Oreo Brownies

January 23, 2024

When two iconic desserts combine, magic happens. Oreo brownies bring together the dense, fudgy goodness of classic brownies with the crunch and creaminess of everyone’s favorite cookie. It’s a match made in dessert heaven.

The base of this treat is a rich brownie batter, made with real melted chocolate and a generous amount of cocoa powder. This double-chocolate combo guarantees that intense, deep cocoa flavor with every bite. The texture walks that perfect line between gooey and chewy, giving you everything you want in a brownie.

But what makes these special, of course, are the Oreos. Some are crushed and folded into the batter, some are layered whole for a surprise crunch, and a few are crumbled on top for that picture-perfect finish. When baked, the cookies soften slightly while still holding their structure, offering a contrast of textures that takes these brownies to another level.

They’re surprisingly easy to make. No mixer needed, just a couple of bowls and a whisk. You can use store-brand chocolate sandwich cookies if you prefer, or even try fun seasonal Oreo flavors for a twist, think mint, peanut butter, or red velvet.

Want to elevate them even more? Serve your Oreo brownies slightly warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle with a bit of melted white chocolate. You can even bake them in muffin tins for individual servings, perfect for parties or packed lunches.

These brownies are great for bake sales, birthdays, or just curing a serious chocolate craving. They store well, too, so you can make them ahead and keep a stash for those moments when only chocolate will do.

Whether you’re baking for Oreo fans or brownie lovers (or both), this recipe delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Soft, rich, and cookie-loaded, these Oreo brownies are guaranteed to disappear fast.

There’s a lot of butter in this. Is it healthy? I feel like I should use less next time.

I followed the recipe but they came out too dense. What did I do wrong? 🤔

    1. User avatar loyd.renner45 says:

      3 stars
I dunno, they shouldn’t be dense. Did you measure everything right? Like, too much flour or somethin’?

    2. 4 stars
Maybe you overmixed the batter? That can make them dense. Just mix until combined next time! 😊

  9. User avatar maynard.abbott47 says:

    3 stars
Why do you need to melt the butter? I just mixed everything cold and it worked fine.

    1. User avatar Chasity Jacobson says:

      4 stars
Melted butter helps to create a smoother batter and better texture. Cold butter can change the outcome! Just saying.

    2. User avatar kenneth.hessel46 says:

Who needs melted butter? I mean, if it worked for YOU, then it’s probably fine. But I’d still stick with the recipe instructions.

Can I sub butter with oil? Ugh, I wish I could’ve read the whole recipe first.

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, I think butter is kinda essential for that brownie fudginess. Oil might not cut it. Just my opinion.

    2. User avatar amado.stamm says:

      4 stars
Yeah, you can use oil instead of butter! But it might change the texture a bit. Butter gives a richer flavor, ya know?

  30. User avatar nell.lowe52 says:

    3 stars
I don’t really like Oreos, can I use chocolate chips instead? Will it still be good???

  31. User avatar margarett.dietrich10 says:

Brownies with Oreos?! That’s a bit much, isn’t it? Seems like a sugar overload.

  35. 2 stars
Oreo brownies? Sounds too simple. How can they be that good? Never thought brownies be so basic.

  36. User avatar Grandpa Gohan says:

    4 stars
This recipe is okay, but I’m not a fan of Oreos. Can I use chocolate chips instead? If yes, how much?

    2. User avatar robbie.witting2007 says:

      4 stars
Maybe you overmixed the batter? That can make it cakey instead of fudgy. Just a thought!

  48. 5 stars

Looks super good! But why do ppl put Oreos in brownies? It’s just… odd.

  59. 2 stars
I dunno, they didn’t come out the way I thought. Maybe I did something wrong? Not as chocolatey as I expected.

  60. User avatar Android 20 says:

    2 stars
I followed the recipe exactly but my brownies turned out like cake… What did I do wrong?

    1. 4 stars
It might be the ratio of flour to cocoa! If you add too much flour, they can turn out like cake instead of being fudgy. Maybe try less flour next time?

    2. User avatar forrest.doyle67 says:

      5 stars
Cake-like brownies? Sounds like you overmixed the batter! Less mixing can help keep them more brownie-like.

This is not how you make brownies. Where’s the chocolate? Very disappointed.

Eh… I mean, they’re fine… but really just taste like normal brownies to me. Not sure what the fuss is about.
