Grilled Pork Belly and Cabbage Salad is a satisfying mix of crispy, smoky richness and fresh crunch. It’s perfect for those who crave something bold and comforting, yet still refreshing and balanced.
Start with the pork belly. Choose slices that are about ¼ inch thick so they cook quickly while still getting nice and crisp on the grill. To prep, make a marinade with soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and a splash of fish sauce. Let the pork belly sit in this mixture for at least 30 minutes. The marinade helps tenderize the meat and infuse it with a sweet, salty depth of flavor.
While the pork marinates, prep the cabbage salad. Use a combination of green and purple cabbage, thinly sliced for a colorful crunch. Add some shredded carrots, thin slices of red onion, and chopped cilantro. You can also toss in a few chili slices if you want a bit of heat.
For the dressing, whisk together rice vinegar, lime juice, a dash of soy sauce, a touch of honey, and sesame oil. This light, tangy dressing pairs well with the richness of the pork belly. Pour it over the cabbage mix and let it sit for about 10 minutes to soften slightly and absorb the flavors.
Grill the pork belly slices over medium-high heat until they’re golden and crisp, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Let them rest for a minute before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
To assemble the salad, pile the cabbage mix on a serving platter or bowl, then scatter the grilled pork belly over the top. Finish with chopped roasted peanuts, sesame seeds, and fresh lime wedges. The result is a dish that’s rich yet balanced, crunchy yet tender, and completely satisfying. It’s a great choice for a summer dinner or a weekend lunch, especially served with jasmine rice or cold noodles on the side.

Meh… my pork belly burned 😩 Followed all the steps! Maybe needed less time on the grill?
I feel you! Pork belly can be tricky. Maybe try lowering the grill temp next time? It’s delicious when cooked right! 🌟
Can’t believe how well the cilantro and lime worked with the pork! Such a fresh, summery dish.
I don’t know… I think pork belly is too fatty. Can’t imagine this being as good as you say. cilantro and lime are great tho.
Totally agree! The cilantro really brings it all together, doesn’t it? Love this recipe!
Grilled meat! So rustic and good! Great recipe, thank u!
This is such a solid combo—grilled pork belly on fresh, crunchy veggies with that lime/fish sauce punch. I followed it pretty closely and it tasted restaurant-level. Will make again!
Just okay. I expected more from it. My husband said it was too spicy. Might skip the chili next time.
I’m skeptical about pork belly on a salad like this… but wow, it works. The sweet-sour dressing really cuts through the fattiness.
I was like, pork belly?? on salad?? But you’re right—the dressing absolutely balances it. Sweet-sour + fat is a cheat code. Will definitely try this with extra lime.
I’m not sure about the cooking time… 15-20 min per side for 1 lb pork belly seems kinda low/iffy to me. Also 145°F doesn’t sound like it’ll get the fat rendered, but maybe I’m wrong. Anyone tried it?
Good idea, but 145°F for pork belly feels too low to me. I kept cooking until it felt more tender—still ended up great.
Amazing. I used green onion instead of red, and it was still delicious. My family asked for seconds—maybe even thirds.
I wasn’t sure about the fish sauce, but it added a nice depth that I didn’t expect. A solid recipe!
Super easy to make! Perfect for summer BBQs. Just make sure you watch the grill so it doesn’t burn! 🙂
This is one of those recipes where everything tastes balanced. Onion + carrot + cucumber is a nice base, and the chili adds a good kick. Would make again.
Not bad, but I’m not sure fish sauce + soy + sugar is for everyone. It tasted a little “fishy” to me even after balancing with lime. Could be my brand though.
Not bad, but my salad got watery from the cucumber—maybe I sliced it too thin. Could use a squeeze of salt or drain the veggies a bit.
I added extra chili and garlic and it was honestly too intense for my taste, but my partner loved it. The salad is definitely the highlight.
Totally get that—extra chili + garlic can swing it from “zesty” to “wow too much.” Glad you still enjoyed the salad itself though; the cabbage and lime balance a lot.
Too intense? Just add more cucumber next time to cool it down 😅 Also 145°F seems low to me… I usually cook pork way longer. But hey if it was tasty for your partner!
Yum! The cabbage adds a nice crunch. Also, the lime juice really brings it together! 🥗
Made this last night and followed it pretty closely. Pork belly came out juicy, but next time I’ll slice it thinner—mine was a bit chunky. Still delicious though.
I kinda messed up the grilling part and burned the pork. But, somehow it still tasted good? Weird but I’m not complaining!
Good recipe, but the pork belly took longer than 20 min to cook. Anyone else find this?
I agree! I had the same issue with the pork belly. Definitely took more time for me too. Maybe my grill isn’t as hot as it should be!
20 minutes? That seems like not enough! I’ve cooked pork belly before and it usually takes longer. Are you sure about the timing?
I liked it, but 145°F seems kinda low for pork belly—mine wasn’t as tender until closer to 170°F. Still tasty though, and the salad is super crunchy.
Grilling is a great way to cook pork! My family loved it, but I switched out the fish sauce for soy sauce because I didn’t have any. Still turned out good!
Honestly, I found the dressing a bit weird. Maybe a different sauce would work better?
I used dried cilantro (didn’t have fresh) and it tasted… okay? Still good with lime and chili though. Maybe fresh herbs would’ve made it a 5.
Not bad! I thought it was too salty tho. Next time, less soy sauce.
This was honestly delicious—juicy pork belly with that sweet-salty-lime dressing. The cabbage stayed crunchy too. I did 17 minutes per side and it hit perfectly.
I’m not a fan of fish sauce. What can I substitute it with? Anyone know?
You can use soy sauce or even a splash of vinegar if you’re avoiding fish sauce. It won’t be exactly the same, but it’ll still taste good! 🤗
This is fantastic! My family loved it. Will definitely make again!
Ingredients list is too long. I just want something simple. 😩
Great recipe but too many steps. I just grilled the pork and ate it with plain cabbage salad.
Grilling the pork sounds easier! I might try that next time, but it seems like you’re missing out on the salad flavors.
Too many steps? It’s not that hard! Just follow the instructions, it’s worth it. 🙄
Not my taste, I prefer beef over pork, but my partner loved it. Mixed feelings!
Yum yum! Let’s grill this every week. Perfect summer meal.
Meh, cabbage salad got soggy on me by the time I ate. The pork was good, but the rest felt plain.
Wow, loved this! I didn’t have chili so just used black pepper instead. Still turned out great!!
Glad you loved it! Substituting with black pepper sounds interesting, might try that next time. Thanks!
I dunno, I thought this would be better. The fish sauce was too strong for my taste.
I was skeptical about the fish sauce + soy + sugar balance, but wow it works. Next time I’ll slice the cabbage a little thinner so it softens more from the dressing.
This feels very “restaurant-y” at home. I sliced the pork belly thin after resting and it held up well. Next time I’ll try adding peanuts.
This was amazing! The pork belly was so juicy and full of flavor. My family loved it!
The instructions are simple, but grilling pork belly is stressful 😅. I ended up covering it with foil for a bit and that helped. Came out tasty!
This was such a tasty combo—crispy edges on the pork belly and the salad stayed fresh. I added a bit more lime and it really popped.
The flavor is bold, but I found it a tad salty. Next time I’ll reduce fish sauce by half or use low-sodium soy. Still tasty though!
Hmm, mine came out salty too and I followed it exactly. Next time I’m trying low-sodium soy like you said—also maybe cut back on “salt and pepper to taste” on the pork belly.
Good call on reducing the fish sauce! I’ve noticed 2 tbsp can get super punchy depending on the brand. I usually start with 1 tbsp and add more at the end if it needs it.
Won’t lie, I didn’t measure the salt/pepper and it ended up a bit salty for me. Otherwise flavors were nice. Maybe cut fish sauce next time.
Tasty! But I used chicken instead of pork and it turned out great too!
Did not work well for my family. They don’t eat anything green. What do I serve with it if no salad?
I tried this recipe, but my pork belly was too fatty. I think I did it wrong?
Don’t worry! Pork belly is naturally fatty. Maybe try trimming some of the fat next time or cooking it longer to render more fat off. It’ll help balance things out!
This was amazing! So much flavor, the dressing really brought everything together. Definitely making this again!
I’m so glad you loved it! The dressing really does make a difference, doesn’t it? Can’t wait to see your next creation!
Cooked this for friends and everyone kept going back for more. The salad stayed crisp even after tossing, which I always worry about.
That’s awesome! I’m always paranoid salads get soggy too, so keeping it crisp after tossing is a huge win. What did you serve it with—maybe rice or just straight salad?
Looks good, but I don’t eat pork. Can I use chicken instead? Anyone tried it?
Love how fresh the salad tastes against the rich pork. The cilantro and chili give it that “restaurant” vibe. Will make again!
I don’t have a thermometer, so I kinda guessed. It was still juicy, though my slices were a bit uneven. Flavor saved it.
Honestly, “no thermometer” is super relatable—nice save that it stayed juicy! Uneven slices happen a lot with pork belly; letting it rest the full 5 minutes and slicing against the grain helps. Flavor sounds like it nailed it.
Yum! A little too much cabbage for my taste, tho. Maybe I’ll add more carrots next time.
Nah, cabbage is great! Just eat it, you don’t need to mess with a good recipe! 😤
I think the cabbage makes it crunchy and fresh! But adding more carrots sounds like a great idea for sweetness.
Honestly? The ingredient list is giving me stress (so many things lol), but it ended up being worth it. Cilantro and chili together = perfect.
I’m confused about the 145°F thing—like, I thought pork belly needed more? Mine was safe but felt slightly underdone for my taste. The salad is great regardless.
I followed the recipe but I think my lime was too small? It tasted a little flat until I added more lime juice. Next time I’ll taste and adjust sooner.
I dunno, it just didn’t hit right. Maybe too much sauce? Not a big fan.
I get what you mean! Sometimes too much sauce can really overpower the dish. Maybe try cutting back next time?
Why do we even need the brown sugar? Seems pointless to me. Just made it too sweet.
Grilled pork belly??? Yum! That’s my jam right there! 🥓🥗
This was absolutely delicious! The mix of flavors was wonderful. Will make again!
I dunno, seems a bit much for me. Pork belly is super fatty, right? But glad it worked for you!
So glad you loved it! The flavors really do come together nicely. Did you tweak anything?
Wait, do you really need all this fancy sauce? Can’t you just use BBQ sauce? My friend said that would be fine.
Wow, this was such a great mix of smoky and fresh. The fish sauce + lime combo really pops. I grilled a little longer to get the fat crispy and it was perfect.
Five stars. Done.
Yum! 😋
It sounds good, but I’m not a fan of fish sauce. Can I just leave it out?
Looks delicious! I can’t wait to make this! 😍
I liked it, but 145°F felt low for pork belly—mine was still a little chewy. Next time I’ll target higher and maybe render more fat first.
I don’t get why people use pork belly and then add cabbage—sounds like a weird salad at first. But after tasting, it kinda slaps. Not mad.
Honestly I thought the same—pork belly + cabbage sounds like “salad… but make it dinner,” lol. But the fish sauce/lime combo probably makes it work. Gonna try it!
I’m not sure about the 145°F thing for pork belly… mine didn’t feel as tender as I expected at that temp. Flavor was good though, especially the sauce in the salad. Next time I’ll probably go longer on the grill.
This dish was a hit at my BBQ! The flavors really mesh well, and the pork belly was so juicy! Will definitely make again.
OMG this is fire 🔥 I added extra lime and more chili and it was insane. 10/10
Yes!! 🔥 I love when the lime + chili really pops. Did you still keep the ratio for the fish sauce/soy/sugar or just adjust everything?
This is giving restaurant vibes! The cilantro and chili really wake it up. I used lime zest too and it tasted bright. Will absolutely be in my rotation.
This was super easy to make! Loved the crunch from the cabbage.
Glad to hear you loved it! The crunchiness of cabbage really makes this dish pop. Did you add anything extra?
This sounds good, but I don’t think pork and salad go together. What’s the point? Just eat a good salad!
I’m skeptical about grilling pork belly for only 15-20 minutes per side—mine needed longer to get fully tender. But the salad saved it and tasted amazing.
This was *so* flavorful—sweet, salty, and that lime/garlic kick really makes the pork belly shine. I sliced it a little thicker than directed and still loved it.
Ok but grilled pork belly takes forever on my grill. 15-20 min per side was not enough. Flavor was good, timing needs adjusting.
Wait, is pork belly the same as bacon? I thought I was makin’ bacon but now I’m confused.
Nah, pork belly and bacon ain’t the same. Bacon’s cured and sliced, while pork belly is fresh meat. You could say bacon’s a type of pork belly, but it’s more processed. Hope this helps!
I loved the freshness from the cucumber/cilantro, but my cabbage was a little too crunchy for my liking. Next time I’ll salt the cabbage first to soften it.
Followed the recipe pretty much exactly. Only tweak: I salted the pork a bit more and let it rest 10 minutes. The salad stayed crunchy and fresh.
This was absolutely delicious! The pork belly was so tender and the salad was so refreshing. Will definitely make again!
The salad is great by itself, like a fresh slaw. I wish the instructions mentioned tossing the veg with half the sauce first so it soaks in more.
I dunno, I feel like tossing everything together already works… cabbage gets soggy if you do it too early, right? But your idea of using half the sauce makes sense though—might balance it.
Totally agree—tossing the veggies with half the sauce first would help them soak up more flavor. I’m going to try that next time and maybe let it sit 10 minutes before adding the pork.
I don’t have a grill, can I bake the pork belly? How long?
My grill runs hot, so 15–20 minutes per side was too long for me. Pork was still good, but next time I’ll start checking earlier.
It’s good but a lot going on. I might cut down the amount of sauces next time because I tasted “fish sauce” first, then everything else.
wow so easy lol. also i used chicken belly?? dont judge—still kinda good. next time pork for sure
meh.
I think this looks amazing! Pork belly is my favorite! Can’t wait to try it.
Quick and easy! Used some leftover pork and it turned out well, but I think I added too much lime.
Mine turned out kind of salty even though I “didn’t add much.” I think next time I’ll reduce the soy sauce or balance with more cucumber/lime.
My cabbage didn’t soften much, so it was super crunchy. I actually liked it, but if you want tender salad, you may need to salt and rest it first.
Recipe looks good, but 145°F feels low for pork belly to me. I ended up going longer until it was more crispy, and it was better—maybe adjust for thickness?
The flavors were nice, but I prefer my salads without meat. Too heavy for me.
I get that! Maybe try it without the pork or use some beans for protein instead. It’s like a whole different dish then!
I don’t usually comment, but my kids devoured this! Thanks for sharing!
That’s awesome to hear! Kids can be picky, so it must be really good! 😊
This dish is a game changer! The pork is so juicy and the salad is super refreshing.
Perfect for summer BBQs! I added some extra chili and it was fire! 🔥
Sounds awesome! I’m definitely gonna try it with extra chili too. 🔥
15-20 minutes per side seems a bit long for my grill. I checked with a thermometer and pulled it earlier and it stayed juicy. The rest step helped a lot too.
That makes sense—grill temps vary a lot. I’m glad you tested with a thermometer and pulled it earlier; the rest step really does help keep it juicy. 🙌
The instructions are simple, but 145°F feels low for pork belly to me. I went by temp and texture was okay, yet I wanted more crisp on the edges.
A solid dish, but I prefer my pork belly crispy. Wasn’t as crunchy as I thought it would be.
I don’t know, the fish sauce kinda threw me off. Maybe try with just normal sauce?
I don’t know, the flavors just didn’t mix well for me. I expected more from such a fancy recipe.
Really? I loved it! The fish sauce adds a depth that I think blends nicely with the pork. Could be just your taste buds!
I get what you’re saying! Sometimes fancy recipes can have too many strong flavors that just clash. Maybe next time try simplifying it?
I tried this recipe and it was way too salty for my taste. I think the fish sauce is overdoing it.
This was seriously tasty—sweet-salty-limey and the grilled pork belly made the whole salad feel restaurant-level. I followed the ratios pretty much exactly.
I tried it but my pork belly took longer than 15-20 min per side, so I was worried I messed up. Also I only had lime juice from a bottle—still good though. Next time I’ll check temp earlier.
Yes!! I did this for dinner last week and it totally hit that sweet-salty-lime balance. The pork belly + crunchy cabbage combo is chef-y without being hard.
Delicious! I made this for my family and they loved it. Will definitely make again.
That sounds amazing! I’m glad your family enjoyed it. I can’t wait to try it myself!
I was skeptical about pork belly, but this turned out delicious! Will definitely make again!
It was decent but kinda salty… I halved the soy/fish sauce next time and it helped. Also, I can’t find fresh cilantro so I used dried and it was not the same. 😅
Totally agree—this kind of dressing can get salty fast. Halving the fish/soy is a smart fix 👌 Cilantro dried can be a miss though; it loses that fresh punch.
Perfect summer dish! Light, fresh, and the lime juice really brightens it up.
Yum! I didn’t have red chili, so I used green. Still delish!
Yummy! I never thought cabbage could taste so good. Great recipe!
I can’t believe it! Cabbage, who knew? I’m definitely trying this out tonight!
Yummy! I could eat this everyday but I don’t know how to cook pork belly…Help.
Cooking pork belly is easier than it sounds! Just follow the recipe step by step. It’s really delicious! 🍽️
What’s fish sauce? Can’t find it in my local grocery. Can I just skip it?
I found it a bit salty. Next time, I will lower the amount of salt. But the grilled pork was nice.
It was okay, but I found the salad too tangy. Maybe less lime next time?
OMG, my husband loved it! He’s picky, so that says a lot. Thanks for sharing!
That’s awesome to hear! My hubby is picky too, but he loves this recipe! 🥰
Picky eaters are tough! Guess the recipe must be really good if he liked it! But I wonder if it’s too greasy with that pork belly…
The salad is great, but I didn’t love how the cabbage stayed a bit too crunchy for me. Next time I’ll salt the cabbage for 10 minutes and drain so it softens. Pork belly was on point.
Too much fish sauce for my taste. Can’t taste anything else! 😒
Absolutely loved this recipe! The pork belly was so juicy and flavorful. Will definitely make it again!
Pork belly is overrated. Just make regular pork chops instead.
Okay but the cook time confused me. 15-20 minutes per side on a medium-high grill seems like a lot or not enough depending on thickness. Mine was thicker and I had to go longer—still good though.
It was alright, but I felt like the fish sauce overpowered everything. Maybe cut it down a bit?
Too spicy!! I couldn’t finish it. Maybe less chili next time? 😓
I thought it was just right! But I guess everyone’s taste is different. Maybe try using less chili next time if you don’t like it spicy! 🌶️
Grilled pork belly is life!! 😍 So good! I didn’t even have all the veggies but it still rocked!
Looks good, but I ain’t too sure if pork belly is all that healthy, ya know? Maybe try chicken next time?
I totally agree! Grilled pork belly is just the best! 🔥 I can’t wait to try it with all the veggies next time!
Wow. super easy and taste like restaurant. omg
Right?? I made this last night and it was way easier than I expected. The combo of fish sauce + lime is 🔥
I made this for a family BBQ, everyone loved it! Even my picky eater brother ate it and asked for seconds!
That’s awesome! I love when picky eaters enjoy new dishes. This recipe is a winner!
I gotta say, I’m not a big fan of fish sauce. It was too strong for me. Maybe I’ll try with less next time?
My pork belly turned out kinda chewy (I think I sliced it too thick). Also I forgot to rest it—rookie mistake. Taste was still there.
Pretty good flavor, but I accidentally used a whole lime instead of 1 tbsp lime juice… still edible tho, just very tangy lol.
Fish sauce AND soy AND lime sounds like too many liquids? But wow, it works. I’m glad I tried it. My kitchen smelled like an Asian bistro, in a good way lol.
Easy to make and my kids loved it! A great dish for summer grilling.
I’m so glad to hear that your kids loved it! This recipe really is perfect for summer. 😊
Grilled pork belly? Sounds kinda fancy for just cabbage and stuff. 🤔 But hey, if the kids liked it, great!
Is 145°F enough to cook pork? I always heard it needs to be higher. But mine came out okay 😅.
I don’t know why people like cabbage? It’s crunchy but tastes like nothing. Meh!
This was surprisingly flavorful—fish sauce + lime really pops. The pork belly came out perfectly juicy after resting. Will make again!
1 lb pork belly seems like it might be too much for “on top of” 2 cups cabbage—unless you like big portions. I ended up with leftovers and ate it for days.
Absolutely delicious! The pork belly was so tender and flavorful. Will definitely make again.
I dunno… sounds kinda greasy to me. Pork belly isn’t healthy, ya know?
I agree! The pork belly really makes this dish special. It was a hit with my family too!
I’m a skeptic about fish sauce on salads, but it works. The cabbage stayed crisp and the dressing tasted restaurant-level. Will make again.
I still don’t trust fish sauce with cabbage 😅 But if it tasted like a restaurant then ok. How salty was it? I’m scared I’ll overdo the 2 tbsp.
Fish sauce on salad is exactly the kind of “wait…what?” thing that turns out amazing. Your write-up makes me want to try it—also love that the cabbage stayed crisp.
The salad portion is so fresh—cabbage crunch with cucumber is great. I did add a tiny pinch more chili because we like heat. Overall super tasty.
Honestly, I didn’t grill it—I pan-seared because my grill is broken. It was still good on the salad, so I’m giving it credit.
Best meal ever! Made it for my boyfriend, and he was impressed! 🙂
I’m not usually into pork belly, but the grill time confused me a little. 15–20 min per side felt long for my grill, yet it turned out tender.
Used regular soy sauce and it came out a little too salty for my taste. I’d reduce fish sauce/soy by 1/2 next time.
Fish sauce + cabbage sounds weird to my brain. Like… why not just use a normal dressing? But I tried it anyway and it was okay. Not my top pick though.
I get the “sounds weird” reaction, but fish sauce + cabbage actually makes sense—it’s salty/umami and the lime cuts through it. If you use a lighter hand on the fish sauce it’s even better.
I tried fish sauce once in salad and it was like… fishy fishy 😅 Maybe yours is fine, but I’d rather do sesame oil + rice vinegar or something. Still, props for experimenting.
Five stars. Simple, but it tastes like a restaurant dish. The pork belly + crunchy cabbage = perfect.
Not my thing. Cabbage is weird and the sauce was too fishy!
Grilled pork belly is so fattening. You should be careful eating this! Plus, I thought fish sauce was for sushi?
Yummm! But BBQ without that much veg is better, but this is still okay. Got thumbs up from the kids!
145°F seems low for pork belly? I know it says safe temp but mine felt a little underdone at 145. I think I went closer to 165 and it was way better.
So good. Just made it and my family ate all of it. Grill time was right for me.
Huh I tried similar once but 145°F seems kinda low? My pork belly was still chewy at that temp. Maybe mine wasn’t thin enough. Still, sounds tasty with the fish sauce salad.
Love hearing this! The grill timing note is so helpful—15–20 min/side can vary a lot depending on the thickness. Glad your family demolished it 😄
Super easy to follow! I added some sesame seeds on top and it was great!
This was soooo good—juicy pork belly + that tangy lime-fish sauce dressing combo is perfect. I added extra chili and it didn’t disappoint.
Agreeee—those flavors are seriously spot on. I’m definitely trying the extra chili next time. 😄
Followed the temps but my grill runs hot—after 15 minutes it was already close to done. Still juicy though. Wish the instruction included flipping timing more clearly, but overall great flavor balance.
I dont get how it can be “15-20 per side” if your grill runs hot… i mean mine would burn in like 5 😅. Maybe try lowering to medium and flip when it looks browned, not after a set time.
That makes sense—some grills run *way* hotter than “medium-high.” I’m glad it stayed juicy though. I’d just start checking earlier next time (like at 10 minutes) and use the temp as the real timer.
Salad rocked but maybe need more salt on the pork? It was kinda bland!
Totally agree! A little more salt can really bring out the flavors. Next time I’ll try adding some seasoned salt.
Fish sauce smell at first is too much for me, not gonna lie 😅 But after mixing with the sugar and lime it was actually kinda amazing. Would recommend with a disclaimer for nose.
This recipe is amazing! The flavors blend so well together. My family loved it!
I totally agree! This dish is a hit in my house too. Can’t go wrong with grilled pork!
Meh. Tastes okay, but the cabbage felt a little watery after sitting. Maybe cut thinner next time? Also my garlic was too strong 😅
Fish sauce + lime juice is magic. I didn’t have red chili so I used chili flakes and it still worked. Would make again.
Fish sauce + lime + cabbage is genius. Also the chili slices gave it the right amount of kick. Would make again for sure.
I followed the recipe pretty closely, but my grill runs hot so I had to cut the time down. Still delicious though—nice balance of sweet, salty, and crunch.
I messed up garlic quantity (used too much) and it still tasted kinda amazing? Like garlicky pork and crunchy cabbage. No regrets.
Grill pork belly? Why not just order take-out instead? Seems like too much work.
Salad with pork?? Who would want that? Sounds weird.
My salad turned soggy after an hour (cucumber + cabbage, I guess). Still tasty, but I’d prep the veg and sauce separately next time.
That makes sense—cucumber just weeps water fast. I usually slice it and salt it for a few minutes, then pat dry before mixing. Separating the wet stuff from the cabbage helps a ton.
Hmm I did it same way and mine was fine… maybe your pork grease made it wetter? Also I think the cabbage should be massaged first, otherwise it stays too soft. Next time try less lime juice? Idk lol.
I’m not good at grilling. My pork ended up burnt, but salad was nice.
Easiest recipe I’ve ever tried. Just threw everything together and it was yummy!
Meh. Couldn’t really taste the garlic and it was kinda salty. Maybe my pork belly was already seasoned or my measurements were off. Still, I ate it all… so it wasnt horrible.
I’m not gonna lie, I was worried the fish sauce + soy would be too salty, but the cabbage really soaks it up nicely. Would make again, maybe just slightly less soy.
Totally get that worry—fish sauce can go from “umami” to “too much” fast. Love that the cabbage balances it out. Next time I’ll try a hair less soy like you said.
Grilled pork belly? Is that even healthy? Seems kinda fatty to me.
Ugh. My pork belly was all chewy. What did I do wrong? I thought I followed the recipe.
Followed the recipe pretty much. My pork belly took closer to 25 minutes per side on my grill, but it was worth it. Salad is super crunchy.
Glad it came out well! 25 minutes per side on a grill sounds totally believable—pork belly thickness can be all over the place. That crunchy salad combo is the best part.
I did it too but mine took way longer than 25 min/side 😅 Also I’m not sure 145°F is enough for pork belly? Mine was still kinda chewy until I went higher. Still tasty though!
