Baked vodka sauce gnocchi is a rich and indulgent dish that combines soft, pillowy gnocchi with a creamy, tangy vodka sauce, all baked to golden perfection. This hearty meal takes the classic combination of vodka sauce and pasta and elevates it with gnocchi, offering a unique twist that’s sure to satisfy. Whether you’re looking for a comforting dinner or a show-stopping dish for a special occasion, this baked gnocchi is the perfect choice.
The base of this dish begins with gnocchi, which can either be homemade or store-bought. These little potato dumplings are tender and absorb the sauce beautifully, creating a melt-in-your-mouth experience with every bite. The gnocchi is first boiled until soft and then layered in a baking dish with the vodka sauce.
The vodka sauce itself is made from a combination of crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, garlic, onions, and a generous splash of vodka, which helps to deepen the flavor of the sauce and bring a bit of brightness to the dish. The vodka is cooked off, leaving behind a smooth, creamy, and slightly tangy sauce that complements the gnocchi perfectly. Fresh basil and a pinch of red pepper flakes can be added for a burst of herbaceous flavor and a hint of heat.
Once the gnocchi is layered with the vodka sauce, the dish is topped with a generous amount of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan. As it bakes, the cheese melts and becomes bubbly and golden, adding a deliciously gooey texture that’s irresistible. The baking process also allows the flavors to meld together, creating a comforting, satisfying dish with every bite.
Baked vodka sauce gnocchi is perfect for a cozy night in or when you’re looking for a dish that’s both rich and flavorful. It pairs wonderfully with a simple green salad or a slice of garlic bread to soak up any extra sauce.
This dish is sure to be a favorite in your recipe rotation, combining the creamy indulgence of vodka sauce with the soft texture of gnocchi in a way that will leave everyone asking for seconds.

This looks so good! I can’t wait to try it this weekend. I love gnocchi!
I don’t get the vodka sauce thing. Why use vodka? Is it just for flavor or is there a point? Anyway, I’ll probably skip this one.
Honestly, it turned out way too soggy for me. Not sure what went wrong.
Cheesy goodness!! My 6-year-old could eat this every day, it’s that good!
Isn’t gnocchi supposed to be fried? This seems odd to bake it?
I didn’t have vodka sauce, used marinara instead. Still turned out pretty good.
That sounds great! Marinara has a nice flavor too. I’m glad it worked out for you!
Marinara? Really? I mean, I guess it could be okay, but I think vodka sauce is kinda essential, right?
Super easy to make! I added some chicken and it was delish!
REALY GOOD! My family couldn’t get enough. Definitely making again.
Gnocchi is overrated, don’t see what the fuss is about. But this combo was okay.
Absolutely delicious! This is my go-to dish now. The kids loved it too!
Is this even a real recipe? Can’t believe people bake gnocchi with sauce. Lol.
Lol, I thought gnocchi was just for boiling. Baking it? Is that even safe? 🤔
Actually, it sounds delicious! I can’t wait to try this out. Gnocchi and vodka sauce are perfect together!
Tried this tonight—super easy and the gnocchi actually crisped up a bit from the skillet step. The bake just makes it all bubbly and cozy. Will make again!
Made this last night. Quick, easy, and delicious! Will make again.
I’m skeptical about baking gnocchi because they can turn gummy, but mine were fine! I used homemade vodka sauce and fresh parm. The whole thing tasted fancy for how quick it is.
Yummm! Added some spinach and chicken. Wow- what a twist!!
This recipe is sooo good! My family loved it!
Too salty for my taste! I followed the recipe exactly, maybe next time I’ll skip the extra salt.
Not gonna lie, I used skim mozzarella and it didn’t melt as nicely. If you use the good stuff, it’s probably way better.
Delicious! My friends are still talking about it. Will make this for my next dinner party!
I thought gnocchi was supposed to be boiled first? You just fry it, huh? Not sure about this…
Gnocchi was soggy! I don’t know if I did something wrong or what… 🙁
No worries, it happens! Mine was a bit soggy too the first time I made it. Just gotta keep practicing!
Sorry to hear that! Maybe you overcooked the gnocchi? They can get mushy if left in the water too long!
This recipe was a total hit! My kids loved it, and so did I. Easy to make and super cheesy!
I was skeptical about vodka sauce with gnocchi at first, but it was surprisingly good. Not sure I’d make it again, though.
Okay, I used homemade gnocchi and it turned out great—very rich from the mozzarella/parmesan. The only thing is it got a bit salty with both cheeses, so go light on the salt.
Easy to follow and the kids loved it. I used store-bought sauce and it turned out great! Will make again.
This was amazing! My whole family loved it. Will make again!
Made this for date night and it was perfect! Love how the cheeses melted. Gonna try it with homemade vodka sauce next time! 😊
I don’t like vodka anything (yeah, I know), so I subbed regular marinara. It was still awesome and my kids devoured it.
That’s awesome!! 🥰 I also don’t really care for vodka flavor, but I love the concept of the creamy baked cheese situation. Glad it still worked with regular marinara!
Wait… so no vodka at all? I feel like the sauce won’t be the same. But if your kids ate it, I guess I’m wrong 😅 What kinda marinara did you use—like sweet or regular?
Really good but I think 15 minutes was a little short for my oven. I ended up doing closer to 22 mins and it was perfect. Still easy—no complaints.
Eh, it was okay. My gnocchi turned out mushy… I don’t think I cooked them right.
It happens! Gnocchi can be tricky. Make sure to not overcook them in the boiling water next time. 😊
Is vodka sauce safe for kids? Asking for a friend.
I tried it but forgot the cheese. It was just ok. 👎
Really enjoyed this recipe! I added some spinach for extra veggies. Yum!
This was pretty good, not gonna lie. But the measurements are kinda loose—like “to taste” salt/pepper always makes it a gamble. Still would eat again.
I totally agree—“to taste” is basically roulette 😅 I added a pinch at a time and it came out great though. Would make again.
Nah i think the measurements are fine, you gotta season while cooking. I used more parmesan and less salt and it was perfect. Love this recipe!
I’m picky with sauce recipes, but this one worked. Jarred vodka sauce saves time and it tastes legit. Next time I’ll add some red pepper flakes.
Same here—I’m picky too, but jarred vodka sauce can be surprisingly good. The red pepper flakes idea is spot on. 🤌
Uh, I don’t even know what gnocchi is?! But my friend made it and said it was good. Looks fancy!
I don’t get why you would bake something that is already cooked! You just ruin it.
Pretty good, but I felt like it needed more sauce—at least a bit more vodka sauce or an extra splash of olive oil. Still tasty.
Yummm! The cheese made it so good. Perfect comfort food.
Totally agree! The cheese just makes everything better. Can’t wait to try this recipe!
My sauce didn’t coat evenly at first, I had to keep stirring like an hour (jk, like 2 minutes). Anyway, it turned out good. Would make again.
Haha I know that feeling—sometimes the sauce grabs at first. Glad it worked out though! Did you end up adding a splash of pasta water or just keep stirring?
Gnocchi is too soft for me. Not a good dish, sorry!
Soo easy! But I used store-bought gnocchi from the frozen section and it still worked great.
That’s great! I’ve always used homemade gnocchi, but now I gotta try this frozen one.
Store-bought? I don’t know… that ain’t the same as making it from scratch. Might taste like cardboard.
I’m not sure about the vodka sauce, kinda sounds weird for gnocchi. Might stick to marinara…
It’s okay, but my sister makes it better. Just saying… 🤷♂️
Not bad, but 15-20 minutes felt a little short for me. I left it in 25 and it browned more. Still good comfort food.
This is the best gnocchi I’ve ever made! So cheesy and delicious. Definitely a 5-star recipe!
Yum! I followed the recipe almost exactly… just added some sausage for more flavor.
375°F seems too high for gnocchi… I baked 20 minutes and the bottom got a bit dry. Maybe reduce to 15?
Yeah, 375°F can be a little intense for gnocchi. I’d try 15 min first and just watch for bubbly cheese—if it looks dry, cover loosely with foil.
I don’t think it’s the temp, more the brand/size of the gnocchi. Mine stayed soft at 375, but I also had extra sauce to keep it from drying out.
Too much cheese! I don’t think this needed all that mozzarella. Next time I’ll cut back.
Wow, the cheese on top makes it sooo good!! Yummy!
So easy to make and the flavors were on point! Perfect weeknight dinner!
Sounds nice, but isn’t vodka sauce a bit weird for gnocchi? I dunno…
I tried this last night and it was soooo good! My family loved it! ❤️
So good! I used leftover spaghetti sauce instead and it worked out fine. Cheese makes everything better!
I was skeptical about baking it after sautéing… but it came out with a really nice texture. The gnocchi stayed tender, not mushy.
Not a fan… tasted kinda weird to me. 🤔
Super easy and really yummy! I added some spinach and it was great! Thanks for sharing.
Tried this tonight—super comforting. The gnocchi got nice and toasty in the skillet, and the cheese came out bubbly like the picture. I added a pinch of chili flakes too. Will make again!
I don’t see why people love gnocchi so much. This was just okay. 😕
This is the kind of recipe you can’t really mess up. I had mozzarella only, skipped parmesan, and it was still cheesy heaven.
Why vodka sauce? Can I use ketchup instead? Asking for a friend. 😂
Why not try it! My friend puts ketchup in everything. 🤷♂️
Ketchup would totally ruin it! Vodka sauce has that yummy creamy taste. 😂
Meh, needed more flavor. I’d add garlic next time. Plus, too much cheese!!!
Not sure about the vodka sauce. I used tomato sauce instead and it turned out fine.
I was skeptical about vodka sauce with gnocchi, but it actually works. Surprised!
meh. i used wrong cheese—like low melt—so it didn’t get bubbly. Also my sauce was kind of watery. Might try again with better parm and thicker sauce.
Ugh, yeah low-melt cheese would definitely stop the “bubbly” part. I’ve made it with pre-shredded mozz before and it was sad too—using fresh mozz + proper parm helps a lot. Also for the watery sauce: simmer it a few minutes to reduce before baking and it’ll cling better to the gnocchi.
meh agree on watery sauce, but i think 375 is too low? mine needs more like 425 to really brown and thicken. also why vodka sauce like, why not marinara lol
Baked Gnocchi?? I expected it to be crunchy, it wasn’t. How come?
I tried it but the vodka sauce was too strong for me. Maybe I’ll adjust it next time.
Strong? Really? I thought it was just perfect! But I guess we all have different tastes.
I totally get that! The vodka can be a bit much. Maybe try using less sauce or adding more cheese next time!
One word: meh. The gnocchi got kinda soft and the dish felt greasy. I think I used too much oil.
This recipe is so easy! My kids loved it!
I don’t have vodka sauce, can I use spaghetti sauce instead?
Tried this tonight—so easy and the cheese gets perfectly bubbly. I used jarred vodka sauce and it still tasted super legit. Will make again!
This was sooo good! My family loved it! Will make again for sure.
I dunno… I tried it but it just didn’t taste right. Maybe I messed up the sauce?
I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s a favorite in my house too! 😊
The directions are simple, but I don’t get why sauté the gnocchi first if you’re just baking them anyway. Still tasty though—my mozzarella browned nicely.
Did I miss something? You say vodka sauce but what about real vodka? Whatcha mean? 😂
I thought you had to put like, actual vodka in there too? So what’s the point then? 🤔
Haha, no real vodka needed! It’s just called vodka sauce for flavor. Trust me, it’s delish without the booze! 🍝
This was AMAZING! The vodka sauce really adds a rich flavor. My family loved it!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The vodka sauce really does elevate the dish. Perfect for family dinners!
Took longer than expected to cook. Maybe I did somethin wrong? 🤷♂️
This was amazing! My kids loved it more than pizza! Will make again for sure. 😊
Not sure about this one… Gnocchi with vodka sauce? Seems a bit odd… But I guess to each their own?
I get what you mean, but believe me, it’s super tasty! Vodka sauce on gnocchi is amazing! You gotta try it before judging. 😊
IDK, man. Just not feeling the vodka sauce with gnocchi. Gave it a try but it was too strange.
I totally get it! Vodka sauce is an acquired taste, especially with gnocchi. Not everyone’s cup of tea!
This recipe is amazing! So creamy and delicious! My kids loved it. Will definitely make again!
I dunno, seems a bit fancy for gnocchi. Can you really call it ‘amazing’? Just pasta with sauce, right?
I’m so glad to hear your kids loved it! This dish has such a comfort-food vibe! 😍 Definitely a hit!
I messed up the salt—went too heavy with the jarred sauce already salty. Still edible though. Maybe taste the sauce before seasoning.
Oof, that’s so relatable 😅 Jarred sauces are already seasoned—good call on realizing it. Next time, just add salt last (or at the very end after baking). Still glad it was edible!
Honestly I feel like “to taste salt” is always a trap. I would skip salt entirely until you taste the sauce by itself—otherwise you end up with salty gnocchi. Could even add a splash of water or a bit more plain sauce/cheese to mellow it next time.
I followed it and my cheese didn’t really get bubbly… maybe my oven runs cold? I ended up broiling for 2 minutes and it fixed it.
Totally sounds like oven temp. 375°F should bubble a bit—if it runs cold, the cheese just melts instead of getting that golden/bubbly look. I’m glad broiling saved it though!
Maybe your sauce was too wet? Like if the vodka sauce is runny, the cheese kinda sinks in. Also I think broil is only for like… 30 seconds max? 2 minutes might burn the top fast. Next time try higher heat or less sauce on the bottom.
Not sure why everyone loves vodka sauce so much—mine tasted kinda flat. I should’ve added more salt and pepper, ‘cause I didn’t wanna ruin it. Also, my mozzarella didn’t get very stretchy 😕
Ugh, I’m sorry it came out flat 😕 Vodka sauce can be super dependent on the brand—some jarred ones just don’t have much seasoning. Next time I’d definitely salt the sauce itself (and add pepper while it simmers in the skillet). Also, for stretch, make sure the mozzarella is fresh/shredded thick-cut and not super dry—I’ve found pre-shredded can get a little sad like that.
Why would you use vodka in food? That’s for drinking! Anyway, it tasted okay.
I think this is too much cheese. Felt like a heart attack on a plate 😬.
Made this tonight and it was comfort-food perfection. The baked step really gives the cheese that bubbly top. I used jarred vodka sauce and it still tasted homemade!
Yes! That bubbly cheese top is the best part—love how it turns out super comforting. I’m glad jarred sauce still worked for you 😊
This is one of those recipes that’s “fine” unless you add something. I tossed in some garlic and red pepper flakes and it went from bland to wow.
I didn’t have vodka sauce so used marinara. Still came out good tho!
Too much cheese! 🤢 I like cheese but not when it’s like a cheese mountain. I might skip some.
Maybe try using less cheese next time? It can ruin the whole dish if it’s overloaded! 🤷♂️
Y’all, I think I burnt mine. Can someone tell me how you keep it from getting crispy? Didn’t taste bad tho.
So easy to make! I made it with store-bought gnocchi, but I’ll try homemade next time!
This was okay. My gnocchi got a bit mushy in the pan even though I only sautéed 3 minutes. Maybe I overcrowded the skillet. Sauce was tasty though.
Oh no—mushy gnocchi is the worst. I think overcrowding is probably it. I usually do a bigger skillet or work in batches so they can brown instead of steaming. Glad the sauce still hit though!
Interesting. Mine never gets mushy unless I boil them too long? If you sautéed 3 minutes, maybe the gnocchi was still wet from the drain or the pan was too hot. Also vodka sauce jarred can be super thick—add a splash of water so it doesn’t cook the gnocchi too aggressively.
5 stars!! Super easy and delicious! Cheese on top made it perfection.
I love this dish too! It’s so creamy and cheesy. Perfect comfort food! 😍
Honestly, the vodka sauce + gnocchi combo is already great, but baking it for 20 mins felt like it dried things out a bit. Next time I’ll maybe cover it with foil for the first 10 minutes.
Meh. I’ve had better dishes. This one just didn’t wow me. Gnocchi was kinda mushy.
5/5 comfort food. My family went back for seconds. I skipped salting because my sauce was already salty, and that was the right call.
Yummy! I add some spinach. Good to sneak in veggies! 😋
I’m skeptical about vodka sauce + gnocchi baked together… but wow, it works. I sautéed until golden like the instructions and it held up better than usual.
My gnocchi got a little too golden in step 3, but honestly it still worked. Next time I’ll watch it closer. Flavor was great, though!
375°F seems low to me? Like, wouldn’t it just warm the sauce and not really bake? I might be overthinking it, but mine barely browned even after extra time.
I get what you mean, but 375°F isn’t really “too low” for this. The gnocchi are already cooked, so the bake is mostly to melt/bubble the cheese and lightly heat everything through—not to brown like a roast. If yours didn’t brown, I’d crank it closer to 400–425°F for the last 5 minutes (or broil for 1–2 min) and make sure the dish isn’t too full so the top can dry out a bit.
Delicious! Best gnocchi recipe ever. Wil definitely make again for friends this weekend!
I tried it and it was super easy! My kids loved it too.
Not sure. Can you really make gnocchi with store-bought? Seems like cheating to me.
The amount of cheese is great, but 15–20 minutes felt a little short for my oven. I needed closer to 25 to get that golden top.
The instructions are straightforward, but I thought the vodka sauce would be too watery. It wasn’t—once baked it thickened nicely. Good call.
Pretty solid, but 15–20 minutes felt a little long for my oven (cheese browned too fast). Next time I’ll start checking at like 12 minutes.
Honestly I don’t get the point of baking it. The cheese could melt on the stove, but whatever—my casserole dish made it prettier I guess.
I followed it mostly, but I forgot to sauté the gnocchi first and I just mixed everything in the baking dish. It still tasted good, just not as golden. Add the sauté step!
Tried this tonight and it was super comforting. The oven step really makes the cheese all melty and cohesive. I used store-bought vodka sauce and it still tasted fancy—would make again!
So glad it worked for you! Totally agree—the oven time makes everything melt together way better than stovetop alone. 😊
Not bad at all—375°F worked great and 18 minutes was perfect for bubbly cheese. Next time I’ll add a pinch of red pepper flakes because it tasted a little mild for me.
I made this and followed the temps exactly but my gnocchi came out kinda mushy. Maybe I overcooked them earlier? Also, mozzarella didn’t get as bubbly as I hoped.
That sounds frustrating! If they turned mushy, it usually means they got cooked too long *before* baking or sat in hot sauce a bit too long in the skillet. Next time, try draining right on time and only sautéing until they’re just starting to color (2-3 min can tip into overcooked fast). As for the mozzarella, shredded can dry out—I’d use part-skim or full-fat and maybe add it a touch closer to the end (or broil 1-2 minutes).
Why vodka sauce? I don’t get the whole vodka thing, it’s mostly for flavor I guess. I used plain marinara and it still tasted fine, so maybe it’s flexible.
This is a cookbook classic! My grandma used to make something similar. Thanks for sharing!
I wasn’t sure about baking it after sautéing, but the result was really comforting. The vodka sauce really comes through. Five stars from me.
I was on the fence too, but once I tried it—same deal. The baked step really makes it cozy and the vodka sauce flavor sticks around. Glad you loved it!
Wait… you sauté then bake? I always just simmer it with the sauce. But if the cheese gets all bubbly like that, I might try your way. Also jarred sauce can be surprisingly good, ngl.
