Nothing says “I love you” like a heart-shaped homemade pizza. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, hosting a fun family dinner, or just want to add a little flair to your next pizza night, this playful twist on a classic dish will make everyone smile.
The beauty of this pizza lies in its versatility. You can use any pizza dough recipe you love, store-bought or homemade. For a quick shortcut, opt for pre-made dough, which works perfectly for this project. If you prefer to make your own dough, a simple mix of flour, yeast, olive oil, and water will do the trick. Allow it to rise, then roll it out into a heart shape. The trick is to start by rolling your dough into a circle and then gently pulling and shaping the edges into a heart, working with your hands to form the point and the top curves.
Once your heart-shaped dough is ready, it’s time to pile on the toppings. Start with a thin layer of pizza sauce, and then add your favorite cheese – mozzarella is the classic choice, but you can mix it up with provolone, goat cheese, or even a bit of ricotta. Then, go wild with your toppings! You can keep it simple with a classic Margherita, fresh basil and sliced tomatoes, or get creative with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, or even some fresh arugula after baking for a peppery finish.
Bake your pizza at a high temperature (about 475°F or 245°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. The result is a crisp, cheesy, and fun pizza that’s perfect for sharing.
Heart-shaped homemade pizza isn’t just about looks, it’s about making a meal that’s full of love and personality. It’s perfect for date night, family gatherings, or any occasion where you want to serve something a little extra special. Serve with a side salad, a glass of wine, or your favorite beverage, and enjoy every bite.

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter
- Pepperoni slices
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each piece into a heart shape using the heart-shaped cookie cutter as a guide.
- Place the heart-shaped pizza crusts on a greased baking sheet.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over each crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let the pizzas cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
- Fold a pepperoni slice in half and use a pair of kitchen shears to trim the edges into the shape of half of a heart. Arrange a layer of pepperoni hearts over the pizza dough.
I don’t know about the heart shape… just feels gimmicky. Taste over form, right?
Yum! I added some veggies on top too. Gave it a nice crunch. Super easy to make!
Loved it! I added some jalapeños for a kick! Definitely making this again.
Who knew making heart pizzas could be so fun! Ideal for Valentine’s day, right?
This recipe is so cute! I made it for my kids and they loved the heart shape. Will definitely make again!
This looks so cute! Can’t wait to make it for my boyfriend’s birthday. ❤️
This pizza turned out amazing! We loved the heart shape. Great for date night!
Had a blast making these with my kids! They turned out yummy and we had fun!
This pizza is sooo cute! I made it for my kids and they loved the heart shape. Taste was amazing too! 😍
Looks great and all, but my kids are picky eaters. This might not work for them. 🤔
That’s awesome! I love the idea of heart-shaped pizza for kids. Gonna try it this weekend! ❤️
Yum! I love this! Pizza on Valentine’s day? Genius! Would recommend to all my friends! 💖
Pizza on Valentine’s? Sounds kinda weird to me. I thought it’s more about fancy dinners? Anyway, good luck with that.
Absolutely! Pizza for Valentine’s is perfect! Can’t wait to try this out. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
My dough didn’t rise! What did I do wrong? 😟
Do you even need the cutter? Can’t I just mold it by hands? Sounds silly, right? 🤔
Someone told me adding pineapple makes it soggy… anyone tried it? 🤔
This was super delicious! Everyone in my house enjoyed it. Thanks!
My dough didn’t rise, what did I do wrong? I followed all the steps. So frustraiting!
Sounds like your yeast might not have been active. Did you use warm water? It should be warm to the touch but not hot! Keep at it, you’ll get there!
Yum! but I didn’t have mozzarella so I used cheddar. Either way, it’s a win!
Super easy and quick. My husband loved it! Will definitely make again.
I dont like pepperonis, can I use chicken? Also, I don’t see why it’s heart shaped.
You can totally use chicken instead of pepperoni! Totally your pizza, do what you love! 😊
Chicken? Idk if dat works, but hey maybe it will taste good. But also, heart shaped? It’s for Valentine’s Day, duh!
Very simple recipe, but my crust was too thick. Guess I rolled it wrong.
Pizza is good but my girl said it looks like a fish. 😂 Still tasty tho.
I dunno about heart shapes. My pizza just ends up lookin like a blob. But if it tastes good, who cares? 😅
Haha, that’s hilarious! A fish-shaped pizza would definitely be unique! Glad it still tasted good. 😂
This pizza was so cute! My kids loved it. 🥰
What if I don’t have a heart cutter, can I just freehand it? 🤷♀️
Pizza sauce? Why not just use ketchup? It’s practically the same!
I don’t understand why you’d make a pizza heart. Pizza is round for a reason. Tried it anyway, and it was okay.
I followed the recipe, but my dough didn’t rise at all. What did I do wrong? So disappointed.
Gave this a try! My pizza came out burnt on the bottom but the kids still ate it. Maybe I’ll try again.
Heart-shaped pizza?! Really? Next you’ll say slice it like a star. Who has time for that?
Super easy and fun! I added veggies too. Perfect for Valentine’s Day!
My boyfriend loved it! He said it was the best pizza he’s had. ❤️
So to make it heart-shaped, do I need a cutter? Can’t I just shape it by hand? Asking for a friend.
This was a disaster! It turned into a flat blob on the baking sheet.
This is way too complicated for a pizza! Just buy frozen!
I think making it yourself is much better than frozen! The love makes it taste better! ❤️
Easy recipe but I substituted the mozzarella for cheddar because I had it on hand. Still tasty!
I don’t know about making my own dough, sounds hard. Can I just use store-bought? 😩
I am not good at baking, but this felt easy enough. My kids helped too. They loved making hearts!
Yum! But my cheese burnt. Next time I’ll watch it more closely.
Can I use store-bought dough instead? Not good at making my own. LOL
Honestly, I don’t get the hype. It’s just a pizza… Tried it and it was okay but nothing special.
The dough was too sticky for me to work with, I ended up just making normal pizzas. What’s the point of the heart shape anyway?
Pizza! 🍕💖
I love pizza but this heart shape is dumb. Just make it round like a normal pizza! 😂
Pizza rules! Can’t wait to try but honestly, who’s measuring flour? Just eyeball it! 🤪
Dough didn’t rise… Think I used old yeast? Gonna try again! 😠
