Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • butter or oil for greasing the pan

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it's okay if there are small lumps.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Grease with butter or oil.
  • Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot skillet and spread it in a circular motion to form a pancake.
  • Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter.
  • Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Too much sugar for my taste. I prefer savory pancakes… What if you made them without sugar?

Savory pancakes do sound good! You could try adding some herbs or cheese instead of sugar!

Why buttermilk? Can regular milk work? Lol I dunno, but my pancakes burned. Sorry not sorry!

Lol sorry to hear about the burned pancakes! Maybe turn down the heat next time? Buttermilk is better tho. It adds tang!

Buttermilk makes them fluffier! Regular milk might not give you the same texture. But hey, pancakes can be a bit tricky!

Honestly, I thought they would taste weird cuz it’s Indian, but they were so good! I added some chocolate chips.

Im the worst cook ever but these turned out okay. My kids didn’t complain, so I guess that’s a win!

Easy recipe but mine were kinda flat. I think I need to pay more attention to the baking powder, right?

I dunno… my pancakes never turn out this good. 😕 Maybe I need to try harder or something.

I don’t know about these pancakes. It says Indian but they taste like regular pancakes. Confusing!

They might not taste very different from regular pancakes because they use similar ingredients. You could try adding spices like cardamom or cinnamon for a more authentic flavor!

Pancakes? Meh. I prefer waffles. But my family loved these, I guess it’s a hit for them.

    1. 4 stars
Waffles are great too, but pancakes have their charm! Glad your family liked them.

Not a fan of pancakes? Wow, that’s surprising! They can be pretty tasty with syrup.

Yum! But why not add some spice like masala? That would make it more Indian. Just a thought! 😊

Not the best recipe. My pancakes came out too dense. I think I might’ve mixed the batter too much.

I had the same problem, but then I realized I was mixing it too much as well! Just don’t stir too hard next time, and they’ll fluff up. Good luck!

Easy to make but they turned out kinda flat. 🤷‍♀️ Not sure what I did wrong.

Maybe your baking powder was old? It can affect the rise. I’ve had flat pancakes before too. Just keep trying!

Indian pancakes? Sounds like an oxymoron. Just call it pancake… whatever.
