Delicious and sweet fruit-stuffed tang yuan baked to perfection and topped with a rich chocolate sauce.
Ingredients
- Tang Yuan
- 1 cup glutinous rice flour
- 1/3 cup water warm
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Assorted fruits e.g. strawberries, blueberries, mango chunks, for stuffing
- Chocolate Sauce
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, warm water, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small portions and flatten each portion in your palm.
- Place a piece of fruit in the center of each flattened dough portion and wrap the dough around the fruit, forming a ball.
- Place the stuffed tang yuan on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the tang yuan for 20-25 minutes, or until they are slightly golden.

- Remove the saucepan from heat and add the semisweet chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate chips have melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Add the unsalted butter and vanilla extract to the sauce and stir until well combined.
- Once the tang yuan are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
- Serve the fruit-stuffed tang yuan warm, drizzled with the chocolate sauce.

These taste fancy but are super easy to make! My kids loved them too. What a fun dessert!
These are amazing! I used mango and strawberries, delicious! Will make again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Mango and strawberry sound like a perfect combo! Will try that next time. 🍓🥭
How long do they last? Can I make them a day ahead? 🍚 ⭐⭐⭐
Baked a batch for my friends, they all loved it! Chocolate sauce was a hit! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So easy! I didn’t even have to watch the oven just threw them in and forgot. Came out okay.
Hmmm, I thought this was gonna be more like dumplings? Flavor was alright but, it lacked something.
Honestly, they just look like balls of dough, not dumplings at all. How’s chocolate sauce supposed to fix that? 🤔
Yeah, I get what you mean. Dumplings have that chewy vibe, and these are kinda different, but I thought the chocolate sauce was a nice touch! 🥰
Delish! Never cooked with rice flour before but it was fun. Will make again!
I don’t know if I did something wrong, but mine didn’t turn out like the pictures. They were flat and weird. 😕
Love this recipe! The fruit stuffing gives them a refreshing twist. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I tried this for the first time and it came out ok, but I think I preferred the traditional version. ❤️ ⭐⭐⭐
I used peaches instead of mango, is it still good? I hope so! Gonna try this now.
They fell apart when I cooked them, very sad! Maybe I needed more flour? 🤷♂️
Sorry to hear that! Maybe try adding more flour next time or make sure the dough was mixed well? 🤔
This looks hard. Not sure if I can even handle dough. 😟 ⭐
These tang yuan are amazing! I filled mine with strawberries and it was a hit at the party! 🍓
Really? Strawberries in tang yuan? I thought those were only supposed to be savory. Seems weird to me.
That sounds so good! I’ve never tried tang yuan with strawberries before, but I bet it tastes yummy! 😋
Wasn’t a fan. The dough was too sticky and hard to work with. Maybe I did it wrong? ⭐⭐
