Chopped Wedge Salad

April 7, 2026

Chopped Wedge Salad is a fresh and flavorful twist on the classic wedge salad, offering all the familiar ingredients in a more convenient, bite-sized form. Instead of serving a large wedge of iceberg lettuce, this version features chopped lettuce tossed with toppings and dressing, making it easier to eat and perfect for sharing or serving at gatherings.

At the heart of the dish is crisp iceberg lettuce, known for its refreshing crunch and mild flavor. When chopped, it provides the perfect base for holding onto creamy dressings and flavorful toppings. This simple ingredient becomes the foundation for a salad that is both light and satisfying.

A defining feature of Chopped Wedge Salad is its combination of bold, contrasting ingredients. Crispy bacon adds a savory, smoky element, while juicy tomatoes bring freshness and a slight sweetness. Crumbled blue cheese or shredded cheddar introduces richness and depth, complementing the crisp lettuce beautifully.

The dressing is typically a creamy one, such as blue cheese or ranch, which coats the ingredients and ties everything together. The creaminess balances the crisp texture of the lettuce and enhances the flavors of the toppings, creating a well-rounded and indulgent salad experience.

This salad is highly customizable, allowing you to adjust ingredients to suit your taste. You can add grilled chicken, avocado, or hard-boiled eggs to make it more filling, or include additional vegetables like cucumbers or red onions for extra crunch and color. The chopped format makes it easy to mix and match ingredients in every bite.

Chopped Wedge Salad is perfect as a side dish for grilled meats, barbecues, or casual dinners. It can also be served as a main course when topped with protein, making it a versatile option for different occasions.

Overall, Chopped Wedge Salad combines freshness, crunch, and bold flavors in a simple yet satisfying way. Its easy-to-eat format and customizable ingredients make it a modern, practical take on a classic favorite that continues to please a wide range of tastes.

Just used regular cheese instead of blue. Still good!

Great idea! Regular cheese is delicious too. I didn’t think it would work, but now I’m curious to try it that way.

Why is it called a ‘wedge salad’ if it’s all chopped? It’s confusing. 🤔

  4. User avatar rheba.bauch says:

    3 stars
Meh. I thought it could use more bacon but I forgot to buy more!

  5. User avatar alligator says:

I tried making this but I forgot the dressing. It was kinda plain 😞

I don’t like blue cheese, any alternatives?

This is too healthy for me. Where’s the ranch??

  8. User avatar destiny.damore12 says:

Amazing! The blue cheese really makes it pop. Will definitely make again!

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree! The blue cheese is the best part. I added some walnuts too, yum!

    2. User avatar sarita.considine14 says:

      3 stars
Really? I found it too salty with the blue cheese. Maybe try feta next time instead?

  9. User avatar Tasha Luettgen says:

This salad is so simple and delicious, I love the crispy bacon!

I made this for a BBQ, but it got left behind 🙄 Of course nobody ate it! 😂

  11. 4 stars
Yummy! My kids ate it without fussing. Gonna try it with different dressings next time!

  12. User avatar narcisa.hermiston says:

Blue cheese is not my thing. It overpowered everything and made it taste super strong, but I can see how fans would love it.

    1. User avatar willene.adams96 says:

      5 stars
Totally get it—blue cheese can be like a bully 😅 I love it, but I usually start with way less (like 2–3 tbsp) and build up. This wedge salad looks legit though!

    2. User avatar rudolf.tromp41 says:

      3 stars
Idk man… 1/2 cup blue cheese is a lot. I once put too much and it tasted like “cheese feet” 😬 Also iceberg is kinda watery—shoulda used romaine. Still, bacon + tomatoes sounds good.

  13. User avatar vincent.harvey says:

    3 stars
I didn’t have cherry tomatoes so I used regular chopped tomatoes and it tasted kinda off… still decent though. Wouldn’t say it’s mind-blowing.

  14. User avatar melody.steuber6 says:

    2 stars
I mean, it’s just lettuce and tomatoes, right? Seems kinda boring to me.

  15. User avatar kena.emard55 says:

    3 stars
This is a nice side dish, but it’s not filling enough for a meal. Needs more protein.

    1. User avatar carmel.ohara42 says:

      4 stars
I disagree! This salad is a great side, but you could add grilled chicken for extra protein if you want. 😊

  16. User avatar Mordekaiser says:

    5 stars
I added avocado and it was 🌟 AMAZING 🌟! Best salad I’ve ever made!

  17. User avatar Restless Draugr says:

    3 stars
Can you use any lettuces? Heard romaine is better, less water.

    1. User avatar randall.kshlerin81 says:

      3 stars
I dunno about that. Iceberg’s low in nutrients compared to romaine; it’s mostly water, right? But tastes good.

    2. User avatar tory.dare63 says:

      4 stars
I think romaine is great for salads, but iceberg is super crunchy and refreshing too! Use what you like!

  18. User avatar Draugr Deathlord says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but I feel like iceberg gets watery fast. Next time I’ll keep the lettuce dry and maybe add the dressing right before serving.

  19. User avatar Eccentrica Gallumbits says:

    4 stars
Not a fan of blue cheese, but I replaced it with feta and it was still good!

    1. User avatar fermin.fritsch22 says:

      5 stars
Feta is a great substitute! I never thought of that. Glad it worked out for you!

    2. User avatar lucio.boyer73 says:

      2 stars
But feta is totally different than blue cheese! How could you say it was still good??

  20. User avatar caitlyn.marks says:

    5 stars
This salad is super easy to make! I loved how fresh it tasted. Will definitely make again!

  21. User avatar Thanatos says:

Is salad really a meal? Just seems like rabbit food to me.

  22. User avatar Mandy Lifeboats says:

Why do people put blue cheese in everything? It’s gross! Stick to ranch, y’all.

  23. User avatar percy.altenwerth17 says:

Wedge salad without actually doing the wedge thing? Kinda cheating 😅

  24. User avatar randal.kihn1982 says:

Chopped iceberg is the best! So crunchy and fresh. Love it!

    1. User avatar Willie Schuppe says:

      2 stars
I dunno, iceberg is kinda just water, right? I prefer romaine.

    2. User avatar buford.rohan says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! There’s nothing like that crunch. It’s my go-to salad!

  25. User avatar sandy.mraz1980 says:

Easy and fast! Perfect for busy weeknights.

  26. User avatar Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta says:

Didnt have bacon, used chicken instead. Still yummy but bacon is best.

    1. User avatar Penny Profit says:

      2 stars
But like, chicken in a salad? That’s kinda weird. Bacon is what makes it good! 🤨

    2. User avatar luci.cartwright0 says:

      4 stars
Chicken sounds good too! I always thought bacon was overrated anyway. 😄

  27. User avatar rueben.schaefer1972 says:

Such a great idea for a summer side! I’ll be making this again!

  28. User avatar steve_maga says:

    3 stars
It was ok, but my lettuce turned brown too quick. Maybe I did somethin wrong?

    1. 4 stars
Don’t worry! It happens if the lettuce was cut too far in advance. Try to chop it right before serving next time.

    2. 3 stars
Lettuce browning is normal sometimes, but maybe ya need to store it better. I’ve had that issue too.

  29. 2 stars
Yuck! Too much blue cheese for me. I couldn’t finish it.

  30. User avatar vernie.muller says:

    5 stars
This is exactly my kind of salad—crunchy, salty, and loaded. The bacon + blue cheese combo is elite. I used ranch and it was perfection.

  31. 5 stars
This salad is amazing! Simple yet so tasty. I love the bacon in it.
