Saffron-Infused Baked Peaches

February 21, 2024

Saffron-infused baked peaches are the kind of dessert that feels both indulgent and refined. The natural sweetness of ripe peaches pairs beautifully with the exotic floral notes of saffron, making this treat perfect for a special occasion or a simple yet luxurious after-dinner indulgence. This dish is the perfect balance of sweet, aromatic, and subtly spicy, with the saffron adding a unique depth of flavor that elevates the humble peach into something extraordinary.

The process is incredibly simple, but the result is stunning. Start by halving ripe, juicy peaches and removing the pits. You can bake them with their skin on, which helps hold the shape while the peaches soften in the oven, or peel them if you prefer a smoother texture. The peaches are then drizzled with a honey-saffron syrup, a fragrant infusion of warm honey, a pinch of saffron threads, and a touch of warm water. The saffron blooms in the liquid, releasing its rich golden color and signature scent.

Once the syrup is poured over the peaches, the whole dish goes into the oven to bake, allowing the fruit to soften and soak in the delicate flavors of the honey and saffron. The result is a beautiful combination of caramelized edges and tender, juicy centers, with a golden saffron glaze that drips down the peaches, creating a syrupy sauce that’s perfect for spooning over the fruit.

For an extra touch, you can sprinkle toasted almonds or pistachios on top for crunch, or add a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream to enhance the dessert’s richness.

Saffron-infused baked peaches are a striking and sophisticated dessert that combines simplicity with elegance. The floral notes of saffron complement the sweetness of the peaches in a way that makes every bite feel like a special treat, turning a simple fruit into a luxurious indulgence. Whether you’re serving them for a dinner party or enjoying them on a quiet evening at home, these peaches are a beautiful and flavorful way to end any meal.

I’m skeptical about saffron being worth it here. Also, 1 tsp threads feels like a lot for peaches—mine might get too floral. Anyone tried reducing it?

  2. User avatar monnie.gislason52 says:

    3 stars
Tried this but the saffron was too strong. Maybe use less next time? Just my opinion.

    1. User avatar stanley.carter1958 says:

      4 stars
I love saffron, but I get what you mean! Maybe just a pinch next time? 😊

  3. User avatar sommer.romaguera79 says:

    3 stars
Only 20 minutes? My peaches never get that tender that fast, unless they’re super ripe. Maybe check earlier—like at 15—so they don’t go too mushy.

  4. User avatar maura.larson54 says:

    4 stars
Made it tonight and it came out super fragrant. The raisins + pistachios texture is the real win. Will bake again!

    1. User avatar casandra.daugherty says:

      5 stars
Omg yes—raisins + pistachios is such a great combo. Glad the saffron came through too! 😊 I’m stealing your “texture win” line for my next bake.

    2. User avatar hugo.pollich1993 says:

      3 stars
I made this too but mine didn’t turn out as fragrant… I think I overcooked the peaches a bit. Still tasty though—pistachios were crunchy at least.

  5. User avatar owen.medhurst70 says:

    4 stars
The instructions are easy. But 20 minutes at 375 feels a bit short/long depending on peach ripeness. Mine might need 25. Still delicious though.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—peach ripeness makes a big difference. I usually do closer to 25 too when they’re not super soft. Delicious either way!

    2. User avatar lindsey.moen says:

      4 stars
I baked mine for exactly 20 and they were perfect 😅 maybe my peaches were just extra ripe. Next time I’ll check at 15 and adjust.

  6. User avatar margeret.keeling0 says:

    3 stars
375°F for 20 minutes felt a little long for my peaches—they got too soft. Maybe my oven runs hot? Still tasty.

  7. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

    4 stars
Tastes great!!! But I accidentally added too much honey. My bad… but still good. 4 stars!

    1. User avatar jada.okon says:

      5 stars
I’ve done the same thing with honey! It can be so tempting to drizzle more. Still, the recipe sounds delicious! Glad you liked it!

  8. User avatar lyle.leuschke says:

    3 stars
375°F for 20 minutes felt short for my peaches; mine were softer but not as juicy as expected. Maybe my peaches were firmer than stated.

    1. User avatar lyman.schaden says:

      4 stars
375°F for 20 mins is totally short if your peaches ain’t super ripe. I tried it with firmer peaches and they stayed kinda “peachy but dry.” I’d either use riper ones or bake longer, no doubt.

    2. 3 stars
I felt the same at 20 minutes—my peaches weren’t very juicy either. Next time I’ll give them like 30 minutes or cover with foil for the first half so they steam more.

  9. User avatar jeffery.beatty25 says:

    5 stars
Who eats peaches without ice cream??? Can’t wait to make this!

  10. 4 stars
I made this last summer. Mine took more like 25-30 minutes because my peaches were super ripe and juicy. Still turned out great—pistachios and raisins are a surprisingly good pairing.

  11. User avatar irish.klein83 says:

    5 stars
10/10 for presentation. The colors look gorgeous after baking, and the toppings stay nice and crunchy-ish.

  12. User avatar ara.fadel says:

    2 stars
Idk why you would add raisins, don’t they just ruin it? I might skip them.

  13. User avatar emiko.skiles says:

    4 stars
The raisins + pistachios on peaches is… surprisingly good? I was skeptical, but I can see it working. Like a fancy fruit salad, lol.

  14. User avatar carlton.mclaughlin2019 says:

    4 stars
The honey + saffron steeping step is legit, I can’t deny that. Next time I’ll add a pinch of salt because mine tasted a tiny bit flat.

  15. 2 stars
Five minutes steeping saffron doesn’t sound long enough… like at all. Might be better with more time or I don’t know, more threads?

  16. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

    3 stars
My oven ran hot (like usual), so after 15 min the peaches were mushy. Still tasted amazing with ice cream. Next time I’ll lower temp.

    1. User avatar anton.adams3 says:

      5 stars
Oh no, mushy peaches is usually an oven temp issue. Lowering the temperature sounds right—maybe even check at 15 min next time. Glad it still tasted amazing with ice cream!

    2. User avatar jess.homenick99 says:

      4 stars
375°F seems kinda high for peaches? I’d try 350°F and bake just until they’re soft, not “fall apart.” Also, if your oven runs hot, using an oven thermometer helps a lot.

  17. User avatar tera.kulas3 says:

    3 stars
Saffron is expensive though… would it still work with just turmeric or something? Not sure I can justify 1 tsp threads.

  18. 3 stars
Is 375 degrees really hot enough? Didn’t cook through for me. Next time, maybe 400°.

  19. User avatar ehtel.ullrich52 says:

    4 stars
Baked peaches sound weird but I gave it a shot. Surprisingly good! 😋

    1. 5 stars
I was skeptical too but this is really delicious! The saffron adds such a unique flavor. 😍

  20. 2 stars
What are peaches? I’m not sure I like this. But the ice cream part sounds nice!

  21. 4 stars
I didn’t have saffron, so I used cinnamon instead. Still turned out good!

    1. User avatar bettina.boyer72 says:

      4 stars
Cinnamon? That’s a bold move! I might have to try that next time. 😄

    2. User avatar Margarito Crooks says:

      2 stars
But like, why not just get saffron? It’s not that hard to find. 🙄

  22. User avatar Hong Hauck says:

    3 stars
My peaches weren’t that ripe, so they came out a little firm. Next time I’ll buy softer ones and maybe extend the bake time by 5-10 minutes.

  23. User avatar helaine.altenwerth22 says:

    3 stars
375°F seems fine, but 20 minutes might be too short for my peaches—they were still kinda firm. Next time I’ll do 25.

  24. User avatar marion.breitenberg86 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about baking time… 20 minutes at 375°F left my peaches a little firm, so I’d check at 15. Still tasty, but I expected them to be way softer.

    1. User avatar gus.goyette41 says:

      4 stars
Huh, mine were super soft right at 20… maybe your peaches were more like “semi-ripe”? Also i think 375F is a lil high if they’re thick? Try lower heat or slice thinner next time. Still sounds great tho.

    2. 5 stars
Good point! I always start checking around 15 min too—mine tend to stay firmer if the peaches aren’t super juicy. Next time I’ll aim for “tender” instead of trusting the full 20.

  25. User avatar carmina.lebsack41 says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about saffron only steeping with honey for 5 minutes, but honestly it worked. Flavor popped. Great dessert.

    1. User avatar vannesa.cole0 says:

      5 stars
I was like “saffron + honey + 5 min?” but your comment sold it 😅 Flavor really does pop. Going to try this with some extra pistachios on top!

  26. 4 stars
Could you broil it at the end for caramelization? I feel like baked peaches stay too soft. Maybe 1-2 minutes?

  27. User avatar lincoln.jast79 says:

    5 stars
Quick and easy! Only took me 30 mins total. Loved it!

  28. User avatar duncan.jerde38 says:

    2 stars
Meh. 20 mins not enough for my oven. kids didnt even eat it all. sorry

  29. User avatar lin.borer59 says:

    5 stars
I love the mix of pistachios and raisins. It gives sweet + salty + chewy vibes. Definitely a repeat recipe.

  30. User avatar kina.doyle45 says:

    5 stars
Peachy keen! Easy peasy and so yummy with ice cream on top!

  31. User avatar lorelei.breitenberg7 says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, 1 tsp of saffron threads feels like a lot for my budget 😅 but the aroma must be wild. Would probably cut it down and still keep it tasty.

  32. User avatar Gretta Yundt says:

    4 stars
My kids loved it, but I didn’t have pistachios, so I used almonds instead. Still good!

    1. User avatar Vroomfondel says:

      4 stars
Almonds work fine! Glad your kids liked it. I wonder how it tastes with almonds!

  33. User avatar sergio.haley1998 says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and it was good, but my honey/saffron mixture never looked like it “steeped” much. Maybe my saffron was old. Flavor was there, just not super intense.

    1. 4 stars
That sounds like a saffron freshness issue, yeah. Sometimes the honey won’t “look” like anything is happening—especially if the threads are really old—but it can still add flavor. Next time, maybe crush the saffron a bit before steeping or steep closer to 10–15 minutes.

    2. User avatar jay.huels51 says:

      3 stars
I think 5 minutes is too short honestly. Mine always turns darker like tea, but if yours didn’t maybe your peaches were juicier than expected or the saffron was weaker. I’d try warming the honey slightly (not boiling) so it pulls more flavor.

  34. User avatar aaron.leannon72 says:

    3 stars
Lol I accidentally used ground saffron (oops). Still turned out pretty yellow and fragrant though. Will do whole threads next time.

  35. User avatar Hayden Seek says:

    5 stars
These peaches were so delicious! The saffron added a unique twist I didn’t expect. Will definitely make again.

  36. 3 stars
Saffron threads for baked peaches feels kinda overkill, not gonna lie. Also 1 tbsp butter for 4 peaches is kinda random. But I guess if you already have saffron it’s worth a shot.

  37. 3 stars
The butter step is key, I guess, but it got a little messy on my baking sheet. I’ll line it next time. Flavor was okay, not mind-blowing.

  38. 4 stars
My kids wouldn’t touch it… unless there’s ice cream. But honestly, the fruit smelled amazing while baking.

    1. User avatar darin.bruen55 says:

      5 stars
My kids are the same—straight-up “only if there’s ice cream” people 😄 But the fruit smell from the saffron honey must be unreal. Sounds like a win.

    2. User avatar ernestina.douglas says:

      3 stars
I dunno… saffron is kinda pricey for peaches, and 20 min at 375°F seems short. Also my peaches would be swimming—do you drain them first or nah?

  39. User avatar palmira.cole1966 says:

    5 stars
These sound ridiculously good—saffron + peaches is such a luxe combo. I’ll definitely try this with a little extra honey.

    1. User avatar demetrius.jacobi81 says:

      3 stars
Uh… I have saffron but peaches are super sour this year? Might be too much honey. Also 1 tsp saffron feels like a lot for 4 peaches? Still gonna try though lol.

    2. User avatar clair.conroy5 says:

      5 stars
Omg yes—saffron makes everything taste fancy. I bet the honey + butter soak in so nicely. Can’t wait to try it with extra honey like you said!

  40. 5 stars
These sound insanely fragrant. Saffron + peaches is such a fancy combo for such an easy bake—def trying this soon!

  41. 3 stars
My oven is kinda hot and I think this would burn the honey if baked too long. Also, “brush butter” seems messy—could try spooning it instead.

  42. User avatar tory.waelchi98 says:

    5 stars
    Wow. peaches 10/10

  43. User avatar myrtice.kunze81 says:

    3 stars
Okay but… i don’t have saffron threads 😅 can i use saffron powder? or should i just skip it? Thanks!

    1. 5 stars
If you don’t have threads, you can usually use saffron powder, but start with a *tiny* amount—powder is more concentrated. I’d do a pinch (about 1/8 tsp max) steeped with the honey for the 5 minutes. If you skip it entirely, the peaches will still taste great, just less aromatic/“saffron-y.”

  44. User avatar Tricia McMillan says:

    2 stars
Ehhh, I thought the butter was too much. Kinda greasy. 🤷‍♂️

    1. User avatar lizzette.koch48 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean! I cut back on the butter for mine and loved it! More honey next time, maybe?

  45. User avatar nicholle.schneider99 says:

    1 star
Meh. Pistachios and raisins on peaches just felt random. Maybe I didn’t chop the pistachios fine enough, but I probably won’t make again.

  46. User avatar hwa.armstrong64 says:

    5 stars
Yesss baked peaches are underrated. The melted butter made them kinda caramel-y on top and the toppings stayed crunchy-ish (unlike my last dessert).

    1. User avatar Thanatos says:

      5 stars
Agreed—caramel-y baked fruit is the best. I’m curious though, do the pistachios really stay crunchy after 20 minutes? I always end up with mushy toppings 😅

  47. User avatar twila.cremin25 says:

    4 stars
Simple and tasty, but next time I’m skipping the raisins. They ruin it for me.

  48. User avatar orville.heathcote40 says:

    3 stars
Baked peaches good, but why ice cream? Should be whipped cream!!

  49. User avatar jaquelyn.schulist23 says:

    5 stars
These sound insanely elegant for something so simple. The saffron + honey combo is gonna make the whole kitchen smell fancy.

  50. User avatar gregory.torphy25 says:

    5 stars
I was skeptical about saffron in a peach dessert… but wow, it tastes more “grown-up” than I expected. Definitely making again.

  51. User avatar sid.kuhlman says:

    2 stars
Confused about the butter step. Do you brush it first then honey, or should the honey go before? I did both anyway and it was okay.

  52. User avatar dominique.nienow64 says:

    5 stars
These baked peaches sound insanely fancy for how simple they are. Saffron + honey is such a good combo—I’ll be making this for guests.

  53. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    2 stars
Kinda basic? Like peaches, butter, honey… but adding pistachios helps. I’d give it a solid shot.

  54. User avatar wynell.zulauf55 says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight—so fragrant! The saffron honey is the star. I used slightly less honey because I’m watching sugar, but it still turned out great.

  55. User avatar wellRespected says:

    5 stars
This recipe is amazing! The saffron really makes it special. My family loved it!

  56. User avatar angla.watsica says:

    3 stars
Saffron in peaches sounds fancy but also kinda expensive for what it is. It tasted nice, but I’m not sure I’d buy saffron again just for this.

  57. 4 stars
Was skeptical at first, but my whole family loved it! A hit at dinner!

    1. User avatar quiana.hills says:

      5 stars
I’m glad your family enjoyed it! Saffron really adds a unique flavor, doesn’t it? I’ll have to try this recipe!

  58. User avatar latricia.glover says:

    3 stars
I tried this but the peaches were too mushy. Maybe I overbaked them?

  59. User avatar Wilfred Lang MD says:

    4 stars
I wasn’t sure about saffron with peaches, but it actually worked out surprisingly well. I’d give it a solid 4.

    1. User avatar everette.smith72 says:

      5 stars
I was skeptical too, but saffron with peaches sounds unique! Glad it worked for you. I’m definitely gonna try it now!

  60. 4 stars
Pretty tasty, but 20 minutes feels a bit short for my oven. I ended up baking closer to 28 minutes until they were really soft.

  61. 3 stars
I made something similar once and it turned out kinda watery. Any tips to keep the peaches from getting too soft?

  62. 5 stars
These baked peaches were insanely aromatic. The saffron-honey combo is fancy without being too hard. I used a little extra pistachio and it really worked.

  63. User avatar ashlee.gusikowski says:

    2 stars
Saffron? Isn’t that super expensive? Not sure this is worth it.

  64. 4 stars
I was skeptical about baking peaches for only 20 minutes, but the “tender and juicy” part makes sense. Tried it—worked great and smelled amazing.

  65. 3 stars
Um, isn’t saffron like really expensive? I dunno if I wanna waste it on peaches. Sounds fancy tho.

  66. User avatar adena.dubuque2015 says:

    2 stars
This recipe is fine but… 1 tsp saffron threads for 4 peaches? That seems like a lot. Tasted kinda intense to me. Still edible!

  67. 4 stars
So easy and so fast. I steeped the honey too long (like 20 min) and it was thicker, but still delicious. My family asked for seconds.

  68. User avatar Captain Ginyu says:

    4 stars
375°F is fine, but 20 minutes might be short for my peaches—they’re always huge. I’d check at 15 and adjust.

  69. 5 stars
These sound fancy but actually pretty doable. Saffron with peaches is such a classy combo—trying this this weekend!

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
Yes! Saffron + peaches is such a “fancy but not fussy” vibe. I’m making these this weekend too—maybe add a pinch of cinnamon?

    2. User avatar belinda.auer says:

      3 stars
Not sure about saffron with peaches. Saffron can be a bit pricey… but if the honey steeping actually makes it taste good, I’ll try. Quick question: do you chop the saffron threads or just use them as-is?

  70. User avatar Skeleton says:

    5 stars
Absolutely delicious! The saffron adds a unique flavor that I never expected. Will definitely make this again!

    1. 3 stars
I’ve never tried saffron in a dessert before! Sounds fancy. Will it really taste that good?
