Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus Bundles

April 9, 2024

Bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles are a delightful side dish that combines two of the best flavors: crispy, savory bacon and fresh, tender asparagus. This dish is easy to prepare, yet it looks and tastes elegant enough to impress at any dinner table. Whether you’re serving it for a holiday meal, a weeknight dinner, or as part of a barbecue spread, it’s sure to be a hit.

To make this dish, start by selecting fresh asparagus. Choose thick spears for the best texture and flavor. Trim the ends, and blanch the asparagus in boiling water for just a few minutes until it’s bright green and slightly tender. This quick blanching ensures that the asparagus cooks evenly when wrapped in bacon, while still maintaining a crisp bite.

Once your asparagus is ready, gather a bundle of 4-5 spears and wrap them tightly with a slice of bacon. Use toothpicks to secure the bacon in place, ensuring it doesn’t unravel while cooking. The combination of the smoky bacon and the earthy asparagus creates a perfect contrast of flavors that complement each other beautifully.

Next, arrange the bundles on a baking sheet, drizzle with a little olive oil, and season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and any additional herbs or spices you like. Some people love adding garlic powder, a drizzle of honey for sweetness, or even a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Bake the bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is cooked to your liking. The bacon will crisp up perfectly while the asparagus inside stays tender and flavorful.

These bundles are fantastic served with roasted meats, grilled fish, or as part of a festive spread. The crispy bacon on the outside and tender asparagus inside make for a mouthwatering combination that’s hard to resist.

Bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles are a simple yet flavorful side dish that’s sure to elevate any meal with minimal effort!

Bacon + asparagus? Perfect combo! I didn’t even know I liked asparagus until I tried this.

  3. 5 stars
These were incredible! The bacon just takes it to a whole new level. Will make again for sure!

Bacon is a favorite but asparagus is weird. My kids didn’t eat them. Next time, I’ll just do bacon on its own.

  5. 3 stars
This seems too fancy for me. Can I just use any bacon? Also, does asparagus taste good? Like, why wrap it?

Bacon goood, asparagus ehh. I don’t get why people eat greens when you can just eat bacon.

I think bacon is best for breakfast only, not really for veggies. Not my favorite.

Hmm… Not sure if bacon and asparagus go together, but my husband loved them. I just don’t see the point.

Quick and easy! I added some garlic powder and it was delish!

  12. 3 stars
These look good, but can you use turkey bacon instead? Don’t eat pork.

    1. 2 stars
But turkey bacon isn’t the same as real bacon. Why not just try a different recipe? This is kinda pointless.

You can totally use turkey bacon! Just make sure to watch the baking time since it might need a little adjustment. Yum!

  13. User avatar nancee.cassin says:

Honestly, I thought this was a bit too greasy. The bacon overpowered the asparagus.

I get what you’re saying! Bacon can be really intense for some dishes. Maybe try less bacon next time?

Yum!! A bit salty for my taste but I still liked it.

Not bad, but kinda hard to wrap the bacon? Any tips? Maybe it’s just me.

  16. 5 stars
Tasted amazing! I used thick cut bacon and it was perfect! Made it for a party and it was gone in minutes.

  17. 2 stars
I don’t know, wrapping bacon around veggies feels weird. My kids wouldn’t even touch it. Maybe just cook the asparagus alone?

  18. User avatar ronnie.effertz2 says:

    3 stars
Too salty for my taste, maybe I overdid it with the bacon. Next time, less bacon!

  19. User avatar ardella.oconner1995 says:

Tried this recipe, and the bacon didn’t cook properly. It was kinda chewy, not crispy at all. Really bummed.

Interesting idea, but my bacon burned while the asparagus was still a bit raw. Maybe lower the heat?

    1. 4 stars
Burnt bacon sounds rough! I usually check on them halfway and rotate to avoid that. Lower heat might help too. Good luck next time!

Asparagus is so bitter. I didn’t like it wrapped in bacon. Thought that would help, but nah.
