Banana Chia Pudding

April 3, 2024

If you’re looking for a healthy, no-fuss breakfast or snack, banana chia pudding is a delicious go-to. Creamy, naturally sweet, and packed with nutrients, this easy recipe is perfect for busy mornings or when you just need something light yet satisfying.

Made with only a few ingredients – ripe banana, chia seeds, milk (any kind you like), and a touch of vanilla, this pudding comes together in minutes. The magic happens while it sits in the fridge. As the chia seeds soak, they expand and create a thick, pudding-like texture that feels indulgent but is actually good for you.

To prepare it, mash a ripe banana until smooth, then stir in chia seeds, milk, and a dash of vanilla extract. Let the mixture chill for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best texture. The banana adds natural sweetness, so you often don’t need any added sugar, but if you like, a drizzle of maple syrup or honey works well too.

Once set, the pudding is creamy with just the right amount of chew. You can enjoy it on its own or layer it with toppings like sliced banana, berries, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or a spoonful of nut butter. It also makes a great base for breakfast parfaits.

What makes banana chia pudding especially appealing is how customizable it is. Use almond, oat, coconut, or dairy milk depending on your preference. You can also blend the ingredients before chilling for a smoother texture.

Aside from being tasty, chia pudding is full of health benefits. Chia seeds are high in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. Combined with potassium-rich bananas, this is a great way to fuel your body and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time.

So the next time you’re in need of a make-ahead breakfast or an easy snack, give banana chia pudding a try. It’s creamy, wholesome, and incredibly easy, a little jar of goodness ready whenever you are.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster! Just eat a banana rather than mixing it with pudding, lol.

It’s a nice healthy alternative to dessert, but chia seeds kind of give me a weird texture vibe. Not my favorite.

    1. User avatar tobias.senger28 says:

      5 stars
I love it! Chia gives it a nice crunch. But I guess it’s not for everyone. You can skip them if you want.

I totally get the texture issue with chia seeds! They can be a bit funky. Maybe try blending them longer next time? Hope it helps!

Too sweet for my taste. I’ll reduce the honey next time. Still, it’s not bad.

    1. User avatar ArabianNights says:

I totally get it! Honey can really sweeten things up. Have you tried using less or even just skipping it? The bananas are sweet enough!

    2. 2 stars
I don’t think it’s sweet at all! I added extra honey and loved it. Maybe your bananas were too ripe?

This pudding looks easy but took me forever to blend the bananas. Maybe my blender is just not good.

    1. User avatar lyndon.botsford19 says:

Blending bananas ain’t hard! Just mash ’em with a fork if your blender is slow. Might be easier! But pudding looks yummy!

    2. User avatar phebe.mante1962 says:

      4 stars
I totally get it! My old blender takes forever too. Maybe you should invest in a better one for smoother blends. But the pudding is worth it!

    1. 5 stars
Chia seeds are actually really nutritious! They’re not just for pets, lol. They help thicken the pudding and add omega-3s. You should give it a try!

  30. User avatar windy.willms says:

Yummy but kinda bland. Needs more sweet stuff. I added chocolate chips. 3 stars.

I think the chocolate chips are a great idea! I like my desserts on the sweeter side too. Maybe try adding some cinnamon or nutmeg next time? That could help with the flavor!

  31. User avatar ute.jakubowski2000 says:

I don’t get the hype, it was too mushy for my taste.

    1. 4 stars
I get what you mean! Texture is super important, and mushy is definitely not for everyone. Maybe try it with less chia seeds next time? 🤔

Tried ur recipe, was nice, but my pudding was too watery…what did I do wrong?

    1. 4 stars
Maybe you didn’t let it sit long enough? The chia seeds need time to soak up the liquid!

Watery pudding? That’s weird, are you sure you followed the instructions?

I dunno, I think banana pudding is supposed to be made with actual bananas, not this chia trend. Seems weird.

  49. User avatar hyacinth.okon says:

    2 stars
