Some dips are tasty, and some dips are unforgettable. Million Dollar Dip falls squarely into the second category. Also called Cheddar Bacon Cream Cheese Dip, this indulgent spread has all the ingredients of something you’ll crave again and again-sharp cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, green onions, and a creamy, tangy base. Whether you serve it with crackers, chips, or crunchy vegetables, this dip is guaranteed to disappear fast.
The origin of the name “Million Dollar Dip” speaks to its irresistible flavor. It tastes like it’s worth a million bucks, rich, creamy, and packed with bold, satisfying ingredients. Some versions use mayonnaise as the creamy base, while others lean into cream cheese for extra thickness and tang. Either way, the texture is smooth and spreadable, perfect for scooping onto crackers or stuffing into celery sticks.
Cheddar cheese gives the dip a sharp, nutty kick, while bacon adds a smoky crunch that takes things to the next level. The green onions or chives offer just enough brightness to balance out the richness, making every bite layered with flavor. Optional add-ins like garlic powder, slivered almonds, or a dash of hot sauce can elevate it even further.
What makes Million Dollar Dip so beloved, aside from the flavor, is how easy it is to make. No baking or complicated steps required. Just stir everything together, chill it for a bit so the flavors meld, and it’s ready to go. It’s the kind of dish you can throw together 15 minutes before guests arrive and still impress everyone.
Perfect for game day, potlucks, family gatherings, or even late-night snacking, this dip is a go-to for casual entertaining. It’s also easy to double or triple the batch when you’re feeding a crowd.
In short, Million Dollar Dip is comfort food in a bowl-rich, creamy, a little salty, and totally addictive. Once you make it, it’s almost guaranteed to earn a permanent spot in your appetizer rotation.

Honestly, “a million dollar” is dramatic but it IS really good. I added a little black pepper and it tasted like a party dip from a restaurant.
Yes!! I’m obsessed with this dip—black pepper is such a good call. A “party dip” is exactly what it is 😄
My kids didn’t like it, but me and my friends thought it was great. Weird, right?
This dip is to die for! Super creamy and just the right amount of bacon. Definitely a crowd-pleaser!
I added some salsa to it and it was bomb!
I didn’t have bacon bits, so I used real bacon I cooked. It was way better! Not sure about the sour cream tho.
This dip is an absolute game-changer! So rich and creamy. Perfect at parties!
I made this for a potluck, and it got devoured quickly! Just a little too garlicky for my taste though.
This dip was SO good! Everyone loved it at the party! Definitely a keeper.
Tried it exactly as written. It was good, but I found it a bit salty (maybe my bacon bits were extra salty). Still ate all of it though.
I tried making this, but my cream cheese didn’t soften properly. The texture was awful and I ended up just throwing it away. 😞
This dip was a hit at my party! Everyone wanted the recipe. Definitely worth trying!
A million dollar? More like a billion dollar! Loved it!
Idk about “1 block” cream cheese… I bought 8 oz and also 1 lb, then panicked. Taste was good once I fixed it, but the labeling could be clearer. Also, I used low-sodium sour cream and it was a little bland.
Yummy! But I added spicy jalapenos for a kick! 🔥
Yum!!! Can’t stop eating it! 😋
Yum! Just made it for game night and it was gone in minutes! 🏈
Is this really worth a million dollars?? 😂 Just seems like any other dip to me.
Honestly, it’s just a dip. I don’t see how it can be a million dollars worth! 😂
I don’t know, it’s just cream cheese and bacon… kinda overrated if you ask me.
Great recipe! I added some jalapeños for a kick! 🌶️🔥
It’s okay, but cream cheese dips are kinda all the same to me. Didn’t blow my mind, but I’d make it again for convenience.
I don’t get the hype. The bacon bits overwhelmed everything for me and the garlic powder was too strong. Maybe cut bacon down next time.
Totally fair—bacon bits can be super salty/intense. I’d try cutting them down (even half) and maybe use a little less garlic powder too. Next time, start with 1/2 tsp garlic and taste as you go.
Made this for a game night and it disappeared FAST. Super creamy, the bacon bits really make it feel “million dollar.” I chilled it first and it was even better.
Made this for a potluck and it vanished fast. Everyone kept asking for the recipe. I used tortilla chips and it was perfect.
Million Dollar Dip? More like a million calories! But I can’t say I didn’t enjoy every bite. Worth it!
I dunno, seems kinda fattening with all the cheese and bacon. I think I’ll skip this one.
Meh, taste was okay but not worth all the hype. I think it needs more flavor or something.
I dunno, I made it and thought it was really good. You sure you followed the recipe? 🤔
I thought it was amazing! Maybe try adding more spices next time? It could really kick it up a notch!
I don’t get why everyone loves this so much. It was okay, I guess? Just tasted like cheese.
This is basically loaded nacho cheese dip, right? I guess that’s not a bad thing. I served it with tortilla chips and it held up great.
Yummmmm. Bacon makes everything better! Can’t wait to make this for the game night!
ugh this looks heavy, I’m trying to lose weight. But maybe weekend treat! LOL
Not gonna lie, “a million dollar” is a bold claim… but it’s definitely a solid party dip. Could’ve used slightly more green onion for freshness.
I followed it pretty closely—maybe used a bit less bacon—and it still tasted amazing. Next time I’ll add more green onions because I love that fresh bite.
I mean… bacon bits, cheddar, cream cheese—yeah that’s gonna taste amazing no matter what. I did it once and mine was a little too salty though, so I’d watch the bacon amount.
This sounds dangerously good 😄 I’m definitely doing the extra green onions next time too—fresh bite makes it pop.
Made this for game night and it was gone in like 10 minutes. Creamy, salty, and the bacon bits actually taste “real” (not that sad fake stuff). Would absolutely make again.
super easy to make, but like why call it million dollar? It’s just a dip!
Made this for my kids. They loved it. Super easy and fast to make. Can’t go wrong!
I don’t trust dips with only a few ingredients called “a million dollar.” sounds like marketing lol. But I’ll admit, it’s pretty addictive.
Easy to make! But I think it needs a bit more garlic or some spice.
umm i added extra sour cream and now it’s like soup 😭 still tastes good tho. maybe i shoulda chilled it longer? not sure
Idk… I used regular bacon bits (not real) and it tasted kinda salty. Might be fine if you use the right kind. Would make again but adjust salt.
I tried it with the cheap bacon bits once and same thing… came out way too salty. Next time I’ll use the recipe’s “real” ones or cut back on the garlic/poke in a little more sour cream to balance.
Good call on the bacon bits—real bacon bits can be way saltier than the “regular” ones. I’d definitely start with less and taste as you go.
Not sure about the green onions in it. Could have used something else?
