up with a sticky mess instead of nice rolls. But they tasted nice, so I’m giving it a 4.
These palmiers were a huge hit at my party! So easy to make and super delicious!
So glad to hear they were a hit! I made them for my coworkers and they disappeared fast. Definitely a crowd-pleaser!
Y’all, this is a great recipe but is it really palmiers? I thought it was more like a chocolate roll.
Yeh this was okay, but my kids preferred store bought cookies! Maybe i need to try again.
Store bought has its charm, but homemade cookies can be amazing too! Maybe try adding more chocolate or a dash of vanilla next time? Keep at it!
Wait, how come there’s no vanilla? Don’t think this is right. Can I use different chocolate?
So easy and fast! Perfect for my last-minute dessert plan! 5 stars 🌟.
Uh, how many calories is this? Kinda worried about my diet here.
You might wanna check a calorie calculator for exact numbers, but these are definitely a treat! Moderation is key, right?
A baker I am not, but these were surprisingly easy! Will try with different fillings next time.
So good! I added some nuts too and it was fantastic!!
I thought palmers are made with almonds, where’s the nuts? lol 😅
The instructions say cool completely, but I couldn’t wait. They were kinda gooey (maybe my chocolate layer was too much). Refrigerate next time?
Yum! Better than store bought 😋. Definitely a crowd pleaser.
First time making this, but came out perfect. Family was impressed! 🤩
Just made these, and WOW! The chocolate flavor is intense. Perfect with coffee!
Very simple and quick! Not bad for beginners like me! 👍
I totally agree! This recipe was so easy, even my kids helped out! 😊
Really? I thought it was kinda tricky. Those steps sound confusing! 😕
Too sweet for my taste, and the puff pastry was a bit tough to work with. Not my fave dessert.
I found the puff pastry to be quite nice! Maybe try a different brand next time?
Too much chocolate? I thought dessert was supposed to be sweet! Maybe you just don’t like chocolate?
Is this really that simple? I thought it would be more complicated. Gonna give it a shot! 🤔
Double chocolate? Yes, please! Will make these for the kids!
they’re good but like what is puff pastry? sounds fancy but it be just bread dough, right?
I followed the recipe exactly but they turned out doughy. Disappointed.
These were a hit at my party! So easy and sooo chocolatey. Definitely making again.
Not as good as I thought. They looked great but tasted just okay. Sorry. 😐
These palmiers are incredible! The chocolate flavor is so rich, loved every bite. Will make them again for sure!
I always thought palmiers were those fancy French cookies, but this was simpler than I expected. Not bad!
These were amazing! Perfect for my dinner party! Everyone loved them. 💖
These are so delicious! Made them for a party and everyone loved them! 🥳
So glad to hear everyone loved them! 🎉 I made them too, and they disappeared in seconds! Definitely a crowd pleaser!
I had to use dark cocoa and it came out a little more bitter than I like. Would probably bump the sugar to 3 tbsp or add semi-sweet chips in the mix.
I don’t see how this is a recipe. It’s just rolled pastry with chocolate. What a let down. 😡
I didn’t have cocoa powder, so I used chocolate syrup. I think they turned out ok, but they didn’t look as good as the picture. Maybe I’ll try it again with the right ingredients.
I had a lot of trouble rolling them up. Mine came out a bit messy. Any tips?
So quick to make! I used store-bought puff pastry and it turned out great. Thanks!
I’m glad it worked out for you! Store-bought is such a lifesaver when you’re in a hurry. 😋
Wait, can you really use store-bought? I thought it had to be homemade for it to taste good. 🤨
Yum! Just what I needed! Wish I could eat these all day.
These are the best! So easy to make and taste amazing. Will definitely make again!
Why do you need sugar if there is chocolate? Makes no sense to me.
Lots of recipes call for sugar even with chocolate. Just makes it taste better, I guess. But you could omit it if you like!
It enhances the sweetness! Cocoa alone can be bitter if you don’t add some sugar. Trust me, it’s worth it!
Yummy!!! Definitely making these again. Drooling just thinking about them! 😋
Not as good as I thought it would be. The chocolate chips made them too sweet.
I actually loved them! Maybe try less chocolate chips next time? Just a thought.
I messed it up. My chocolate burned in the oven. Oops! Might try again next time. 🤷♂️
Don’t be too hard on yourself! It’s easy to burn chocolate. Maybe try lowering the temp next time?
LOL, been there! My first batch was a disaster too. But practice makes perfect!
I had no chocolate chips so I used sprinkles. They tasted fine, but they looked ridiculous. Not my proudest moment, lol. 3 stars.
I thought puff pastry was hard to work with, but this was super simple! Will make again.
I totally agree! I used to be scared of puff pastry, but this recipe is a game changer! They turned out so good!
Really? I found puff pastry super tricky last time I tried. Maybe I just need more practice or a better recipe.
What’s puff pastry? Can I use bread instead?
WOW! So delicious and easy! Just made them and they’re GONE!
I know right?! They disappeared in minutes at my house too! So good!
Disappointed… the dough was too dry and the palmiers turned out burnt. I guess I’m just not cut out for fancy baking. 2 stars.
This recipe seems too easy, I’m skeptical. Are they really good?
I followed the recipe but it was too sweet for my taste. Maybe less sugar next time?
Disapointed. They looked nice, but I think I burnt ’em. Chocolate should be melted not hard, no?
It’s a bummer that they burnt! Yeah, chocolate should definitely be melty and gooey. Maybe next time keep an eye on them while they bake? I think they can be really finicky sometimes.
Not sure what went wrong, but mine turned out like a mess 😩. Too much cocoa?
I was skeptical at first, but they turned out great! A little tricky to roll perfectly, but worth the effort.
I totally agree! They look complicated but it’s really not so bad. Gotta love that chocolatey goodness! 😋
These turned out way better than I expected—super crispy and not too sweet. The cocoa-sugar layer actually tastes chocolatey, not bitter. Yum!
Mine turned out kinda flat. I think I rolled it too tight or something. Dunno what I did wrong.
omg I loved this recipe!!! 🥰 so yummy!
I don’t know, mine turned out all soggy. I followed the instructions but maybe my oven is too hot?
I don’t know what palmiers are but these taste good, I guess? They were fun to make!
I don’t cook a lot, but this was pretty simple. I just don’t know if it’s worth the effort. 🤷♀️
I know what you mean! Cooking can feel like a lot of work for just a snack. But these palmiers are so good! I think they’re worth it if you got the ingredients. Maybe try it once more? 😊
Can someone explain why mine are not puffing up? They kinda look sad 😢. I followed the instructions.
Yummy! But I don’t know what palmiers are. Are they French or something? LOL
These palmiers are heavenly! I can’t stop eating them! Definitely a 5 star recipe!
Are these really that good? I’m skeptical about using puff pastry. It seems like it would be hard to work with.
I made these for a party and they were a hit! Everyone loved them, thanks for the great recipe!
