Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken is one of those dishes that never goes out of style. It’s a true classic that brings together the natural juiciness of chicken with the bright, fresh flavors of lemon and aromatic herbs. Whether you’re cooking for a special occasion or just want a comforting dinner, this dish is perfect for any night of the week. It’s easy to prepare, full of flavor, and can be served alongside a variety of sides for a complete, satisfying meal.
The key to a great roasted chicken is in the seasoning. Fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, and parsley add depth and earthiness, while the lemon brightens the whole dish with its zesty, refreshing flavor. The chicken is seasoned both inside and out, ensuring that every bite is infused with flavor. As it roasts, the skin crisps up beautifully, creating a golden, savory crust while keeping the meat tender and juicy on the inside.
One of the best things about Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken is its versatility. You can easily adjust the herbs and seasonings based on what you have on hand or your personal preferences. Add garlic for an extra burst of flavor, or throw in some vegetables like carrots, onions, and potatoes for a one-pan meal. The chicken can be served as-is with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad, or it can be paired with mashed potatoes, rice, or bread for a heartier meal.
Not only is this dish delicious, but it’s also simple to prepare. With a little bit of prep work and some patience while it roasts, you’ll have a meal that looks and tastes like it took much more effort than it really did. Plus, it’s perfect for meal prepping, leftovers can be used for sandwiches, salads, or soups in the days that follow.

Yum! I’m no chef, but even I could make this. I’m gonna try it again for my friends. Lettin’ ya know! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I forgot to baste it. Is that a big deal??
Try adding some honey next time for a sweet touch! Yummy.
meh
I actually loved this recipe! The flavors were amazing. Maybe give it another try?
Meh? What’s so boring about roast chicken? It’s a classic! Do you even like chicken?
Very good but I added some paprika for extra kick! 👍
Decent recipe, but 1 hour 20 minutes feels a bit optimistic for my 5.5 lb bird. I had to add more time and check temp often. Still tasted great though.
Why u gonna squeeze the lemon on the chicken? Sounds weird.
I found it a bit too salty for my taste. Maybe I should’ve used less salt?
I tried to make this, but my chicken burned 🙁. Maybe I did something wrong? I followed the recipe! ⭐⭐
Don’t worry! It happens to the best of us. Maybe the oven was too hot? Try checking the temperature with an oven thermometer next time. 😅
I’m not great in the kitchen, but this was easy enough for me! Smelled great too.
This was the best chicken I’ve ever made! Juicy and flavorful. My family loved it!
That’s awesome! I’m glad it turned out well. I can’t wait to try this recipe myself!
This tasted like “Sunday roast” vibes. Family asked for seconds and my picky eater actually ate the herbs inside the cavity (shocked me).
This recipe is amazing! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. My family loved it.
I made this for my family and they loved it! I’m not a great cook but this was easy.
That’s awesome! I love how easy recipes can bring the family together. I’ll have to try it too!
I tried this but my chicken was dry. I think I cooked it too long? Still, the herbs were nice.
I was skeptical about “dried” thyme when the rosemary is fresh, but wow. The seasoning stuck well and the skin got nice. Will do again.
1 hr and 20 mins?? Takes way longer than that for my oven!! What’s with the time difference?
This chicken was so juicy and flavorful! Definitely a keeper!
The chicken was dry, followed all instructions but it turned out like shoe leather, never cooking chicken again.
I didn’t have rosemary so used oregano, still turned out okay. Or maybe it was bad, who knows?
I followed the recipe exactly but it turned out dry. I think it needs more broth or something.
Is it really necessary to put lemon inside? I skipped it and it turned out fine.
Lemon really adds flavor, but if you liked it without, that’s what matters! Everyone’s taste is different.
5 stars for the taste, but where is the garlic? I think you not need to put it. 😄 Good though!
Perfect dinner for Sunday! Will make again. Thanks!!!
Sounds good, but isn’t it hard to make a whole chicken? I usually stick to just thighs. 🤔
I totally agree! This chicken recipe is a game changer. So juicy and flavorful!
I was skeptical about the lemon, but wow! It really made the flavors pop! So good!
This is my go-to recipe now! Perfect for family dinners. Even the kids loved it!
So glad to hear it worked out for your family! It’s definitely a hit in my house too. 😊
Can I use a frozen chicken? Or does it have to be fresh? Asking for a friend. 🤔
This was amazing! The chicken turned out so juicy and flavorful. My family loved it!
Yum! I added some paprika for extra color. Looked good and tasted even better!
Yummy! I added some onions and carrots to the pan. Will do this again! 🙂
This was the best chicken I’ve ever cooked! So juicy and flavorful!
Wow, that sounds amazing! I need to try this recipe ASAP! Thanks for sharing your success!
This recipe is amazing! The lemon gives it a nice twist! My family loved it.
Easy and quick! I don’t get why people say it’s hard to roast chicken!
Looks good but I don’t know if olive oil is the best choice. Butter ftw! 🧈 #teambutter ⭐⭐⭐
It’s just chicken, how good can it really be? I don’t get it.
I followed the recipe but it came out kinda dry. Not sure what went wrong.
Dry? It was moist for me! Did you use a bigger chicken or something? 🤔
Maybe your oven temp was off? I always check with an oven thermometer to be sure.
Tastes great but improvise with lemon! We only had limes and it worked fine! Yummy!
Made this last night—so juicy! The lemon + herb combo really punches up the flavor without being too fancy. I followed the 165°F exactly and it came out perfect.
Honestly it ain’t that great. My kid wouldn’t touch it. Guess I’m just bad at cooking.
Mine came out kinda dry… I basted every 20 minutes like it said but I forgot to pat it super dry. Also I only had lemon juice, not whole lemon halves—maybe that’s why? Still edible!
