Few things hit the spot like a perfectly grilled Greek chicken gyro. It’s the kind of meal that’s packed with flavor, easy to make, and endlessly satisfying. Whether you’re serving them up for a casual weeknight dinner or a weekend gathering, these gyros never disappoint.
The heart of this dish is the chicken, marinated in a blend of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, and a touch of yogurt. This simple marinade works magic, keeping the chicken juicy and infusing it with classic Greek flavors. Grill it until slightly charred and golden brown, then slice it thin for that signature gyro texture.
But the real fun begins when it’s time to assemble. Start with warm, soft pita bread. Lay down a generous portion of the grilled chicken, then top it with a refreshing mix of crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, red onion slices, and tangy feta cheese. Finally, don’t forget the tzatziki, the creamy cucumber-yogurt sauce that ties it all together. You can make your own or use a good-quality store-bought version if you’re short on time.
What makes gyros such a crowd-pleaser is the balance of textures and flavors. The warm, tender chicken contrasts with the cool crunch of veggies, while the tangy tzatziki adds a smooth, zesty finish. It’s fresh, filling, and finger-licking good.
These gyros are also super customizable. Add olives or roasted red peppers for extra flair. Or swap the chicken for grilled shrimp, lamb, or even falafel to mix things up. You can serve them wrapped for a street-food vibe or deconstructed on a platter for a build-your-own style dinner.
Grilled Greek chicken gyros bring the taste of the Mediterranean to your table with minimal fuss. They’re flavorful, portable, and perfect for sharing, a true go-to recipe when you want something both healthy and delicious.

Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp Greek seasoning blend
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup dill chopped fresh
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita bread
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup red onion sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, Greek seasoning blend, olive oil, and salt and pepper. Mix well.
- Add the chicken breasts to the bowl and toss until they are well coated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through and juices run clear. Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before slicing into thin strips.
- While the chicken is resting, make the tzatziki sauce by combining the Greek yogurt, chopped dill, lemon juice, and salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
- To assemble the gyros, warm the pita breads on the grill or stovetop. Spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, and grilled chicken strips.
- Fold the pita in half and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious homemade Greek chicken gyros!
This is the kind of recipe I can do without stress. The marinade smells amazing. My kids asked for seconds (which is rare).
Not for me.
OMG, I can’t believe how good this was! Like, total restaurant quality! 😍
This was amazing! The chicken was so flavorful! My whole family loved it!
So glad to hear that! It’s my go-to recipe for family dinners. ❤️
I omitted the red onion since I hate it, but still turned out great! Who cares about onions?
Simple to follow but I burned the chicken. Yikes! I’ll try again. Maybe less time on grill?
Looks good but not a fan of Greek food 🤷♂️.
Not gonna lie, my chicken was a little dry. I think I overcooked—next time I’ll pull it when it’s just cooked through.
Not bad! But my tzatziki came out kinda thin—maybe my yogurt was too runny? Still tasted good though.
Made this last weekend and wow—super flavorful! The dill + lemon in the tzatziki is a perfect match, and the chicken stayed juicy even though I grilled it a bit longer than stated.
Not gonna lie, my tzatziki turned out too sour even with lemon. Next time I’ll cut the lemon juice in half. Other than that, easy and good.
Yum! My kids devoured these gyros. They said it’s their new favorite dinner!
That’s awesome! I’m glad your kids loved it. These gyros are seriously a hit in our house too!
Not bad at all! I used dried dill because I didn’t have fresh and it was okay, just less punchy. Next time I’ll grab fresh dill.
Interesting—I’ve always thought dried dill is basically equal to fresh, but I guess for gyros it matters. I usually throw in the whole jar of Greek seasoning blend though, so maybe that’s why mine tastes strong already. Yours sounds legit!
Glad it still worked! Dried dill definitely won’t hit the same—fresh has way more aroma. If you ever use dried again, maybe use a bit less (since it can get musty) and add it a little later in the tzatziki so it stays punchy. 😄
My kids loved these gyros! Even picky eaters enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing!
I followed it pretty much exactly, but the marinade tasted a little salty for me. Next time I’ll go lighter on the salt and maybe add a squeeze more lemon. Flavor was good overall.
Totally get that—Greek seasoning blends can be saltier than expected. I usually cut back the salt and then add lemon gradually like you suggested. Glad the overall flavor was still great!
Honestly I think it might be the yogurt too? Mine always tastes kinda tangy/salty if I don’t rinse the dill (lol). Next time I’ll use less Greek seasoning and more lemon juice, not just salt. Also 6-8 min per side felt long on my grill.
I didn’t have fresh dill, so I used dried. It tasted… fine? Not the same vibe, but everyone ate it anyway lol.
Honestly “fine” is still a win 😄 Dried dill can be a little more muted than fresh, so it makes sense the vibe was off. Glad everyone ate it anyway!
This is bomb! I added some feta cheese and it took it to another level. 😍
This recipe is amazing! My family loved it. Will definitely make again!
These gyros were amazing! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. Will definitely make again!
Not gonna lie, I was worried 6-8 minutes per side would be too fast, but my chicken came out juicy. Good instructions.
The seasoning was too much for me. I prefer simpler flavors. Maybe less garlic next time?
I understand! Some people just like it simple. Have you tried just using lemon and olive oil? So good!
Less garlic? Nah! More garlic is always better! You just gotta give it a chance, trust me!
The pita bread turned into a soggy mess for me. How do you keep it from getting wet?
Too much garlic, maybe? My breath wasn’t great after! 😂
Haha, yeah! Garlic can do that! But it’s so worth it for the flavor, right?
I was skeptical about 1 hour being enough, but it turned out great. Next time I’ll marinate overnight for extra punch.
Same here—I didn’t think 1 hour would do much, but the chicken was super juicy. I’ll definitely try overnight next time for even more flavor!
Not to be rude, but 6-8 min per side seems fast for 4 chicken breasts. Mine would’ve been raw, lol. I ended up checking with a thermometer and it needed more time. Still tasty though!
Okay but why grill the pita *on the grill*? Mine got hard fast. Maybe warm it on the stove instead—overall delicious, just assembly logistics were annoying.
Totally get that—pita can go hard fast if it sits on the grill too long or the heat’s too high. I usually do like 15–30 seconds per side and keep them from drying out. Stovetop/warm skillet is totally a good call if yours got crunchy.
Weird, mine did the opposite—like it stayed soft. Maybe you over-grilled them or the pita was already stale? If you warm on stove, cover with a towel or a quick lid so it steams a bit. Either way, great you liked the chicken.
I tried this and the chicken got burnt on the grill 😩. Maybe cool the grill?
Made this for dinner tonight and wow—juicy chicken and the tzatziki is super fresh. I let it marinate overnight and it really paid off. Will definitely repeat.
I tried it but mine was kinda salty? I think my “Greek seasoning blend” was stronger than yours. The tzatziki tasted good though—fresh dill vibes. Next time I’ll go lighter on the salt.
Yes!! Marinating overnight is the move—totally agree it makes the chicken so much juicier. I’ve started doing that too and now I don’t want it any other way. 🔥
This recipe is fantastic! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. Will definitely make again.
Absolutely loved this recipe! The chicken was so flavorful and juicy! Will definitely make it again. 🌟
This really tastes like a restaurant dish! I made it for my family and they were so impressed! 😍
That’s awesome! I can’t wait to try it out. My family loves Greek food! 😋
Really? I mean, it looks good and all, but can it really taste like a restaurant’s? Just sounds too easy.
Pita on the grill… sounds messy lol. Also, 1 hour marinade feels short for my taste but maybe I’m doing it wrong.
Totally get you—pita on the grill *can* get a little chaotic 😂 I usually do the chicken longer than 1 hour too; overnight is where the flavor really pops. If you’re only giving it an hour, make sure the chicken is cut into thinner pieces or the marinade is really reaching all sides.
Good but why do you put dill in yogurt? I’m not a fan of herbs.
Great recipe, but I couldn’t find Greek seasoning, so I used Italian… wasn’t the same. Oops.
Flavor is great, but the directions say “remove from the marinade” like the bowl just disappears 😅. I still brushed off excess and it was fine.
Wait… do you really need to remove it? Wouldn’t leaving some marinade on the chicken make it more flavorful? I’ve been doing that and it turns out kinda caramel-y on the grill.
Haha I know exactly what you mean 😅 “remove from the marinade” always sounds like the bowl teleports. I usually lift the chicken out with tongs and quickly shake off any drips—still comes out perfect.
I followed it mostly but I didn’t have Greek seasoning, so I used Italian herbs. Not the same vibe, but it was still tasty. I think dill makes it though.
This recipe was amazing! The chicken was tender and full of flavor. My family loved it!
The marinade tasted great but my chicken ended up a little dry. Next time I’ll watch the grill temp and maybe do a shorter cook + thicker slices.
Hmm 6-8 min per side feels long for chicken breasts unless they’re super thick. Medium-high might be too hot and the outside can dry before the inside gets there. I’d try lower heat or a quick thermometer check—165°F and pull it.
Glad the marinade worked for you! Dry chicken on a gyro usually comes down to cook time—your idea of thicker slices + a shorter cook sounds spot on. Also, resting for 5 minutes really helps keep it juicy.
Greek seasoning? Isn’t that just oregano and basil? Seemed kinda basic to me.
Meh, I’ve had better. This didn’t wow me at all.
I followed everything and mine was kinda bland… like not enough salt? The Greek seasoning brand might matter. The sauce tasted better than the meat, honestly.
Hmm that sounds frustrating. If the sauce tasted better than the meat, I’d guess the chicken needed more salt/seasoning before grilling—like maybe add extra salt directly to the marinade (and don’t be shy with pepper too). Also did you refrigerate at least a few hours? Overnight really helps.
This is way better than takeout. Also, warming the pitas on the grill makes a huge difference (crispy edges!!).
Totally agree—warming the pitas on the grill is the secret. Those crispy edges make it feel way more legit than takeout.
I followed everything but my pita tore when I folded it 😭. Any tips for warming them without drying out?
Yum! Perfect for summer barbecues. Definitely recommend!
I’m not a big fan of yogurt, so I left out the tzatziki. Still tasted great!
That’s awesome! Sometimes you gotta make it your own way. Yogurt or not, looks delicious!
6-8 minutes per side might be too long depending on thickness. Mine was thin and it overcooked fast—pay attention to the actual meat.
I followed it pretty much exactly and it tasted like my favorite gyro place, but fresher. The rest time really helps the chicken slice clean.
Can I use chicken thighs instead? That’s all I got!
Not sure about the seasoning… the chicken tasted too bland for me.
Maybe try marinating the chicken longer? I found it really flavorful when I let it sit overnight.
Looks good, but I dunno about the whole yogurt thing… Not a fan of dairy. Can I skip it? 🤷♂️
Not bad, but the chicken didn’t come out as moist as I hoped. Maybe I overcooked it?
I mean, it is chicken in a pita with some stuff…how hard can it be?
Made this for dinner and everyone went back for seconds. Pita was the perfect vehicle—wouldn’t change much.
Made this too—agreed on the pita being perfect. I did let the chicken marinate overnight and it came out juicy and flavorful. Next time I’ll maybe add a little extra lemon to the tzatziki but overall so good.
Not gonna lie, I’m suspicious of “perfect vehicle” 😂 My first batch was a little dry (think I grilled too long). But when I shortened it and rested the chicken longer, it got way better. Still a solid gyro idea!
My husband thought it was too much garlic. He’s a picky eater tho.
Garlic does add a strong flavor, but maybe just use less next time! My fam loves it, tho.
Made these for dinner last night and wow—marinade was super flavorful. I grilled it a little longer to be safe and the chicken stayed juicy. Tzatziki hit the spot.
Yes!! That tzatziki combo is unreal—fresh and tangy. I marinated overnight and it tasted like a legit gyro shop. Definitely making again.
I’m glad yours stayed juicy—mine was kinda dry after grilling too long 😭 I think my grill runs hot. Any tips on timing? Still tasted great though.
Not sure about the 1/4 cup dill—seemed like a lot, and my sauce turned kinda green-bomb-ish (in a good way?). The kids didn’t love it but I did.
I kinda messed up the steps—forgot to remove the chicken from the marinade 😅 but it still tasted fine. Would probably be better following directions.
Too much lemon! I only put a little and it was still strong. Next time maybe none.
These turned out insanely juicy. The 1 hour minimum definitely helped—next time I’ll do overnight like the recipe says.
I tried making this, but the chicken was dry. Maybe I overcooked it? Not sure what I did wrong.
It happens! If the chicken is overcooked, it can dry out. Maybe try using a meat thermometer next time to check for doneness!
Delicious! The tzatziki is a game changer! 🌟
Great recipe but I think pitas should be warmed more. Mine were cold! Never cold gyros!
Hmmm.. I don’t think it matters that much, I mean they’re still pitas. But if you like them warm, just put them in the oven or something.
I agree with you! Warm pitas are a must for gyros. Cold ones just don’t hit right. Maybe try wrapping them in foil and then warming them on the grill next time?
Is this truly Greek? I thought gyros had lamb. Whatevs, still good tho.
Actually, gyros can be made with chicken too! Don’t worry, it’s still delicious 😊.
Well, if you call it gyro, then it should be lamb, right? I dunno, but I prefer lamb myself.
I didn’t have Greek seasoning, so I used oregano/cumin mix. It was still good, just not super “Greek.” Still worth repeating.
I followed the steps and it was tasty, but my tzatziki turned out kinda runny. I think my yogurt was lower fat? Still ate it all though 😅
Quick and easy to make! The tzatziki was the best part! A little too much garlic for my taste tho.
The directions are clear and the cook time worked great. My tzatziki tasted fresh and not too sour. Will make again!
Love hearing that! Fresh tzatziki is the best—glad it wasn’t too sour. I’m definitely making these again too.
I tried this, but my chicken turned out really dry. I’m not sure what I did wrong. 😔
Tried this last night—super flavorful. The yogurt + dill combo is legit. I let mine marinate overnight and it was the best decision.
Yes!! The dill + yogurt really makes it taste restaurant-level. I’m adding an overnight marinate next time for sure.
This might be the easiest recipe I’ve ever followed. Thanks!
My grill was acting up, so I ended up finishing the chicken in the oven. Still turned out good—pita got toasty too.
Tzatziki without cucumber is kinda weird to me. Still good though—just not “authentic” authentic. 😅
No cucumber? then it’s not tzatziki lol. I’d call it herby yogurt sauce. That said, for gyros it might still taste good. Next time I’m adding cucumber and a little garlic.
I get what you mean about cucumber—traditional tzatziki vibe. But honestly dill + lemon + yogurt still hits the fresh/garlicy note. On a busy weeknight, this is totally “close enough” for me 😄
Where’s the feta cheese? Shouldn’t it be there? I’m confused.
GREEK FOOD IS MY FAVORITE!!! Best gyros recipe ever!!
My mom made this exact dish and I thought it was just as good! Thanks for sharing!
Easy to make, but I burnt the chicken. Grill times should be clearer.
Pretty good, but my chicken took closer to 10 minutes per side on my grill. Also I used dried dill by accident and it felt a little less fresh.
I think 6-8 minutes is kinda optimistic depending on thickness 😅. Also dried dill… yeah, that’ll do it. Next time try half the amount of dried dill and add a tiny pinch of lemon zest maybe.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve found grill temps vary a lot—10 min/side sounds totally plausible. I’m curious, did you keep it on medium-high the whole time or dial it up/down?
Yum! Going to make these for the kids! Hope they like it as much as I do. Fingers crossed! 🤞
Super easy to follow! I had to improvise with spaghetti because I didn’t have pita. Oops!
Not bad at all! I was skeptical about the yogurt marinade but it turned out tender. Only change I’d make next time is adding a little extra lemon and pepper.
It was okay, but I didn’t find it as Greek as I expected. Could use more seasoning.
What do you mean, not Greek? You gotta be kidding! This is legit!
I think it tasted fine! Maybe add more oregano next time?
Tzatziki was too sour! I added sugar. Not sure if that’s right but it helped.
Why do they say 6–8 minutes per side? My chicken breasts were thick and it took like 12 minutes each. Not a dealbreaker, just something to note.
These gyros were seriously spot on—juicy chicken and that tzatziki is so fresh. I marinated overnight and it made a big difference. Will make again!
Wow, the marinade sounds legit—Greek seasoning + yogurt is such a good combo. I’m definitely making this for dinner this week.
Greek yogurt + dill + lemon is a good combo. I’d add a little cucumber next time for classic tzatziki vibes. Otherwise, pretty good gyro situation.
Totally agree—dill + lemon in the yogurt is the real tzatziki energy. Cucumber next time will take it over the top 👌
Yo this is 🔥. I ate 2 and felt like a champion. My grill skills are average but it still worked.
Pretty solid recipe, but 6-8 minutes per side depends a lot on grill temp and thickness. Mine needed closer to 8-10, still turned out great though.
Totally agree—grill temp swings are real. I’ve had “medium-high” be anywhere from perfect to basically a broiler, so timing changes a lot.
Good point… mine was thicker too and I panicked at 6 min/side 😂 ended up at like 9 min and it was juuuust right. Nice save!
Why do you need to marinate it for so long? I just cooked it right away and it was fine! 🤷♂️
Quick and easy! My kids loved it, although they picked out the onions, lol.
What temperature is “medium-high” on your grill? Mine burns fast… also my pita tore lol. Could be great but I need clearer stuff.
Garlic in the marinade + lemon in the sauce is a nice balance. I added a squeeze of extra lemon at the end and it brightened everything.
Absolutely delicious! The marinade made the chicken so flavorful. My family loved it!
I’m glad you loved it! I tried it too, but mine turned out a bit dry. Any tips to keep the chicken juicier?
Not bad, but 6-8 minutes per side was a bit optimistic for my grill thickness. I ended up cooking closer to 10 minutes total before it was done.
Tzatziki sauce is the best! I could eat it with everything! 😋
Isn’t it just yogurt with cucumber? Why’s it so hyped? I dunno if I’d eat it with everything, but to each their own.
Totally agree! Tzatziki makes even plain things taste amazing. Can’t wait to try it with gyros! 😍
Why warm the pita on the grill? Mine got too toasted and dry. Maybe stovetop is better—otherwise flavor was great.
So good! But why do people say Greek is just yogurt? There’s more to it, right? 🤔
Not sure about the “medium-high” grill part—burnt my first batch. Maybe my grill runs hot. Once I lowered it, it worked.
I don’t know about this, garlic on chicken? Sounds weird. My family didn’t like it.
The tzatziki was the star. Next time I’ll add a little extra lemon and maybe more dill because we like it punchy.
Wow—this tastes exactly like the gyro spot near me. The yogurt + dill combo is spot on, and grilling the chicken gives it that real char. Will make again!
Simple and delish! Had to use regular yogurt since I was out of Greek, but still turned out great!
Not sure about using a full 1/4 cup dill—mine tasted a bit strong. Could be just my dill though. Otherwise solid recipe.
Huh, I actually love dill, so 1/4 cup works great for me. If yours was too strong, maybe your dill was extra fresh/strong? Or chopping it finer made it more noticeable.
Good call—dill can definitely be potent. I usually start with 1–2 tbsp and taste the tzatziki as I go. Greek seasoning can be strong too.
Honestly this tastes like something from a real gyro spot. My whole family asked for seconds, and the tzatziki was gone first.
Greek seasoning blend is doing the heavy lifting here. Wish the recipe listed options (like which exact brand or mix).
I was skeptical about grilling 4 breasts that fast, but 6-8 min per side worked for me. Tzatziki is super fresh.
The marinade is simple and tastes like those gyro places. I added a little extra lemon and salt and it’s even better.
Made this for dinner tonight—so flavorful! The marinade really sticks to the chicken, and the dill yogurt sauce is *chef’s kiss*. Will absolutely do again.
I don’t even like yogurt sauces… but this one surprised me. The lemon cuts it and the dill makes it fresh. I’ll do this again.
I’m skeptical but I’ll give it a shot. How thick is the sauce supposed to be? Also, do you whisk the yogurt first or just dump in the dill and lemon? My last tzatziki got watery 😅
Honestly same—I usually avoid yogurt sauces. But the lemon + dill combo really does make it feel bright instead of tangy in a weird way. Going to try it again this week!
Tzatziki tasted kinda sour to me (maybe my lemons were strong?). I added a pinch of sugar and it got much better.
1 hour refrigeration minimum is real—mine sat overnight and was super good. This is better than takeout, for sure.
My family loved it. The tzatziki sauce actually tasted like the gyro places, not watery like some recipes.
Yes!! I love when the tzatziki actually tastes like the gyro shops. Mine always ends up watery unless I do it a certain way—so this sounds perfect.
Solid recipe, but my grill time ran a little longer (closer to 8-10 min/side). Still turned out great. Maybe my chicken was thicker. Love the tzatziki with dill.
Idk… “juices run clear” on chicken is kinda vague. Also my pita started burning fast when I warmed it. Still tasted decent but I’m not 100% sold.
Totally fair—“juices run clear” is super vague. I usually go by internal temp instead (165°F / 74°C) and it’s way less stressful.
Greek seasoning blend is doing a LOT of work here. If you don’t like that flavor, don’t bother. Otherwise 10/10.
I’m skeptical of any recipe that says “just toss and grill” like it’s guaranteed. But honestly, the marinade made it easy and the chicken was tender.
I was skeptical too, but 6-8 min per side depends on thickness—mine needed like 2 min more. Still turned out great and the tzatziki was spot on.
Yeah “just toss and grill” always sounds too easy 😅 but the marinade + rest time seems to actually do the work. Tender chicken checks out.
Greek yogurt sauce + dill? Sounds like a science project 😅. I tried it anyway and it was decent, but I’d never call it “gyros” without that extra spicy stuff.
Pita went hard on one side because I warmed it too long. Sauce + toppings saved it. Still a keeper recipe.
I was skeptical about 1 hour vs overnight, but overnight was worth it. Juicy chicken, and the tzatziki tasted fresh, not sour or weird. Great balance.
I think I overcooked it because I went longer than 8 minutes per side. It was a little dry, but the sandwich fix helped.
Dry chicken is the worst 😭 but you’re right, the tzatziki can save it. Mine sometimes takes closer to 7-8 minutes total, not per side. Did you pound the chicken to even thickness?
Totally get it—8 minutes per side is a pretty tight window depending on thickness. If it got dry, next time try pulling it as soon as it hits ~165°F and let it rest longer (like 5-10 min). Glad the fix helped though!
My garlic burned a bit on the grill—maybe because I didn’t wipe off enough marinade. Flavor was still great though.
Tried this last night—so flavorful. The garlic + Greek seasoning with the yogurt really nails that gyro vibe. I let it marinate overnight and it was juicy.
Made these last night—so flavorful! The yogurt + dill combo is legit. I grilled a bit longer on my side and they came out juicy.
Yes!! I love that yogurt + dill combo—makes the chicken taste restaurant-level. I’m gonna try grilling a tad longer like you did for extra juiciness.
The instructions are clear, but “until juices run clear” always makes me guessy. I used a thermometer (165F) and it worked perfectly.
I don’t trust yogurt on chicken—seems like it would burn on the grill. But surprisingly it was fine. I did shake off excess marinade though.
Greek seasoning blend can mean like 10 different things—mine was spicy and it overpowered the chicken a little. Next time I’ll use a milder mix.
The flavors are there, but I think 1/4 cup olive oil might be a bit much for 4 breasts—mine seemed oily on the grill. I’d cut it slightly next time.
I was skeptical about 1 hour since I usually marinate overnight, but it still came out great. Next time I’ll do overnight just to see the difference.
Honestly this makes me feel better—I’m usually an overnight person too. 1 hour sounds risky but if yours was still great I’ll try it next time. Love the gyro vibe!
I didn’t have Greek seasoning so I used what I had (oregano, cumin, a pinch of cinnamon… yeah). Still came out good, but it wasn’t exactly Greek vibes.
Honestly that sounds totally plausible—oregano + cumin + a little cinnamon can still taste great. I get why it wouldn’t scream “Greek,” though. How close did it end up flavor-wise?
My kids wouldn’t eat the onion, so I left that off and it was still great. Next time I’ll do less lemon in the sauce because it was kinda tangy.
Good to know! My family is the same with onions—glad it still worked without them. And yeah, 1 tbsp lemon juice can go from bright to kinda “pucker” fast. Next time I’ll start with less.
The flavor is good, but my chicken took closer to 10 min per side (grill runs hot). Also I forgot to rest it and it kinda bled juices—still tasty though.
