Green matcha popcorn is a fun and flavorful snack that blends the richness of matcha with the light, airy texture of popcorn. This vibrant green treat brings a touch of sophistication and an antioxidant boost to a familiar favorite. Whether you’re looking for a snack to enjoy during movie night, a party, or simply as an afternoon treat, matcha popcorn offers a unique twist that’s sure to impress both matcha lovers and snack enthusiasts alike.
The secret to this popcorn’s deliciousness lies in the matcha powder, which is finely ground green tea leaves that pack a punch of earthy, slightly bitter flavor and a beautiful green hue. When mixed with melted butter or coconut oil, the matcha creates a smooth coating that evenly coats each popped kernel, adding a hint of sweetness and a burst of flavor. The slight bitterness of the matcha is perfectly balanced by a touch of sugar, resulting in a savory yet subtly sweet popcorn that satisfies a variety of taste preferences.
What makes this popcorn even more special is how easy it is to make. Simply pop your popcorn, mix the matcha powder with a little melted butter or oil, and drizzle it over the top. Toss to coat, and you have a colorful, nutritious snack that is ready to go in just minutes. For an extra touch of flavor, you can also add a sprinkle of sea salt, a dash of vanilla, or even some white chocolate chips for a sweet treat.
Not only is this green popcorn delicious, but it also comes with added health benefits. Matcha is packed with antioxidants, which help boost metabolism and improve focus, making this popcorn a great snack choice for those who want a tasty treat that also provides an energy boost. It’s perfect for when you need something light but satisfying.

This is delicious! My kids loved it, and it’s a fun way to eat some healthy matcha. 🌱
Tried making this and it was such a fail. The matcha didn’t mix well and it tasted weird. Never again. 🤢
Um, is it just me or does popcorn with matcha sound kinda gross? I mean, popcorn is supposed to be buttery, right?
I thought the same at first, but you gotta give it a try! It’s actually pretty tasty, the matcha adds a nice twist!
Wow, this sounds interesting! Never thought of matcha popcorn. I can’t wait to try it.
Sounds kinda weird, isn’t popcorn supposed to be salty? Not sure about this matcha thing.
I thought matcha was just for drinks! This is really cool! Can’t wait to make it!
This is so unique! Love the matcha flavor on popcorn! Definitely a 5 star!
This is the best popcorn I’ve ever made! The matcha gives it a unique flavor. I made it for movie night and everyone loved it!
Couldnt find coconut oil so I used butter. Still good but not the same.
Butter sounds like a decent swap! I bet it still tastes good. Maybe try coconut oil next time for a real comparison?
1/4 cup kernels only makes a tiny bowl… seems not worth it unless you’re just sampling. Also matcha powder can be expensive—cheap out and it tastes bad.
Popcorn and matcha? Sounds odd but actually really delish!!
Made it for a party and people were split… some loved it, some hated it. LOL.
