Bite Size Burgers

May 16, 2025

Bite size burgers, often called sliders, are the ultimate crowd-pleasers. These mini burgers may be small in stature, but they’re packed with all the juicy flavor and satisfying bite of their full-sized counterparts. Perfect for parties, casual get-togethers, or even weeknight dinners, these little guys are as fun to eat as they are to make.

What makes bite size burgers so irresistible is their versatility. You can make them with classic ground beef, or mix it up with ground chicken, turkey, or even plant-based alternatives. The key is keeping the patties small – typically two to three inches wide and well-seasoned. A bit of salt, pepper, and garlic powder goes a long way, but you can also get creative with smoky paprika, Worcestershire sauce, or chopped onions mixed into the meat.

To cook, simply grill or pan-fry the patties for a few minutes on each side until nicely browned and cooked through. Pair them with mini burger buns or soft dinner rolls, and the fun really begins. Set up a slider bar with toppings like cheddar cheese, pickles, caramelized onions, avocado slices, bacon, spicy mayo, or BBQ sauce. This lets everyone build their own dream burger and adds a playful, interactive element to your meal.

Bite-size burgers are also a great option for kids or for serving a large group, as they’re easy to hold and portion. They make fantastic appetizers for game day or cocktail parties, and when paired with crispy fries or a colorful salad, they also shine as a full meal.

Whether you’re hosting or just looking for something fun and delicious, bite-size burgers are always a hit. Their small size makes them perfect for sampling different flavor combinations, and their big flavor ensures they disappear fast. Grab a napkin (or two) and dig in!

I love this recipe, but it took longer than 10 minutes like it says!

I make burgers every week and I can say, olive oil is the key to juiciness.

Easy peasy, but I added cheese and it was 10/10!

Cheese sounds like a great idea! I never thought of that.

Not enough flavor, really bland. Probably won’t make again.

I totally get what you mean! I added some spices and it made a big difference. Maybe try some garlic powder next time?

I dunno, the recipe seemed too simple. Are they really good? 🤔

    1. 5 stars
I tried these, and they’re super tasty! Sometimes simple is best. Trust me, you’ll love ’em!

    2. User avatar kathryn.johns1972 says:

      3 stars
Honestly, they might be too plain for some. What about adding cheese or some sauce? Just a thought!

  6. User avatar jim.gibson says:

    5 stars
These burgers are so cute! Perfect for a party!

  7. User avatar corine.baumbach97 says:

Wait a sec, can you use turkey instead of beef? 🤨

  8. User avatar lionel.treutel says:

My kids loved these mini burgers! They ate them all! 😊

  9. User avatar ronald.bernhard says:

    2 stars
Burgers were ok, but buns got soggy fast. 😕

  10. User avatar daryl.torphy52 says:

    5 stars
I made these with turkey instead of beef and they turned out awesome!

  11. 3 stars
Not bad, but mine turned out a little bland even with the salt/pepper. Next time I’ll season the beef more aggressively or add something like onion powder. Still, the assembly was easy.

    1. User avatar eusebio.nienow1980 says:

      2 stars
Mine was bland too 😕 I followed it exactly. Maybe I should’ve cooked longer? Or maybe the buns were the problem… idk. I’ll try onion powder next time though.

    2. User avatar fiona.pfeffer says:

      4 stars
Yeah I’ve had that happen too—0.5 tsp “to taste” isn’t always enough for 0.5 lb beef. I started adding garlic powder + a pinch of smoked paprika and it fixed it for me.

  12. User avatar basementDweller says:

    4 stars
I only had regular buns, but they still turned out good. Will try with mini next time!

  13. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    1 star
Honestly, I don’t get the hype. Mini buns are cute but the burger itself tasted like just beef + salt + pepper. Needs more seasoning.

  14. User avatar basementDweller says:

    5 stars
Bite size? More like bite infrequent! They were gone in seconds! 😄

  15. User avatar hilde.grimes says:

    1 star
These burgers look like feeding a toddler. Not for an adult’s dinner!

Good but I make better burgers on my BBQ. These are too small.

    1. User avatar kindra.jones66 says:

BBQ is king! But these little burgers have their own charm. They’re cute! 🍔

  19. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    3 stars
Not bad but the patties were a bit dry. Maybe more seasoning next time?

    1. 5 stars
I totally agree! I added some garlic powder and they turned out great. Definitely need more flavor!

  20. User avatar katia.okon63 says:

    5 stars
These were super quick and actually turned out juicy for mini patties. The seasoning was simple but perfect—definitely making again for game night.

  21. 5 stars
These are absolutely delicious! My kids loved them.

  23. User avatar jong.bogan50 says:

Sounds too simple. Are these even real burgers? Where’s the flavor?

  24. User avatar silas.schumm72 says:

Didn’t turn out right for me, my patties fell apart. How do they stay together?

  25. User avatar evan.damore77 says:

    5 stars
Burgers are fire 🔥!!! I added BBQ sauce, so good!

  26. User avatar sima.harvey says:

    3 stars
They taste good, but I found them a bit small. Next time, I’ll make ’em bigger.

    1. User avatar Pizpot Gargravarr says:

      4 stars
I agree! A little bigger would make them perfect. Plus, who doesn’t love a big burger? 🍔

  27. User avatar jessie.klein says:

    5 stars
Easy recipe! I made these for a party and they disappeared quick. Will make again!

  28. 4 stars
Easy to make but why do they call it ‘bite size’? I bit it and it was just gone! 😂

  29. User avatar phillis.davis74 says:

    4 stars
delicious!!! 🤤 but next time i will use bigger buns.

  30. User avatar otelia.abbott says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I wish the recipe had included a sauce or seasoning beyond salt/pepper. They taste good, just kinda plain without ketchup/mustard on top.

  31. 5 stars
    Yummy!!! 😋

    1. User avatar conrad.wilderman38 says:

      3 stars
They seem easy to make, but what’s the secret sauce? 🤔

    2. 5 stars
Looks delicious! Can’t wait to try these burgers! 🍔

  32. User avatar abe.will99 says:

    1 star
Didnt like it. The meat was too greasy. I won’t make these again.

  33. 3 stars
Okay, but are mini burgers really necessary? 😅 They were tasty, just took longer than I expected because forming patties is a whole thing.

  34. User avatar Questular Rontok says:

    4 stars
For the salt and pepper, I went a little heavier because I’m not afraid of flavor. Turned out great—would make again.

    1. User avatar tequila.heller says:

      5 stars
Love that attitude 😄 I’m also usually a little heavy-handed with salt/pepper and it really makes the patties pop. Glad it worked out!

  35. User avatar brandon.grady80 says:

    2 stars
Why do u put olive oil in burgers?? 🤔

  36. User avatar rodney.rice says:

    5 stars
    mmmm burgers! 🍔

  37. 4 stars
Tried this but added cheese, it was sooo good! Thanks!

    1. 5 stars
Cheese sounds like a great addition! I might try that next time. 😋

  38. User avatar jonnie.kutch1980 says:

    2 stars
Sounds good, but how can you call them burgers without cheese?

  39. User avatar Leighann Morissette says:

    5 stars
These are so cute! Perfect for my kids’ party. They gobbled them up!

  40. User avatar emile.bartell1995 says:

    5 stars
    Yummy! Perfect for game night!

  41. 3 stars
I was skeptical about this recipe. How do I know if the beef is cooked properly? I like my burgers medium!

    1. User avatar necole.satterfield53 says:

      3 stars
I just eyeball it. If they look brown but still juicy, it’s good! Who needs thermometers? 😄

    2. User avatar darell.dubuque50 says:

      5 stars
To know if your burgers are medium, you can use a meat thermometer. Aim for an internal temperature of about 160°F. That’ll make sure they are cooked just right!

  42. User avatar leif.johnson14 says:

    2 stars
Honestly? It’s just burgers. Nothing special. Would’ve been better with cheese and sauce.

    1. User avatar tory.macgyver71 says:

      4 stars
I mean… it *is* bite-size burgers, not gourmet. But adding cheese and sauce would definitely level it up. Still, the tomato + lettuce makes it feel fresher than plain burgers.

  43. User avatar royal.keeling47 says:

    4 stars
Simple recipe, but the timing helped a lot. My patties were a bit thick so I needed closer to 5 minutes per side, still good though.

  44. User avatar Fenchurch says:

    5 stars
My kids loved these bite-size burgers. I got them to help shape the patties, which made it fun. Will definitely make again!

  45. User avatar ali.connelly73 says:

    5 stars
Yum! Quick and easy! I made them on the grill instead and they were fantastic!

    1. User avatar Shaddam Corrino IV says:

      5 stars
Grilling sounds awesome! I gotta try that next time. Did you add any cheese?

  46. User avatar clay.larson says:

    2 stars
The patties were too small. I wanted a bigger bite! Kinda dissapointing.

  47. User avatar carleen.koelpin says:

    4 stars
Super easy and quick to make! Perfect for a weekday dinner.

  48. 4 stars
Super easy and honestly kind of addictive. I used fresh ground pepper and it really pops. Next time I’ll toast the mini buns for like 1 minute so they don’t get soggy.

  49. User avatar jefferson.kautzer says:

    2 stars
Can you really call these burgers? They’re more like tiny meatballs on bread.

    1. User avatar carlyn.gleichner says:

      2 stars
Nah, they ain’t burgers. Just fancy meatballs. Where’s the beef?

    2. 4 stars
They’re called bite-size burgers for a reason! They’re perfect for parties.

  50. User avatar Restless Draugr says:

    4 stars
I don’t get why people love burgers this size—too much work for tiny bites 😅 Still, they were tasty and my kids actually ate them.

  51. 4 stars
Buns were tiny lol but it worked. Tasted good!

    1. User avatar morgan.hills71 says:

      5 stars
Tiny burgers are the way to go 😄 Glad they cooked through and still tasted good!

  52. User avatar basementDweller says:

    3 stars
I don’t think the olive oil is necessary. Just use butter! Way better flavor.

  53. User avatar marcos.kuphal60 says:

    3 stars
I don’t know about this extra virgin oil stuff… Can I just use vegetable oil?

    1. 4 stars
I think vegetable oil would work just fine! Just make sure you don’t use too much. I’m no chef, but I use it all the time!

  54. 4 stars
Simple and tasty. I was worried about overcooking since they’re so mini, but browning looked good and they stayed tender. I used fresh pepper and it really made a difference.

  55. 1 star
Meh. 0.5 pound for 6 buns is like, super small. Coulda used more beef or bigger buns, you know?

  56. 2 stars
Why not just use regular burger buns? This seems unnecessary. Also, ground beef is not healthy.

  57. User avatar miquel.bechtelar86 says:

    5 stars
These were great! My kids loved them!

    1. User avatar beryl.murazik24 says:

      5 stars
I’m so glad to hear that! These are perfect for kids! 🥳

    2. User avatar antoine.ullrich2014 says:

      2 stars
Really? I tried them and my kids didn’t like them at all. Maybe it was the beef?

  58. User avatar garrett.auer56 says:

    4 stars
I followed it exactly and they browned fast, like maybe 2-3 minutes instead of 4. Easy recipe—great with a quick sauce.

  59. User avatar dannielle.moore56 says:

    1 star
Why you put olive oil? That’s not how I do burgers!!!

  60. 5 stars
These were such a fun little dinner—perfect portion size and they cooked really fast. I kept them on the smaller side like the recipe said and they browned nicely. The tomato + lettuce combo made them feel fresh. 5/5 for convenience!

  61. User avatar tad.leuschke says:

    4 stars
I forgot to buy tomatoes, used pickles instead. Still yummy!

  62. 4 stars
I didn’t even get the tomatoes, I used pickles instead, still good but not the same. Lol!

  63. User avatar loyd.treutel12 says:

    3 stars
Pretty tasty, but I wish it said what temperature the beef should be cooked to. I just guessed and it turned out okay.

    1. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—“cooked through” is vague. I usually go by temp instead of guessing: 160°F for ground beef. Glad yours came out okay though!

  64. User avatar marcelo.crooks says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical about 3-4 minutes per side with that thickness. Mine were a little overcooked, but the buns saved it.

    1. User avatar romaine.mertz says:

      4 stars
Yeah I get you—3–4 min/side depends a lot on patty thickness and skillet heat. If mine start looking too dark too fast, I usually lower the heat a bit and cook a tad longer. Glad the buns helped yours though!

  65. 5 stars
These mini burgers are so cute! I made them for my kids and they loved ’em!

    1. User avatar dinorah.macejkovic62 says:

      5 stars
Aww that’s awesome! Kids love anything they can hold in their tiny hands! 😍

    2. User avatar patricia.strosin2010 says:

      2 stars
Cute? I dunno, they look pretty basic. Where’s the cheese?!!

  66. User avatar delpha.schamberger says:

    4 stars
Good basic recipe. I used regular olive oil and it still worked. Next time I’ll add a little garlic powder because I like my burgers more flavorful.

  67. User avatar shaun.ryan63 says:

    3 stars
Good concept, but 0.5 lb of beef only made a few patties for me. Maybe my buns were bigger? Either way, flavor was nice.

    1. User avatar shannon.batz24 says:

      4 stars
Yeah, that sounds about right—mini buns can really stretch the yield. I usually weigh/press my patties to match the bun size so I get a consistent count.

  68. 1 star
    Burgers??? ok lol

  69. User avatar clarinda.skiles56 says:

    3 stars
The ingredient list is so minimal it feels too basic… I added cheese and a little garlic powder and now it’s a 5-star vibe.

    1. User avatar vito.gislason says:

      5 stars
I know what you mean—it’s super simple, but mini burgers don’t need a ton. Your cheese + garlic powder twist sounds legit though. 🍔

  70. User avatar Samwise Gamgee says:

    3 stars
My buns came out kinda dry because I assembled too early and waited. If you’re keeping warm in the oven, don’t overdo it. Flavor was still nice.

  71. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    3 stars
Quick question: do the buns actually stay warm if you “keep warm in a preheated oven”?? I did 200°F and they dried out a bit.

  72. User avatar louise.mayert75 says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and mine were kinda dry. Maybe I overcooked them, but 3-4 min per side seems short/long depending on pan. Would try lower heat next time.

  73. User avatar Lunkwill and Fook says:

    5 stars
Bite size? More like bite a few at a time! 😂

  74. User avatar len.halvorson73 says:

    3 stars
Meh, kinda basic. I wish they had more flavor or something. Maybe add cheese next time?

  75. User avatar rickey.becker1983 says:

    4 stars
3-4 minutes per side felt a bit short for my pan—mine took closer to 5 each. Not a fail, just pay attention to thickness.

  76. User avatar Meriadoc Brandybuck says:

    4 stars
Ground beef turned out juicy, but I’m confused about cooking “3-4 minutes per side” — depends so much on thickness and heat. Mine browned fast then needed longer inside.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—“3–4 minutes per side” is such a rough guide. With thicker patties or hotter/colder pans you’ll need more time to get the center to fully cook. I usually go by doneness: once the outside’s nicely browned, I check that the inside is cooked through (and for beef, I aim for ~160°F/71°C). Next time, try making them a bit thinner or start lowering the heat if they’re browning too fast.

  77. User avatar Agustin Jaskolski V says:

    5 stars
These are perfect for parties—tiny burgers are just more fun to eat. I cooked mine a touch longer and they stayed juicy. The tomato + lettuce combo really brightens them up.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—tiny burgers are way more fun at a party. I’m glad your extra cooking time didn’t dry them out. That tomato + lettuce combo sounds perfect.

  78. User avatar thurman.lynch says:

    4 stars
I followed the recipe pretty much exactly. The flavor is simple but good—salt and pepper do a lot. Next time I’ll add cheese because I’m biased.

  79. 4 stars
Good flavor, but mine shrank a bit. Next time I’ll press them slightly thinner/less packed. Still delicious though!

  80. User avatar Fritz Zemlak says:

    3 stars
Might be a little plain as written. Salt and pepper are fine, but I think it needs a sauce or seasoning blend—otherwise it tastes like… just meat.

  81. User avatar Ms. Josiah Herman says:

    5 stars
These were honestly so easy and perfect for a quick dinner. I made the patties a little smaller and they cooked evenly—buns stayed nice and soft. Will do again!

    1. 5 stars
Love hearing that! Making the patties smaller is such a good call for even cooking. 😊

  82. User avatar antone.pagac73 says:

    2 stars
I accidentally used regular olive oil (not extra virgin) and it still tasted fine… also i burnt one side a lil lol. Overall good flavor though.

    1. User avatar melida.keeling33 says:

      5 stars
Honestly that checks out—olive oil is olive oil. If you used regular, it won’t be as flavorful as extra virgin, but it can still work great. And burning one side “a lil” is very on-brand for burgers 😂 Still, glad the overall flavor came through!

    2. User avatar brandee.predovic2008 says:

      3 stars
Wait… if it tasted fine with regular olive oil, why does the recipe even say extra virgin? Also 3-4 minutes per side—mine would’ve been raw at that time. Maybe your patties were thinner? Either way, nice save with the flavor 😅

  83. User avatar cole.terry1973 says:

    4 stars
Easy peasy! I added some cheese on top, yum!

    1. User avatar lenore.prohaska says:

      5 stars
Cheese sounds delicious! I’ll try that next time.

  84. User avatar sydney.runolfsdottir19 says:

    4 stars
Just like my mom made but she used ketchup too. Could use a sauce!

    1. 3 stars
Ketchup sounds good! But is that really how you make it? I prefer straight-up burgers without extra stuff.

  85. User avatar tona.hartmann says:

    5 stars
These were so cute and tasty! Perfect for my kid’s bday party!

  86. 3 stars
Not bad. I like mini burgers, but I wish there was a sauce or something—just tomato and lettuce felt a little plain.

  87. User avatar eliseo.christiansen says:

    3 stars
Not bad at all, but mine came out a little dry. I think I cooked them closer to 5 minutes per side instead of 3-4, oops. Still tasty though—would make again and just watch the heat more carefully.

    1. User avatar simon.purdy48 says:

      5 stars
Ah yep, 5 minutes a side would definitely dry them out a bit. Next time just pull them when they’re browned and still juicy—maybe even check a minute early. Glad it was still tasty though!

  88. User avatar cristopher.hackett says:

    2 stars
umm ok i tried but my patties shrinked a lot and got kinda dry. maybe my skillet was too hot? also buns were toasted but my tomatoes were watery. could be just me tho lol

  89. 2 stars
Could’ve used more seasoning. Salt and pepper alone are kinda bland unless your beef is really good.

  90. 3 stars
I followed it mostly, but I think the salt amount is a little low for 0.5 lb beef. Next time I’ll salt the beef more before shaping.

  91. 5 stars
These were so quick and actually tasted like real burgers—just in snack form. Perfect for a game night. I kept them a little smaller and they cooked faster too.

    1. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

      5 stars
Love this idea—snack-size burgers are perfect for game night. I always worry mini patties will dry out, but your cooking time makes sense.

  92. User avatar johnna.goyette7 says:

    3 stars
I tried keeping them warm in the oven like the recipe says… buns got a bit dry. Still tasted good though.

I’m skeptical about “keep warm in a preheated oven” without a temperature/time. Mine sat too long and the buns got kinda tough. Flavor is good, but give us more specifics please!

Totally fair—“keep warm” is too vague. I usually do 200°F (about 95°C) and keep them in there for ~10 minutes max with foil over top. If they sit longer, I agree they can dry out and get tough. Flavor’s worth it though—thanks for the heads up!

Super easy, but I think 3-4 minutes per side might depend on patty thickness. Mine needed an extra minute to fully cook through. Still delicious though.

I followed it exactly and my buns got soggy for some reason… maybe I assembled too early. Flavor was okay though. Next time I’ll keep the lettuce dry.

That makes sense—lettuce can dump water and make the buns go soggy fast, especially if they’re assembled early. Also, tomato juices might be soaking in too. Next time try drying the lettuce/tomato well (paper towel) and assemble right before serving. Glad the flavor still came out okay!

Buns + lettuce + tomato = cute little burgers! My kids ate them all. I did use extra pepper because why not. 10/10

Honestly felt like a burger sandwich, not a “recipe.” Like… ground beef + salt + pepper + bun. But hey, it works!

lol i mean it IS burgers tho 😅 like bun + beef + seasoning… what else you expect. I added a lil garlic powder and it was way better. Worked for me!

I get what you mean, but honestly simple wins. The instructions are basically spot-on for making quick mini burgers, and the bun + toppings combo does feel like a sandwich in the best way.

Mine didn’t brown evenly. I think the skillet wasn’t hot enough. Also, I used regular pepper and it wasn’t as aromatic.

That makes sense—if the skillet wasn’t truly hot, you’ll get patchy browning. I’ve had best luck using medium-high and letting the oil shimmer before adding the patties. Freshly ground pepper can make a difference too, but regular pepper should still work—maybe just use a bit more and taste the beef mix.

The instructions are super straightforward. I love that it says serve immediately—these are best right off the skillet.

Totally agree—serving right off the skillet makes a huge difference. The patties get that perfect browned crust. Delicious.

Mm yeah, straight forward. I did 3-4 min but my burger came out a little pink still, so next time I’ll cook longer. Also is it definitely 6 buns? Seems like not enough for 0.5 lb beef 😅

These came out perfectly juicy for how small the patties are—3-4 minutes per side was spot on. I added a tiny bit of garlic powder just for fun, but the base recipe is great. Definitely making again.

I’m not gonna lie, mine were a little dry. I think I overcooked them while waiting for the buns to toast. Still tasted good though.

These were awesome—quick, simple, and the mini buns make them feel extra fun. I used fresh cracked pepper and they browned nicely in 3 minutes per side.

I tried making them for a party and they looked adorable. Everyone grabbed two. The tomato + lettuce combo is simple but fresh.

Aww that sounds like the perfect party food 😄 Two each is a win! I love that tomato + lettuce keeps it light without anything fussy.

    2. 4 stars
Mine were cute too but I think I overcooked them a bit—3-4 minutes per side felt fast on my stove. Also I used way too much tomato lol. Still tasty though!

Pretty solid, easy weeknight recipe. I added a little garlic powder to the beef and it tasted even better. Next time I’ll toast the buns too.

Good idea with the bite-size patties! I added a little garlic powder to the beef and used extra lettuce. Still turned out juicy.

The instructions are super clear and the cook time is spot on. Lettuce on a hot burger is risky but it worked for me—served right away.

Not gonna lie, mine were bland. I know it says salt to taste but I measured and it still felt flat. Maybe my pepper was old or I needed onions/garlic.

I don’t know—half a pound for 6 mini burgers feels like it should be better proportioned, and the toppings are super basic. For the effort, I’d rather do full-size burgers with cheese and sauce.

Quick and easy, but 3–4 minutes per side felt a little fast for my thicker patties. I ended up adding 1 more minute and they were spot on. Still delicious!

    1. 5 stars
Good catch! Thicker patties definitely need longer than the 3–4 minutes per side—glad the extra minute did the trick 😊

These were shockingly good for mini burgers—juicy and perfectly portioned. I followed the 3-4 minutes per side and they came out browned without drying out.
