Spinach and Strawberry Salad

July 10, 2025

Sometimes the best salads are the simplest ones, and spinach and strawberry salad is a perfect example. This fresh, colorful dish combines tender baby spinach with juicy, sweet strawberries for a refreshing blend of flavors and textures that work in perfect harmony. It’s light, healthy, and just fancy enough to impress without trying too hard.

The magic of this salad is in the contrast. The earthiness of spinach pairs beautifully with the bright, slightly tart sweetness of strawberries. Toss in some crumbled feta or goat cheese for a creamy, tangy note, and sprinkle on a handful of toasted nuts, like almonds, walnuts, or pecans, for a satisfying crunch. The combination is vibrant, both in taste and appearance.

A light vinaigrette ties everything together. Something with a touch of acidity, like balsamic vinegar or lemon juice, enhances the strawberries and brings out the natural flavor of the spinach. Add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and you’ve got a dressing that’s perfectly balanced and totally addictive.

Spinach and strawberry salad is incredibly versatile. It works as a starter for a spring or summer meal, a light lunch on its own, or even as a side dish at a barbecue or picnic. You can bulk it up with grilled chicken or quinoa if you want something more filling, or keep it simple for a clean, refreshing bite.

What makes this salad so appealing is how fresh it feels. It’s not weighed down by heavy dressings or too many ingredients. It celebrates seasonal produce and delivers big on flavor with just a few thoughtful additions. And thanks to its beautiful color palette, it looks as good as it tastes.

Just tried it, and the almonds make it even better! Crunchy! 😋 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don’t get why people put fruit in salad. Seems weird. Just lettuce is fine for me.

My wife loved it, but I’m not a fan of feta. Could you please recommend a substitute?

  7. User avatar denyse.smith27 says:

Pretty good, but I think it needs some bacon for flavor. Maybe a little crispy chicken too.

  8. User avatar elvis.cronin99 says:

I’m skeptical about balsamic on salad, but I gave it a shot. It was okay, I guess.. ⭐⭐

Delicious salad! I made it and everyone ate it all up. Even my kids liked it! 👍

I made this and it was too sour for me. Maybe use less vinegar next time?

I tried it, but I’m not a fan of feta. Maybe use cheddar instead? Also, more honey please! ⭐⭐⭐

    1. 2 stars
Cheddar in a salad??? That’s weird, lol. But if you don’t like feta, putting cheddar might work. Just not in my book! 🤷‍♂️

    2. User avatar Dwarven Shpere says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean! Feta can be a bit strong for some. Cheddar would definitely change the flavor profile, but hey, if you like it then go for it! And more honey sounds sweet! 🍯

  11. 5 stars
This salad is amazing! The strawberries add a nice sweetness. Definitely a keeper!

  12. User avatar rosella.swift4 says:

This is the best salad ever! The strawberries and feta are a magic combo! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Salad? Too plain for me. I prefer a burger! 🍔

I tried this but don’t like the feta. Can I leave it out?
    Still tasted alright tho.

    1. User avatar phillip.kshlerin says:

      5 stars
You can totally leave out the feta! Just add more almonds or maybe some walnuts for crunch. Glad you liked it!

  15. User avatar carleen.kihn2017 says:

    5 stars
Yum! The honey in the dressing is genius! Will definitely make again!

  16. User avatar gussie.ryan89 says:

Easy to make, but it was just okay for me. Kinda bland, maybe too much spinach.

  17. User avatar allison.reinger2019 says:

Not a fan of berries in salad. Why would you put fruit in a salad? Weird combo.

  18. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

  19. User avatar Effrafax of Wug says:

Spinach? I thought it had kale? 🤔
    Anyway, it was good!

  20. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    2 stars
Too many ingredients for such a simple salad. 4 cups spinach is too much, like who can eat that much!

  21. User avatar tennie.crist99 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about the honey + balsamic together—tastes like dessert to me. Maybe I’m just not a sweet-savory person.

    1. 4 stars
Totally get that “sweet-savory” concern. The honey definitely pushes it toward dessert-y, but I’ve found that using just a touch less honey (like 1/2 tbsp) keeps the balsamic tang without going too sweet.

    2. User avatar gabriela.bergstrom62 says:

      3 stars
I thought it sounded weird too, but the strawberries are already sweet, so the honey kinda makes sense. Still—balsamic + honey can be strong. Next time I’d add honey last or taste as you go. Not 100% convinced, but it’s solid.

  22. User avatar vaughn.tremblay says:

    5 stars
This salad was a hit at my dinner party! The combo of strawberries and feta is to die for! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  23. User avatar sherron.hoppe1983 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, my feta was kinda dry so the salad felt a bit off at first. Also I used spinach stems too and it was weirdly chewy. Next time I’ll use baby spinach only.

  24. 5 stars
YUM! I could eat this every day! <3

  25. 4 stars
Balsamic vinegar? I thought it was for fish! Thought this would be weird but it was sooo good!

    1. 5 stars
I was skeptical too at first! But trust me, the sweetness of the strawberries with balsamic is a game changer. Definitely gonna make this again!

  26. User avatar willie.hackett says:

    2 stars
Honestly? Just mix and eat. This whole recipe is very basic. Like, anyone can do this.

  27. User avatar will.metz says:

    3 stars
I didn’t have feta cheese, so I used cheddar instead. It was okay, but not the same. Still edible tho.

  28. 5 stars
This slapped. Like sweet, salty, and crunchy all at once. I served it with grilled chicken and it was a vibe.

    1. User avatar cleveland.marquardt33 says:

      5 stars
Right?! The sweet-sticky honey with the balsamic is perfect. Grilled chicken sounds like an awesome pairing—def trying that.

  29. User avatar Quickbeam says:

    4 stars
I made it and the spinach wilted a bit—maybe I dressed it too early? If you’re meal-prepping, dress right before serving!

    1. User avatar mohamed.walter90 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, dressing early can make spinach get kind of limp fast. I usually do the vinaigrette right at serving time—otherwise it turns sad 😅

    2. User avatar ginette.vandervort48 says:

      3 stars
Wait, I thought spinach should be washed and then just soak in vinaigrette? I’ve never timed it like that lol. But maybe that’s why mine wilted too—mine was wet too.

  30. User avatar krista.konopelski says:

    1 star
Do you really try to eat salad for a meal? Sounds boring, but my wife loves anything green.

  31. User avatar elvira.feest32 says:

    2 stars
Wait, 4 cups spinach and only 1 cup strawberries? Seems like too much greens. I doubled the strawberries and it was way better.

  32. User avatar vinnie.reinger76 says:

    5 stars
This salad is so fresh and delicious! The strawberries really pop. Will make it again for sure!

  33. User avatar Stacey Renner says:

    4 stars
Making this for my kids, hope they like it. They usually prefer junk food 😕

  34. User avatar tameika.muller93 says:

    5 stars
Simple and tasty! I added some grilled chicken for protein—made it more filling.

    1. 5 stars
Sounds delicious! Adding chicken is a great idea. I bet it added a nice flavor!

    2. 2 stars
Grilled chicken? Isn’t that a bit much for a salad? I prefer it simple.

  35. 3 stars
Pretty decent but I added grilled chicken to it. It felt kinda empty, you know? ⭐⭐⭐

  36. User avatar johnathan.lueilwitz93 says:

    3 stars
Kinda bland. I think it needs something crunchy or more seasoning, maybe some croutons next time?

  37. User avatar rickey.schmidt51 says:

    5 stars
Tried it tonight and it was honestly better than I expected. The honey vinaigrette clings nicely and the almonds give a great crunch. 10/10 for something quick.

  38. User avatar justin.watsica60 says:

    4 stars
I liked it, but my greens were kind of wet after tossing. Next time I’m drying the spinach better before mixing.

  39. User avatar ophelia.lemke51 says:

    2 stars
Not a fan. The combination of flavors was just off for me. Maybe too much vinegar?

    1. User avatar ellsworth.stroman says:

      3 stars
Too much vinegar? I dunno, I think that’s what gives it a kick. But hey, everyone has their tastes!

    2. User avatar Duncan Idaho says:

      4 stars
I actually love this salad! The vinegar adds a nice tang with the sweetness of the strawberries. Maybe try less next time? Just a thought!

  40. User avatar basementDweller says:

    2 stars
I don’t know about this salad. Spinach and strawberries feel funny together. Like mixing milk and fish? 🤷‍♂️ ⭐⭐

  41. User avatar celsa.wiegand21 says:

    4 stars
The vinaigrette was a little too sweet for me at 1 tbsp honey, so I cut it in half next time. Still good though.

  42. User avatar carmella.kutch says:

    4 stars
I tried this with raspberries instead of strawberries, and it was still yum! Who knew it’d work? ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    1. User avatar Ta'log Naeg says:

      5 stars
That’s awesome! I’ve never thought about using raspberries. Might have to give it a try next time! 🍓

  43. 4 stars
Yea, I tried this and it was tasty! But honestly, shouldn’t we add some chicken or something? Feels too light!

    1. 5 stars
Adding chicken sounds like a great idea! Could make it more filling for sure. I’ll try it next time!

  44. 5 stars
This was crazy refreshing—sweet strawberries with the balsamic/honey combo is perfect. I used a little more feta and it tasted even better.

  45. User avatar isaac.runolfsson45 says:

    3 stars
I followed the recipe but mine was a little too tangy—maybe my balsamic was stronger? Next time I’ll use slightly less vinegar or more honey.

    1. User avatar adam.grimes says:

      5 stars
That sounds plausible—balsamic can vary a lot. I usually start with a slightly smaller splash and add more honey if it tastes too sharp. Next batch will be perfect!

  46. User avatar man.lehner2022 says:

    5 stars
Easy peasy and fresh! Loved making this for lunch, will definitely do again! 🌱❤️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  47. User avatar tennille.kiehn54 says:

    5 stars
This combo is surprisingly perfect—sweet strawberries + salty feta is a win. I used a little less honey and it still tasted amazing.

  48. User avatar belinda.bernier1959 says:

    4 stars
Made this for lunch and it actually felt fancy. I added a little extra pepper because I’m that person 😅

  49. 5 stars
5 stars just for the flavors. Also, I didn’t measure the honey carefully and it still worked??

  50. 2 stars
Salad? Honey + balsamic?? Idk, sounds like it’s trying to be fancy but ends up sweet-sour salad water. Still, I might try it once…

  51. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    5 stars
Delicious 😍. My kids even liked it. A great way to get them to eat greens!

  52. User avatar shelton.ernser says:

    4 stars
Honestly… salad recipes always feel bland to me, but this one didn’t. Maybe strawberries are the cheat code lol.

    1. User avatar Mandy Bode DDS says:

      3 stars
I dunno… I’ve tried strawberry salads before and they always end up kinda watery. How do you keep it from getting soggy? Also is feta enough or should it be more cheese?

    2. User avatar berneice.muller12 says:

      5 stars
Right?? Strawberries really do bring the whole salad to life. The balsamic-honey combo sounds perfect with that sweet + tangy balance.

  53. 2 stars
Honestly it was ok. The strawberries were kinda sour so everything tasted off. Also I used regular vinegar not balsamic and eh.

  54. User avatar traci.howe64 says:

    3 stars
I forgot the honey and it tasted kinda bland! Made it again with honey and WOW what a difference! ⭐⭐⭐

  55. 3 stars
The instructions are okay, but “serve immediately” is kinda annoying if you’re feeding people. It still tasted good after 30 minutes though.

  56. 2 stars
um i dont get it—balsamic and honey? seems too much sweet. but i can see how it would work with strawberries

  57. User avatar robt.spinka37 says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this salad! The sweetness of the strawberries with the saltiness of the feta is just perfect! Will definitely make again.

  58. 5 stars
This salad is sooo good! The berries make it sweet and the feta is just perfect. Definitely making again!

  59. 5 stars
This is the kind of salad that looks fancy but takes like 5 minutes. My friends asked for the recipe. Great.

  60. 5 stars
Really liked the vinaigrette! The balsamic honey balance makes the whole salad feel “fancy” without much work.

  61. User avatar rebecca.buckridge80 says:

    5 stars
This combo is weirdly perfect—sweet strawberries + salty feta with that balsamic honey dressing is a win. Didn’t even need extra toppings.

  62. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical about honey + balsamic on fruit salads. But I tried it and it was surprisingly good. Would make again.

  63. User avatar Restless Draugr says:

    4 stars
This is actually kind of fancy for how easy it is. I used toasted almonds and it made a big difference.

  64. User avatar kay.wintheiser88 says:

    5 stars
Delicious and refreshing! Perfect for a hot summer day. Who knew healthy could taste this good?

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan Vegeta says:

      5 stars
I’ve made this salad twice already! It really is so good. Spinach and strawberries together are just amazing!

  65. User avatar harmony.bauch2000 says:

    5 stars
This is such a fresh combo—sweet strawberries with the tangy balsamic and salty feta is perfect. I added a little extra pepper and it really popped. Would totally make again!

  66. 3 stars
Not bad, but the spinach wilts quickly once dressed. I served it right away like the recipe says, and it was still a little sad by the end.

  67. 3 stars
Salt and pepper to taste… vague much? lol I ended up winging it and it turned out okay. Would make again if I had exact measurements.

  68. 4 stars
I forgot the salt and pepper and it still tasted decent because the feta is salty. Honestly pretty forgiving.

    1. User avatar jan.cruickshank says:

      5 stars
Honestly I’m impressed it still worked without salt/pepper—feta really does a lot. I like that the vinaigrette has honey too; it kind of balances everything out.

    2. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

      3 stars
No salt AND no pepper? Hmm… I mean feta is salty, sure, but I feel like it would be kinda flat for me. Next time I’d at least add pepper—like a lot more. Also I think honey goes with savory less than people say lol.

  69. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    5 stars
I was skeptical about putting strawberries in a salad, but wow. The vinaigrette ties it together really well.

  70. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    3 stars
This was okay, but I think there was too much balsamic. I prefer a different dressing. Maybe it’s just me!

  71. 3 stars
Ehh, I don’t know. Spinach and strawberries? Sounds weird. But I guess it kinda works.

    1. User avatar matthew.keebler says:

      4 stars
I thought the same thing at first, but it’s actually really refreshing! You should try it!

  72. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    1 star
Spinach isn’t in the fruit family, right? This salad is a weird combo. Not for me. 1 star.

  73. User avatar naoma.collier71 says:

    4 stars
Really easy to make but I subbed walnuts instead of almonds and it worked out fine! Also added a lil garlic to the dressing. Yum!

  74. User avatar ofelia.mayer66 says:

    3 stars
The recipe is simple, but the vinaigrette tasted too sweet for me. I’ll cut the honey in half next time.

    1. 4 stars
Hmmm I didn’t find it sweet at all, but I used really tart strawberries. If yours were sweeter, yeah, halve the honey next time. Also balsamic varies a lot.

    2. 5 stars
Totally agree—my first try was also pretty sweet. Cutting the honey sounds like the perfect fix. 🍯

  75. 3 stars
So I did this wrong and added blue cheese instead of feta. Oops! Still tasted alright but probably should follow the recipe next time!

    1. User avatar lucienne.mckenzie says:

      4 stars
Blue cheese? That’s an interesting twist! Glad it still tasted okay. Sometimes improvising leads to good results! 😄

  76. User avatar clarinda.will87 says:

    4 stars
Pretty easy recipe. I usually hate salads but this one held my attention—nice balance. Would recommend.

  77. User avatar kathie.schaefer61 says:

    5 stars
Feta + spinach + strawberries… kinda genius. I might add sliced red onion next time for a little bite.

  78. User avatar piedad.mcglynn76 says:

    4 stars
Almonds were a great crunch. I used feta that was saltier and it made the whole thing better, not worse.

  79. User avatar robin.boyle says:

    5 stars
I tried adding toasted almonds and it made a huge difference. This is one of those salads you actually want to eat.

  80. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

    5 stars
This sounds like such a fresh combo—sweet berries with salty feta is always a win. The honey-balsamic vinaigrette looks perfect.

  81. 3 stars
The feta is a little salty for my taste, so I’ll probably cut back next time. Still a lovely mix of flavors though.

    1. User avatar Effrafax of Wug says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—feta can be pretty salty. I usually do either a little less feta or soak/rinse it quickly before adding. Also worth tasting the vinaigrette first so you can skip some of the salt.

  82. User avatar trent.larson1955 says:

    4 stars
The ingredient list is simple, but the flavors pop. Next time I’ll add some black pepper for extra bite.

  83. 2 stars
Meh… strawberries were good but the balsamic made it taste like pizza sauce?? maybe I used dark balsamic by accident lol.

    1. User avatar wellRespected says:

      4 stars
Haha I totally get what you mean—dark/aged balsamic can get a lot more “saucy” and intense. I usually use regular balsamic (or even a lighter one) and keep the honey in balance. You can also add a tiny splash of extra olive oil next time to mellow it out!

  84. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

    4 stars
Simple ingredients, quick steps—exactly what I like. I used toasted almonds and they added a nice crunch.

    1. User avatar desmond.hauck says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—this is my kind of salad. Toasted almonds are a game changer for the crunch 😋

  85. 5 stars
So fresh and sweet! The balsamic-honey combo is perfect with the strawberries. I added a little extra pepper and it really popped.

  86. 3 stars
Not bad, but mine tasted a bit too sweet. Next time I’ll cut the honey or add more vinegar for balance.

  87. User avatar stefan.wolf33 says:

    4 stars
Seems simple (which I like), but I think the sweetness of the honey might overpower the strawberries if your berries are already super ripe. Maybe reduce honey to 1/2 tbsp?

  88. User avatar paul.fisher1966 says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about honey in balsamic vinaigrette, but it works. Just be careful not to oversalt the feta.

  89. User avatar chloe.homenick says:

    3 stars
Feta felt kinda overpowering. Next time I might use less cheese or add more spinach to mellow it out.

    1. User avatar wellRespected says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—feta can be super punchy in this salad. I’ve had that same issue. I usually cut the feta in half and it’s way better, and extra spinach definitely helps mellow it out.

  90. User avatar jeffry.stanton says:

    3 stars
Good, but I found it a bit sweet for my taste. I’d cut honey in half next time or use less strawberry.

    1. User avatar wellRespected says:

      5 stars
Yeah, that honey can definitely push it sweet—cutting it in half sounds like a perfect fix. I might also add a pinch more salt or a little extra balsamic to balance it out.
