Broccoli and cauliflower bisque is a comforting, creamy soup that brings together two powerhouse vegetables in a smooth, velvety blend. It’s hearty without being heavy, making it perfect for both chilly nights and light lunches. With its delicate balance of earthy flavors and rich texture, this bisque is a step above your everyday vegetable soup.
What sets a bisque apart is its creamy consistency and depth of flavor. In this version, broccoli and cauliflower are the stars, offering a mild yet distinctive taste that’s enhanced by aromatic elements like sautéed onions, garlic, and a touch of thyme. A bit of butter or olive oil gives the base richness, while broth adds dimension. After simmering until tender, the vegetables are blended into a silky puree, often finished with a splash of cream or a swirl of milk for added smoothness.
The combination of broccoli and cauliflower works beautifully, the broccoli brings a slightly grassy note while the cauliflower lends a subtle sweetness and body to the soup. Together, they create a balance that feels both nourishing and indulgent. This is the kind of dish that tastes like it took hours to prepare, even though it comes together quickly with just a few simple steps.
You can keep the bisque entirely vegetarian, or deepen the flavor with a bit of Parmesan or sharp cheddar melted in at the end. Garnishes like crispy croutons, roasted seeds, or a drizzle of herb oil add texture and color, turning a humble bowl of soup into a beautiful presentation.
Broccoli and cauliflower bisque also stores well, making it ideal for meal prep or freezing. It reheats beautifully and pairs well with crusty bread, grilled cheese, or a light salad. Whether you’re looking for a cozy dinner starter or a filling midday meal, this bisque is a reliable go-to.
Smooth, savory, and packed with vegetables, broccoli and cauliflower bisque is a delicious way to enjoy classic ingredients in a new and elevated form. It’s the kind of dish that comforts and satisfies without ever feeling too rich.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 head cauliflower chopped
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 4 cups vegetable broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until fragrant and translucent.
- Add the cauliflower and broccoli to the pot, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

- Simmer for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Instructions were confusing. How long to simmer again? 🤔
This soup is amazing! So rich and creamy. My kids loved it!
Honestly, I don’t get why everyone loves this. It’s just mushy veggies. What’s the big deal? 🤷♂️
I totally get what you mean, but give it a chance! The cream and spices really bring it to life. 🌱
Mushy veggies? Nah, it’s a comforting soup! Different tastes, I guess. You gotta try it!
So easy to make! Even my kids loved it. I added some croutons on top too. YUM!
Eh. Just didn’t do it for me. Taste is kinda bland. Maybe need more spices?
I totally get what you mean! I added a pinch of cayenne pepper and some thyme and it really kicked it up a notch. Maybe try that next time!
Easy to follow but what’s with the heavy cream? Can’t we just use coconut milk? Much healthier.
This was too bland for my taste. I ended up adding some spices but it still didn’t hit the spot. 🙁
Yummy! Just made it and I feel like a chef! 😍
That sounds delicious! I can’t wait to try it myself! 🍲
Looks easy, but are you sure it’s really that good? I mean, I’ve made soups that didn’t turn out at all like I thought.
I didn’t have heavy cream, used milk instead. Good enough!
Good to hear you made it work! Milk can be a good substitute in a pinch. I’m trying this recipe tonight!
This bisque is absolutely delicious! Creamy and super comforting. Will definitely make again.
Super easy to whip up! Perfect for a quick lunch.
Easy to make but doesn’t taste like much. Could use more seasoning.
More seasoning??? I think it’s perfect as is! Sometimes simple is best. Why complicate things?
I totally get what you mean! A little more garlic or some spices could really elevate the flavors. I usually add some red pepper flakes for a kick.
Tastes fine, but I think it needs more flavor… maybe some cheese or herbs? Just a suggestion!
Absolutely loved this recipe! It was so creamy and delicious! Will make it again soon!
So glad you enjoyed it! It’s one of my favorites too! 😊
I added some cheese on top and it was delicious! Will make again!
This soup was amazing! So creamy and flavorful. Definitely a go-to recipe for me now.
I just threw in a bag of frozen broccoli and it worked fine. Still good soup!
Love how simple this is. Perfect for dinner! But I wish I could have it thicker.
You could try adding more cream or even some potato to thicken it up! Glad you like the recipe!
Broccoli and cauliflower in soup? Weird combo, but I actually liked it! Who knew?
I’m not a fan of blending my food. I just couldn’t get past the texture of a pureed soup. Sorry!
Very easy to make! My husband said I should make this again, so that says a lot! 😄 Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s always a win when the hubby loves your cooking! 😊
Too rich with the heavy cream. Maybe try coconut milk next time? Would cut the fat, I think.
I totally agree! I prefer coconut milk too, it gives a nice sweetness. Maybe I’ll try it your way next time!
This soup is heavenly! I added some chili flakes for a kick, and it was perfect! 10/10 would recommend.
Broccoli soup? No thanks, I just like broccoli plain.
I was skeptical at first, but this turned out great! Just used almond milk instead of heavy cream.
Heavy cream makes it rich tho, almond milk is like water! 🤷♂️ But if you liked it, who am I to judge?
I’m glad to hear it turned out great! Almond milk is a nice touch. Did you add any spices or extra flavoring?
Why does it say ‘vegetable broth’? What even is that? I just used water.
Meh. It’s just soup, nothin speical. Just a bunch of veggie mush. 😒
I totally disagree! This bisque is super creamy and delicious! Give it another try! 😋
I followed the recipe exactly but my soup turned out super watery. Maybe the broth was too much? Not sure if I’ll try again.
Was skeptical at first, but tasted great! I added some chili flakes for a kick. Yum!
Chili flakes? That’s a genius idea! I never thought about adding spice to soup. I’ll try it next time! Thanks for the tip!
Eh, didn’t turn out like I expected. My soup was too watery. I guess I used too much broth?
This bisque is amazing! So creamy and flavorful.
I totally agree! This bisque is one of my favorites too. Perfect comfort food!
I don’t like broccoli but the soup was surprisingly good. My kids finished it all!
I didn’t like it. The kids wouldn’t even take a bite. Maybe too much broccoli?
I tried this recipe but I wasn’t sure about the heavy cream… too rich for my taste! Next time I’ll skip it.
Yum! I added some chili flakes for a kick. Definitely making this again!
Chili flakes sound awesome! I never thought of that. Can’t wait to try your version!
I don’t know, adding chili to a bisque? Seems like a weird combo to me. But hey, to each their own.
Nah, I prefer my veggies crunchy. This was too mushy for me. 😕
This soup was too bland. Should’ve added cheese or sumthin. Not very exciting.
I don’t think cauliflower and broccoli go together. Not for me.
I made this for my dinner date and she loved it! Gonna score some points for sure. 😍
Yum! Love it! So creamy and tasty. Even my kids enjoyed it, which is rare for veggies.
So glad to hear that! This is one of my favorites because it’s so easy to make and tastes great. 😋
