Teriyaki Beef and Mixed Greens Salad

August 9, 2023

Teriyaki Beef and Mixed Greens Salad is a delicious, light, and refreshing dish that balances the rich, savory flavors of teriyaki-marinated beef with the crisp, fresh texture of mixed greens. Perfect for a quick lunch or a light dinner, this salad is both satisfying and packed with vibrant flavors.

Start by preparing the beef, using a tender cut like flank steak or sirloin. Marinate the beef in a mixture of teriyaki sauce, garlic, ginger, and a bit of honey or brown sugar for added sweetness. Let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to soak in. Once marinated, grill or pan-sear the beef over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your preferred level of doneness. Allow the beef to rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

For the salad, choose a mix of fresh greens like spinach, arugula, and baby kale. Add in some crunchy vegetables like cucumber, bell peppers, and shredded carrots. If you like a bit of sweetness, you can also include mandarin orange segments or thinly sliced apples for an extra burst of flavor.

To dress the salad, whisk together a simple vinaigrette made from rice vinegar, sesame oil, a splash of soy sauce, and a touch of honey or brown sugar to enhance the teriyaki flavors. If you want a little heat, a dash of chili flakes or a drizzle of chili oil works beautifully.

Once everything is prepared, toss the greens and vegetables together in the dressing, then top with the thinly sliced teriyaki beef. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and a sprinkle of cilantro or mint for added freshness.

This Teriyaki Beef and Mixed Greens Salad is a balanced meal that’s both hearty and refreshing, combining tender beef with fresh vegetables and a flavorful dressing. It’s perfect for meal prep or a quick, nutritious weeknight dinner.

This is such a solid weeknight dinner—quick marinade, minimal prep, and the beef + crunchy veggies combo is perfect. I added a little sesame oil just because, and it tasted restaurant-level.

I think it’s delicious! The teriyaki sauce makes everything taste better, even greens!

I dunno, mixing beef with greens sounds weird. Do people really eat that? I prefer my beef alone.

I didn’t have cucumber, used pickles instead. LOL! Still turned out pretty good!

Too much teriyaki sauce, ruined it for me. Next time less sauce.

I thought the sauce was perfect! Maybe just adjust it for your taste next time. Everyone has different preferences.

Less sauce? Nah, the teriyaki gives it that nice kick! But I guess some folks like it plain… 🤷‍♀️

Tried something like this before and it was really good. The 10-minute marinate seems short though—still, thin slices cook fast so it probably works.

    1. User avatar Grandpa Gohan says:

I was skeptical about the 10-minute marinate too, but thin slices definitely take flavor fast. I did mine closer to 15 just because and it was great—quick weeknight win!

    2. 2 stars
10 minutes? That seems way too short—like the beef won’t get any teriyaki taste inside. I’d marinate at least an hour. Also I think you’re supposed to cook the almonds with the beef? Not sure.

  6. 3 stars
I tried it, but the beef was too chewy. Maybe I cooked it too long? 🤔

Horrible! My family didn’t like it at all. Beef didn’t mix well with the veggies.

  8. 5 stars
This salad was a hit at my dinner party! The teriyaki flavor with the beef is simply amazing. I will definitely make it again!

  9. User avatar Hotblack Desiato says:

Absolutely delicious! The teriyaki sauce gives it such a nice flavor. Will definitely make this again!

I’m not sure about mixing warm beef into delicate greens without wilting. Anyone do it and keep it fresh?

  11. 1 star
What’s with the fancy ingredients? Just use BBQ sauce, it’s better and easier.

    1. User avatar tom.schuppe19 says:

BBQ sauce is good, but have you tried teriyaki? It adds a sweet and savory twist! Just saying!

  12. User avatar cliff.batz90 says:

Honestly, I found this kinda bland. The beef overcooked and I should’ve added more spice or something. Not sure I’ll try again.

    1. 2 stars
Bland? Really? I thought teriyaki sauce had flavor. You must’ve made it wrong, dude.

    2. User avatar jarrett.lueilwitz says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! Sometimes beef can turn out tough if overcooked. Maybe try searing it less next time. And yeah, spices can really bring the flavor up a notch!

Isn’t teriyaki chicken more common? Why beef? 🤨 Anyway, I gave it a try and it was good.

    1. User avatar jovita.ledner45 says:

      5 stars
I think both are awesome! But beef has a nice flavor that chicken doesn’t have. Glad you liked it! 😊

  14. 2 stars
Kinda bland for my taste. I wish it had more spices or something. Not the best salad I’ve tried.

  15. 5 stars
This salad was a hit at my dinner party! The flavors are so good together. 😍

Teriyaki on steak in a salad? Honestly I don’t love sweet sauces, but this might convert me. Carrots + cucumbers sound refreshing.

    1. 5 stars
I love this combo—teriyaki on steak cuts through the fresh greens nicely. Sweet sauces can be hit or miss, but 1/4 cup seems like the right amount so it doesn’t overpower. Carrots + cucumber really do add a great crunch!

    2. User avatar roberto.cremin says:

      2 stars
Not sure about teriyaki on salad… sweet sauce on steak + cucumbers? Idk. Also “marinate 10 minutes” feels too short for beef slices, should be longer. Still, I’d try it once I guess.

I never thought teriyaki would go well in a salad! So glad I gave it a chance. Will make again!

    1. 5 stars

I don’t know about this. Teriyaki beef salad just seems weird to me. Can’t imagine mixing meats with salad.

    1. 4 stars
I totally get where you’re coming from! It does sound kinda odd, but have you tried it? Sometimes mixing things can be surprisingly good!

Meat in salad? Nah, sounds gross. Stick to normal salads, like ceaser or somethin!
