I dunno… it was good but kinda bland. Needs some spices or something.

    1. User avatar The Allitnils says:

I totally agree! A bit of garlic or some Italian seasoning could kick it up a notch. Maybe even some red pepper flakes for a bit of heat!

  2. User avatar georgette.wilkinson74 says:

    3 stars
I did everything exactly and it came out kinda watery. Maybe my marinara was extra runny? I’d recommend draining or using a thicker sauce.

    1. User avatar leon.aufderhar1977 says:

      4 stars
Ugh, that’s frustrating 😕 I bet you’re right about the marinara—some cans are way runnier. Next time I’d either simmer it a few minutes to reduce, or use a thicker marinara and maybe add an extra layer of cheese to help it set.

  3. User avatar Super Saiyan Trunks says:

Easy and quick! Perfect for busy nights. Will make it again!

I totally agree! So easy to whip up after a long day. Love this recipe!

Meh. Frozen meatballs always taste kinda meh to me, but the sauce and cheese help. Still, I’d rather do homemade meatballs.

The rolls part confused me—why toast at the end? I just broiled mine and it burned fast. Watch it, folks. Otherwise pretty good.

    1. User avatar millard.bernhard58 says:

      3 stars
Wait so you bake the rolls separately? I tried broiling mine after the casserole came out and it turned black in like 1 minute… might be the oven temp. Maybe don’t do it at 375? Also my rolls got soggy even toasted, not sure why.

    2. User avatar maryanne.bartell says:

      5 stars
Totally get the confusion. The last-5-min toast is just to warm the rolls and melt/activate some of the Parmesan—like a faux-sub crunch. If yours burned fast, I’d start checking at like 3 minutes or lower the oven a bit.

  6. 2 stars
Could’ve been better. The sauce was kinda bland, not enough flavor.

  7. User avatar lloyd.leffler1977 says:

Mine came out a little dry on top, I think because my oven runs hot. Next time I’ll cover it with foil for the first half. Still good though.

    1. 5 stars
Good call—foil for the first half is a smart fix if your oven runs hot. I’ve noticed frozen meatballs can brown a bit faster on top too, so covering usually helps keep it from drying out. Glad it was still tasty!

Meatball sub casserole? Sounds like a mix-up to me. Not a fan of any subs.

    1. User avatar King Dorephan says:

      5 stars
I think it’s a great idea! Meatballs and cheese make everything better. Give it a try!

    2. User avatar lawerence.price1988 says:

Just because it’s a sub form doesn’t mean it’s bad! Everyone has their tastes, I guess.

  9. 5 stars
I made this last night and it was gone in minutes! Definitely a keeper! 😍

    1. User avatar Draugr Scourge says:

      5 stars
I’m so glad you liked it! It’s super easy, right? 🙌

    2. User avatar cindi.wisozk78 says:

      3 stars
Gone that quick? Looks like I gotta try it, but I ain’t a fan of meatballs tho 🤔.

  10. User avatar gillian.kozey7 says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight—so easy and honestly the frozen meatballs worked perfectly. The cheese gets all bubbly like you want. 10/10 comfort food.

  11. 5 stars
This is the best thing ever! I added some spices and it was super tasty!

  12. User avatar Alia Atreides says:

    2 stars
Why bake the rolls separately at all? I just shoved everything together and used broth, and it turned into a soggy mess. Stick to the steps 😅

  13. User avatar anja.koelpin34 says:

    3 stars
Could’ve used more sauce. Mine dried out slightly because my marinara was thicker, so I added a splash of water and stirred a bit before baking.

    1. User avatar harold.conn91 says:

      5 stars
Good call on thinning the marinara—mine was a little thick too once and it dried out in the same way. I usually add a splash of water or extra sauce before baking so it stays saucy.

  14. 5 stars
Oh my gosh, this was so delicious! My kids loved it! I will definitely make it again.

    1. 5 stars
So glad to hear that! My kids loved it too! Easy and yummy!

  15. User avatar homer.rodriguez says:

    2 stars
Its ok, but I prefer making my own meatballs. It feels healthier.

    1. User avatar claudie.ankunding2006 says:

      4 stars
Homemade is always better! But this casserole sounds super easy for a busy night. Maybe I’ll give it a try once! 😊

  16. User avatar craig.anderson says:

    4 stars
Way too cheesy (in a good way). Next time I’ll add a little garlic powder to the marinara layer because it tastes a bit flat without it.

  17. User avatar kira.johns says:

    3 stars
375°F seems low? Mine needed longer than 30 minutes to fully bake through. Could be oven differences, but keep an eye on it.

  18. 2 stars
Not sure about the “even layer” instructions lol. My meatballs clumped up and I ended up with uneven sauce coverage. I think spreading frozen ones out more carefully would help.

  19. User avatar grayce.metz says:

    2 stars
Why toast the rolls only in the last 5 minutes? I tried it and they burned fast. I’d rather toast separately or cover them with foil.

  20. User avatar casey.collier81 says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about using frozen meatballs, but it came out great. I added a pinch of garlic powder and it boosted the flavor a lot.

  21. 2 stars
Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of meatballs and this didn’t change my mind. Too saucy for me.

  22. User avatar kenton.dubuque says:

    1 star
My oven is broken, can I just microwave it? 🤔

  23. 4 stars
Solid idea, but I wish the instructions mentioned whether to thaw the frozen meatballs. I baked mine the full time and they were hot, but I had to add like 10 minutes for a couple that were still icy in the center.

    1. 4 stars
Yeah, I’d rather it say thaw or not. I usually don’t thaw my meatballs either, but “25–30 min” feels like it depends a lot on size/oven. Maybe 35 min would’ve saved you those extra 10… just sayin’.

    2. User avatar zachery.king1952 says:

      5 stars
Good catch! The wording is a little vague—since they’re frozen, you generally bake until they’re heated through. I’ll add a note like “no thawing needed, bake until internal temp is done” and maybe “start checking at ~25 min.” Thanks!

  24. 4 stars
I like the idea, but 25-30 minutes felt a little short for my oven. I had to bake closer to 40 minutes so the meatballs were really hot. Still tasty though.

  25. User avatar bobbie.oreilly13 says:

    4 stars
The parmesan on the rolls makes it taste like bakery garlic bread. Would absolutely make again.

  26. User avatar Leto II Atreides says:

    5 stars
I skipped the toasted rolls and just ate it straight with garlic bread—still amazing. Also, 2 cups mozzarella felt like the right amount for once.

    1. User avatar val.vonrueden15 says:

      5 stars
That sounds dangerously good 😄 I’m with you on skipping the toasting sometimes—garlic bread is basically cheating in the best way.

  27. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

    2 stars
Not as good as I imagined. The rolls got too soggy. Next time I’ll toast them first, I guess?

  28. User avatar Grunthos the Flatulent says:

    3 stars
I think 25 minutes might be short for thicker frozen meatballs. Mine needed closer to 35 to be fully heated.

  29. 5 stars
This recipe is amazing! So easy and so delicious. My family loved it!

    1. User avatar Elaine Koss says:

      3 stars
But like, are frozen meatballs really that good? I’ve always made my own. 🤔

I don’t know about this. Frozen meatballs? Come on, use fresh ones! 🙄

    1. User avatar lionel.toy50 says:

      4 stars
I get your point, but frozen meatballs are super convenient! Not everyone has time to make fresh ones. 🤷‍♀️

  32. User avatar alfredia.towne68 says:

    4 stars
Yum! The mozzarella was really stretchy! Can I use fresh meatballs instead?

  33. 4 stars
Yummy! But where’s the garlic? Needs more seasoning, tho.

  34. 5 stars
I’m skeptical of frozen meatballs in a casserole… but I was wrong. It tasted like a real meatball sub, and my kids actually ate it (rare!).

  35. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    3 stars
Way too much cheese for me. I think half would be better 🙄

  36. 5 stars
This is a game changer! So easy to make and my kids loved it!

  37. 5 stars
Honestly, this is genius for weeknights. Frozen meatballs bake right through, and the marinara keeps everything moist. I might add some garlic powder next time.

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan 3 Goku says:

      3 stars
Wait, the sub rolls go in the oven only last 5 minutes—won’t they be kinda soft? Maybe I should toast them separately first. Still sounds tasty though.

    2. 5 stars
Totally agree—this is one of those “real life” weeknight wins. I’ve made something similar and it stays juicy. Next time I’ll try adding garlic powder too!

  38. 1 star
Casseroles are overrated. I prefer my meatballs on spaghetti.

    1. 3 stars
Meatball sub casserole sounds delish! But why put it in a casserole? Just makes it a mess, lol.

  39. User avatar ariana.parisian27 says:

    4 stars
Meatball sub casserole? sounds genius. Kids ate it without complaining (rare!).

  40. 5 stars

Too easy, not adding this to my dinner rotation. Can’t even call it a casserole.

  43. 4 stars

Meh. I thought this was gonna be great but it was just alright. Had to add hot sauce.

    1. User avatar fermin.dibbert80 says:

      4 stars
Maybe it needed more seasoning? I think it sounds good but I guess everyone has different tastes.

    2. User avatar lucien.kshlerin2025 says:

      2 stars
Hot sauce? Seriously? This is a meatball sub casserole, not a taco! 🤦‍♂️

  45. User avatar vicente.cummerata says:

    4 stars
Tasty but I forgot the parm cheese and it was still good! Gonna try again with it next time.

  46. User avatar charity.haley says:

    4 stars
Easy peasy! Didn’t have sub rolls, used regular bread. Still turned out great!

  47. User avatar elroy.donnelly41 says:

    3 stars
This sounds good, but can I bake it for longer? I like it crunchy.

  48. User avatar Mr. Prosser says:

    5 stars
I can’t believe how quick this was to make! I added some peppers and onions for extra flavor.

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

  49. User avatar frederic.gleason1951 says:

    5 stars
I love this recipe! It was so easy to make and cleanup was a breeze! Perfect for busy nights.

  56. 4 stars
The parmesan on the rolls is genius. I toasted mine a tiny bit too long and they were crunchy-crispy, but still delish. Would absolutely make again.

  57. User avatar carmel.mcdermott says:

    5 stars
My kids called it ‘pizza meatballs’ lol. I used shredded mozz from the store and it melted beautifully.

  58. User avatar virgil.schowalter says:

    4 stars
Just do it fast and throw it in—375 and done. Honestly tasted way better than I expected. Meatball sub energy!

    1. User avatar mickey.johnston says:

      3 stars
Hmm I tried frozen meatballs before and they were sometimes kinda watery… did you drain them or just dump straight in? Still, 375 seems easy.

    2. 5 stars
375 and done is my kind of cooking 😄 The meatball sub vibe sounds spot on—gonna try it exactly like this!

  59. User avatar Jarrett Treutel says:

    5 stars
Yummy! I wanna make this for my friends when they come over. Perfect for a party!

    1. User avatar basementDweller says:

  60. User avatar lowell.feil6 says:

The instructions are simple, but I wish it mentioned whether to thaw the meatballs first. I baked them from frozen and they were hot eventually, just not “even” in the middle.
