Baklava is a dessert that already feels like a celebration, but when you add fruit into the mix, it becomes something truly unforgettable. Fruit-Filled Baklava takes the traditional layers of flaky phyllo pastry and buttery, spiced nuts and introduces a burst of juicy, natural sweetness that elevates the entire experience.
The addition of fruit brings a new dimension to the dessert. While the classic baklava leans rich and syrupy, fruit-filled versions offer a pop of brightness that balances the sugar and spice. Think dried apricots, figs, or even cherries nestled between the nut layers, releasing their flavor as they bake. Or, in some modern versions, fresh fruit purées or citrus zest are added for a tangy twist.
What makes Fruit-Filled Baklava special is the way it blends textures and flavors. The crunch of toasted walnuts or pistachios still takes center stage, but the fruit softens and infuses the dessert with depth. Each bite offers a contrast of crispy, chewy, and syrup-soaked layers, with just the right amount of fruitiness to keep it from being overly rich.
Visually, it’s just as stunning. The golden layers of pastry, glossy from the syrup, are often accented by slivers of fruit or jewel-toned fillings peeking out. It’s elegant enough for special occasions but cozy and comforting enough to enjoy with a cup of tea on a quiet afternoon.
This is a dessert that tells a story. It’s rooted in tradition, yet open to creativity. Whether you’re using classic Mediterranean fruits or putting your own spin on it with seasonal picks, it’s a dessert that feels both timeless and fresh.
Fruit-Filled Baklava is the kind of treat that gets people talking. It looks beautiful, tastes indulgent, and leaves a lasting impression. If you’re looking to update a beloved classic with a splash of color and flavor, this might be the perfect place to start.

This baklava is amazing! The fruits make it so different from the regular ones. 5 stars!
This was my first time trying to make baklava, and it was a total disaster. The phyllo dough was so hard to work with! Frustrating!
Yum! Just made it. So sweet and the crispy layers are perfect! 10/10
OMG, I tried this recipe with just strawberries and it was fantastic!!!
This baklava is delicious! So sweet and fruity. I’ll definitely make it again!
This baklava is absolutely delicious! The mix of fruits is a game changer.
Followed the steps pretty much exactly. Mine was super golden at 45 min and the honey soak made it sticky in the best way. Would make again for sure.
Don’t like fruit in baklava. Should be just honey and nuts!
Is it possible to use frozen fruit? I only have that and idk..
This baklava was amazing! It was a hit at the family gathering.
I don’t get it. Why fruit in baklava? It should be nuts only.
Wow, honey soak = perfection. 😋
It was okay. Not great. The dough got soggy from all the honey. Justice for real baklava!
This recipe, is it even traditional baklava? I’m confused but still delicious!
This baklava was a huge hit at my party! Everyone loved it, especially with the fruit mix. Definitely making it again!
Yum! Just tried it and I can’t stop eating! The mix of nuts and fruits is genius!
I agree! That fruit and nut combo is just amazing! 😍 I never thought of mixing them in baklava before! Good job!
Not sure about that, sounds a bit weird. Baklava should just be with nuts, right? Fruits in baklava? Hmm…
What’s the deal with phyllo dough? It’s super annoying to work with! No more for me.
No way! Phyllo dough is the best part! Just take your time with it, it’s worth it in the end. Baklava is delicious!
I feel you! Phyllo dough can be such a pain. Have you tried using puff pastry instead? It might be easier!
I’m not sure about mixing blueberries/raspberries into baklava—mine got a little watery and the bottom was softer than I expected. Still tasty though, just need to drain fruit next time.
I just don’t get why people love baklava so much. Way too sweet for me. 🙁
“Mixed fruits blueberries, raspberries), strawberries” lol that ingredient line is messy. I’m guessing it’s supposed to be just berries—still delicious though.
So good!!! I added some cinnamon to the nuts and it turned out divine. 😍
This was a lot of work for me, mostly the phyllo handling. But the end result is impressive—like bakery-style.
Totally agree—the phyllo is the main boss fight. I kept my dough covered with a damp towel the whole time and it helped a lot. The finished baklava really does look bakery-level!
Yum! I added some lemon zest and it was delicious! 🌟
Lemon zest? Wow, that’s a creative twist! I never thought of that. Can’t wait to try it! 🍋✨
Do walnuts HAVE to be chopped? I just crushed them with my hands, and it was fine. Really good overall.
Crushing them is probably just fine! I like a little crunch anyway. Glad you enjoyed it!
Yum! I loved the mix of berries! Anyone tried adding mango? That could be cool.
I don’t get why you use honey like that… Can it even work? Mine came out soggy.
Honey definitely adds great flavor! Maybe you used too much or didn’t let it soak in enough? But soggy baklava… yikes!
Pretty good, but my phyllo dried out fast. Next time I’ll keep the sheets covered while assembling. Still tasty though!
It was okay. Kinda soggy for my taste. I prefer it crunchy.
Wasn’t sure about mixing fruits, but it actually worked. Surprised me!
Baklava + fruit = weird combo, but surprisingly tasty! I might try it again.
Is honey really necessary? Seems like overkill with all that sweetness.
Loved the idea of fruit in baklava. Mine came out a little soggy around the middle, but I think I didn’t bake quite long enough. Still super tasty though.
Super easy to make, but I was expecting more flavor. Maybe I needed more fruit?
Too sweet for my taste. I prefer less honey.
So sweet! Is there a way to make it less sweet? I love the fruits, but the honey is a lot. Maybe less honey next time?
Why would you want to make it less sweet? Baklava is supposed to be sweet! SMH.
Yeah, I guess you could use less honey! Maybe try agave syrup or something instead? Just a thought!
Not sure about mixing fruits with nuts—won’t the berries get watery and make the whole thing soggy? Also I’m side-eyeing 1 cup honey being enough to soak everything evenly, but maybe it is if you pour while hot.
Perfect blend of flavors! I might have used too much honey tho. Oops!
Blah! This was way too complicated. You could just buy it at the store for less hassle.
I get that it seems complicated, but homemade baklava is so much better than store-bought! Trust me, the effort is worth it.
I followed the recipe but it was way too sweet for my taste. I think I’ll cut back on the honey next time.
I dunno, baking for 45 mins seems too long. Mine got burnt 😩
I’ve always thought baklava would be too hard to make, but your instructions make it seem easy. I’ll give it a shot for sure!
Honey took forever to thin. Also I added the honey right away and maybe that made it too runny—cooling completely is key.
I had it once in a bakery, but I don’t think honey and fruits go together. Anyone else think it’s weird?
This baklava is a game-changer! The fruit adds such a fresh twist. Loved it!
I’m skeptical about mixing blueberries/raspberries into the nuts—won’t the berries turn watery and ruin the crunch? Mine did get a bit soggy in the middle, so next time I’ll drain or cook the fruit first.
Delicious! Tastes so good, but I think I ate too much.
I know the feeling! It’s hard to stop once you start. This baklava sounds super yummy!
Too much? How could that happen?? It’s just fruit and nuts! You can’t overdo healthy, right?
So good! My family asked for seconds and my kitchen smelled amazing. The cool completely step is important—otherwise it falls apart.
Hmm, I don’t know about mixing fruit in there… I’ve only had the traditional kind. But I might try it for a change.
I get what you’re saying! Traditional baklava is dope, but trying something new can be fun. Maybe it’ll surprise you! 🍓
This turned out way better than I expected! The honey soak is everything—so sticky and good. I used frozen berries and it still worked.
I substituted the fruits with apples, and it still turned out great! Love how versatile this recipe is!
Baklava is just an arabic dish, right? Why mix fruits? I think it ruins it.
Nah, baklava is pure! Why mess with it? Just use nuts and honey, that’s how it’s meant to be!
I think mixing fruits adds a fresh twist! It’s about experimenting with flavors, right?
I was skeptical about mixing fruit inside baklava, but the flavor balance was actually nice. Honey coverage could be a bit more, so I drizzled extra.
I only had pecans, so I used them instead. Still came out good! Not that fancy, but taste is there.
Followed it exactly, but my phyllo kept tearing when I unrolled it. Ended up patching with butter and it turned out okay. Could use clearer tips on handling phyllo.
This turned out insanely good—crispy layers with that sweet honey soak. I used a mix of blueberries and strawberries and the fruit flavor stayed bright. Definitely making again.
Ummm 350 and honey on top, seems easy… but it worked! 😂
Absolutely delicious! I made this for my family, and they devoured it within minutes. Definitely a keeper!
I’m glad your family loved it! This baklava recipe is a total hit. Can’t wait to try it myself!
Sounds great, but isn’t baklava usually more complicated? I’m worried my phyllo will turn out soggy.
I tried making this and it turned out so soggy. What did I do wrong?
Easy recipe, just gotta be patient with layers.
I was skeptical about using fruit, but it turned out really good! Will make again.
I don’t know… I followed the recipe exactly, but it turned out too soggy. What did I do wrong?
Maybe you used too much butter or honey? That can make it soggy. Try reducing them next time!
I think phyllo dough is tricky! Maybe you didn’t bake it long enough? It should be crunchy, not soggy.
5 stars all the way! I shared this with my friends, and they couldn’t stop raving about it. Will make again!
Yummy!! 😍 But I forgot to coat the layers properly, and it turned out dry. Need to pay more attention next time.
Love this! Phyllo dough is such a hassle, but worth it for this treat! 🙂
Easy to make! My kids loved helping with the layers. Great family activity. 🙂
That sounds like so much fun! I can’t wait to try this with my kids too. Thanks for sharing! 😊
The flavors are really nice, but my phyllo got a little dry before it was fully baked. Next time I’ll use a bit more butter between layers.
Gonna make this for Thanksgiving! Hope it turns out pretty 🙂
This sounds amazing! I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with delicious treats! 😊
Took it to my family gathering and it was a hit! Everyone was asking for the recipe.
I followed it exactly and it still tasted bland to me. Maybe my honey wasn’t flavorful? Also chopped nuts got a bit clumpy.
Baklava is supposed to be hard, this one is like mush. My grandma’s is way better.
Super easy recipe and delicious! My kids loved it! Will make again. 🍓🍏
I burned the top a tiny bit because my oven runs hot. Otherwise, the method is super easy and the layers stayed intact.
Hmm, I’m not sure about using *mixed fruits* in baklava like that. Baklava is usually nuts + honey syrup, not berries… but I guess your layers staying intact means it worked. Did you chop the berries small or keep them whole? Mine would get juicy and soggy.
Nice save! “Burned a tiny bit” is still a win—if your oven runs hot, I’d try lowering to 335–340°F or covering loosely with foil for the last 10 minutes. The honey soak can hide a lot too 😄
I think your supposed to use pistachios instead of walnuts. But I want 2 plate of dis!
Yum! Made it twice already, and my kids love it!!
This sounds like a sweet twist on classic baklava—fruit + honey is a combo I’m totally here for. The butter-phyllo layering part makes sense, and 45 minutes at 350°F seems about right for golden color.
Oh wow, I love this idea—baklava but with actual fruit in the filling sounds amazing. Honey soaking it at the end is perfect too. Going to try it!
Love it, but can we talk about the ingredient list being a mess? It says blueberries, raspberries), strawberries—like there’s a paren typo lol. Still gonna try tho 😅
Haha yeah that ingredient line is definitely a typo mess 😅 But honestly the idea sounds so good—fruit + nuts + honey is my kind of chaos.
Nooooo the parentheses are gonna haunt me 😂 I’d fix it to: blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Also make sure the fruit isn’t too wet or it’ll go soggy.
So easy to make! My kids loved it. Definitely a keeper! 🍓🥮
Sorry but this didn’t work for me. I ended up with a sticky dessert that tasted kinda like wet pastry. Maybe my phyllo was too dry or my honey was too thick.
Wet pastry… yep, I’ve had that when the layers weren’t buttered evenly. Next time, don’t skimp on brushing and make sure the honey is heated well before pouring. Cool completely too—if you cut it hot it can get gummy.
Oh no, I’m sorry it turned out sticky and pasty 😕 That usually happens if the honey stays too thick or the phyllo doesn’t crisp up enough. Did you heat the honey until it’s truly runny (like just pourable)? Also, 45 min might be short depending on your oven—golden brown is key.
Are you sure this is baklava? I’ve only ever seen it made with nuts and syrup, not fruits. Seems off.
Too complicated. I thought baklava was supposed to be simple…
Ugh, the phyllo dough is so hard to work with! Never again.
Wow, the fruit + honey combo sounds insanely good. I like baklava but this seems lighter than the usual nut-only version—definitely trying it.
Right?! The fruit + honey is such a good twist—totally agree it feels lighter than the heavy nut-only kind. Let us know how it turns out!
Easy peasy! Made this with my kids. We had a blast in the kitchen and it turned out delish! 😋
Easy peasy? Baklava seems complicated with all those layers! Are you sure it was that simple? 🤔
That sounds awesome! Cooking with kids is the best way to bond. I’m glad it turned out delicious! 🍰
Yum!!! Simply yum!!!
This recipe is wrong, baklava doesn’t have fruit! That’s not how it’s made!
45 minutes at 350°F seems low? Mine barely browned until I went like 15-20 more minutes. Also, the honey step made it super sticky—like, could’ve been a little less honey.
I messed up and used frozen fruit straight from the bag. Not the move. It leaked a lot and the bottom got soft, but the top was still nice. Next time I’ll thaw and pat dry.
Oh no—yeah frozen fruit straight from the bag can totally turn the filling into a soggy mess 😅. Thawing + patting dry is a solid fix. Next time you might also add the fruit mixture and nuts quickly so it doesn’t weep moisture before baking.
I tried this recipe but used apples instead of mixed fruits. It didn’t turn out so great. 😕
I think traditional baklava is just nuts and honey? Why fruit?
I give it 3 stars cuz 45 mins maybe not enough?? My oven runs hot/cold idk. Honey step seems key.
The ingredient list says “1 cup mixed fruits” but then it’s kinda unclear if fresh or frozen. I used frozen and it got a little soggy—flavor was there, just not the texture.
It tastes good, but I think the honey amount is too much? I poured all of it and it was almost candy-syrup level. If you like less sweet, use half and add more later.
I think the oven temp should be higher—350°F felt low. Mine didn’t get that crisp, flaky crunch. The flavor was nice though, just not the right baklava vibe.
This baklava recipe is a game-changer! The fruits make it so fresh.
Mine didn’t get very golden after 45 minutes. I probably should’ve used a deeper dish or baked longer. The texture was still great.
Wow. Best baklava ever. 🔥
This is the BEST baklava i ever had 😭 Like for real, crispy layers with fruity bursts. I used walnuts and it came out amazing.
Wow, this baklava looks amazing! I love the combination of fruits. Can’t wait to try it.
Um… 1 cup fruit + 1 cup nuts with phyllo sounds like it might overflow? Also my fruits released water and the layers got gummy. Maybe drain berries next time.
I followed it exactly and mine came out kinda soggy in the middle. I think 45 minutes might be short depending on your dish size?
I’ve had that happen too—45 min is probably for a smaller dish. Mine was soggy once; extending bake time by like 10–15 min (until it’s darker) fixed it.
