Pecan pie is a beloved dessert that has gained immense popularity over the years. It is a staple in American cuisine, especially during the holiday season. This classic pie has a rich flavor and a delightful combination of sweetness and nuttiness, which makes it a favorite among dessert lovers.
Pecan pie is a rich, sweet, and utterly indulgent dessert that has become a beloved classic, especially during the fall and winter holiday seasons. Known for its buttery, flaky crust and a gooey filling loaded with toasted pecans, this Southern staple brings warmth and nostalgia to any table.
What makes pecan pie truly special is its contrast in textures and deep, caramelized flavor. The filling, typically made with a mixture of corn syrup, brown sugar, butter, and eggs, turns silky and custard-like once baked. As it sets, the pecans rise to the top, creating a toasted, crunchy layer that perfectly complements the smooth interior. Some recipes call for a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt, or even a shot of bourbon to elevate the flavor, adding a subtle complexity without overpowering the pie’s signature sweetness.
While Pecan Pie is undeniably delicious, it is important to note that it is not the healthiest dessert option. The pie’s primary ingredient, pecans, provides several health benefits. They are a good source of healthy fats, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals.
However, it is worth mentioning that Pecan Pie is also made with sugar and butter, which contribute to its rich and decadent taste but also increase its calorie and fat content. Therefore, enjoying Pecan Pie should be treated as an indulgence rather than a regular part of a healthy diet.
Nevertheless, moderation is key, and enjoying a slice of this delectable pie occasionally can be a delightful treat.

Delicious but I forgot to add the vanilla. Still great tho!
Glad it turned out tasty! Vanilla is good, but sounds like you didn’t need it for this pie.
Way too sweet for my taste, even with vanilla. The pecans are great, but I’d cut the sugar or use less syrup.
This pecan pie turned out AMAZING! My family devoured it in minutes. Will definitely make again!
So glad to hear it turned out well! Pecan pie is a family favorite in my house too. What are you pairing it with next time?
This pecan pie was a hit at Thanksgiving! Everyone raved about it. I highly recommend adding whipped cream on top!
I made this for Thanksgiving and it turned out perfectly—gooey in the middle, not runny. The pecans actually taste toasted, which I love. I cooled it longer than the recipe said and it set even better.
SO GOOD! I added a bit of cinnamon. Yum!!
Hey, I just wanna say, this is a great starter. I added chocolate chips and it was bomb!
Solid recipe, but I had to bake closer to 65 minutes. Also, I let the crust crimp but I didn’t trim enough, so the edges got a little dark. Next time I’ll keep an eye on it and maybe tent foil.
350°F seems low? I baked at 350 like it says and it was kinda wobbly after 50 min. Maybe my oven runs cold.
350°F isn’t too low for pecan pie—usually it sets around 50-60 min. If yours was wobbly after 50, that could just mean it needed the full 60 (or a bit more). Also ovens vary a lot; an oven thermometer helps. One thing: it should still jiggle slightly in the center when you pull it, but not look like liquid.
Pecan pie is my favorite!!! 😍
Pecan pie really is the best! I love how sweet and nutty it is. 😋
I dunno, I’ve tried making it before and it didn’t turn out right. The filling was all runny. 😕
It looks easy to make, but can I really trust this recipe? I’ve have made a real pecan pie once.
Pecan nuts are good. Pie good too. I eat it. Yum!
Way too sweet for me, but my family loves it. I think 1 cup sugar + corn syrup is kind of overkill unless you really like dessert.
Pecan pie is overrated, honestly. But I guess some people like it.
This turned out perfectly—golden, set filling with that classic pecan flavor. I let it cool fully and it sliced clean. Will make again!
Yes!! I love when it slices clean—cooling fully makes a huge difference. 🍁
Really good, though mine took closer to 70 minutes to set. Next time I’ll start checking at 45. Still delicious and not too sweet.
Tastes so good but way too sweet for my liking. Less sugar next time, I think.
I totally agree! I found it too sweet too! Maybe using half the sugar would be better.
This pecan pie is the best I’ve ever tried! Super easy to make, too.
I followed the recipe pretty much exactly, but mine took more like 70 minutes to set. Still super tasty though. Next time I’ll check earlier and maybe cover the crust with foil.
Not sure about the ratio. I used “light corn syrup” like it says, but the filling came out more gelatinous than I expected. Still edible, just weird texture for my taste.
Maybe you used the wrong kind? “Light corn syrup” vs regular or even maple syrup… yeah that’s gonna change texture. Also I always underbake like 45 min bc it keeps cooking while it cools. 50-60 might be too long.
Ugh I get what you mean—corn syrup can set up different. Did you mix the eggs/syrup really well, and did you bake it to “slightly puffed” instead of just time? My filling is usually runnier if it comes out too gelatin-y.
