Caprese skewers are a fresh, colorful appetizer that captures the essence of simple Mediterranean flavors. Inspired by the classic Italian salad, this bite-sized version combines juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil into an easy-to-serve dish that is perfect for gatherings, picnics, or light snacks.
To prepare, start with cherry or grape tomatoes for their natural sweetness and firm texture. Pair them with small mozzarella balls, often labeled as bocconcini or ciliegine, which offer a soft and milky contrast to the tomatoes. Fresh basil leaves add a burst of herbal freshness that ties everything together.
Assembling the skewers is quick and straightforward. On small skewers or toothpicks, thread one tomato, a folded basil leaf, and a mozzarella ball. You can repeat the pattern or keep it simple with one of each per skewer. Arrange them neatly on a serving platter, showcasing their vibrant red, white, and green colors.
For extra flavor, drizzle the skewers lightly with high-quality olive oil and a touch of balsamic glaze. The glaze adds a subtle sweetness and depth that enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients. A sprinkle of salt and freshly cracked black pepper is all you need to finish the dish.
Caprese skewers are not only visually appealing but also incredibly versatile. You can elevate them by adding slices of prosciutto for a savory twist or a pinch of chili flakes for gentle heat. They require no cooking, making them an ideal last-minute option when you want something impressive without spending much time in the kitchen.
Serve them chilled or at room temperature, and enjoy a refreshing appetizer that feels both light and satisfying. Caprese salads are a timeless favorite that never goes out of style, offering a perfect balance of flavors in every bite.

These are so yummy! Perfect for summer gatherings. I added some olives too.
Olives in Caprese? That’s kind of weird but hey, to each their own! 🤷♀️
Omg yes! I love Caprese skewers! Olives sound like a fun twist! Yum!
Delicious! Made these for my picnic, and they were a hit! Will make again!
Not sure why you would mix tomatoes, cheese and basil… Seems odd. Not my thing.
Too simple. Needed more ingredients like avocado or something!
Pretty easy to make but felt like something was missing. Maybe some salt?
yummm
These are the best! So easy to make and perfect for parties.
I mean, they look good, but aren’t tomatoes kinda boring?
I LOVE basil! Adds so much flavor to the skewers. Yum!
Basil is the best! It totally makes these skewers pop! 😍
Made these for a potluck, and they were gone in seconds!
Yum! 🍅🧀 Basil is like my fave herb, and it makes everything better! Will definitely make again!
Skewers? Isn’t that like a stick? Lol
These were awesome! Super easy to make and a hit at my party.
Delicious! I used pesto instead of balsamic glaze and it was great.
That sounds interesting! Pesto is a great substitute. I never thought of that!
But like, isn’t balsamic glaze kinda key? Pesto’s nice but idk…
Too salty for my taste. Maybe less cheese would help?
Not impressed. They looked pretty but tasted basic.
I don’t get the hype, it’s just tomatoes and cheese???
Can you use any cheese? What if I put cheddar instead? 🤔
I wouldn’t recommend cheddar, it just doesn’t have the same fresh taste as mozzarella! Stick to the recipe for best results!
Love this! Quick snack that looks fancy! Who would’ve thought mozzarella could be so good with tomatoes? #Winning
I didn’t have fresh basil, so I used dried. Big mistake! They didn’t taste right at all. 🙁
Yeah, dried basil just ain’t the same! Fresh really makes a difference in flavor. Better luck next time! 🙂
I tried these at a party and was like, wow, they must be super hard to make. But they’re not! Just get some sticks and fruit.
I’m not really into these kind of appetizers. Guess I just like more spicy food.
These were so easy to make and tasted amazing! Perfect for summer parties!
