Blue Cheese Gnocchi

January 22, 2025

Blue cheese gnocchi is a rich, flavorful dish that’s perfect for those who love bold, creamy comfort food. With its pillowy-soft gnocchi coated in a luscious blue cheese sauce, this meal is indulgent yet easy to prepare – ideal for a cozy night in or when you want to serve something a little more sophisticated.

The gnocchi, whether homemade or store-bought, is the heart of the dish. Its light, tender texture makes it the perfect vehicle for soaking up the sauce. When paired with blue cheese, the result is an elevated pasta experience that delivers both creaminess and a punch of sharp, tangy flavor.

The sauce begins with a base of butter and cream, gently heated to form a silky foundation. Crumbled blue cheese is then added and slowly melted, infusing the sauce with its signature bite. Depending on your preference, you can go for a milder blue like Gorgonzola or something stronger like Roquefort. A touch of black pepper or a sprinkle of nutmeg can add a bit of warmth and depth.

Once the gnocchi is cooked and tossed in the sauce, every piece is enveloped in creamy, cheesy goodness. To finish, a handful of fresh herbs like parsley or chives adds a pop of color and a burst of freshness that balances the richness. For extra texture, you can top the dish with toasted walnuts or crispy pancetta – both pair beautifully with the boldness of the blue cheese.

Blue cheese gnocchi is a dish that feels both comforting and luxurious. It’s perfect on its own as a main course or served in smaller portions as a starter. Pair it with a simple green salad and a glass of white wine for a well-rounded meal that’s impressive without being fussy.

Bold in flavor and silky in texture, this gnocchi dish is a delicious way to bring something different to the table. It’s hearty, full of character, and guaranteed to satisfy cheese lovers looking for a creamy twist on a classic comfort food.

Okay, but is that much cheese really necessary? I find it too strong. Maybe tone it down a bit next time. I give it 3 stars.

I agree, that’s way too much cheese for me too! It really overpowers the dish. Less cheese = more flavor balance.
