Grilled Greek Shrimp

May 30, 2024

When it comes to quick, healthy meals that pack a punch of flavor, grilled Greek shrimp is hard to beat. This Mediterranean-inspired dish brings together succulent shrimp, vibrant herbs, zesty lemon, and a touch of garlic for a simple yet satisfying recipe that’s ready in minutes.

The key to this dish is the marinade. A blend of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, and parsley infuses the shrimp with classic Greek flavors. Letting the shrimp marinate for even just 15 to 30 minutes gives them an extra layer of brightness and tenderness. If you have time, chilling them in the marinade for an hour will only deepen the flavor.

Grilling adds a smoky char that pairs perfectly with the tangy citrus and herbs. Use skewers for easy flipping, and grill the shrimp over medium-high heat just until they turn pink and slightly crispy on the edges, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.

Serve these grilled shrimp with a side of tzatziki sauce, fresh pita, or a crisp cucumber and tomato salad for a meal that feels like a Greek island getaway. They also make a delicious topping for rice bowls, pasta, or even a light summer salad.

This recipe is incredibly versatile. You can double the batch for entertaining, serve it as an appetizer at your next cookout, or make it part of your weekly meal prep. It’s naturally gluten-free, low in carbs, and full of protein, making it a smart choice for a balanced lifestyle.

I forgot to buy basil, so I used a spice mix instead. Wasn’t the same tho. 3 stars for me.

But basil is key in Greek dishes! Mixing might not cut it. You know what I mean? I stick to the recipe or it ain’t right. 2 stars for me.

Using a spice mix is a good idea when you’re in a pinch! Sometimes, you gotta improvise. 4 stars seems fair for that.

Too much garlic for my taste. Maybe I did it wrong? Not a hit at my house.

It sounds good, but isn’t shrimp kinda tricky? I had once and it turned out rubbery. Maybe I’ll try it again following your notes. 🤔

Shrimp was overcooked on the grill, but the marinade was good. Next time I’ll keep an eye on them.
