Chinese Beef and Scallion Breakfast Wrap

August 9, 2023

Start your day with a flavorful, savory twist on your usual breakfast with a Chinese Beef and Scallion Breakfast Wrap. This delicious wrap brings together tender beef, fragrant scallions, and a touch of soy sauce for a satisfying breakfast that’s far from ordinary. If you’re looking to break free from the usual eggs and toast, this wrap delivers an exciting, savory alternative that’s perfect for those who enjoy bold flavors from the very first bite.

The star of this wrap is the thinly sliced beef, typically marinated in a combination of soy sauce, garlic, and a hint of sugar to create a rich, umami-packed flavor. The beef is then sautéed until tender, soaking up the flavors of the marinade. Paired with freshly chopped scallions, which add a fresh and slightly pungent bite, the result is a flavorful filling that’s both comforting and energizing.

Wrapped in a soft, warm tortilla, this breakfast wrap is easy to hold and eat, making it perfect for busy mornings when you’re on the go. The savory beef and scallions are balanced by the soft texture of the wrap, while a drizzle of hoisin or chili sauce can add an extra layer of depth and spice if you like a little heat in the morning.

What makes this breakfast wrap so versatile is how easily it can be adjusted to your taste. You can add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra crunch and nutrition, or toss in some scrambled eggs if you prefer a more traditional breakfast component. A sprinkle of sesame seeds or a dash of black pepper adds an extra touch of flavor.

The Chinese Beef and Scallion Breakfast Wrap is perfect for anyone who enjoys a hearty, savory breakfast that’s packed with flavor and doesn’t require much prep time. It’s a great way to enjoy the comforting flavors of Chinese-inspired cuisine in a convenient, portable form.

Quick and simple, love it! Def gonna whip this up again next weekend.

    1. User avatar Vroomfondel says:

Looks good, but why would you use oyster sauce? It’s not for everyone. Just sayin’.

    2. 5 stars
This recipe sounds amazing! Can’t wait to try it myself. Beef + eggs = perfection!

  2. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

Wraps for breakfast! Why not? Yum! Will definitely make again!

I’m no chef but cooking beef is hard! I’m glad I gave this a shot though, kids ate it all!

  4. User avatar agripina.maggio says:

    4 stars
Good flavor, but my beef took closer to 7-8 minutes to brown. Also, I wish the tortillas were warmed a bit longer so they didn’t crack when rolling.

  5. User avatar neville.koss says:

1 lb beef thinly sliced is a lot for only 4 tortillas. If you actually do all of it, it becomes more like a taco situation lol. Flavor still good.

    1. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

      5 stars
Yeah I totally get what you mean—1 lb meat for 4 tortillas is definitely a lot. But honestly I like it that way. It makes them super filling.

  6. User avatar Luise Daugherty says:

    1 star
This is NOT how you make a breakfast wrap! It should have bacon! 1 star.

  7. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

Five stars! But also—how do you roll these without spilling the egg?? I attempted and it looked… not pretty 😅 Tasted great anyway.

    1. User avatar ArabianNights says:

      2 stars
I honestly just couldn’t roll it without a mess either 😂 I think the eggs need to be cooked *less*? Like runny so it sticks, then you can smear it to seal the seam. Also tortillas matter—mine were too thick and broke. But glad it tasted good!

    2. User avatar edith.reynolds56 says:

      5 stars
Haha I totally get that! I usually put the tortilla on a plate, add beef/egg in a short line near the edge, then tuck the sides in and roll tight—not too much filling. If the egg is still a little wet, it will try to escape, so I keep the scramble on the drier side.

  8. User avatar tam.mitchell says:

    2 stars
Meh. My eggs cooked kind of dry (I scrambled too long). Flavor was okay but not mind-blowing. Wouldn’t repeat as-is.

  9. 4 stars
Just wanted to say that I made this with chicken instead of beef and it turned out great! You can really use anything, I guess.

    1. User avatar Dwarven Centurion says:

      2 stars
But like, isn’t chicken not even close to beef? 😕 Just stick to the recipe, people!

    2. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

      5 stars
That’s awesome! Chicken sounds like a tasty substitute. I might try it too.

  10. User avatar beula.johnston1993 says:

    3 stars
I tried this and it was okay but too salty for my liking. Maybe next time I’ll use less soy sauce.

  11. User avatar Yooden Vranx says:

    5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The flavors are out of this world! I added some garlic and it was even better!

  12. User avatar lucretia.brekke says:

    4 stars
1 lb of beef? That’s too much! I used like half and it was still filling!

    1. User avatar alonzo.anderson52 says:

      4 stars
I think 1 lb is just right! You can always save leftovers for later. Don’t wanna waste good beef!

  13. 5 stars
This wrap is amazing! The flavors are just perfect. Definitely a keeper! ❤️

  14. User avatar Marilynn Kilback I says:

    2 stars
Too salty! I used low sodium soy sauce and still found it overwhelming.

    1. User avatar verline.mclaughlin says:

      4 stars
I didn’t find it salty at all! Maybe try reducing the soy sauce a bit next time? It might help.

    2. User avatar Michael83 says:

      3 stars
So salty? I used regular soy sauce and it was fine. Are you sure you measured right?

  15. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

    2 stars
I tried it but my beef came out tough. Maybe I cooked it too long? Not sure, but wasn’t a fan.

    1. 4 stars
Tough beef can happen if you cook it too long or at too high heat. Maybe try lowering the heat next time! Don’t give up!

  16. User avatar cathi.jacobi30 says:

    3 stars
Tried it and it was too salty for my taste! Maybe less soy sauce next time?

    1. User avatar glenn.beer14 says:

      4 stars
I totally get it! Soy sauce can be really overpowering. I usually use only 1 tbsp and it’s still tasty!

  17. User avatar edison.donnelly says:

    3 stars
Hold up, not even sure this is breakfast food. What about pancakes?!!

  18. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
This is such a solid weekday breakfast. The beef + scallion combo tastes way more “restaurant” than I expected.

  19. 5 stars
Perfect breakfast wrap! I added some hot sauce for extra kick! 🌶️

  20. 4 stars
Great breakfast idea. But why beef? Can’t you use chicken instead? 🤔

  21. 2 stars
Not bad but I think 2 tbsp soy and 2 tbsp oyster might be too salty with beef. My tortillas got soggy-ish from the sauce. Maybe drain the beef next time?

  22. 2 stars
Ehhh, it was okay I guess. Didn’t really feel like breakfast food to me.

  23. 5 stars
This wrap was amazing! The beef was so tender and the flavors just popped. Definitely making this again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    1. 3 stars
Mm, sounds good but I don’t think the beef would be that tender if you cook it for long. Are you sure about that?

    2. User avatar jessie.bernier60 says:

      5 stars
Glad you liked it! I made this for my family and they loved it too! 😊

Wow, easy to make. My family ate all of them! (I learned to warm tortillas first—game changer.)

  25. User avatar Alisha Flatley says:

    5 stars
I put some extra spices in it and it was amazing! Highly recommend!

  26. User avatar tonda.daugherty2 says:

Can you use chicken instead of beef? I’m not a beef person. 🤔

    1. User avatar elvie.koss32 says:

      5 stars
Yes, you can definitely use chicken! It’ll taste different but still yummy. 😊

  27. User avatar Colin the Security Robot says:

    5 stars
This is such a solid breakfast idea—savory beef + scallions in a warm tortilla is exactly my vibe. The sauce combo (soy/oyster/sesame) sounds perfect. Gonna try it this weekend!

  28. 4 stars
Yum! I’m adding this to my breakfast rotation. The flavors are so good together.

  29. 5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! It was so easy to make and tasted fantastic. Will definitely make it again!

  30. 5 stars
Made this for breakfast and it was honestly so good. The beef got nice and savory from the soy + oyster combo, and the scallions really brighten it up. I also like how quick it is.

    1. User avatar rodrigo.keebler64 says:

      5 stars
Yesss, soy + oyster is such a power combo. I love that it’s savory but still fresh with the scallions.

  31. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

    3 stars
Just okay. I’ve had better wraps at my favorite diner. This one didn’t do it for me.

  32. User avatar Eladia McDermott says:

    4 stars
I followed it pretty closely, but I think 1 lb beef was a lot for only 4 tortillas—ended up with extra filling. Still delicious though!

  33. User avatar Eleanore Miller says:

    5 stars
Eggs were easy, tortillas warmed fine. Overall quick and filling. I might add a little chili crisp next time for heat.

  34. User avatar annelle.bartoletti says:

    4 stars
Yum! Quick and easy. Perfect for busy mornings!

  35. User avatar Michael83 says:

    4 stars
Tastes kinda good, but the instructions confuzzled me a bit. Didn’t know when to add the scallions. Still edible tho!

  36. User avatar santana.hagenes1999 says:

    1 star
Eww, this looks bad. I am not eating scallions ever again. ⭐

    1. User avatar luciana.yost42 says:

      3 stars
Honestly, I don’t like scallions either. They can be way too strong. Maybe try some other veggies?

    2. User avatar marica.mertz43 says:

      5 stars
I think it looks yummy! Scallions are so tasty in beef dishes. Give it another try! 😊

  37. User avatar Blanche Schumm says:

    3 stars
This was kinda bland for me—like I followed it exactly, but my soy sauce brand might’ve been weak. I added extra soy and chili crisp after and it fixed it.

  38. User avatar Peregrin Took says:

    4 stars
So easy and quick! I made this in 30 mins for breakfast, I love it! 🥢

  39. User avatar douglas.jakubowski37 says:

    3 stars
This is a breakfast wrap? Isn’t beef more for lunch? Confused but I tried it and it was fine. ⭐⭐⭐

  40. User avatar jeremiah.collier1965 says:

    5 stars
Yum yum! I love how quick it is to make. I fed my whole family, and they all liked it! You should try it!

    1. User avatar dinorah.buckridge says:

      5 stars
I’m glad your family enjoyed it! It’s super easy to make, and the flavors are just perfect! 🌟

  41. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

    4 stars
Tasty wrap, but I used chicken instead of beef because I can’t eat red meat!

  42. User avatar Shadowfax says:

    4 stars
Don’t forget to salt the eggs!! They can be kinda bland otherwise. Just a tip.

  43. User avatar Lacie Schowalter says:

    4 stars
This is a different breakfast idea. I’m used to toast but I wanna try this now! Looks delish!

  44. User avatar archie.marquardt says:

    4 stars
Made this for breakfast. My kids didn’t even notice the beef! 😄

  45. User avatar jere.brekke says:

    2 stars
This recipe is great, but what’s with the eggs? I mean, are we makin’ a taco here or what?

    1. User avatar monique.johns says:

      5 stars
I think the eggs add a nice texture and fluffiness to the wrap! It’s a cool twist on the usual taco, don’t you think?

  46. User avatar mathWizard says:

    5 stars
This wrap is AMAZING! The flavors are just fantastic, and it’s so easy to make. My family loved it!

  47. User avatar Dremora Lord says:

    5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The flavor was off the charts.

  48. User avatar marylee.larkin7 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good breakfast idea. I used thicker sliced beef so it took longer to brown—should’ve sliced thinner like it says. Still, the flavors were solid and the wraps were filling.

  49. User avatar val.towne1970 says:

    4 stars
I’m not a good cook, but this was super easy to follow! Even I couldn’t mess it up. Didn’t have scallions tho, used onions instead.

    1. User avatar ruthanne.dooley says:

      3 stars
But wait, are the scallions actually necessary for the flavor? I’ve always thought they were just for looks.

    2. User avatar toney.dibbert says:

      5 stars
Glad to hear you found it easy! Substituting onions sounds like a good idea too. I’ll try that next time! 🥳

  50. User avatar ermelinda.emmerich87 says:

    5 stars
This is soooo good! My family devoured it! 👍

  51. User avatar armando.mann23 says:

    5 stars
Very solid recipe. I added a pinch of chili flakes and it elevated it. If you like less salty, cut soy sauce slightly and taste first.

    1. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

      5 stars
Thanks! I love that idea—chili flakes always make breakfast stuff taste more alive. I’ll try cutting the soy sauce too; mine always ends up a bit too salty.

  52. User avatar Pasta Fasta says:

    5 stars
Sooo good! I added cheese and it was a game changer. Highly recommend!

    1. User avatar sandy.turner79 says:

      3 stars
Yum, this sounds awesome! But like, isn’t that too much flavor? I thought the beef needed to shine alone.

    2. User avatar irvin.prosacco says:

      4 stars
Cheese? That’s interesting! I never thought to add that to beef wraps. I’ll have to try it next time!

  53. User avatar antonio.rempel55 says:

    5 stars
Just made this. Family loved it, even my picky teenager ate it!

  54. User avatar Arthur Dent says:

    2 stars
I followed the recipe step-by-step but it didn’t come out right. The beef was tough. Any tips?

    1. User avatar audry.feeney1980 says:

      3 stars
Nah, sometimes beef just doesn’t cooperate. You could try marinating it longer or use a different cut.

    2. User avatar kaylee.brown49 says:

      4 stars
Maybe the beef was overcooked? It cooks really fast. Try a lower heat next time!

  55. User avatar Ms. Rodrigo Schoen says:

    5 stars
This is so good! I make it every Sunday morning. Family loves it!

    1. User avatar cherie.dubuque35 says:

      4 stars
I can’t imagine making this every Sunday, but it sounds delicious! I’m definitely gonna try it out.

  56. User avatar CTRLplusW says:

    5 stars
It turned out great! I added some cheese inside too. 😍

    1. User avatar Morgan Hettinger says:

      5 stars
That sounds amazing! Cheese is always a good choice. I never thought of adding it, but I will try!!

  57. User avatar kandice.towne41 says:

    5 stars
My kids loved it! I added cheese, though. Gotta make it cheesy! 🧀😄 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  58. User avatar Darryl Likt says:

    4 stars
Honestly, “breakfast wrap” is a stretch—this is more like a quick Chinese-style egg and beef situation. Still tasty though. I might add a little chili next time.

  59. User avatar millard.mraz says:

    3 stars
The oyster sauce made it super savory, but I used regular soy and thought it became a bit too salty. Next time I’ll cut soy sauce in half.

    1. User avatar tamera.rau53 says:

      5 stars
Totally makes sense—oyster sauce + soy sauce can get salty fast. Cutting the soy in half should balance it out nicely. Next time you could also taste the sauce before adding it in and add a splash of water if it’s too intense. Great call!

  60. User avatar Ben Sporer says:

    3 stars
Two tablespoons soy sauce + two tablespoons oyster sauce sounds like it could drown everything—mine kinda did, so I’m giving it a 3.
