Bourbon Pecan Pie Bars

April 8, 2025

Bourbon Pecan Pie Bars offer a delightful twist on the traditional pecan pie, turning it into a portable, easy-to-share treat with all the rich, nutty flavors you love. The combination of crunchy pecans, a smooth, sweet filling, and a hint of bourbon creates a decadent dessert that’s perfect for any holiday or special occasion. Whether you’re serving them at Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just for a cozy dessert, these bars are sure to impress with their bold flavor and satisfying texture.

The base of Bourbon Pecan Pie Bars starts with a buttery shortbread crust that provides a crisp and slightly sweet foundation. It’s simple to prepare and bakes up golden and firm, creating the perfect base for the rich filling. The filling itself is made with a blend of brown sugar, corn syrup, and eggs, along with a splash of bourbon for a warm, smoky depth of flavor that elevates the classic pecan pie taste. The bourbon doesn’t overwhelm the dish but adds an unexpected yet delightful twist that perfectly complements the nuttiness of the pecans.

The bars are topped with a generous layer of whole pecans, which toast slightly during baking, intensifying their flavor and adding a crunchy texture that contrasts beautifully with the rich, gooey filling. After baking, the bars firm up to a perfect sliceable consistency, making them ideal for serving at parties or gatherings. The final result is a sweet, sticky, and nutty bar that’s just as comforting as a traditional pecan pie, but with the added bonus of being easy to cut and serve.

Bourbon Pecan Pie Bars are perfect for anyone who loves the classic flavors of pecan pie but wants something a little more convenient and fun to enjoy. They also pair wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, making them an indulgent dessert that everyone will enjoy.

These bars are to die for! I love the bourbon flavor. Definitely a hit at my family gatherings!

    1. User avatar jacinta.larson says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! The bourbon adds such a unique twist. Can’t wait to make these for Thanksgiving!

  3. User avatar dick.flatley66 says:

I don’t get the bourbon thing. Can I just skip it or use vanilla instead? I’m skeptical about adding booze to desserts.

  4. User avatar Dennis Stokes says:

    3 stars
Super easy to make, but I think I overcooked them. They were hard. Gonna try again though!

    1. 4 stars
Don’t worry! It happens to the best of us. Maybe try reducing the baking time a bit? Good luck on your next attempt!

    2. User avatar chad.mueller75 says:

      3 stars
Hard? Are you sure you followed all steps? Maybe your oven is different, or you used a different pan? Just keep trying!

  5. 5 stars
I followed the recipe exactly and the bars came out perfectly golden and set. Next time I’ll toast the pecans for extra nuttiness.

  6. User avatar connie.baumbach says:

    4 stars
Followed it pretty much exactly, but my filling took a little longer to set—ended up at ~35 minutes. Still tasted amazing though. Next time I’ll keep an eye on doneness.

    1. User avatar Falmer Shadowmaster says:

      5 stars
Nice! 35 minutes makes sense if your oven runs a bit cooler—35 min is still well within “set and golden.” Definitely a good call to watch the doneness instead of the clock.

  7. User avatar tera.runolfsson says:

    4 stars
I think 25 minutes wasn’t enough in my oven. I had to add like 10 more. Otherwise the center was runny. But once baked properly, it was great.

  8. 5 stars
These came out super rich and gooey—exactly like pecan pie, but easier to slice. The bourbon note is subtle (not overpowering) and the crust turned out nicely crisp.

  9. User avatar Aaron Murray says:

    4 stars
My grandma used to make something like these but with walnuts. Yours taste pretty good, but I prefer hers.

  10. User avatar Raye Padberg says:

    3 stars
Not as sweet as I expected, but I guess that’s the bourbon talking. Family said they were good but I thought it was missing something.

    1. User avatar leatrice.ward34 says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! I found it a bit too rich, maybe adding more sugar would solve that? 🍬

    2. User avatar wiley.mueller says:

      3 stars
Bourbon should make it sweeter! Maybe you didn’t put in enough bourbon? Just saying… 🤔

  11. User avatar Drew Blood says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about bars vs real pie. But these are actually better for sharing and they slice clean if you cool all the way. The crust is buttery and not too thick.

  12. 2 stars
Way too sweet for me. Also, I accidentally bought maple syrup instead of corn syrup… and it still worked, but totally changed the vibe. Would make again with less sugar.

    1. User avatar letha.dickens30 says:

      4 stars
Totally get you—those corn syrup + brown sugar bars can get cloying fast. I’ve been cutting the sugar a bit and it helps a lot. Maple syrup swap sounds deliciously chaotic though 😄

  13. User avatar wilber.ebert2015 says:

    3 stars
Taste great, but why is everyone putting alcohol in dessert? Kids gotta eat this too 🤷‍♂️.

  14. User avatar Tristana says:

    1 star
I dunno, I feel like bourbon in a pie is just weird. No offense to anyone, but I wouldn’t do it again. 🤔

  15. 5 stars
These were dangerously good. The bourbon really makes the pecans taste deeper, and the crust is perfectly buttery. I baked mine a couple minutes longer just for extra golden edges—no regrets.

    1. User avatar dee.blick58 says:

      4 stars
These sound dangerous 😅 I’m still a little confused though—corn syrup + brown sugar + bourbon… that’s gonna be super sweet. Did you find it balanced or was it like candy?

    2. User avatar jodie.maggio22 says:

      5 stars
Omg yes—“deeper” is exactly right. I did 2 extra minutes too and the edges came out caramel-y. Glad you didn’t regret it!

  16. User avatar willow.olson48 says:

    1 star
I think my flour was bad or smth, they didn’t turn out right. Any tips?

    1. 4 stars
It could be the flour! Sometimes old flour can have a funny smell or taste. Try using fresh flour next time. Also, make sure to measure accurately!

  17. User avatar wellRespected says:

    5 stars
The parchment paper made lifting out so much easier. I’ve ruined other bar recipes before, so this was a win.

    1. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

      5 stars
Yes! Parchment makes a huge difference with bars like this—way less sticking and no panic when lifting out. Glad it was a win for you.

    2. 3 stars
I always use parchment too, but I think the bourbon amount is a lot? Like would it still work if I cut it in half… my first time it got kinda strong 😅

  18. User avatar Deep Thought says:

    2 stars
Honestly, wasn’t impressed. Too sweet for my taste.

  19. User avatar edward.white says:

Delicious bars! Made for a party, just wow. A must try!

    1. User avatar Flame Atronach says:

      2 stars
I tried this recipe and it didn’t turn out well for me. My filling was all runny. What did I do wrong?

    2. User avatar herman.schulist says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! These bars were the hit of my last gathering too. So rich and tasty!

  20. User avatar halflife4 says:

    5 stars
Tried these last weekend—so rich and gooey! The bourbon flavor is subtle but definitely there, and the pecans toast up nicely. I baked a couple minutes longer to get that darker golden top.

  21. User avatar Kevin Windler says:

    5 stars
I made these for my book club, and they were devoured in minutes! Will definitely be making them again.

  22. User avatar romona.grimes52 says:

    4 stars
Bourbon and pecans? Sounds like a strange combo to me. Never had pie bars before, but these are truly unique.

  23. User avatar elva.stamm says:

    5 stars
Yummy! Family loved it. We had it for Thanksgiving and it was a hit!

    1. User avatar angelina.klein46 says:

      5 stars
So glad to hear it was a hit for Thanksgiving! Those pie bars are super delish.

  24. User avatar oscar.steuber39 says:

    4 stars
Can someone pls tell me if I can replace the corn syrup? I ain’t got any.

  25. User avatar dane.gorczany50 says:

    4 stars
I’m skeptical about bourbon in desserts, but wow. It’s not boozy, just adds depth. Would make again.

  26. User avatar otilia.reichert1984 says:

    4 stars
I’m not sure I’d call these “lightly golden” crust at 15 min—mine was more golden than that, but it still tasted great. Maybe my oven runs hot? Either way, would make again.

  27. User avatar Hanna Hoeger says:

    5 stars
Sooo good! I could eat the whole pan by myself haha!

    1. User avatar Princess Ruto says:

      2 stars
I dunno, man. Sounds like too much bourbon for me. What if it ruins the taste?

    2. User avatar jason.dooley22 says:

      5 stars
Haha, I totally get that! They’re so addictive! 🍰

  28. 5 stars
Yum! Just made these for a party and they disappeared fast! Easy to follow instructions too.

  29. User avatar leonore.rodriguez10 says:

    2 stars
Very sweet. Like, almost brownie-sweet. If you like dessert that hits hard, you’ll love it. If not, reduce the sugar a bit.

  30. User avatar theodore.olson13 says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about bourbon in a pecan bar, but it’s legit. The crust is buttery and the filling is like pecan pie in bar form.

  31. User avatar Alicia Turner says:

    5 stars
Easy recipe, and it smells like a holiday when it bakes. I used chopped walnuts because that’s what I had, and it still tasted amazing.

    1. User avatar hester.beatty13 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! That “holiday in the oven” feeling is real. I’ve been craving these—thanks for sharing!

  32. 5 stars
These are amazing! The bourbon adds a fantastic depth of flavor. Definitely a crowd pleaser!

  33. User avatar ethan.ziemann1953 says:

    5 stars
These bourbon pecan pie bars are an absolute hit at parties! Everyone loves them and they disappear so fast!

  34. User avatar Brand-shei says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and the filling set nicely, but my bars were kind of soft in the middle even after cooling. Next time I’ll cool longer before cutting.

  35. User avatar alberto.osinski says:

    2 stars
Not my favorite, tasted kinda weird with the bourbon. Maybe it would be better without it.

  36. User avatar brant.schneider66 says:

    3 stars
I accidentally baked the crust 10 minutes longer and it got darker. Still worked, but the bars were a little firmer than I wanted. Learn from me lol.

  37. User avatar allie.abshire84 says:

    3 stars
1/4 cup bourbon??? I accidentally used way more and it was still good, lol. But yeah follow the recipe or you will regret it.

    1. User avatar Frost Giant says:

      4 stars
Haha I’m glad you got away with it 😅 But yeah, bourbon is one of those “small ingredient, big impact” things—too much can mess with the set.

  38. User avatar colby.grady78 says:

    4 stars
I used whiskey instead of bourbon and it turned out fine. Still tasty!

  39. 5 stars
Heavenly! Like a hug in food form. Would recommend to EVERYONE! 😍

  40. User avatar nedra.fay2000 says:

    2 stars
I tried making this, but the filling wouldn’t set properly. Not sure what I did wrong. Maybe too much corn syrup?

    1. User avatar allan.mcdermott20 says:

      3 stars
Corn syrup is what makes it gooey. If you used too much, it might not set right. Just a thought!

    2. User avatar Michael83 says:

      4 stars
I had the same issue! I think the key is maybe not to whip the eggs too much? It helped mine set better.

  41. User avatar donnie.hilpert says:

    3 stars
The flavor is good, but I felt it needed more pecans. Could you add an extra cup instead?

    1. User avatar gigi.towne1961 says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! More pecans would definitely take it to the next level. I’ll try adding an extra cup next time too!

    2. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      3 stars
I dunno, adding a whole cup seems like a lot. Doesn’t that make it too nutty? But you do you!

  42. User avatar Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings says:

    4 stars
Good flavor, but mine set a little too firmly (more like a pecan cookie bar than pie bars). Next time I’ll check at 20 minutes for the filling—oven temps vary, I guess.

    1. User avatar william.beier61 says:

      5 stars
Good catch! 350°F to 25 minutes is a bit optimistic depending on your pan—checking earlier around 20 minutes makes total sense. I’m glad the flavor still came out great.

  43. User avatar Blue Dartwing says:

    5 stars
These are dangerously good. Sweet, gooey, and the bourbon flavor actually shows up (in a nice way). I used toasted pecans too and it was even better.

  44. User avatar carlos.friesen says:

    5 stars
Wow, just wow. Heavennnly! Could honestly eat the whole tray by myself. Worth the effort!

  45. User avatar kip.leuschke80 says:

    5 stars
Wow, these bars are heaven! The bourbon really adds that special touch. Definitely a 5-star recipe for me!

  46. User avatar lynn.mayer2008 says:

    3 stars
Mine stuck to the parchment even though I lined it. I had to wrestle the edges out. Also, 9×13 is huge—maybe it should be 8×8? Not sure. Flavor was great though.

  47. User avatar Jacquiline Thompson says:

    5 stars
These bars are absolutely amazing! The bourbon adds a nice kick, and the pecans are perfectly crunchy. Definitely making these again!

    1. User avatar jarod.beier74 says:

      5 stars
I can’t believe how easy these bars are to make! Plus, who doesn’t love a bit of bourbon? I’m definitely trying this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

  48. 2 stars
Way too sweet for my taste. Corn syrup + brown sugar + vanilla is doing the most. Delicious though—just not for folks who like less sugary desserts.

  49. 5 stars
Best dessert ever! where can I get more recipes like this? 🙂

  50. User avatar lecia.renner says:

    4 stars
Bourbon in desserts? You bet! This is a must-try recipe!

    1. User avatar Miss Philip Will says:

      5 stars
I tried this recipe last week, and it was amazing! The bourbon really elevates the flavor. Definitely a keeper! 🍰

  51. User avatar Storm Atronach says:

    2 stars
Not as easy as it seems. My crust fell apart and the filling was too runny. Maybe I did something wrong?

  52. User avatar ramon.jakubowski64 says:

    4 stars
These are dangerously good. Sweet, gooey center with a sturdy crust—exactly what I want in pecan anything.

    1. 5 stars
Ok wow—“dangerously good” is right 😅 I made these last night and the gooey center is unreal. The bourbon note really makes the pecans pop. Next time I might toast the chopped pecans first for even more crunch, but the recipe as written is fantastic.

  53. 2 stars
I followed the recipe but it didn’t come out right. My filling was too runny. I don’t think I’ll try this again.

  54. User avatar sanford.dach1965 says:

    4 stars
Good flavor, but mine seemed a bit runny after 25 minutes. I ended up baking ~10 minutes longer and it worked.

  55. User avatar Joel Abshire says:

    1 star
I thought this was pie not bars. Confused!

    1. User avatar Frost Troll says:

      4 stars
Yeah, it’s a bit misleading. But they’re yummy regardless!

  56. User avatar mathWizard says:

    3 stars
Delicious! But like, does it have to be buttery? Could use less butter.

    1. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

      4 stars
I get what you’re saying! A bit less butter might actually let the pecan flavor shine more. But butter does make it rich. 😄

    2. User avatar Falmer Shadowmaster says:

      3 stars
Less butter? No way! Butter makes everything better! Maybe just enjoy it as is. 😂

  57. 3 stars
I think 3 eggs might be too many? Mine came out kinda firm and not super gooey. Maybe I overbaked. Still okay, but not my favorite texture.

    1. User avatar Spider Soldier says:

      4 stars
Yeah, 3 eggs can definitely make them set up firmer. I’ve had that happen when I bake the full time—now I pull them when the center still jiggles a little.

  58. 3 stars
The crust was a little crumbly for me (maybe I pressed too lightly). Still tasted great though—pecans + syrup is a win.

    1. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

      4 stars
Same thing happened to me once—turns out I didn’t press hard enough. I started using the back of a measuring cup and it got way less crumbly. Glad you still liked the flavor though!

  59. User avatar christoper.sporer2000 says:

    2 stars
I think 3/4 cup corn syrup is excessive. Also I didn’t have parchment so I greased the pan—big mistake, they stuck and broke when I tried to cut.

  60. User avatar Tryndamere says:

    5 stars
I gave these 5 stars just because they smell amazing while baking. I used chopped walnuts instead of pecans (because pecans were out). It was still pretty good!

  61. 3 stars
Bourbon pecan pie bars?? Sounds fancy. I made them exactly, but my filling never fully set and was kinda jiggly in the middle. Maybe my eggs were too cold or I underbaked by like 5 min.

    1. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      4 stars
That jiggly center can happen with these—25 min may not be enough depending on your oven. I usually look for “set at the edges, slightly soft in the middle,” then it firms up as it cools. Also, eggs at room temp help keep it smooth, but underbaking is often the culprit.

    2. User avatar scottie.goodwin48 says:

      4 stars
I think you nailed it with the underbaked by 5 min idea 😅. Next time, bake 30-35 min and tent with foil if it gets too dark. Corn syrup/eggs need time to really thicken.

  62. User avatar Agnus Swift says:

    4 stars
I love pecan pie, so I was excited, but the corn syrup amount felt like a lot. Still, it’s tasty—just super sweet. If you’re sensitive to sweetness, maybe reduce the brown sugar a bit.

  63. User avatar donny.sanford50 says:

    3 stars
The pecans were awesome, but I felt like there wasn’t enough crust to hold everything together. Next time I might use a tiny bit more flour/butter.

  64. User avatar monique.rice says:

    5 stars
These are dangerously good lol. I used dark corn syrup by accident and it turned out even darker. Would make again for sure—also the bourbon smell in the oven is amazing.

  65. User avatar ozell.goodwin72 says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the bourbon. It tasted kinda boozy on day one, but after chilling it mellowed. Still, I’d probably reduce bourbon slightly next time.

  66. User avatar Shayne Douglas says:

    4 stars
Followed the recipe pretty much. My filling looked a little loose at first but it set up after the extra 25 minutes like it said. Big hit at our family thing.

  67. User avatar cheree.schaden says:

    4 stars
Easy recipe, but mine stuck a bit even with parchment. I should’ve greased the parchment. Flavor is great, though. Will try again!

    1. User avatar kathi.schuster1965 says:

      4 stars
Good call on greasing the parchment—those bars can still cling a bit. Next time I’d also let the pan cool fully before cutting.

  68. User avatar tijuana.stiedemann1990 says:

    4 stars
Mine came out a little too sweet for my taste (maybe my corn syrup brand was sweeter?). Still tasty though—super rich and rich = good.

    1. 4 stars
Yeah, that corn syrup brand difference is totally a thing. Some are sweeter/thicker than others—next time you could try reducing the sugar a touch or use a less-sweet syrup. Glad they were still tasty though!

  69. User avatar ashleigh.predovic12 says:

    3 stars
Not sure if it’s my oven or the measurements, but I felt like 1 1/2 cups pecans was too much. Could be fine for others.

  70. User avatar joseph.white7 says:

    5 stars
Made these for a family get-together and they disappeared fast. The bourbon aroma is subtle but makes them feel fancy.
