Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole

July 29, 2024

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole is the kind of dish that brings everyone to the table. It takes two of the most loved American comfort foods and blends them into a warm, bubbly, cheesy bake that’s as easy to serve as it is to devour. If you’re looking for a dinner idea that satisfies cravings and keeps cleanup to a minimum, this casserole delivers big flavor with minimal effort.

At the heart of the dish is well-seasoned ground beef, cooked with onions and garlic for a flavor base that echoes a classic cheeseburger. A bit of ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce gives the beef mixture that familiar tangy richness you’d expect from a burger fresh off the grill. This layer goes into a baking dish and gets topped with shredded cheese, usually cheddar, for that gooey, melty goodness everyone loves.

But the real twist comes on top. Instead of sandwich buns or a crust, frozen French fries are spread across the casserole in a generous layer. As the dish bakes, the fries turn golden and crisp, soaking up some of the flavor from the beef and cheese beneath. It’s a fun, unexpected topping that makes every bite a little more exciting.

One of the best parts of this casserole is how easy it is to customize. Add pickles, diced tomatoes, or cooked bacon to the beef layer to switch things up. Use pepper jack cheese for a bit of heat, or mix in some sautéed mushrooms for an earthy twist. Once baked, serve it with a simple salad or even extra burger toppings like chopped lettuce and sliced red onion to round out the meal.

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole is a true comfort dish. It’s filling, family-friendly, and packed with familiar flavors that make it feel like home. Whether you’re feeding a crowd or just want leftovers that actually get eaten, this dish is a guaranteed hit.

  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp mustard

My oven runs hot—if yours does too, start checking at 25 minutes. I’ve burned fries before and it’s not a fun surprise.

    1. User avatar valentina.rath32 says:

      5 stars
Good tip! My oven runs hotter too, so 25 minutes might save it from getting too crispy. Appreciate the heads up 🙌

    2. User avatar fred.parisian says:

      3 stars
Wait, start checking at 25? That feels early since it says 30-40. I usually just trust the timer and hope for the best 😅 But I guess ovens vary.

  2. User avatar manuel.ankunding says:

    4 stars
The Worcestershire “4 shakes” is not specific lol. I used like a lot more because I’m impatient. It was still good though—just a little tangier than expected.

  3. User avatar Gerardo Hand says:

I tried this and it came out okay but a bit greasy—maybe I didn’t drain enough. Next time I might use leaner beef or blot the fat more.

    1. User avatar terra.swift56 says:

      5 stars
Yeah that makes sense—3 lbs of beef + mayo/eggs can get greasy if the fat doesn’t really come out. Next time I’d definitely drain well (and maybe blot with paper towels too). Using leaner beef is also a solid fix.

  4. User avatar connie.pouros1972 says:

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about putting hotdog buns in the bottom… but it actually worked. Mine came out a little salty though—maybe I used too much steak seasoning. Still super tasty.

    1. 5 stars
I’m with you—I always think “why are buns in the bottom?” 😅 But they soak up the drippings so it actually makes sense. For the salt though, maybe cut back the steak seasoning or use a less salty blend next time.

  5. User avatar valrie.kub25 says:

    5 stars
This is such a fun “cheeseburger night” casserole. The hotdog buns on the bottom are genius—everything soaks together and tastes like a legit burger with a crusty vibe. I used extra mustard and it still worked great.

  6. User avatar Majin Vegeta says:

    5 stars
My family went back for seconds without complaining (rare!). I used sharper cheddar and it melted beautifully. Letting it sit 10 minutes helped a ton—otherwise it was kinda messy.

  7. User avatar Rito Chieftain says:

    3 stars
This is a great idea but I’m wondering about the texture. With the fries on top and only 30-40 minutes, do they stay crisp or go soft? Mine got more like “baked potato” vibes instead of crunchy fries.

  8. User avatar orval.wunsch70 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about the ratio of cheese to everything else. 16 oz is a lot (in a good way), but with the fries on top it might get greasy. Anyone tried with less cheese?

    1. User avatar rich.landlord says:

      5 stars
I’ve made this—16 oz cheese doesn’t make it “greasy” for me, it mostly melts into the egg/meat. The fries are the real factor; I’d just make sure they’re not drowned in fat after browning the beef (drain well).

    2. 4 stars
Try 8 oz cheese if you want it less heavy. Still tastes cheeseburger-y because the mayo/eggs do a lot. I think 16 oz is more of a “comfort” version.

  9. User avatar roy.feest2007 says:

    3 stars
The recipe says “4 shakes Worcestershire sauce”—how many is that like 4 teaspoons? I never know with those bottles lol.

    1. User avatar chadwick.reichel40 says:

      2 stars
I thought Worcestershire was super strong, so I’d say 4 shakes = like 4 tablespoons? Lol jk—more like 1 teaspoon. I just pour until it looks right.

    2. User avatar evelina.mckenzie says:

      4 stars
I usually do 4 “shakes” as ~1 tsp total, give or take. Those bottles vary a lot though—if it smells/looks like Worcestershire, you’re probably in the ballpark.

  10. 4 stars
Who thought hotdog buns would be the bottom? I used hamburger buns instead! Still good tho.

  11. User avatar pasty.halvorson46 says:

    3 stars
Followed the recipe to a T, but it came out kinda greasy. Maybe drain more beef next time?

    1. User avatar jasmine.gutkowski69 says:

      4 stars
Yeah, draining the beef is key! Sometimes it can get too greasy if you don’t. Good luck next time!

  12. 5 stars
I love the flavor combo: onion + garlic in the beef, then mayo/mustard/worcestershire in the egg layer. That’s burger sauce vibes.

    1. User avatar carole.bogan says:

      5 stars
Totally! The onion/garlic into the beef and then that mayo + mustard + Worcestershire egg layer is exactly what I think of as “burger sauce” energy. 🔥

  13. 5 stars
This is such a fun “cheeseburger night” twist—hot dog buns on the bottom is genius. I’d probably add pickles or pickle relish too, but overall looks super comforting.

  14. User avatar Draugr Wight says:

    3 stars
Wasnt bad, but I think it could use some more seasoning. Ketchup on top help tho! Lol.

  15. User avatar kathi.okeefe71 says:

    2 stars
I dunno, mayonnaise in a casserole? Sounds weird to me. 🤔

  16. User avatar corazon.emard says:

    2 stars
Meh, tasted alright. Not my favorite. Think I’ll stick to regular burgers next time.

  17. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

    4 stars
I followed the recipe pretty closely and the flavor was good, but I think my dish was too deep because it took closer to 50 minutes for the fries to brown. After that, it was solid.

    1. User avatar augustine.hermann80 says:

      4 stars
Good to know! I think your bake time might be longer depending on how deep your dish is. Did you use a glass vs metal pan?

    2. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      4 stars
50 minutes?? mine never takes that long lol. Maybe your oven runs cool or the fries were piled too thick. Still glad it turned out solid!

  18. User avatar teodoro.wyman8 says:

    5 stars
Yummy! I added pickles on top for extra flavor. 😋

    1. User avatar violette.ohara says:

      3 stars
Pickles? Really? That sounds kinda weird but you do you! 🤷‍♂️

    2. User avatar Jonathan Howell MD says:

      5 stars
Haha, sounds delicious! I’ve never thought of adding pickles, but I’m curious to try it now! 😋

  19. User avatar ione.fisher1980 says:

Made this last night—so comforting. The buns as a base are genius, and the egg/mayo layer makes it sliceable. I used extra mustard and it still worked!

    1. User avatar cameron.wyman says:

      3 stars
Interesting… I’m not sure about the mayo + egg layer though. Did it taste like cheeseburgers or more like a weird egg quiche thing? Also when you say 3 lbs beef, is that before or after draining?

    2. User avatar Corrupted Shade says:

      5 stars
Yes!! I love when it comes out sliceable like a real casserole. The hot dog buns base is such a smart move—adds that little buttery/crust thing. 😄

  20. User avatar loralee.glover says:

    3 stars
Gonna try it with turkey instead of beef. Healthier, right? But I hope it taste OK…

    1. 5 stars
I think turkey will work just fine! Just make sure not to overcook it, or it can get dry. Good luck!

    2. User avatar Arthur Dent says:

      3 stars
Healthier? Maybe, but taste is what matters! Hope it turns out well for ya!

  21. 3 stars
Okay, I love casseroles, but 3 eggs + 1/2 cup mayo feels like a lot. I’m sure it tastes good, I just worry it’ll be heavy. Maybe next time I’ll use less mayo and see.

    1. User avatar shanelle.price1961 says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—mayo can make things feel rich. But with the eggs + baking + all that cheese/meat, it usually ends up more “set” than heavy. I’d try your idea: cut the mayo to 1/4 cup and add a splash of something like milk if it seems dry.

  22. User avatar zulema.christiansen2026 says:

    4 stars
Okay but why hotdog buns on the bottom? I tried something similar once and it was kinda weird at first but then it turned out awesome. I’m curious how it soaks up the egg + beef.

  23. User avatar sam.heaney53 says:

    2 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical about the hotdog buns. Like… are they gonna get soggy? If they do, the whole thing might be meh.

    1. User avatar milan.rempel32 says:

      4 stars
I get why you’re skeptical—hotdog buns can go mushy. But since they’re only on the bottom and baked with beef + eggs + fries moisture, they usually soften into the “binder” texture. Should still taste good if you let it sit 10 min.

  24. 2 stars
Eh, I’ve had better. The Worcestershire + mustard combo is interesting but it tasted kinda “tangy burger sauce” to me and I wasn’t feeling it. Also the buns got a bit doughy. Won’t make again.

  25. User avatar vincent.fisher1974 says:

    4 stars
Didn’t have crinkle fries, used tater tots instead and it was sooo good! This recipe is flexible!

    1. User avatar kristin.stiedemann says:

      5 stars
That sounds awesome! Tater tots are a great substitute. I gotta try that soon!

  26. User avatar garth.kuhlman51 says:

    3 stars
Had to give this a shot… hope it’s not too greasy. Cooking for my family this weekend.

  27. User avatar chang.spinka says:

    5 stars
Worcestershire in an egg/mayo mix is genius. I can already smell it baking. Also 30–40 min feels right for fries browning.

  28. 4 stars
This is really easy to make! I used tater tots instead of fries, and it worked great!

  29. User avatar caridad.schoen12 says:

    2 stars
Why are we using crinkle fries instead of potatoes?? I get it’s convenient but the oven is gonna dry them out. Also, hotdog buns??? I’m skeptical but curious.

  30. User avatar Ilban Richese says:

    4 stars
Really easy to make! I used frozen fries, and it turned out great. Perfect comfort food for a chilly evening!

    1. User avatar rodrigo.lueilwitz says:

      5 stars
Sounds delicious! I love using frozen fries too. Makes it so much easier!

  31. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    4 stars
I usually don’t like casseroles, but this was different! It was comforting. 👌

    1. 2 stars
I can’t believe you liked it. Casseroles are just soggy bread to me. 😝

    2. User avatar Android 18 says:

      5 stars
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I was a bit skeptical at first too because casseroles can be hit or miss, but this sounds yummy!

  32. User avatar colin.kilback68 says:

    5 stars
Can confirm crinkle fries on top stay crunchier than I expected in casseroles. This one looks like it’ll hit that cheeseburger-and-fries craving hard.

    1. User avatar marica.wisozk59 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Crinkle fries really do hold up better than regular fries in casseroles—love that you’re getting that crunch. I can totally picture the cheeseburger vibes.

  33. User avatar clifford.okeefe92 says:

    5 stars
If you want a cheeseburger night without cooking a whole meal plan, this does it. My only change: I added pickles and a little ketchup drizzle like a sloppy burger and it was chef’s kiss.

    1. User avatar monty.huels68 says:

      3 stars
Pickles and ketchup is cool but I’m curious—do the fries get soggy with all that egg/mayo? Might try it with a lighter drizzle next time.

    2. User avatar jay.howell87 says:

      5 stars
Omg this sounds dangerously easy 😍 The mayo/egg topping is genius. I’m stealing the pickles idea for sure!

  34. User avatar leonora.bednar37 says:

    5 stars
5 stars! kids cleaned their plates! Even my picky eater liked it! ❤️

  35. User avatar kermit.emard says:

    4 stars
I substituted ground turkey and it turned out great. Very healthy version!

  36. 5 stars
Made it last week and the casserole was a hit. The fries get all crispy-ish on top and the egg/mayo mixture makes it creamy like a binder. Would definitely make again.

  37. User avatar shawna.pagac says:

    4 stars
I like it but I think 30-40 minutes might be a little short depending on your oven. Mine needed closer to 45 to brown the fries properly. Still tasty though!

  38. User avatar Eccentrica Gallumbits says:

    3 stars
Can you use normal buns instead? Hotdog buns seem weird. Also, what’s Worcestershire sauce again?

  39. User avatar jamaal.shields2000 says:

    2 stars
Why mayonnaise?? I get it’s probably to bind the eggs, but I’m scared it’ll taste like salad.

    1. User avatar holley.lind58 says:

      2 stars
Wait… is it like salad-mayo? 😅 I’m not a mayo fan either. Might try less next time? Also I feel like it’ll taste eggy. Anyone else?

    2. User avatar Joanna Hand says:

      4 stars
I get why you’d be skeptical, but the mayo turns into a creamy binder once it bakes—more like cheeseburger “cheesy egg” sauce than salad vibes. The Worcestershire + mustard help too.

  40. User avatar jose.hegmann92 says:

    3 stars
350°F for 30–40 min feels short for 3 lbs of meat situation. Also those fries might go soggy instead of browned unless you use the right type.

  41. User avatar dirk.kemmer1959 says:

    5 stars
This is such a genius lazy dinner idea—hotdog buns as the base is wild (in a good way). I bet it gets all chewy and cheesy underneath. Definitely trying!

  42. 4 stars
My oven runs hot and 350°F usually browns too fast for me, so I’d check at 25 min. Otherwise the fries may burn.

  43. 2 stars
    2 words: too cheesy. 😂

  44. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    5 stars
Just made this for dinner, and it was a hit with the kids! Super easy too!

  45. User avatar Mr. Edison Christiansen says:

    3 stars
Cooked it and it was okay, but my fries didn’t brown like the recipe says. I had to bake closer to 50 minutes and it was still a little pale. Flavor was solid, texture was just off.

  46. User avatar racheal.boehm says:

    3 stars
Not sure about 3 eggs and 1/2 cup mayo together… feels like it could get too rich or eggy. Anyone else taste-test this before committing to a full casserole?

  47. User avatar Su Shenlong says:

    5 stars
The flavor is actually pretty great. I added pickles on top when serving and it tasted like a real cheeseburger. The prep was easy too.

  48. 5 stars
Easiest dinner ever. So good 😋

  49. User avatar stacy.kuhlman56 says:

Cheeseburger fries?? This sounds like heaven on a plate! Gonna try this ASAP! 🍔🍟

  51. User avatar Kirby Morissette says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the hotdog buns part… I get the idea, but I worry they’ll turn soggy under the beef/eggs. Anyone try it and have success?

  52. User avatar trenton.miller83 says:

    1 star
This seems to easy. Is it actually good? 🤷‍♂️

    1. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    2. User avatar cornell.rutherford says:

I’m skeptical. Casseroles usually need time and patience. Mayonnaise with beef? Sounds off.

  53. User avatar abbey.bartell76 says:

    3 stars
I made something similar once and the fries got soggy. What prevents that here—like does it brown enough reliably in 30-40 min? Still, the recipe seems easy.

  54. User avatar manuel.lehner says:

    3 stars
What are crinkle fries? Do I have to look for special fries for this?

  55. User avatar marhta.reichert2019 says:

  56. User avatar Colin the Security Robot says:

I’m skeptical about fries on top. They got crispy, yes, but also a bit greasy. Still tastes like a cheeseburger, though, so I can’t complain.

  59. User avatar lucas.dubuque1954 says:

Cheeseburger casserole is my love language. The mayo/egg mixture sounds rich in the best way. I’d add pickles on top though—just for science.

  60. 5 stars
This is my kind of comfort food! Love it! Home run!

  61. User avatar karoline.hodkiewicz says:

    4 stars
Tried it and it came out really solid, but I think 30–40 minutes is a little short depending on how packed the fries are. Next time I’ll bake closer to 45 and maybe cover with foil halfway so the cheese doesn’t brown too hard.

  62. User avatar soraya.herzog93 says:

    4 stars
This is one of those ‘everything in the pan’ recipes and I love it. My kid devoured it. I used cheddar and it melted like it should.

  63. User avatar Shannon Kessler says:

This sounds like my kind of comfort food. The hotdog buns on the bottom?? Genius chaos. I’m trying it exactly once though because I don’t wanna accidentally summon a casserole that feeds the whole neighborhood.

  64. User avatar Darrell B. Moore says:

    4 stars
Delicious! I added some jalapeños for a kick, turned out great!

  66. User avatar scottie.bradtke10 says:

    4 stars
buns on the bottom? that’s so weird but also i’m curious. i might add pickles too because i can’t help myself

  67. 3 stars
I’m not a fan of the mayonnaise mixed in. It kinda ruined it for me, but my kids loved it.

  68. 4 stars
One thing: 1 bag fries is usually 32 oz, so if you use a big bag, you’re changing the whole ratio. I followed the “16 oz” and it worked—just sayin’ for anyone shopping.

    1. User avatar shad.ohara1984 says:

      5 stars
Good catch! I always forget fry bags vary by brand. If someone uses a bigger bag, they’ll definitely need to adjust the rest or it’ll get too fry-heavy.

  69. User avatar mckenzie.stiedemann says:

    1 star
I mean, what’s the point of this? Casserole should be casserole, not some weird mix of everything. No thanks.

  70. 4 stars
The hotdog buns layer is genius… until you realize it can get a little soggy. Mine held up, but I think I needed to drain the beef more aggressively.

  71. User avatar betsy.okon90 says:

    2 stars
Casserole with hotdog buns? That’s kinda weird. Seems like it might taste off.

    1. User avatar kym.larson64 says:

      2 stars
I dunno about that. I’ve only ever used bread or tortillas for casseroles. Hotdog buns seem like a whole different thing. Just sounds odd.

    2. User avatar Draugr Thrall says:

      5 stars
I know it sounds strange, but trust me! It actually tastes amazing! The hotdog buns soak up all the flavors. Give it a try!

  72. User avatar mei.bogisich67 says:

    5 stars
Yum! Easy dinner. My kids devoured it. 😄

  73. User avatar bobbie.brakus38 says:

  74. User avatar myron.hermiston52 says:

    4 stars
I made something similar but skipped the buns. Yours has way more going on though—may try it exactly once just for the novelty.

    1. 5 stars
That sounds like the perfect “cheeseburger night” hack 😄 Skipping the buns is totally understandable—still has the fries + cheese goodness. Let me know how it turns out if you do it once exactly as written!

  75. 5 stars
This looks like the ultimate comfort-food hack. Fries + cheeseburger in one casserole? I’m in. Going to try it exactly as written.

  76. User avatar roseanne.leuschke40 says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I don’t love Worcestershire in everything, but 4 shakes isn’t that bad. If my roommates complain, I’ll blame you 😅

  77. 4 stars
Could I use ground turkey instead of beef? I feel like the bake time might need adjusting but the concept should still work.

    1. User avatar fermin.dubuque66 says:

      4 stars
Maybe? Ground turkey can get dry though. I’d add a little extra Worcestershire or even a splash of water if it looks dry. Also, 30-40 min might not brown the fries right away—could need longer till the cheese bubbles.

    2. 5 stars
Yes, ground turkey should work! Just watch it a bit—turkey usually releases less fat, so you might not need to drain as much. You may need a few extra minutes if it’s coming out wetter, but the 30–40 min bake time should be a decent starting point.

  78. User avatar rufina.dickinson says:

    4 stars
Delicious! But I think this is not a casserole…? More like a messy burger bake.

    1. 4 stars
I totally get what you’re saying! It’s more like a cheesy beef pile than a casserole. But it’s sooo good!

    2. 5 stars
Nah, I think it’s definitely a casserole. Just ’cause it’s a little messy doesn’t mean it’s not. Don’t knock it till you try it!

I’m not a fan of hotdog buns but I used regular bread and it was still decent!

    1. User avatar justina.mraz says:

      5 stars
I actually think it sounds better with regular bread! Hotdog buns can be a bit too soft sometimes. Glad it worked out for you!

My family loved it. Even my picky eater went back for seconds. I followed it pretty much exactly, only used sharp cheddar. Yum.

  81. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

    3 stars
Wait—crinkle fries on top? I worry they’ll get soggy instead of crispy. Maybe bake on a higher rack?

  82. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    5 stars. Period.

  83. 5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. The hot dog buns base is genius—like a casserole version of a guilty pleasure burger.

  84. 5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about hotdog buns in a casserole, but they soak up the beef and eggs perfectly. Fries on top stayed crunchy-ish too. Will repeat.

  85. User avatar Inga Beatty says:

    2 stars
Honestly, this is too many components—beef, eggs, cheese, fries, buns. But I guess that’s why it tastes like comfort food.

    1. User avatar moriah.wolf2002 says:

      5 stars
I get what you mean—so many layers—but that’s also why it hits. It’s like a loaded cheeseburger with fries all in one dish.

  86. 5 stars
The mayo + eggs sauce is the part I’m most excited about. That’s how you get it to hold together like a real casserole.

  87. User avatar williemae.bogisich2022 says:

    4 stars
I made something similar but skipped the buns—big mistake. The buns actually help everything hold together. Loved the egg + mayo sauce vibe too. 10/10 for an easy weeknight bake.

  88. User avatar Super Saiyan Goten says:

I don’t get why you would use hotdog buns??? It sounds weird. Might try it with regular buns instead. 🤔

    1. 4 stars
Using hotdog buns is actually pretty smart! They soak up the flavors and are an easy base. Give it a try before you knock it! 😄

  89. User avatar russ.tromp91 says:

My oven runs hot, so I’d probably check at 25 minutes. Also I might use cheddar instead of whatever shredded cheese—just sayin’.

  90. User avatar lucinda.ohara says:

    2 stars
Y’all this is just lazy cooking. Can’t believe people are actually making this.

  91. User avatar florencio.hauck says:

    3 stars
I made something similar but didn’t use the egg/mayo mix like this. The cook time worries me though—30-40 mins seems short for getting everything set with that many eggs.

  92. 3 stars
Not sure about the hotdog buns on the bottom… like, won’t they get soggy? Might still taste good but texture could be weird.

  93. User avatar shenika.hickle0 says:

    5 stars
    Looks good. Five stars.

    1. 5 stars
Right? It sounds hearty and way easier than doing it all separately.

  94. User avatar forest.heller94 says:

This was amazing! Never thought I’d like hotdog buns in a casserole. It was a hit with the whole family. Will make again!

    1. User avatar sherilyn.swift52 says:

I’m so glad to hear you loved it! Hotdog buns in a casserole? Genius! Will have to try it myself.

    2. User avatar kevin.greenholt says:

      2 stars
Really? Hotdog buns? Sounds kinda weird to me. Not sure if I would like that combo…

  95. 3 stars
I made this but used ketchup instead of mustard (don’t ask). It was still pretty good, but the Worcestershire flavor got lost a bit. I think I’ll follow your steps next time.

    1. User avatar Barliman Butterbur says:

      5 stars
Lol I won’t ask 😄 Ketchup probably changes the whole tang though—Worcestershire is pretty specific. Next time mustard + those Worcestershire shakes should bring it back. Glad it was still good!

  96. User avatar milo.okeefe says:

    3 stars
I tried this and it was… okay. The flavor was good but mine came out kinda greasy even after draining. Maybe I should’ve drained longer.

  97. User avatar basementDweller says:

    4 stars
The Worcestershire only says “4 shakes” like that’s a measurable unit 😂 I did about a teaspoon and it came out great. Next time I’ll add pickles too. Classic cheeseburger energy.

  98. User avatar cara.franecki21 says:

Tried this last night and my family was *so* into it. The hotdog buns trick is genius—keeps everything together and gives it that “real burger bun” vibe. Fries on top got perfectly browned in 35 min. 10/10 comfort food.

    1. 5 stars
Okay but the hotdog buns + fries combo is actually genius 😭 I’ve never thought to do that. Adding this to my rotation.

    2. User avatar salvatore.auer45 says:

      3 stars
Interesting… I’m always nervous about baking fries without them getting soggy. Did you keep them frozen? Also, “4 shakes” is so vague lol.

  99. User avatar gabriel.windler1962 says:

    4 stars
350°F for 30-40 mins might not be enough if the fries are thick. I baked closer to 55 mins and the top finally browned. Otherwise it was a little pale.

  100. User avatar Zaphod Beeblebrox says:

    4 stars
Okay so hot dog buns on the bottom?? I was skeptical, but I love how it probably soaks up all the flavors. Might swap to burger buns if I can’t find hot dog buns, but the rest looks solid.

  101. 5 stars
So good!!! I added some jalapeños for a kick. Spicy and cheesy – just my style!

    1. 5 stars
That sounds amazing! Jalapeños are the perfect way to spice things up. I’m definitely trying that next time!

    2. User avatar nellie.weber47 says:

      2 stars
Jalapeños? Really? I think that might be too much for a dish like this. Just stick to the cheese, it’s perfect as is!

  102. User avatar Elton Kshlerin says:

    2 stars
I’m skeptical about putting buns under beef and fries like that. Sounds like it’ll get soggy and weird… but honestly it smelled amazing while baking. I probably won’t make it again just because I’m not convinced, sorry.

  103. User avatar elliot.welch91 says:

    4 stars
The seasoning calls for steak seasoning “to taste” and honestly that’s where people can mess up. I’d go easy at first or it’ll be too salty. Still sounds tasty.

  104. User avatar Arlen Marquardt says:

    2 stars
Eh, casserole recipes always taste the same to me. Also “steak seasoning for hamburger” is vague—how much is enough? I used too much and it was kinda overpowering.

  105. 4 stars
I thought the buns might be too sweet, but cheeseburger flavors overpower it. Next time I’ll toast the buns first for less sog.

  106. User avatar werner.auer5 says:

    3 stars
The instructions are pretty clear, but I wish it said whether to bake uncovered. Fries can go from crispy to sad real fast depending on that.

  107. User avatar Gangplank says:

    4 stars
Ten minutes rest is real—if you slice too early it’ll fall apart like a backyard burger. Learned that the hard way lol.

    1. User avatar fabian.schneider says:

      5 stars
Yeah that 10 min rest is clutch—if you dig in early the whole thing acts like soup 😂. This casserole is basically forced “patience” lol.

  108. User avatar shellie.stanton63 says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid idea, but 3 lbs ground beef feels like a lot. I cut it in half for a smaller dish and it still worked. Next time I’ll add a little pepper and maybe some pickles on top.

  109. User avatar vanita.mertz says:

    3 stars
Why 3 eggs? Seems like a lot and mine felt eggy in the middle. It still tasted fine, but I’d reduce eggs or add more cheese next time.

  110. User avatar CTRLplusW says:

    3 stars
350°F for 30–40 mins feels short for 3 lbs of beef and a whole bag of fries. I’d probably extend it a bit to get everything set.

  111. 3 stars
I’m confused about the fries—are the crinkle fries frozen? I just assumed yes and tossed them right in, and they browned but didn’t get super crispy. Next time I’ll bake a touch longer.

  112. User avatar joe_banana says:

    2 stars
Looks good but 4 shakes Worcestershire is like… how many shakes is that? lol I always overdo it.

  113. User avatar mireille.wyman2022 says:

    5 stars
This sounds insanely comforting—like a cheeseburger crossed with a breakfast bake. I’m definitely doing the 10-minute rest; that’s usually the difference between sloppy and perfect.

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! The cheeseburger-meets-breakfast vibe is exactly what I want. I love that 10-minute rest too—letting it set makes it slice way cleaner. Gonna try this with extra Worcestershire for sure.

    2. 3 stars
10 minutes rest sounds nice, but I dunno… the crinkle fries might get soggy in 30-40 mins. I’d maybe add the fries halfway so they stay crispy? Also, why hotdog buns at the bottom—does that really work?

  114. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the mayonnaise + eggs sauce. It tasted okay, but the texture was a little “eggy” for my family. I might swap in sour cream or reduce the mayo next time.

  115. User avatar bridgette.bahringer1957 says:

    4 stars
I made something similar but used frozen onions and it turned out kinda watery—so I’m glad this one drains the fat. That step might be the whole difference.

    1. User avatar deangelo.jacobi says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Draining the fat is huge. I’ve had the watery thing happen with similar casseroles too—especially when the onion is frozen and dumps water. Your comment is basically the “science” of it. I’m trying this exactly as written next time.

  116. User avatar joaquin.schowalter1 says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty, but mine came out a bit greasy. I thought I drained the fat well—maybe I should blot the meat or use leaner ground beef. Still a win though.

  117. User avatar Shanda Lear says:

    5 stars
Family favorite. I added pickles on top at serving and it tasted like a real burger. The egg layer makes it super rich.

  118. User avatar jason.green2005 says:

    5 stars
This is the ultimate comfort food casserole. The egg + mayo sauce sounds weird on paper, but it kinda makes it taste like a thick, savory burger sauce. I’m definitely making this for game night.

    1. 5 stars
Game night winner 😄 That egg + mayo combo really does sound odd, but I’m intrigued—burger sauce vibes!

  119. 2 stars
Not gonna lie, this tasted kind of like “random fridge casserole.” I followed it exactly and the flavor was good, just not the best texture. The mayo egg layer didn’t set as much as I wanted.

  120. User avatar leandro.steuber69 says:

    4 stars
My family would eat this nonstop. I followed most of it, but I used 1 lb beef left over and it still tasted good. Next time I’ll measure the steak seasoning more carefully.
