Taco Dip

February 1, 2024

Taco dip is one of those irresistible appetizers that disappears in seconds, no matter the occasion. Whether you’re hosting a party, bringing a dish to a potluck, or just craving something savory and satisfying, this dip is always a hit. With layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese, sour cream, and fresh veggies, it’s the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

The base of the taco dip starts with a seasoned ground beef layer. The beef is cooked with taco seasoning and a bit of salsa, adding a rich and flavorful foundation. You can adjust the heat to your preference by choosing a mild or spicy salsa, or even adding a pinch of chili powder for extra kick.

Once the beef is ready, it’s time to build the layers. Start with a layer of creamy sour cream, followed by a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese. For extra richness, you can add cream cheese to the mix as well. These layers help to balance the spices from the beef, creating a perfect contrast in texture and flavor.

On top of the cheese, add a layer of fresh toppings like diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, and sliced black olives. The crunch of the veggies provides a nice freshness against the richness of the cheese and beef. For extra flair, top it off with chopped cilantro, jalapeños, or a squeeze of lime for added zing.

Taco dip is best served with crispy tortilla chips for scooping, but it’s also great with nachos, sliced veggies, or even crackers. The beauty of this dip is how customizable it is. You can swap the ground beef for chicken or beans for a vegetarian version, or load it up with your favorite toppings like guacamole or salsa.

Perfect for casual gatherings, Taco Dip is easy to make, visually appealing, and most importantly, delicious. Once you make it, you’ll be the go-to for all your social gatherings!

This dip is sooo good! I made it for a party and everyone loved it. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I would like to be able to print out some of these receipts on a single piece of paper or maybe a card.

I think tortilla chips with dip is just wrong… Why not serve it with nachos? 🤷‍♂️

Followed it exactly and it was good, but I think it needs more taco seasoning or maybe a little garlic. Also, lettuce gets soggy if it sits too long.

This is dangerously easy—tastes way better than I expected. Perfect for game night. I used mild salsa and it still had great flavor.

Right?! I was skeptical but it’s actually addictive. I used medium salsa once and it still wasn’t too spicy. Definitely a game night staple.

Taco dip? Where is the meat then? Just cream cheese and vegetables ain’t my idea of a taco, sorry.

  9. 3 stars
Okay, but why is there lettuce ON TOP? I feel like it should be mixed in. Still tasty though—chips held up fine.

I didn’t have all the ingredients, so I used ranch instead of sour cream. It was weird but kinda good. 😂

I dunno, ranch sounds too tangy for taco dip. Wouldn’t it make it taste weird? 🤔

Only 1 cup salsa? Seems kinda low. My dip was thick and I had to loosen it with extra salsa. Might be my brand though.

  15. 3 stars
Easy to make but felt kinda basic? Need a special twist, maybe some beans or corn? 🤔

Too much cream cheese for my taste! I prefer a lighter dip. 😕

  21. 3 stars
Tasted ok but I think it could use more spice. Need to add jalapeños next time!

not worth it, the cream cheese is too much, just stick to regular salsa!!

Ehh, I dunno. Cream cheese is essential for my dips. Regular salsa just seems boring to me. :/

    2. User avatar Hillman Hunter says:

I think the cream cheese is what gives it that extra creaminess! You should give it another try. 😊

Cream cheese + sour cream dip is my love language. This scratches the nacho itch without doing the whole cooking thing.

This recipe is simple and quick. BUT my kids won’t eat olives, so I just left them out. 🤷‍♀️
