Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze

August 1, 2024

Caprese Salad is a simple yet elegant dish that highlights the beauty of fresh, quality ingredients. With just a few components – ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and balsamic glaze, this salad captures the essence of Italian cuisine. It’s light, refreshing, and bursting with flavor, making it the perfect appetizer or side dish for any meal.

The key to a great Caprese Salad is using the freshest ingredients. The tomatoes should be juicy and sweet, the mozzarella creamy and mild, and the basil fragrant and vibrant. When these ingredients are combined, they create a harmonious balance of flavors. The richness of the mozzarella complements the sweetness of the tomatoes, while the basil adds a fresh, herbal note.

What elevates this classic salad is the addition of balsamic glaze. The balsamic glaze, with its rich and tangy sweetness, adds depth to the salad and ties all the flavors together. The drizzle of glaze over the top gives a beautiful, glossy finish and enhances the dishโ€™s visual appeal, making it as pleasing to the eyes as it is to the taste buds.

Caprese Salad is incredibly versatile. It can be served as a light starter before a meal or paired with grilled meats, pasta, or even as a topping for crostini. Itโ€™s perfect for summer gatherings or any time you want something fresh and flavorful without much effort.

Not only is Caprese Salad delicious, but itโ€™s also healthy. Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats, itโ€™s a dish that nourishes your body while delighting your senses. The simplicity of the ingredients allows each element to shine, making it a true celebration of fresh, high-quality produce.

Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze is a dish that never goes out of style. Whether you’re making it for a weeknight dinner or serving it at a special occasion, it’s sure to impress with its clean flavors and vibrant colors.

I think it’s supposed to be fresh and light! Maybe add some avocado or a pinch of garlic for more flavor? ๐Ÿ˜‹

    2. User avatar kathline.oreilly48 says:

      2 stars
It’s a Caprese salad, not a stew! Simplicity is key here. Just enjoy the fresh ingredients, man.

  3. 2 stars
A bit overpriced if ya ask me. I mean, tomatoes and cheese? How much can they cost?

    1. 4 stars
I get what you’re saying, but fresh ingredients like that can be pricey. It’s all about quality! ๐Ÿฅ—

    2. User avatar terrance.blick1951 says:

      5 stars
Overpriced? Nah, it’s a classic dish. Good tomatoes and mozzarella cost more because they are good. Trust me!

  4. User avatar nguyet.fadel74 says:

Do I really need fresh basil? I just used dried & it worked out fine.

  5. User avatar Storm Atronach says:

    2 stars
I donโ€™t see the point of balsamic glaze. Just use plain vinegar and it’ll be fine.

So easy! I added avocado and it was delicious. Fresh and healthy! ๐Ÿฅ‘

Caprese perfection. The basil between the tomatoes + mozzarella is the move. Will make again, no question.

  11. 5 stars
Absolutely delicious! This is my go-to summer salad. The balsamic glaze truly elevates it! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ…

    1. User avatar kirsten.herzog59 says:

I totally agree! The balsamic glaze is what makes it pop! Can’t wait to make this again.

Looks good, but honestly, isn’t it just tomatoes and cheese? How special can it be? ๐Ÿ˜’

  12. User avatar randal.smitham64 says:

    5 stars
This salad is soooo good! The flavors really pop! I’ll definitely make it again.

  13. 2 stars
I donโ€™t see the point of adding extra oil and salt when the balsamic is already so strong. Felt like too much.

    1. 4 stars
I totally get what you’re saying. The balsamic can be strong enough on its own! Sometimes less is more, right? ๐ŸŒฑ

  14. User avatar pamila.brekke1966 says:

Yummy! I added a pinch of sugar to the balsamic and it was even better!

  18. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    3 stars
Is there a substitute for balsamic glaze? Can’t find it anywhere.

  19. User avatar james.considine says:

    4 stars
You call that balsamic glaze? I used straight vinegar, still worked! LOL

    1. User avatar Dr. Orval Lockman says:

      4 stars
Haha, good to know! Vinegar can be strong though, right? But I guess it works in a pinch.

  20. User avatar elias.spinka58 says:

    3 stars
Iโ€™m skeptical that this is โ€œa recipeโ€ and not just sliced ingredients ๐Ÿ˜… But it works. My only complaint: I needed way more salt.

    1. User avatar reid.mante1958 says:

      4 stars
Caprese should be mostly tomato + mozz + basil, yesโ€”but more salt makes sense. I usually salt the tomato slices lightly 10 minutes ahead so they wake up. Also pepper at the end.

    2. 5 stars
Lol I get the โ€œjust sliced stuffโ€ vibe ๐Ÿ˜… but thatโ€™s kinda the point with capreseโ€”fresh ingredients do the heavy lifting. I do add salt too though; โ€œto tasteโ€ always means different things depending on your tomatoes/mozz.

  21. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    2 stars
Looks good but I don’t think balsamic glaze fits in. Just use vinegar!

  22. 4 stars
I tried this with dried basil once, and it just didn’t taste right at all. Fresh herbs make a HUGE difference!

    1. User avatar ezra.macejkovic1989 says:

      3 stars
I dunno. I used dried once and it was okay. Maybe you just had a bad batch?

    2. User avatar michel.dare33 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! Fresh basil makes all the difference. Dried just doesn’t cut it for me either.

  23. User avatar mechelle.jacobson says:

    5 stars
I made this for a barbecue, and everyone loved it! The balsamic glaze makes it taste super gourmet for something so easy.

  24. User avatar basementDweller says:

    3 stars
Looks nice, but do you really need 8 oz of cheese? Seems like too much!

  25. User avatar delana.hackett34 says:

    3 stars
My grandma makes this but with different things. This recipe is okay, I guess.

  26. User avatar blaine.cormier says:

    5 stars
This was super easy and tasted amazing! Fresh ingredients make all the difference. Definitely a 5 outta 5!

    1. User avatar ezekiel.treutel1994 says:

      2 stars
I dunno, I thought it was kinda bland. Maybe I just did it wrong, but I expected more flavor. 2/5.

    2. User avatar nicky.sawayn says:

      5 stars
I tried this recipe too! Fresh basil really elevates the dish. Can’t get enough of it! 5 stars for sure!

  27. User avatar keven.larkin1988 says:

    3 stars
Okay but why does everyone act like fresh mozzarella is a requirement? I used the pre-shredded kind and it was still good, just not as elegant.

  28. User avatar andree.moore41 says:

    4 stars
Honestly, 2 tbsp balsamic glaze felt like too much for me. I did a lighter drizzle and it was way better.

  29. 2 stars
Tomatoes are overrated, this salad could use some more flavor. Maybe add avocados or something?

  30. User avatar denny.schoen says:

    5 stars
This was so refreshing! Love the combo of flavors. Perfect for a summer day.

  31. User avatar marylynn.mcclure90 says:

    1 star
Caprese salad is so overrated. It’s just salad and cheese, not a big deal.

    1. User avatar jennette.ledner says:

      4 stars
I mean, it’s pretty simple but that’s what makes it good! Fresh ingredients really do make a difference. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ…

    2. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

      5 stars
I agree! That balsamic glaze is the best part. Can’t wait to try this recipe!

  35. 4 stars
I was skeptical at first, but this was super easy and refreshing. Can’t believe I used to buy pre-made!

  36. 3 stars
Iโ€™m not sure about the basil. I used parsley instead and it turned out alright. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    1. User avatar blanche.hammes27 says:

      4 stars
I get why you used parsley, but basil really adds that unique flavor! Maybe try it next time? ๐Ÿ˜…

  37. 3 stars
Seriously, who needs a recipe for a salad? Just chop some stuff and call it a day. But this looks pretty.

    1. User avatar randy.labadie says:

      3 stars
I mean, it’s just salad. Anyone can chop! But fancy is nice too, I guess.

    2. User avatar aleisha.kerluke35 says:

      4 stars
True! But sometimes a little guidance makes it fancier. This one looks delish!

  38. User avatar clotilde.fritsch33 says:

    3 stars
Skeptical about the balsamic glaze, I used plain vinegar instead. Not the same, but it was okay. Iโ€™d say 3 stars.

  39. User avatar lilia.schaefer1970 says:

    5 stars
This turned out so fresh and simpleโ€”exactly what I want for summer. The balsamic glaze makes it feel fancy without trying too hard.

  40. User avatar sybil.runte says:

    4 stars
Love caprese, but I feel like my tomatoes were too watery. I probably shouldโ€™ve patted them dry. Still tasty though!

  41. User avatar theo.dare70 says:

    5 stars
OMG! This looks delicious! I added olives and it was bomb.

  42. User avatar anisha.altenwerth35 says:

    3 stars
Yummy but not filling enough. Needed more cheese ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  43. 4 stars
Yum! Quick and healthy, I might add some garlic next time. Garlic is good on everything!

  44. 5 stars
This salad is amazing! So fresh and delicious, especially on a hot day. I added a pinch of garlic powder like my grandma used to do. ๐Ÿ˜‹

  45. User avatar Alvina Willms says:

    4 stars
    Tomatoe cheese salad! Yum ๐Ÿ˜‹.

  46. User avatar steve_maga says:

    2 stars
I dunno, it seems kinda plain. Just tomatoes and mozzarella? I expected more flavors. Maybe some olives would help?

  47. User avatar rema.mcglynn95 says:

    4 stars
Good salad but I think it needs more mozzarella! Like, double the cheese! ๐Ÿ˜

  48. User avatar jenifer.rowe1 says:

    2 stars
Too much balsamic made it taste weird. Next time Iโ€™ll try less.

    1. User avatar stacy.halvorson says:

      4 stars
I agree, the balsamic can be quite a strong flavor! Maybe adding it little by little next time would help. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    2. User avatar Cammar Pilru says:

      3 stars
Really? I thought the balsamic made it taste amazing! But I guess taste is subjective. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  49. User avatar karl.mills1996 says:

    4 stars
How many calories in this? Iโ€™m trying to watch my diet. Ugh.. pretty salad tho.

  50. User avatar willia.lemke says:

    3 stars
The alternating slices look pretty, but I didnโ€™t have balsamic reduction so I used regular balsamic and it was a bit too tangy. Next time Iโ€™ll get the glaze.

  51. User avatar Flame Atronach says:

    5 stars
This is the simplest and freshest salad ever! I love it.

      4 stars
Maybe your mom’s version is just special to you! This one seems easy and fresh tho.

  56. User avatar lizette.reinger says:

    2 stars
I dunno. Seems too easy. How can it be that good? Tomato, cheese, and some leaves? Gimme something harder to believe itโ€™s good.

  57. User avatar alton.mante says:

    2 stars
I followed it mostlyโ€ฆ except I forgot the basil in the fridge and had to improvise with dried oregano. Kinda ruined the vibe, not gonna lie.

  58. 4 stars
Quick and easy! Made this for a picnic and everyone loved it. Definitely will make again and add some avocado! ๐Ÿฅ‘

  62. User avatar Ms. Cathi Marks says:

    3 stars
Only 2 ingredients? No way! Must be something missing in your recipe!

  63. 3 stars
Yummy! But I used blue cheese instead of mozzarella ’cause I didn’t have any. Still good.

  64. User avatar Mr. Hershel Bogan says:

    4 stars
Yum! But I accidentally used way too much salt. My bad! ๐Ÿ˜…

    1. User avatar santos.hayes60 says:

      5 stars
Too much salt? That’s a classic mistake. Just don’t sprinkle it like confetti next time! ๐Ÿ˜‚

    2. User avatar Leto II Atreides says:

      4 stars
No worries! Salt can be tricky. Just balance it out with some extra tomatoes next time! ๐Ÿ…

  65. 2 stars
It’s just tomatoes and cheese… not really a recipe. I can do this by myself.

  66. User avatar gita.kuvalis says:
