Mixed Berry Chocolate Crumble

August 9, 2023

For those moments when you want something that’s both comforting and indulgent, Mixed Berry Chocolate Crumble is the dessert to turn to. A perfect balance of sweet berries, rich chocolate, and a crispy, buttery topping, this crumble is a crowd-pleaser that brings together the best of both worlds, fresh fruit and decadent chocolate.

The magic of this dessert lies in its simplicity. Fresh mixed berries, think juicy strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, are the star of the show. Their natural sweetness and slight tartness shine through, making them the perfect base for this dish. As the berries bake, they release their juices, creating a luscious, jammy filling that pairs beautifully with the crispy crumble topping.

What elevates this crumble from ordinary to extraordinary is the addition of chocolate. Whether you choose dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or even a bit of both, the rich, melted chocolate swirls through the berry mixture, adding a deep, indulgent flavor. The contrast between the tartness of the berries and the sweetness of the chocolate creates an irresistible combination that is both satisfying and comforting.

The crumble topping is the perfect finishing touch. Made with butter, sugar, and flour, it crisps up beautifully as it bakes, giving each bite a satisfying crunch. For an extra touch of richness, you can mix in a handful of oats or chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.

Mixed Berry Chocolate Crumble is incredibly versatile. Serve it warm out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a classic finish. It also makes a wonderful addition to a brunch spread, or even as an afternoon treat with a cup of coffee or tea.

This dessert is easy to prepare, making it perfect for a weeknight indulgence or a casual gathering with friends and family. Mixed Berry Chocolate Crumble is a delightful way to satisfy your sweet tooth while enjoying the flavors of fresh fruit and chocolate in every bite.

I substituted the butter for coconut oil to make it vegan. Yummy!
