Pastry Shaped Mummy Brie is a fun, spooky, and indulgent Halloween appetizer that’s sure to impress guests at any party. This savory treat features a wheel of creamy Brie cheese wrapped in buttery, golden puff pastry, shaped to resemble a mummy. As it bakes, the pastry becomes crisp and flaky, encasing the rich, melty Brie that oozes deliciously when cut into. As the Brie bakes in the oven, the pastry turns golden and crisp, while the cheese inside becomes gooey and melt-in-your-mouth.

To bring the mummy to life, a pair of edible candy eyes are placed on the exposed part of the Brie, giving it that spooky yet cute Halloween touch. These eyes add just the right amount of fun and personality to the dish, making it a standout centerpiece for your party spread.

Pastry Shaped Mummy Brie is not only visually striking but also incredibly easy to prepare. With just a few ingredients like Brie cheese, puff pastry, and candy eyes, you can create a showstopper that will have guests talking. The creamy Brie contrasts perfectly with the flaky pastry, and the combination of savory and buttery flavors is sure to please a crowd.

This dish is perfect for serving with crackers, fresh fruits like apple slices, or even vegetables for dipping. The melted Brie pairs beautifully with a variety of accompaniments, from sweet fruit preserves to tangy mustard or honey. This was a hit at my Halloween party! The brie was gooey and delicious.

  10. 5 stars
Okay, I did exactly this and it was easier than I expected. Puff pastry is basically cheat codes.

I don’t like Brie. Can I use another cheese?

  12. 3 stars
Followed the recipe, but my pastry didn’t puff up right! Any tips?

Meh, it was alright. Looks more impressive than it tastes, if I’m honest.

Looks fun but my pastry turned soggy. What went wrong??) Anyone else have that problem?

  15. User avatar harley.lind65 says:

    3 stars
I’m skeptical about the honey—felt too sweet for brie. I ended up using only 1 tsp and that helped. If you like sweet, you’ll probably love it.

  16. User avatar lara.thiel29 says:

    5 stars
Mmm yummy! I dipped it in marinara sauce. So good!

  17. User avatar lyndon.hettinger82 says:

Honestly, I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with Brie. This recipe looks silly.

  18. User avatar Valentine Gorczany says:

Tried it for Halloween and it was a hit! Everyone wanted the recipe. 🕷️🥳

  19. User avatar kamala.rath81 says:

Like, where do you even find candy eyes? I just used some chocolate chips. Still cool!

  20. User avatar Hasimir Fenring says:

    3 stars
Do you really think the honey is a good idea? Seems like it might be too sweet for the cheese.

  21. 2 stars
Umm, can you even eat brie? That’s cheese, right? I’d rather try another recipe.

  22. User avatar corrinne.crona says:

    5 stars
Great for kids! My little ones loved it. We pretended it was real mummies!

  23. User avatar merrill.rosenbaum84 says:

    2 stars
Why honey? I feel like brie already tastes good. I might swap it for jam or nothing next time.

  24. User avatar lavinia.smith1961 says:

    3 stars
Idk, 8 ounces brie felt a bit small for the pastry sheet I had. I ended up trimming and it was fine, just more work than I thought.

  25. 2 stars
I’m not sure about the honey. It tastes kinda weird with brie? Like, I wanted it to be more savory. Maybe next time I’ll use less or do rosemary instead.

  26. User avatar lenna.christiansen says:

    4 stars
The instructions were easy, but my puff pastry tore a bit when I tried to wrap the brie. I just patched it like a “mummy,” and it still looked fine. Flavor is amazing.

    1. 5 stars
That’s such a good save—patching it “mummy style” is totally on theme. I’m glad it still baked up golden and the flavor was amazing!

    2. User avatar lupe.fisher2026 says:

      4 stars
Mine tore too, I think I didn’t thaw it enough? Also my honey kind of burned a little at 400F, next time I’ll do less. Still tastes great though, love the mummy idea.

  27. User avatar billy.bins1961 says:

    4 stars
Honey on brie sounds strange… does it really go well together?

    1. User avatar lucas.west1974 says:

      5 stars
Yes, it really does! The sweetness of the honey really complements the creaminess of the brie. You should give it a try!

  28. User avatar alvaro.hermann4 says:

    5 stars
This was sooo good! My family loved it and it’s super easy to make!

  29. 3 stars
It tasted okay, but the pastry didn’t cook evenly. Some parts were soggy.

    1. User avatar ariana.hyatt13 says:

      3 stars
I’ve had that happen too! Maybe the oven isn’t calibrated right? Phooey.

  30. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

    5 stars
So cute and way easier than I expected—my puff pastry definitely puffed up nicely. The honey + brie combo is the real win.

  31. 5 stars
Super easy and it looks way harder than it is. My kids absolutely loved it and asked for it again at Thanksgiving (yes, really).

  32. 4 stars
I tried it and it was delicious! The puff pastry was flaky and paired so well with the Brie.

    1. 5 stars
I never thought Brie could taste this good! Gonna try it for Halloween parties! 🎃

  33. User avatar jacques.nitzsche2023 says:

    3 stars
Um, can ya just use cheddar instead of brie? I mean, who really eats that stuff? 🤔

  34. User avatar jackie.wunsch89 says:

    1 star
I thought Brie was a type of bread? Why are we wrapping cheese? Confused.

  35. User avatar hazel.kirlin58 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about putting honey on cheese. Seemed weird to me and honestly tasted kinda strange.

    1. User avatar nella.hettinger6 says:

      5 stars
I thought the honey with cheese was a great combo! It adds a nice sweetness to the creamy brie. Give it another try!

  36. User avatar billy.grimes says:

    2 stars
Mummy cheese, yum! But my eyes melted… 😭

  37. 2 stars
Not sure about the honey amount. “1 tablespoon or to taste” made me go rogue and I regret it—too sticky/sweet. Still good, just unbalanced.

    1. User avatar shelton.durgan37 says:

      5 stars
Ugh I feel you. I also did “to taste” once and it ended up syrupy. Next time I’d start with like 1/2 tbsp and see—honey can overpower the brie fast.

    2. 4 stars
“Too sticky/sweet” sounds exactly like too much honey on brie. I usually drizzle lightly—barely a sheen—so it still browns without turning into dessert vibes.

  38. User avatar cassie.cronin30 says:

    2 stars
I don’t like honey. Can I skip it? Or will it ruin the taste?

  39. User avatar Super Saiyan Goku says:

    5 stars
So, so cute! I took it to a potluck and it disappeared in minutes! Thanks for the recipe!

    1. 5 stars
I’m so glad it was a hit! This recipe is super easy and fun to make! 🥳

  40. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

      2 stars
A hit? Really? I dunno, honey on brie sounds weird to me.

Aunt Sally would love this recipe! But isn’t Brie French? Why honey?

  43. User avatar leopoldo.donnelly13 says:

    5 stars
Brie is life! Would be great with some dried cranberries too, I think.

  44. User avatar Dremora Lord says:

    3 stars
Was tasty but hideous looking. Next time I will try to wrap it better! 😂

  45. User avatar Wonko the Sane says:

    5 stars
Lol this is dangerously easy. I made it for a party and it disappeared immediately. Next time I’ll add a little black pepper or herbs on the brie before baking.

  46. 3 stars
I mean… candy eyes on brie is kinda weird, but also I couldn’t stop laughing. Next time I’ll do fewer strips so it doesn’t get too thick.

  47. User avatar trish.okon says:

    4 stars
Mine leaked honey a bit and got a little messy on the pan, but it still tasted amazing. Next time I’ll use a light hand with the honey.

  48. User avatar bryce.rice29 says:

    2 stars
This took way longer than 20 min to bake. What gives?

    1. User avatar jeromy.davis69 says:

      4 stars
I’ve had the same issue! Sometimes ovens aren’t accurate. Maybe your oven temp was off? I always double-check mine.

  49. User avatar stanton.oconnell says:

    2 stars
400°F is maybe too high? Mine browned fast on the edges but the center was still kinda melty. I might try 375°F next time. The concept is cute though.

    1. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—400°F can brown puff pastry *fast*. I usually keep an eye on it around 12–15 min and pull it when it’s just golden. 375°F sounds like a great tweak so the brie gets melty without over-browning.

  50. 5 stars
Baked this for my book club, and they raved about it! So easy. 10/10!

  51. 3 stars
Like, how do you even get those eyes to stick? Mine just fell off. 🤔

  52. User avatar darrell.mitchell46 says:

    3 stars
I tried this but burned the pastry. Maybe reduce the time for my oven? 🤷‍♀️

  53. User avatar tory.barton87 says:

    4 stars
Tried it tonight and it was a hit. The instructions are straightforward, but my pastry tore once when I cut the strips—still worked though. Next time I’ll wrap a bit more carefully.

  54. User avatar robin.collier1954 says:

    5 stars
This is so cute! I made it for a Halloween party and everyone loved it. Super easy too!

  55. User avatar lexie.kihn says:

    4 stars
Pretty cute for a party. I used a little more honey than the recipe said and it was gooey in a good way. Took about 18 minutes in my oven.

  56. User avatar trevor.klein56 says:

    5 stars
My kids loved making these! Super easy and fun! Will definitely make again!

    1. User avatar Draugr Deathlord says:

      2 stars
I dunno, sounds a bit messy. My kids usually just eat the honey without cooking haha.

    2. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

      5 stars
That sounds awesome! My kids would love this too! How fun to make together. Thanks for sharing!

  57. 5 stars
Looks cute! I made it for my daughters school event and she loved it. Super fun project!

  58. User avatar tiera.wehner2013 says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute Halloween appetizer! The brie gets all melty and the pastry turns perfectly golden—mine was done closer to 18 minutes. Kids loved the candy eyes too. 🧀👀

  59. User avatar edmundo.crona says:

    4 stars
My kids loved making this! They called it ‘Mummified Cheese’. Super fun!

  60. User avatar fermin.orn89 says:

    2 stars
Kinda complicated for me.. I just wanna eat, not decorate. Can’t we just bake the cheese? 😂

  61. User avatar lavone.kuhn57 says:

    5 stars
Yum! I love brie. 🍯 Would recomend to everyone!

  62. User avatar randolph.schiller24 says:

    2 stars
I don’t know, it looks cute but is it really tasty? Brie cheese is just not for me.

  63. User avatar dayna.weissnat11 says:

    2 stars
1 sheet puff pastry for an 8oz brie wheel—could be too small. I had to overlap more than I wanted. Also, brie is already soft so it made everything messy.

    1. User avatar rubin.larkin67 says:

      3 stars
Oof, yeah—8 oz brie can definitely feel tight with a single sheet. I’ve found wrapping works better if you use the full sheet width and overlap a bit less by positioning the brie slightly off-center. Sorry it got messy for you though 😕

  64. User avatar dominic.champlin says:

    4 stars
Came out alright but I think I wrapped it too tight. The cheese was almost gone! Next time I’ll do better.

    1. User avatar werner.kihn says:

      5 stars
Don’t worry! We all learn from our mistakes. Next time, just wrap it looser and enjoy that gooey cheese! 🧀

  65. User avatar Vroomfondel says:

    4 stars
So cute! My kids loved the candy eyes. Will make again!

    1. User avatar mohamed.bernhard says:

      5 stars
Awww, that’s awesome! My kids loved it too! Those candy eyes really make it fun.

  66. User avatar Chip Munk says:

    2 stars
Not gonna lie, I messed it up—my mummy wrap slid off and the brie leaked. Still tasted good though, just looked like a sad bandaged blob.

  67. 5 stars
Mmm, cheese and pastry?! Count me in. I’m drooling just looking at it!

  68. User avatar joane.cole9 says:

    4 stars
I don’t like brie, so I made it with cheddar. Still yummy!

    1. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

      5 stars
Cheddar sounds great too! I love trying different cheeses.

  69. User avatar anisha.jakubowski15 says:

    5 stars
This is seriously simple! I made it for a family gathering. Everyone loved it!!!

    1. 5 stars
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s always a hit at gatherings. Did you make any dips to go with it?

  70. 5 stars
This is ridiculously cute 😂 The mummy wrap on brie is such a fun Halloween appetizer. I used a little extra honey and it turned out perfect—pastry got super golden.

  71. 4 stars
Great recipe! Just be careful with the baking time. I burnt mine a little. 😅

  72. User avatar Gabriella says:

    1 star
Y’all, I thought Brie was a country. Never knew it was cheese!! 🤣

    1. User avatar thresa.kerluke1987 says:

      4 stars
Haha, I get it! Brie does sound like a fancy place. But trust me, it’s worth trying this recipe. It’s super yummy!

  73. 1 star
I made this last night and it was a disaster. The pastry burnt and the cheese was gooey. Not doing it again.

  74. User avatar Lyndon Koelpin says:

    2 stars
Meh, I’m not impressed. Just looks like a cheese wrapped in bread. Not worth the hype.

    1. User avatar ned.brown1992 says:

      4 stars
Honestly, I think it looks cool! You gotta try it before judging! Maybe you’ll change your mind. 😄

    2. User avatar miguel.pouros says:

      5 stars
I get what you mean, but it’s more about the flavors! The honey and brie combo is to die for! 🧀💖

  75. User avatar joann.bernier83 says:

    4 stars
The idea is awesome, but my mummy strips didn’t stick well and some unwrapped. Next time I’ll brush a tiny bit of water/egg to help them stay.

    1. User avatar kiyoko.hauck41 says:

      3 stars
Okay so mine toooo—some of the strips slid off 😅 I think my pastry was thawed but still kinda dry. I’ll try water/egg next time like you said. Candy eyes were cute tho!

    2. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

      5 stars
Love the concept! I did mine with a little egg wash on the pastry edges and it helped a ton—no unwrapping. Also make sure the brie isn’t too cold or the pastry gets weird.

  76. User avatar joe_banana says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute idea for Halloween! I can’t wait to make it for the party!

  77. 5 stars
Absolutely loved this! It was a hit at our Halloween party. Everyone got really excited about the mummy look.

  78. User avatar julietta.pfeffer4 says:

    3 stars
Just two candy eyes? Felt like I needed more for the mummy vibe. 🤔 More spooky!

  79. User avatar pete.bins60 says:

    5 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly and it came out great. I used a little less honey because I’m not a huge sweet-and-savory person, but it still tasted awesome. Would absolutely make again.

    1. User avatar roland.huels67 says:

      3 stars
I tried this once and my pastry went kinda soggy in the middle… maybe I left it in too long? How did yours stay crisp? Also, do you bake straight on the sheet or on parchment?

    2. User avatar stevie.jacobs says:

      5 stars
Yes!! This is exactly the vibe I wanted—sweet, but not overpowering. I love that you adjusted the honey and it still worked. Definitely making this for my next get-together.

  80. User avatar Jerlene Hyatt says:

    5 stars
Amazing! I added some crushed nuts for extra crunch, it’s my new favorite appetizer!

  81. User avatar adeline.greenfelder97 says:

    2 stars
Uh, how does this even work? Are the candy eyes edible? Seems sketchy.

  82. User avatar pamala.kohler96 says:

    4 stars
This is definitely kid-friendly and fun to make. My brie overflowed slightly… maybe I cut the strips too thin.

  83. User avatar mikki.wuckert29 says:

    2 stars
I tried this, but the cheese melted everywhere. 😩

    1. User avatar jon.kuhlman26 says:

      4 stars
I had the same issue! Maybe try using less cheese or a different brand? 🤷‍♀️

  84. User avatar pamela.nitzsche says:

    2 stars
The honey on brie? Seriously? That sounds totally weird. I don’t think I’d like it.

  85. User avatar orlando.wyman66 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the honey amount—“1 tablespoon or to taste” is a lot of freedom lol. I did 1 tbsp and it was almost too sweet with the salty brie.

  86. User avatar bob.yundt1978 says:

    3 stars
The mummy wrap looked adorable, but my pastry tore when I tried to cut thin strips. Still edible though—just more ‘scary’ than ‘mummy’ lol.

  87. 5 stars
I made this for a Halloween party and it disappeared fast. I used a little extra honey and it tasted super rich.

  88. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

    3 stars
I have no idea what brie is, but it looks nice in the picture.

    1. User avatar ezra.terry2014 says:

      2 stars
I think it’s just overrated. Cheese is cheese, right?

    2. User avatar craig.abbott0 says:

      5 stars
Brie is like a fancy cheese, super creamy! You should totally try it, it’s delicious.

  89. User avatar leatha.cruickshank1968 says:

    4 stars
The mummy wrap is genius. I added a tiny sprinkle of cinnamon to the honey—don’t hate me—made it taste more cozy with the cheese.

  90. 5 stars
OMG this was so easy to make! My kids had a blast decorating it. Definitely doing this again.

    1. User avatar Wellington Yueh says:

      2 stars
Looks simple, but what if I don’t have puff pastry? Can I use something else?

    2. User avatar basementDweller says:

      5 stars
This looks awesome! I might try it for Halloween! 🍬

  91. User avatar ralph.mayer91 says:

    3 stars
Took forever to make! I thought it would be quick. My hands got sticky and the pastry was tough to work with.

  92. User avatar Grìma Wormtongue says:

    5 stars
Wow this is dangerously simple. I made it for a party and everyone asked for the recipe. My pastry tore a little while wrapping but I just patched it and it still looked cute.

  93. User avatar mistie.prosacco6 says:

    3 stars
Looks cute but 400F for 20 min feels like it will melt the cheese too much. I might wrap thinner strips or chill the brie first—still might make it tho.

  94. User avatar janeth.padberg1951 says:

    4 stars
Tried it exactly as written—easy and looks adorable on the table. One thing: my brie started to ooze a bit before the pastry browned, so I might check at 12-15 min next time.

    1. 5 stars
Love this—super cute and honestly pretty foolproof. I also noticed mine got a little melty early, but it still turned out great once the pastry browned. Next time I’ll probably start checking around 12-15 too!

    2. User avatar elvira.dietrich69 says:

      3 stars
Mine oozed too, but I kept waiting for it to get “golden brown” and it kinda ran 😅. Maybe my brie was softer or I left it too long. I think your 12-15 min idea is smart—will try again!

  95. 3 stars
Candy eyes on warm cheese is genius… but also kind of terrifying. They almost melted into the brie for me.

    1. 3 stars
Mine did that too… I thought I was doing it wrong but maybe it’s just the heat. I put the eyes right after taking it out. Still tasted amazing though. Next time I’ll wait longer or use the harder candy eyes.

    2. 4 stars
Haha I get the “terrifying” part 😂 I’ve done it a couple times and yeah—if the brie is too hot when you add the eyes, they can get melty. Next time I’ll let it cool like 5–10 minutes more before putting them on.

  96. User avatar yulanda.balistreri16 says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute Halloween idea! The golden pastry + gooey brie combo is always a win. I used a little extra honey and it caramelized nicely.

  97. User avatar percy.hoppe6 says:

    5 stars
This is such a fun, spooky idea! The brie + honey combo is always a win, and the puff pastry turns out perfectly golden for me.

Candy eyes are the best part, obviously. 😂 But seriously, letting it cool a bit is key or the eyes melt. Mine almost slid off.

Mummies should be scary, not cute! But I guess it’s for kids…

Yum! Best appetizer recipe I’ve tried in ages! 😍

  101. 4 stars
I made this last year and it was a hit! But why honey? Isn’t that weird?

  102. 3 stars
It was alright. Tastes good but took me longer than 20 minutes! What’s up with that?

  103. User avatar beverly.raynor1953 says:

I love the idea, but 15–20 minutes feels short for my oven. I think I needed closer to 22 minutes to get the pastry fully browned.

Candy eyes? Kinda gross to me, like why not use olives or real decorations. Flavor was ok, though.

OMG I’m gonna make this for my kids’ Halloween! They love Brie and this looks fun!

    Yummy!!!

Just use any cheese, right? Who’s got Brie money anyway?

This looks adorable! Perfect for Halloween parties. Can’t wait to try it!

Candy eyes in warm cheese pastry is a bold choice. Mine softened and slid around a bit after placing them—use them quick and maybe press them gently. The pastry was killer regardless.

Totally agree—candy eyes are risky in hot pastry. I’m gonna try placing them right before serving and pressing them in lightly like you said. The golden crust on this brie situation sounds amazing though 😄

  110. 2 stars
I tried this and my pastry didn’t brown evenly, like the middle was pale and the edges got dark. Maybe my oven runs hot? Still tasted good though.

why candy eyes tho? seems wrong.

I tried it but I messed up and baked for too long. Now it’s a crunchy mummy. 🤷‍♀️ Still tasty though!

    1. 4 stars
Haha, crunchy mummy sounds kinda fun! At least it still tasted good. Next time, just set a timer!

Too long? That’s a bummer. I mean who really wants a crunchy brie? Maybe try again with a watch.

Ok but 15–20 minutes at 400°F feels a bit short/long depending on the oven. Mine was done closer to 18, and the pastry browned fast near the edges.

  114. 5 stars
Looks super fancy for almost no effort. My guests demolished it fast.

    1. 5 stars
Right? It looks like you slaved over it, but it’s mostly just wrapping and baking. Glad your guests loved it!

  115. 5 stars
This was a hit at our Halloween party! So delicious! 🎃

  116. 3 stars
Kinda skeptical about wrapping the brie. I thought it’d be a gooey mess. It turned out better than I expected! Still, not my favorite.

  117. User avatar francoise.hamill says:

Candy eyes??? Mine melted into the brie like tiny plastic regrets. Next time I’m placing them way later or using edible eyes only.

Isn’t brie kinda fancy? I don’t think my fam would enjoy this. But I might make it for my fancy friends.

Is brie cheese even good? I never had it before but the recipe looks fun. Maybe I’ll try it.

    1. User avatar Daedric Prince says:

I don’t know. Some people say brie tastes weird. But I guess worth a try if you like cheese?

    2. User avatar Luther McDermott says:

Brie cheese is amazing! It’s creamy and rich. You should definitely give it a try with the puff pastry!

I burned the pastry at first try. 400°F is too hot for my oven apparently. Still, the concept is genius.

Honestly I don’t trust the “15 to 20 minutes” timing. Every oven is different and puff pastry can go from golden to burnt fast. I’d rather have clearer doneness cues.

  122. User avatar melodie.stoltenberg38 says:

Mine didn’t melt like I expected—maybe my brie was colder than it should’ve been? Also, 15-20 min felt short at 400°F; I had to bake closer to 25. Still tasty though.

  123. User avatar kit.strosin says:

Cute idea, but I think candy eyes on hot cheese is kinda weird. They melted slightly for me. Would recommend adding them at the end like the recipe says and maybe using drier candy eyes.

This was delish! I added some spices to the honey for extra flavor! Definitely gonna make it again.

    1. User avatar Leigh King says:

Sounds amazing! What spices did you use? I wanna try that too!

  125. 5 stars
This is such a fun Halloween twist. The puff pastry came out really flaky, and the honey glaze gave it a sweet-savory vibe. I used a little extra honey and it was perfect.

  126. 2 stars
Meh. Puff pastry got soggy on the bottom when I didn’t preheat the tray. Flavor was fine though.

  127. User avatar rich.landlord says:

Okay but why is my pastry not crisping like yours? I baked it 20 min and it still felt a bit soft. Maybe my brie was too cold?

    1. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

      5 stars
Totally could be the temp—puff pastry needs enough heat to get super crispy. If it’s still soft at 20 min, bake closer to 22–25 min (until it’s deep golden). Also make sure your oven is fully preheated to 400°F.

  128. User avatar jordan.bashirian27 says:

I don’t usually trust recipes that say “honey or to taste.” Like… how much is to taste?? I started with 1 tablespoon anyway and it was sweet but in a good way with the brie.

  129. User avatar brian.gutmann21 says:

This is such a cute Halloween twist on brie—mine came out perfectly golden and gooey. The honey step really makes it sweet and savory.

Brie in puff pastry is already elite. I just wish the instructions said when exactly to put the eyes so they don’t melt again. Still, 10/10 would make for parties.

    1. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—melted brie inside flaky pastry is elite. And I like that the recipe says to let it cool slightly before the eyes—still, “slightly” is so vague lol. Next time I’ll probably wait a few minutes longer so the eyes don’t goo. 10/10 party snack.
