Bacon fried rice is the ultimate comfort food mashup – smoky, crispy bacon meets fluffy, flavorful rice in a dish that’s quick, easy, and absolutely packed with taste. Whether you’re using leftover rice or making a fresh batch just for this, bacon fried rice turns simple ingredients into something crave-worthy and satisfying.
The magic begins with bacon. As it cooks, it releases flavorful fat that becomes the base for the rest of the dish. Once the bacon is crispy, you can set it aside and use the rendered fat to stir-fry aromatics like garlic, onion, and scallions. This builds layers of savory flavor that give the rice its depth.
Cold, day-old rice works best here because it holds up to stir-frying without turning mushy. As it hits the hot pan, the rice soaks up all those smoky bacon flavors and gets a little bit crispy around the edges. Soy sauce, a splash of sesame oil, and a pinch of pepper bring in that classic fried rice taste, while a drizzle of chili oil or a dash of hot sauce can add a spicy kick if you like heat.
Scrambled eggs add a touch of richness and softness, balancing the salty bacon and adding protein. You can also toss in veggies like peas, corn, or diced bell peppers for color and extra texture. The final touch is stirring the bacon back in at the end, so every bite includes a bit of that smoky crunch.
Bacon fried rice is endlessly customizable. You can keep it simple or add extras like kimchi, pineapple, or even shrimp to make it your own. It’s perfect as a main dish or a hearty side, and it comes together in about 20 minutes – faster than ordering takeout.
Whether you’re cleaning out the fridge or just craving something comforting and savory, bacon fried rice is a guaranteed hit. It’s the kind of dish that’s satisfying any time of day, from a quick lunch to a midnight snack. One skillet, a few pantry staples, and some crispy bacon are all you need to make magic happen.

Not so sure about mixing bacon with rice, but gave it a shot. It was okay, I’ll say.
This was AWESOME! Love the smoky flavor from the bacon. Will definitely make again!
Too greasy for me. I think there’s a better recipe without bacon. Just saying.
I actually love the bacon in it! It adds flavor! You could always leave it out if you don’t like it though.
This is amazing! The bacon really adds so much flavor. Will definitely make again!
Totally agree! Bacon makes everything better. Can’t wait to try this recipe myself!
I don’t get the hype about bacon in fried rice. Seems kinda weird to me.
Bacon? Rice? Eggs? What is this, a fancy restaurant? 😂
My rice was soggy! How do you get day-old rice? I might have messed it up.
Bacon in rice? Sounds weird. But this actually turned out pretty good. Like a whole meal in one pan!
Hey, can I use fresh rice? I don’t have day-old. Will it ruin it?
Bacon rice? Sounds weird. Only like rice with soy sauce.
My kids loved it! Finally a meal they finished! Thanks for the recipe!
This is like food heaven! Highly recommend! 🤤
I burnt the garlic… whoops! Still tasted okay tho. Bacon saved it.
Burnt garlic gives it a nice smoky flavor! Glad it turned out well. 🍚
How do you even burn garlic? It’s like, only a minute or two in the pan! But I guess bacon makes everything better. 😂
Why would you use bacon??? That’s not real fried rice. What about the traditional way??
Best recipe ever!! 😍 Can’t believe how quick it was! Made it twice this week already. 👍
Too greasy for my taste. I think I’ll stick to plain rice.
I totally get you! Bacon can make things a bit heavy. Plain rice is a good choice if you want something light.
I’m skeptical about this recipe. Isn’t fried rice supposed to have more flavors? 🥱
This bacon fried rice is phenomenal! I made it twice this week. 😋
Eh, I don’t know. Seems too greasy with that much bacon. Healthy can be tasty too! 🌱
I totally agree! It’s such a quick and delicious meal! I’ve been making it for my kids, and they love it too. 🤤
This bacon fried rice is everything! So delicious and easy to make. My family loved it!
I tried this recipe last night, and it was amazing! My kids went back for thirds!
I dunno. It seems like way too much bacon. Are you sure that’s healthy? But, I guess it tastes good…
YUM! I added some extra veggies and it turned out great. Will make again!
Made this last night after a long day at work. Super easy and delish! 😍
I dunno, seems simple but kinda bland. Need more spices or something.
Not bad but I think it needed more soy sauce. It was kinda bland.
I don’t know, sounds fine to me. Shouldn’t be too salty! Just add more soy sauce next time.
I think it’s perfect as is! Maybe you just like stronger flavors? 😄
Made this for breakfast. Best choice ever! Bacon all the way! 😍
Yum! Love bacon for breakfast! Can’t wait to try this!
I don’t know… bacon in fried rice? Seems weird. But if you like it, good for you.
Bacon makes everything better! This recipe is a winner for sure. 🥓🍚
Yum! Best fried rice ever!
Best fried rice? Really? I thought it was kinda dry… Maybe I’ll try again, but add more soy sauce.
I agree! This fried rice is so good! Just had it for dinner, and my whole family loved it!
Really easy to follow recipe. Just threw everything in and it worked!
I don’t know if I made it right, but mine turned out mushy. I think I added too much soy sauce.
Mushy? I thought it was supposed to be fluffy! If you used fresh rice instead of day-old, that could be why. Looks good tho!
Don’t worry! Mushy rice happens sometimes. Maybe try using less soy sauce next time and make sure the rice is really cold. You got this!
Didn’t like the mixed veggies part. I think I’ll use just peas next time.
Is it possible to use leftover chicken instead of bacon? Just curious.
This was super delicious! My whole family loved it. Bacon makes everything better!
OMG, so easy and delicious! My kids loved it! Will definitely make again!
So glad to hear your kids loved it! It’s a family favorite in our house too. Quick and tasty!
Took a long time for me! But tasted ok. I’m not a great cook tho.
Not impressed. Rice was kinda bland, needs more flavor for me.
Bacon fried rice? Sounds like a heart attack on a plate! 💔 But I gotta try it.
