Blue Cheese and Apple Tarts

February 10, 2025

Blue cheese and apple tarts are an elegant and flavorful combination of savory and sweet, making them the perfect appetizer or light meal for any occasion. The creamy, tangy blue cheese pairs beautifully with the crisp sweetness of apples, creating a balance of flavors that is both rich and refreshing. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, preparing a cozy meal, or looking for a unique addition to a holiday spread, these tarts are sure to impress.

The base of the tart is made with a buttery, flaky pastry crust that provides a perfect contrast to the creamy filling. The richness of the crust complements the boldness of the blue cheese, which melts beautifully as the tarts bake, creating a smooth, velvety texture. The blue cheese brings a sharp, savory flavor to the dish, which is balanced by the sweetness of fresh apples. Thinly sliced apples, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, add a crisp texture and a touch of natural sweetness that pairs wonderfully with the tang of the cheese.

To bring the flavors together, a touch of honey or balsamic glaze can be drizzled over the tarts before baking, adding an extra layer of sweetness and depth. Fresh thyme or rosemary sprinkled on top provides an aromatic touch, enhancing the savory elements of the blue cheese while complementing the apples.

Once baked, the tarts are golden brown, with the cheese bubbling and the apples tender yet still holding their shape. They can be served warm or at room temperature, making them versatile for different occasions. For an added touch, a few crumbles of candied walnuts or a drizzle of additional honey can be added just before serving for a delightful crunch and extra sweetness.

These blue cheese and apple tarts are perfect as a sophisticated appetizer, a light lunch paired with a salad, or as a unique dish for holiday gatherings. The combination of bold flavors and contrasting textures makes them a truly memorable and indulgent treat.

Yum! Great recipe! I added some walnuts for crunch. Can’t wait to make them again! My whole family loved it.

These tarts are AMAZING! The combo of blue cheese and apple is just divine. Definitely a hit at my dinner party! Will make again!

I dunno, blue cheese seems kinda weird to me. Why mix it with apples? Seems like a strange combo. 🤔

    2. 5 stars
I totally agree! The combination is just marvelous! I served these to my friends and they couldn’t get enough.

  3. 3 stars
I was a bit skeptical about the blue cheese and apple combo. It seemed odd, but I gave it a shot. It’s not my fav, a bit too strong for me.

  4. User avatar garland.heller says:

    3 stars
The prep is simple, but cutting the pastry into 6 squares was annoying. Also mine didn’t brown evenly—maybe my parchment was wrinkled. Flavor was good though.

  5. User avatar wyatt.schimmel51 says:

    5 stars
I cooked at 400 but my pastries didn’t get golden until like 30 mins, lol. Maybe my oven runs cold. Either way, the end result was great—crisp outside, soft inside.

  6. 2 stars
I don’t like blue cheese, can I use cheddar? Or is that a sin? 😂

  7. User avatar jeanne.mosciski7 says:

Confused about the honey. Is it supposed to be sweet or what? I just don’t get it.

    1. User avatar lynne.heller29 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, the honey is supposed to add a sweet contrast to the savory blue cheese. It might be weird at first, but it’s really good!

    2. User avatar trey.marks says:

      2 stars
I thought honey was just for tea! What, you put it on cheese too? Seems strange to me.

  8. User avatar cory.stanton18 says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty combo, but 15 minutes felt a little short for my oven. I gave them closer to 20 and they browned nicely.

  9. 2 stars
Not gonna lie, I didn’t love it. The blue cheese was way too strong for my taste, and the puff pastry didn’t get as flaky as I wanted.

  10. User avatar branda.pollich1985 says:

    5 stars
Wow. Just wow. Made these for a party and they disappeared in minutes!

  11. User avatar Zarniwoop says:

    4 stars
Simple and sooo yummmm! 😍 Didnt even use thyme, still good. Highly recommend!

  12. 4 stars
Im not a fan of cheese but these are surprisingly good. Maybe I’m becoming a cheese person!

  13. User avatar raeann.prohaska says:

    5 stars
These are amazing! The combo of blue cheese and apple is just perfect. Will make again for sure!

  14. User avatar crissy.white51 says:

    3 stars
I messed up the timing a little and my pastry got a bit too browned. Also, the honey kind of pooled—still tasty though. Will try again and maybe blot the apple slices or space them better.

    1. User avatar selena.swift says:

      3 stars
400°F is kinda high for puff pastry? Mine always browns fast, like 12 minutes and it’s already dark. Also honey pooling happens to me too—I usually warm the honey a bit so it spreads, but blotting apples is probably the real fix.

    2. 5 stars
Honestly that sounds like a solid save—too browned is still way better than underdone. Blotting the apple slices and spacing them more totally makes sense; less pooling = more crisp pastry. Let us know how it turns out next time!

  15. User avatar booker.bradtke23 says:

    4 stars
Super fast to make! Just like it says, but I used goat cheese because I don’t like blue cheese. Still awesome!

  16. User avatar marilee.jacobi1990 says:

So easy to make! I made them for my kids and they loved ’em! Thanks for sharing!

    1. User avatar mathWizard says:

My kids won’t eat blue cheese! What a weird combo, apples and cheese? Sounds gross, not trying it.

    2. 5 stars
I’m so glad to hear you and your kids loved them! They’re always a hit at my house too. 😊

  17. User avatar tosha.stroman1982 says:

Super easy and fast! I had thawed puff pastry in the fridge already, so it was basically assemble-and-bake. I added extra thyme because why not.

  18. User avatar gerard.oreilly says:

    5 stars
These tarts were amazing! The combo of blue cheese and apple is genius. Definitely a keeper!

  19. User avatar ivory.collier says:

I don’t really get why anyone would want to ruin good apples with blue cheese. Just sayin’.

    1. User avatar Michael83 says:

      5 stars
I actually think the blue cheese compliments the sweetness of the apples really well! It’s all about balance. Give it a try! 😋

  20. User avatar eddy.bernhard says:

Meh. Could have used more flavor. Maybe add some nuts next time? 🤷‍♂️

  23. User avatar erich.grant1956 says:

I’m skeptical about blue cheese and apples together but tried it. They taste good but not winning over the fam.

  24. User avatar elayne.wisoky34 says:

    5 stars
This is such a fun sweet-savory combo. The honey really balances the sharp blue cheese, and the thyme makes it smell amazing. Mine browned fast at 15 minutes—watch it!

    1. 4 stars
I tried these and mine browned way before 15 minutes too 😅 I’m thinking my oven runs hot. Next time I’ll lower the temp or bake on a lower rack.

    2. User avatar adria.lindgren says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—honey + blue cheese is such a good contrast. I also love how the thyme makes the whole thing taste more “grown up.”

  25. User avatar sylvie.bergstrom1964 says:

    3 stars
Good start, but they need more honey. Felt kinda dry with just a little.

    1. 5 stars
I totally agree! A bit more honey would balance out the flavors nicely. Maybe try 2 tablespoons next time?

  26. User avatar daniel.schoen says:

    5 stars
These were surprisingly elegant. The sweet honey + sharp blue cheese combo is perfect, and the thyme makes it taste restaurant-level. I baked mine closer to 20 minutes and they came out nicely flaky.

    1. 5 stars
Yes! That honey + blue cheese contrast is so good. Mine always taste fancy even though it’s just puff pastry and whatever’s in the fridge 😂

    2. 3 stars
I tried this and… mine didn’t get “flaky” at all. I think I overworked the pastry squares. Any tips on keeping them crispy?

  27. User avatar freddy.zboncak says:

    5 stars
Perfect for brunch! The flavors are just WOW! Definitely doing this again.

Sounds gross to me. Blue cheese and apples? No thanks. I’ll stick to my plain cheese on toast.

  28. User avatar halflife4 says:

    2 stars
Honestly, it was okay, I could taste the blue cheese too much. Maybe I added too much? Who knows.

  29. User avatar christopher.greenholt1990 says:

Blue cheese and apples? Sounds weird but actually tastes amazing! Who knew?!

  30. User avatar hilario.bartoletti says:

  32. User avatar Eccentrica Gallumbits says:

    5 stars
These were a hit at the party! The sweet and savory combo is just perfect! 5 stars!

  33. 2 stars
Not so sure about honey and thyme, doesn’ seem to combine right. Apples good tho!

  34. User avatar lester.rutherford24 says:

    4 stars
Made these for brunch and everyone went back for seconds. Next time I might slice the apples a touch thinner so they soften more, but flavor-wise it’s a solid winner.

  35. User avatar marlo.mueller1979 says:

    2 stars
Easy recipe. Wasn’t a big fan. Prefer regular dessert tarts.

  36. User avatar alec.hodkiewicz28 says:

    5 stars
These tarts are a hit at my parties! The combo of blue cheese and honey is just divine! 🍏❤️

  37. User avatar lizbeth.wyman39 says:

    2 stars
I tried this recipe but it didn’t turn out as planned. The puff pastry was soggy. Maybe I did something wrong?

  38. User avatar joe_banana says:

    5 stars
Wow—sweet + salty is such a good combo. The blue cheese melted nicely and the thyme made it smell fancy. I baked mine closer to 18 minutes and it was perfectly golden.

  39. User avatar fermin.rohan49 says:

    2 stars
I tried these, but the blue cheese was way too strong for my taste. Ended up just eating the apple part.

  40. User avatar jami.funk says:

    5 stars
The squares idea is cute. I’m imagining crispy edges and melty cheese—yes please. Also love that it uses puff pastry, because I am lazy and it saves time.

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! Crispy edges + melty blue cheese is my weakness 😍 Puff pastry is the ultimate lazy-win.

    2. 4 stars
I tried something similar but I used too much honey and it got kinda sticky. Here’s hoping 1 tbsp is just right for six squares.

  41. User avatar reed.bode says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but mine got soggy in the middle. I used thinner apple slices like the recipe says—maybe next time I’ll pat them dry after slicing.

  42. 1 star
Meh. Too salty for me, and the honey made it kinda sticky. I think I prefer a simpler appetizer.

    1. User avatar Numbers Leannon says:

      4 stars
Totally get it—blue cheese + honey can go from sweet/savory to “where’d all the salt go?” real fast. Next time maybe use less blue cheese or skip the honey drizzle and just do a light thyme topping.

  43. User avatar allene.rempel says:

    2 stars
The recipe is fine, but I’ve seen better tarts online. Will not be trying again.

  44. User avatar demarcus.klocko says:

    4 stars
My kids loved these! They are easy to make, and taste delish. Thanks for sharing!

  45. User avatar otis.kuvalis79 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the blue cheese amount… 2 ounces for six squares felt a little stingy. I used a bit more and it tasted better. Also my honey pooled weirdly but still delicious.

    1. User avatar roselee.prosacco41 says:

      5 stars
Good call—2 oz for six squares might be on the light side. Glad extra blue cheese made it taste better!

  46. User avatar alethea.lockman1961 says:

    3 stars
This recipe is ok but honestly I think it could use some bacon or somethin’. Just my opinion!

  47. User avatar eunice.schulist says:

    5 stars
Love it! super quick appetizer. thyme is underrated. will repeat for holidays!

    1. 5 stars
So glad you liked it! The honey + blue cheese combo is dangerously good 😄 and yes, thyme definitely deserves more love.

  48. User avatar melina.ohara63 says:

    3 stars
What even is thyme? I used basil instead and they turned out fine lol.

  49. User avatar Restless Draugr says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid recipe. I was skeptical about honey with blue cheese, but it actually works. Next time I’ll slice the apple a touch thinner so it softens more before the pastry browns.

    1. 3 stars
Honey with blue cheese sounds wrong to me 😅 but I trust you. I might try it, though I’d probably use less honey ‘cause blue cheese is already strong. Still, nice recipe!

    2. User avatar sharon.mohr1994 says:

      5 stars
I was also unsure about the honey + blue cheese combo, but the sweet-salty thing really clicks. Slicing the apple thinner is such a good call—mine stayed a little crunchy in the middle.

  50. User avatar julietta.mayert says:

    5 stars
These sound dangerously good. Sweet honey + sharp blue cheese is such a good combo, and the thyme makes it feel fancy without trying too hard.

  51. User avatar tyson.towne1988 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I think I would skip the thyme next time. It was a bit too much for my taste.

    1. User avatar bruno.christiansen59 says:

      4 stars
Totally understand! Thyme can be strong for some. I loved these tarts without it, too!

  52. 3 stars
I used Danish blue because that’s what I had. Way too salty for my family’s taste. If you’re sensitive to strong cheeses, maybe reduce the amount or choose a milder one.

    1. User avatar elizabet.zemlak says:

      5 stars
Good tip! Danish blue can be *really* punchy. I’ll try reducing it or swapping to something milder next time.

  53. 5 stars
These tarts are a game changer! The combo of sweet and savory is perfect. Yum!

  54. 1 star
I burnt mine. 😔 But the idea is good, I just gotta pay more attention next time.

    1. User avatar Katah Chuki says:

      4 stars
Don’t worry! Burning is part of cooking sometimes. Just gotta watch your oven more closely. 😊

    2. 2 stars
Burnt? That’s rough. I think blue cheese is a weird choice for sweets tho. 🤷‍♂️

  55. User avatar Fallon Walker says:

    5 stars
I’m not usually a blue cheese person but wow… the apples mellow it out. Next time I’ll add a tiny bit of lemon zest for brightness.

  56. 5 stars
Oh man, these tarts were so good. The blue cheese was sharp but the honey tones it down! Love it!!! 10/10

  57. User avatar lisette.bogisich1995 says:

    5 stars
Blue cheese and honey is my favorite thing, so I was excited. This didn’t disappoint—just bake time might need watching. Mine were golden at 15 minutes exactly.

  58. User avatar hae.lemke48 says:

    2 stars
Didn’t turn out for me 😔 The pastry was tough, might have rolled it out too much. @@@#@.

  59. 5 stars
Yum! I skipped the thyme because I didn’t have any and they were still bomb!

    1. 5 stars
Glad to hear they still turned out great! Blue cheese and apple is such a good combo, even without the thyme! 🍏🧀

    2. User avatar dionna.watsica56 says:

      3 stars
I’m skeptical. Isn’t thyme supposed to add flavor? How can they be ‘bomb’ without it? 😕

  60. User avatar francis.stroman says:

    5 stars
These are delicious! The combination of blue cheese and apples is surprisingly good. I will definitely make them again!

  61. 3 stars
Kinda confusing: 1 sheet puff pastry into six squares? Mine came out a bit small, like bite-size. Still tasted good, just less “tart” more “snack.”

    1. User avatar jerrod.nolan11 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, I can see how that would be confusing. Six squares can be pretty small depending on how big your sheet is—mine is usually closer to 9×9-ish chunks, not big tartlets. If you want more tart-size, cut into 4 squares instead.

    2. User avatar jeffrey.windler21 says:

      4 stars
I had that exact thing happen—mine were totally bite-size and the “tart” part felt muted 😅 But honestly? Snack mode is dangerous. Next time I’m gonna make them bigger and maybe add a tiny extra drizzle of honey for balance.

  62. User avatar Wellington Yueh says:

    5 stars
    Quick and delish! 🔥

  63. User avatar The Allitnils says:

    3 stars
I used dried thyme because that’s what I had. It tasted okay but not as aromatic as fresh. Still good, just less fancy.

  64. 4 stars
Just made these for a party and everyone loved them! So easy to make too!

    1. 5 stars
I tried these too! So good, right? I was surprised at how quick they were to whip up.

    2. User avatar freddy.gutmann says:

      2 stars
They sound fancy, but does blue cheese really taste good with apple? Kinda sounds weird to me.

  65. User avatar una.bogisich2015 says:

    5 stars
These were amazing! I love the combination of sweet and savory. Will definitely make again!

  66. User avatar Cammar Pilru says:

    3 stars
My puff pastry kinda puffed on one corner and not the other 😅 still edible. I think I didn’t cut the squares evenly. Flavor was good, though—would make again.

    1. User avatar terisa.swift says:

      4 stars
Totally get that—puff pastry can be weirdly uneven if one edge sits a bit thicker or the squares aren’t quite the same size. Cutting them more precisely (and making sure they’re all the same thickness) usually helps a lot. Glad the flavor still came out great though—blue cheese + apple + honey is a killer combo. Would love to hear how it looked the next time!

  67. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    4 stars
I was worried the blue cheese would be too intense, but once it baked into the pastry it mellowed out. Apple helped a lot.

  68. 5 stars
Wow, what a unique recipe!! I would’ve never thought to mix apples with blue cheese. Will do again!

    1. User avatar vicky.greenholt75 says:

      2 stars
Sounds odd tbh. Fruits and cheese? Kinda weird, don’t ya think? 🤷‍♂️

    2. 5 stars
I know, right? The combo is amazing! I never would have mixed those either but wow, it works so well!

  69. 4 stars
Super easy to make! But I don’t like blue cheese, so I just used mozzarella. Turned out great!

    1. User avatar matt.bednar81 says:

      2 stars
I dunno, blue cheese is like, the best part! Why mess with a classic? But glad it worked for you I guess.

    2. User avatar tiffaney.padberg6 says:

      4 stars
Mozzarella sounds good too! I bet the honey with apple balances it out nicely. Will try this soon!

  70. User avatar nerissa.hill says:

    5 stars
These turned out surprisingly elegant. The honey tames the blue cheese just enough, and the thyme makes everything taste “fancy” without effort. Would make again for sure!

  71. 4 stars
So delicious! But like, why is it called a tart? It’s more like an open pie, right?

  72. User avatar stacia.deckow23 says:

    2 stars
Blue cheese tart? Apple tart? I don’t know… I guess I’m just picky. The flavor was strong—like really strong. If you love blue cheese, you’ll probably love this.

  73. User avatar Adria Hyatt says:

    2 stars
I’m skeptical of fruit + blue cheese, but I tried anyway. It was okay, though the blue cheese smell was strong right out of the oven. Cooling helped a lot.

  74. User avatar alise.nader53 says:

    3 stars
Does it HAVE to be blue cheese? I was thinkin’ cream cheese instead but idk if that works…

  75. User avatar sydney.jaskolski82 says:

    2 stars
Not my favorite. The blue cheese was too strong for me. Maybe I’ll try with cheddar next time.

  76. User avatar lory.wuckert96 says:

    5 stars
WOW! I served these at a party and everyone loved them. Such a unique flavor combo!

  77. User avatar Charles Darwin says:

    1 star
Nah, not a fan. The flavors didn’t mix well for me. Sorry! Not my thing.

  78. User avatar Kelley Baumbach says:

    1 star
Blue cheese is nasty like who came up with that? 🤢

    1. User avatar herman.gerlach1953 says:

      5 stars
Nah, I love blue cheese! It adds so much flavor to dishes. You should give it another shot!

    2. User avatar quintin.batz1951 says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! Blue cheese is definitely an acquired taste. But these tarts could surprise you! 😄

  79. 3 stars
Puff pastry can be tricky to cut evenly. If your squares aren’t equal, some will burn before others are flaky. But once you nail it, these are probably great.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—my last batch was a mess because the squares weren’t even. The thin ones were basically charcoal while the thick ones were still pale 😅 But yes, if you get that right, flaky heaven.

  80. User avatar hoyt.corkery11 says:

    4 stars
The whole thing smelled amazing while baking. I’m giving it a 4 because the blue cheese got a little too strong for my partner, but I loved it.

  81. User avatar ethel.cummerata49 says:

    4 stars
These tarts look restaurant-level. I used mild blue cheese because that’s what I had, and honestly they were still great. The flaky pastry + apple bite is perfect.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—those flavors sound like a “wow” appetizer. The honey + blue cheese combo is such a nice balance. I bet the apple bite keeps it from being too salty.

    2. User avatar jean.macgyver1984 says:

      3 stars
I tried something similar but my blue cheese was kinda strong and it took over the whole thing 😅 Maybe I used too much? Still tasted good though. Any tips for not overpowering it?

  82. User avatar malcolm.bogisich2020 says:

    2 stars
Uh, what’s the deal with blue cheese? It smells funny to me. I skipped it and just had apples on puff pastry and honey.

  83. User avatar quinton.cartwright says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but mine got a little soggy on the bottom. Next time I’ll probably bake on a preheated tray or use less apple. Still tasty though—savory-sweet is my thing.

  84. User avatar maren.nader28 says:

    4 stars
Simple recipe! But I didn’t have honey, so I used syrup. Still came out yummy!

I was skeptical about the blue cheese with apple, but wow—good balance. I used a slightly sweeter blue (like Stilton) and it worked even better. Would make again for brunch.

Tried making these for the first time and I burnt ’em! 🙁 Gonna blame my oven, not the recipe.

I tried this recipe, but I used cheddar instead of blue cheese. It was okay. Still, I think the original is better.

    1. User avatar merna.stamm says:

      3 stars
I dunno, I think cheddar could work in a pinch. Not everyone likes blue cheese, right?

    2. User avatar wellRespected says:

Cheddar is good, but blue cheese really makes this dish special! Maybe try it next time?

  88. User avatar mollie.effertz says:

I made them and the honey burned a little—maybe my oven runs hot. Also, 400°F for 15-20 minutes feels short? Could use more time, but overall tasty. Would tweak the bake next time.

Ngl, blue cheese + apple is a weird idea but it actually works. Would make again!

  90. User avatar manuel.kerluke says:

Super easy recipe! I used goat cheese instead because I didn’t have blue cheese, and they turned out great!

  91. User avatar Chaurus Hunter says:

My pastry didn’t turn very flaky, more like bread. I think I overhandled it and maybe my oven runs hot. Still tasty, just not the texture I wanted.

  92. 3 stars
Idk, blue cheese on anything sweet usually sounds gross to me. But I tried one anyway and… yeah, it’s actually not bad. Still wouldn’t serve it to everyone though.

  93. User avatar clark.leffler says:

These were such a fun sweet-and-savory combo. The honey really balances the blue cheese, and the puff pastry went perfectly flaky. I sprinkled a pinch of black pepper too—highly recommend!

    1. 5 stars
Yes! The sweet honey + tangy blue cheese combo is dangerously good. I added a tiny bit of cracked pepper too and it made it even better.

  94. User avatar wanetta.treutel says:

    3 stars
It was ok. I mean, I liked the flavor but my family didn’t care for the blue cheese. Maybe use cheddar next time?

I forgot to thaw the pastry fully… it was a disaster at first, but somehow it still puffed up. Taste saved it. If you follow directions, you’ll do better than me.

I tried it but my father said ‘no more cheese for you!’ So I guess he didn’t like it? :/

    1. 4 stars
Oh no! Maybe he just doesn’t like blue cheese. It’s definitely an acquired taste! Try it with a different cheese next time.

I was skeptical about mixing blue cheese and sweet apple, but it totally worked. Mine needed the full 20 minutes for extra browning—next time I’ll keep an eye on the edges sooner.

Blue cheese + honey?? Idk. Still, I tried it and it’s like sweet-and-salty candy vibes, but savory. Would make again, though I might use a little less cheese.

    1. 4 stars
Wait, why does this sound so good?? Blue cheese can be super strong, but with apples + honey it makes sense. Might try with just 1/2 the cheese like you said.

    2. User avatar Grunthos the Flatulent says:

      5 stars
I get what you mean—blue cheese + honey is such a weirdly perfect combo. The sweet really smooths out the sharpness. I’ve made something similar and it vanished fast 😄

  99. User avatar solomon.rau1964 says:

Mine leaked honey and got kinda sticky 😅 but flavor was still there. Next time I’ll maybe use less honey and arrange apple tighter.

    1. User avatar hal.kling2005 says:

      5 stars
Ugh yeah, honey can be super leaky with puff pastry 😅 Cutting back a bit and tucking the apples in tighter makes a lot of sense. Maybe also try a quick drizzle (or even brushing) so it stays put—flavor usually still shines through!

I followed the steps exactly, but my pastry didn’t get as flaky as I hoped. Still tasted good though—blue cheese + apple is a great idea. Next time I’ll cut a little bigger for more lift.

  101. User avatar cornelius.skiles24 says:

Only problem: blue cheese is kinda strong. I’d cut the blue cheese amount or use a milder one unless you really like that taste.

These sound dangerously good—sweet honey + sharp blue cheese is such a great combo. I’d probably add a pinch of black pepper too, but the thyme is already making it feel fancy.

  103. 5 stars
So good! 10/10 would eat again. The thyme smelled amazing while baking.

I was skeptical about blue cheese with apples, but wow! They turned out great. Perfect appetizer for my dinner party!

  105. 5 stars
These tarts are AMAZING! The blue cheese and apples go so well together. Can’t wait to make them again!

  106. 5 stars
Made them for a small get-together and they were gone fast. 400°F for 18 minutes worked perfectly for my oven—nice and flaky.

I forgot to add honey, and it was a bit dry. Don’t skip the honey, folks!

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll definitely remember the honey next time. Sounds delicious!

I’m skeptical of blue cheese in desserts/tarts, but this is savory in a good way. The apple slices help a lot.

    1. User avatar ty.mcclure6 says:

I’m still not convinced. Blue cheese in sweet stuff usually tastes like fridge cheese to me. But I guess with apple it might not be too bad…

    2. 5 stars
Okay I’m sold 😅 blue cheese + apple sounds weird until you actually taste it. The honey and thyme probably balance the funk.

  109. User avatar Jim Shorts says:

    4 stars
Not bad, but my pastry didn’t crisp as much as I hoped (maybe I used a thicker apple slice). Flavor is great though—blue cheese + thyme is a solid idea.

  110. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

My pastry didn’t get as flaky as I hoped—maybe my puff pastry was too warm when I handled it. Flavor was still good though, especially with the honey.

  111. 4 stars
400°F for 15–20 minutes might not be enough for my oven—my puff pastry always takes longer. Still, I love the idea and the ingredient list is simple.

  112. User avatar douglas.hickle81 says:

Mid. Not bad, but I think I expected more. My apples were kinda crunchy after baking, maybe I messed up the thickness. Wouldn’t make again, sorry.

  113. User avatar Frankie and Benjy says:

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about blue cheese in a dessert-ish tart situation, but it works. The apple is sweet, honey rounds it out, and the thyme keeps it from being too sugary.

  114. User avatar bert.schuppe says:

Not sure about honey on blue cheese… I get that it balances the saltiness, but I’m skeptical it won’t taste weird together. Might try half the honey.

  115. User avatar kathyrn.jacobi says:

These look fancy but are actually pretty easy. Puff pastry is basically cheat code. I added a tiny pinch of black pepper on top and it was chef-y.

    1. User avatar jann.muller18 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—puff pastry really is the cheat code 😄 I’ve never tried blue cheese + honey though, that sounds dangerously good. Did you get more sweet or more salty with that combo?

    2. 2 stars
Hmm I’m not sure about putting blue cheese on something with honey and apple. Seems like it would be too weird together… but I guess the thyme helps? Might try with a *tiny* amount next time.

  116. User avatar karry.stark1960 says:

I made something like this but with brie instead of blue cheese. Still tasty, but blue cheese is bold lol. This recipe looks super straightforward though.

  117. User avatar karlyn.hills says:

Blue cheese just tastes kinda funky to me, so I’m not sure I can get into this. I did like the thyme flavor, but the honey didn’t save it for my taste.

  118. User avatar florentino.osinski75 says:

    5 stars
Wow—this combo actually makes sense. The sweet honey with the sharp blue cheese is surprisingly good, and the thyme lifts everything. I baked mine closer to 18 minutes and they came out perfectly flaky.

  119. 5 stars
These came out so good—crispy, salty-sweet, and the thyme really makes it. I used a crumblier blue cheese and it still worked perfectly.

I don’t get it. Puff pastry + cheese + fruit… sounds wrong. Like why not just put apple on a sandwich? 😅
