Cookie Balls

July 29, 2024

Oreo Cookie Balls are the kind of treat that disappears almost as quickly as you make them. With only three main ingredients and no baking involved, they are the perfect go-to dessert when you want something quick, delicious, and crowd-pleasing. These bite-sized delights are rich, creamy, and packed with that classic cookies-and-cream flavor everyone loves.

To make them, you start with crushed Oreo cookies. The entire cookie, filling and all, gets pulsed into fine crumbs and then mixed with softened cream cheese. The result is a smooth, truffle-like dough that holds together easily. Once rolled into small balls, the mixture is chilled to firm up before getting dipped in melted chocolate.

The chocolate coating adds a smooth shell that contrasts beautifully with the soft and creamy center. You can use milk chocolate for a classic finish, white chocolate for a sweeter twist, or even dark chocolate if you want to cut the sweetness slightly. While the chocolate is still wet, you can sprinkle extra Oreo crumbs, colorful sprinkles, or a drizzle of white or dark chocolate over the top for decoration.

These cookie balls are great for parties, potlucks, or holidays. They look elegant on a dessert tray but are so simple to make that they are ideal for beginners. Plus, the recipe can be customized in endless ways. Try using different flavors of Oreos, like mint or birthday cake, or add a drop of peppermint or vanilla extract for a unique flavor.

Best of all, Oreo Cookie Balls can be made in advance. Store them in the fridge for several days or freeze them if you’re prepping for a big event. They hold their shape well and still taste amazing even after being chilled.

Whether you’re making them for a celebration or just for yourself, Oreo Cookie Balls are a fun, easy treat that always hits the spot.

    Awesome

  2. 4 stars
I didn’t have Oreos but used generic cookies instead and they were still good. So versatile!

  3. User avatar belkis.lockman1987 says:

    3 stars
How do you store them? I put ’em in a bowl and covered it, hope that’s okay.

  4. User avatar jackie.crist9 says:

    5 stars
So easy and dangerously tasty. I used mint Oreos and the mint flavor actually came through really nicely.

    1. User avatar abe.walter1979 says:

      5 stars
That sounds dangerously good 😅 Mint Oreos are such a cheat code. I love that the flavor actually punches through!

    2. User avatar ArabianNights says:

      3 stars
I tried plain Oreos and mine were kinda crumbly—maybe I didn’t soften the cream cheese enough. Would mint Oreos make it hold together better or just taste different?

  5. User avatar otto.hansen47 says:

    4 stars
I tried this with regular Oreos and also cheesecake Oreos—honestly couldn’t tell a difference, but both were good.

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
Same here! I used the chocolate ones and they turned out basically identical—so I guess it really just comes down to whether you like the flavor.

  6. User avatar thomas.jaskolski44 says:

The flavor is spot on, but I wish there was an option to bake them or something. Straight fridge is fine for me, but my family kept asking why they weren’t “cookies.”

    1. User avatar damon.barton says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—straight fridge is great, but I’ve also tried popping a few on a tray and baking them for like 6–8 minutes at a low temp. They won’t be “real cookies,” but they do get a slightly firmer outside. Might need to adjust the bake time depending on how soft your cream cheese is.

    2. User avatar Super Saiyan Goten says:

      3 stars
Why not just bake them? I feel like these are basically no-bake cookies anyway. My family would’ve called them “cookie dough balls” if the instructions said cookie dough. Also, I made mine and used double the Oreos, and they turned out more like crumbly rocks 😅

  7. User avatar jay.leffler79 says:

    3 stars
I feel like they don’t taste like real cookies… they are kinda weird, y’know?

  8. User avatar Questular Rontok says:

    4 stars
I forgot to soften the cream cheese long enough and it was super crumbly at first, but once it came together in the fridge they were great.

  9. 5 stars
These are dangerously easy. I used mint Oreos and they tasted like a no-bake dessert you’d actually pay for 😄

Cookie balls? Sounds fun! But are these really gonna be that good? I doubt it.

    1. User avatar meredith.oberbrunner33 says:

      2 stars
Are you sure these will taste good? Cream cheese with Oreos? Sounds kinda weird to me.

    2. 5 stars
I made these last week and they were a hit! Super easy and delicious. Don’t doubt it until you try it!

  11. 5 stars
My kids loved them! We make these every week now. Thanks for the recipe!

  12. 2 stars
Do I have to use Oreo? Can’t I use any cookie? Asking for a friend.

    1. User avatar Pasta Fasta says:

      3 stars
I don’t think it will taste the same. Oreos are special, you know? 😕

    2. User avatar ryan.kozey96 says:

      5 stars
You can definitely use any cookie! Just keep in mind the taste might change. 🍪

  13. User avatar jennefer.raynor1966 says:

    3 stars
I don’t know. The cream cheese makes them too soft maybe? Might try with less next time.

  14. 3 stars
Tried making these with peanut butter Oreos, and they turned out a bit mushy… not sure what I did wrong.

  15. User avatar essie.altenwerth59 says:

    2 stars
Ugh, tried this and didn’t like it. Too sweet for me!

  16. User avatar Ali Gaither says:

    3 stars
I don’t know, they seem a bit too sweet for my taste. Maybe less cream cheese?

  17. User avatar long.balistreri73 says:

I tried making these but I accidentally used a whole packet of Oreos, now they’re HUGE! Oops!

  18. User avatar Falmer Shaman says:

      2 stars
I don’t know, cream cheese with Oreos? Kinda sounds weird to me. How can it be 1010?

  19. 2 stars
Cookie balls? More like cookie GLOBS! Way too sweet for me, couldn’t finish one.

  20. User avatar gabriel.friesen56 says:

    5 stars
Great for parties! I made these and they disappeared in minutes! 🥳

  21. 4 stars
Super easy, but I think 1 hour is a little optimistic. I left mine in overnight because they were soft at first. Once chilled they were perfect. Great quick dessert for parties.

  22. 1 star
Followed the recipe but they came out too mushy. What did I do wrong? 😩

    5 stars
So delicious! Perfect for parties, everyone gobbled them up! 🤤

  26. 2 stars
I tried making these with peanut butter Oreos and they were a disaster. The mix was too dry. Maybe I did something wrong?

    1. User avatar kathaleen.schmitt18 says:

      4 stars
I think the peanut butter flavor might’ve made the mixture too thick. You could try adding a bit of milk next time to moisten it up! 💡

    2. User avatar cythia.olson says:

      2 stars
Nah, I think the recipe just ain’t that good. It doesn’t seem simple. How can cream cheese and Oreos be dry??

  27. User avatar mason.ullrich says:

    3 stars
Cookies plus cream cheese? That sounds funky. I don’t know if I will try this. Maybe stick to regular cookies.

    1. User avatar Chaurus Hunter says:

      2 stars
Not sure about cream cheese… Sounds kinda weird for cookies. I’m sticking with my chocolate chip.

    2. User avatar fletcher.gleason says:

      5 stars
I actually tried it, and it was amazing! You should give it a shot; it’s not funky at all!

  28. User avatar reba.monahan1985 says:

    2 stars
Instructions are too long. Can’t you just say mix and roll? 🤷‍♂️

    1. 4 stars
Yeah, but those details help if you mess up. You don’t want mushy cookie balls! 😂

    2. User avatar milo.strosin98 says:

      5 stars
I actually found the steps really helpful! It’s not just mix and roll, there’s a technique to it. 🍪

  29. 5 stars
I added some peanut butter, and it was bomb! Seriously give that a try!

  30. User avatar Bradford Osinski says:

    4 stars
LOL, I thought you had to bake cookies! These are like fridge cookies haha.

    1. User avatar isaac.pagac2015 says:

      5 stars
Haha, right? It’s like magic – no oven needed! These are super easy and delicious too!

    2. User avatar elliot.oberbrunner says:

      2 stars
I dunno, man. They don’t seem like real cookies if you ain’t baking them. Just saying.

  31. User avatar Mr. Camellia Mraz says:

    4 stars
I think it needs more chocolate. Maybe chocolate drizzle on top? Just saying.

    1. User avatar dewayne.herman says:

      2 stars
I dunno, I think they’re sweet enough as is. Too much chocolate might ruin it.

    2. 5 stars
I totally agree! A chocolate drizzle would make these even better! 🍫

  32. User avatar brooks.abernathy2025 says:

    5 stars
Yum! Making these for my daughter’s birthday party. Can’t wait to see how they turn out!

  33. User avatar princess.langosh says:

    2 stars
I don’t really get the point of this. It’s basically just cream cheese with crushed cookies. Like… where’s the actual cooking?

    1. User avatar Dan Streetmentioner says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean, but for me the “cooking” is the mixing + chilling. They come out more like a no-bake dessert bite than a baked recipe.

    2. User avatar latrina.larson says:

      5 stars
Honestly I love no-bake stuff. If you chill them long enough they actually set up nicely—texture is the whole point, not baking.

  34. User avatar maria.hoeger says:

    5 stars
    Wow so good!

  35. 5 stars
These are super easy to make and taste divine! I used mint Oreos, and they were a hit at the party!

  36. User avatar Thufir Hawat says:

    4 stars
I messed up the cream cheese part—forgot to soften it and it tore everything up. Eventually I microwaved it for like 10 seconds and it fixed. Recipe is forgiving!

  37. User avatar christi.donnelly18 says:

    2 stars
Why do we need to refrigerate them? I want to eat them NOW!

  38. User avatar shizuko.schowalter says:

    2 stars
I tried it with Double Stuf and it was kinda greasy? Like the texture felt too soft even after chilling.

  39. User avatar dominque.hackett says:

    4 stars
Made these for a party and they disappeared fast. Only change: I added a tiny pinch of salt because Oreos are pretty sweet already.

  40. User avatar Justin Credible says:

    5 stars
These cookie balls are AMAZING! Super easy and everyone loves them!

  41. User avatar miguel.legros says:

    5 stars
Made these for my kids but they were all gone in one day! Gonna make more now!

  42. User avatar wm.breitenberg says:

    3 stars
Okay but… is it supposed to be this salty? The cream cheese is mild and the Oreos bring a lot of salt, so I might reduce it next time.

    1. 5 stars
Totally—if you’re using an Oreo flavor that’s saltier (or even just regular Oreos), it can come out pretty punchy. I’d definitely try reducing—maybe use a lower-salt cookie next time or cut back slightly. You can also add a tiny pinch of unsweetened cocoa or a bit more cream cheese to balance it.

    2. User avatar georgeann.mcclure63 says:

      3 stars
Mine weren’t salty at all? Maybe your cream cheese was extra salty or the Oreos you used were like “mega” flavor ones. Next time try less crushed cookies or let it sit longer in the fridge, the salt kinda mellows?? Not sure though 😅

  43. User avatar The Allitnils says:

    3 stars
I don’t know about this, cream cheese and Oreos? Sounds weird but I might try it…

    1. User avatar todd.bauch60 says:

      5 stars
Trust me, it’s way better than it sounds! The creaminess totally balances out the Oreos. You should definitely try it!

  44. 2 stars
Too sweet for me. I think less cream cheese would make it better!

  45. 4 stars
I only had double stuffed Oreos and had to use that. Still turned out amazing!

  46. User avatar reyes.hansen1968 says:

    3 stars
I found this recipe really simple but my mixture was too sticky. Did I mess something up?

    1. User avatar alejandro.macgyver58 says:

      4 stars
Maybe you just need to add more crushed cookies? Sometimes the cream cheese can be too soft if it’s not cold enough.

  47. User avatar ross.daniel84 says:

    3 stars
This is a fun kid-friendly snack, but I think it’s overly sweet depending on your Oreos. I’ll try plain Oreos next time or maybe add a pinch of salt.

  48. User avatar catharine.barrows60 says:

    3 stars
Mine turned out a bit crumbly—maybe my cream cheese wasn’t soft enough. Next time I’ll leave it longer.

    1. User avatar eugenia.gutmann96 says:

      3 stars
Hm, mine weren’t crumbly but I used the mega creamy one and I mashed the Oreos till like powder. Maybe stop mixing so much? Mine kinda got tough when I over did it 🤷‍♀️

    2. User avatar Barliman Butterbur says:

      4 stars
That sounds super plausible—cream cheese that’s not fully softened can make it feel dry/crumbly. Did you also refrigerate them long enough (at least an hour)?

  49. 2 stars
Ew, carrot cake Oreos? No thanks. Stick with regular Oreos, people!

    1. User avatar leatrice.wilkinson1965 says:

      5 stars
I totally disagree! Carrot cake Oreos are amazing! Give them a shot. You might be surprised!

    2. User avatar Hotblack Desiato says:

      4 stars
People like what they like. You don’t have to be rude. Some of us enjoy a little variety every now and then.

  50. User avatar ehtel.botsford1970 says:

I tink the rolling of the balls is hard for me. My hands got all messy. Still they taste gud!

  51. User avatar dillon.macejkovic says:

    4 stars
One of the easiest recipes ever! My kids helped, and we had so much fun making these!

    1. User avatar hellen.hauck1989 says:

      5 stars
That sounds great! I love when kids help in the kitchen. It makes things so much more fun! What flavor of Oreos did you use?

  52. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

    2 stars
Easy recipe but I prefer regular cookies over these. Not for me.

  53. User avatar Bilbo Baggins says:

    4 stars
Yummy! But I think next time I’ll add some sprinkles on top!

I’m so glad to hear!!! They are always a hit at my gatherings too! 😄

  57. 3 stars
Sounds easy, but I don’t have a rolling pin. Can I just crush the cookies with my hands? 🤷‍♀️

    1. User avatar suzann.purdy74 says:

      4 stars
Crushing with your hands could work, but might not get them as fine! Maybe try a heavy book instead? 😊

So easy to make! But I ate them all before I even finished chilling them lol!

  67. 3 stars

  68. User avatar damien.orn says:

    4 stars
Simple and delicious! I didn’t even wait for them to chill for an hour, I ate them right away! Yum!

  69. 4 stars
N0 reviewed? I loved it but accidentally left them out for too long and they became kinda soft.

    1. User avatar joanna.sipes says:

I think your cream cheese might not have been soft enough! It can make the mix too hard to work with. Don’t give up, try again!

  73. User avatar ArabianNights says:

Good recipe but my kids said it taste like cheese. Next time I’ll add more sugar or something! Suggestions?

    1. User avatar Tricia McMillan says:

      4 stars
Maybe try a lil bit of vanilla extract? That could balance the flavors! My kids usually love sweet stuff too.

    2. User avatar shona.barrows43 says:

      3 stars
More sugar sounds good, but maybe it’s the cream cheese that’s making it taste cheesy? I dunno, but I like cheese! 😂

  74. 2 stars
Cookie balls? What’s that? Aren’t cookies supposed to be flat?

  75. User avatar bryce.shanahan93 says:

    4 stars
2 ingredients is suspiciously simple… but it worked. I did pulse the Oreos too long and it got a little pasty, still fine though.

Yay! I’m so glad your kids loved them! They really are super easy and delicious! 🎉

  78. 3 stars
1 inch balls feels small. I made mine like 2 inches and they were still good, but the center stayed softer than expected. Taste was still great.

  79. 2 stars
Not sure why everyone loves them, I found them a bit bland. 😕 Maybe my taste is off?

    1. 3 stars
Nah, you ain’t wrong. Some people just love sweet stuff too much. I prefer a savory snack anyway! 🍕

    2. 4 stars
Hey, I totally get you! Sometimes, the flavor of these things can hit differently for people. Maybe add a pinch of salt or some vanilla extract next time to kick it up a notch! 😊

  80. User avatar Captain Ginyu says:

    5 stars
Yum!!! Love these little balls! Perfect with some sprinkles on top. ❤️

  81. User avatar Spider Soldier says:

Could’ve used a little more structure—mine didn’t hold together until I chilled longer. After 2 hours they firmed up nicely. Cute and fun!

    1. User avatar rueben.nicolas2022 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—this kind of texture depends a lot on chill time. I’m glad yours held together after 2 hours! Mine was a mess the first try too, so I now do the full 1+ hour (sometimes longer) before rolling. Cute and fun is the best description 😂

  82. User avatar martine.wilderman2012 says:

    3 stars
I don’t understand how they can be so good just with cream cheese and cookies. Is it really that simple?

  83. User avatar lonny.bashirian16 says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical. Only cream cheese + Oreo? But I tried it anyway and… yeah, they’re actually good. Like cheesecake cookie bites.

  84. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    3 stars
I rolled mine too big, so they stayed soft. Smaller balls next time. Also, I didn’t have parchment so I used foil and it stuck a bit—learned my lesson.

  85. 3 stars
Yummy but I thought it would be crunchyer! It was kinda mushy.

  86. User avatar eleonore.nitzsche73 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, I don’t really get the hype. It’s basically cookies and cream cheese rolled into balls… which is fine, but not mind-blowing. My kids liked it though, so I guess that counts.

  87. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

    3 stars
I followed the steps and the texture was okay, but mine tasted a bit too much like plain cream cheese. Maybe I needed to crush the Oreos even finer? Still, the idea is solid.

Yeah, I’ve had that happen too. I think Oreo crumbs can be a little clumpy—crushing/pulsing finer (almost like sand) really helps so the cookie flavor punches through the cream cheese. Also try mixing for an extra minute or chilling longer than 1 hour.

I made these and it was super cream cheese-y for me as well 😅 Maybe use more Oreos? I only did the one pack and it was like cheesecake balls without the sweetness. Still ate them though lol.

So easy—made them with the mint Oreo ones and omg. Next time I might roll them a little bigger. Thanks for the clear steps!

I followed the recipe but mine were too soft! Did I do somethin wrong?

    1. 4 stars
Maybe you didn’t refrigerate them long enough? They need that chill time to firm up!

    2. User avatar matt.grant28 says:

      3 stars
I don’t know y they got soft, but mine came out great. Did u make sure to press them tight?

Real easy recipe but I used the wrong kind of Oreos and ended up making a chocolate explosion!

    1. User avatar freeman.hirthe79 says:

      4 stars
A chocolate explosion sounds kinda fun! 😂 What kind of Oreos did you use?

  91. User avatar vicente.oberbrunner63 says:

So good. 10/10. The only issue is I ate way too many before they even got set up lol.

  92. 3 stars
Very easy to make, but a bit too sweet for my taste. Maybe less cream cheese next time?

  93. User avatar blake.koelpin1963 says:

Not gonna lie, I thought “cookie balls” would be dry or weird. Nope—super creamy inside. Will make again.

  94. 5 stars
So simple it feels like cheating 😂. I did strawberry Oreos and they looked amazing. I’m giving these 5 stars just for how fast they come together.

    1. User avatar jean.jacobi says:

      3 stars
Hmm I tried once and they were kinda crumbly, like not really “balls.” I think I didn’t soften the cream cheese enough? Any tips on how long to mix so it sticks?

    2. User avatar hester.braun1992 says:

      5 stars
Right?! I made mine in like 10 minutes and was shocked. Used regular Oreos and they turned out perfect—5 stars from me too 😄

  95. User avatar christian.russel says:

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about using no baking, but they worked. Only thing: crushing the cookies fine matters—mine were a little chunky and the texture was slightly off.

    1. User avatar colby.weissnat64 says:

      5 stars
Same here—I was skeptical too, but the no-bake method is legit. I also found that if you don’t crush the cookies super fine, they kind of clump and don’t set the same. Next time I’m pulsing in the food processor longer.

    2. User avatar kenia.howe41 says:

      4 stars
Interesting! I always thought the cookie chunkiness is fine though 😅 I didn’t chill mine long enough once and they were kinda melty. Did you use regular Oreos or the double-stuff? Might affect how crumbly they get.

Absolutely delicious! These are a hit at every party I make them for!

I totally agree! They are super easy and everyone loves them, especially kids! 🍪

I don’t get it. How can just cookies and cream cheese be that great? Seems too simple… 🤔

  97. User avatar horace.durgan says:

I followed it exactly and they still seemed a bit soft after an hour. I had to refrigerate like 3 hours to firm up. Still delicious though.

Cream cheese + cookies is always a win. Also, refrigerator straight-to-mouth snacks are the best kind.

These cookie balls are AMAZING! I made them for a party and they disappeared fast!

  100. 5 stars
These turned out dangerously good. The Oreo + cream cheese combo is so simple but tastes like a real dessert. I chilled them longer (overnight) and they were perfect.

    1. User avatar ellen.wiza2006 says:

      5 stars
Right?? Oreo + cream cheese sounds too easy but somehow it’s basically instant dessert. Chilling overnight totally makes sense for that firmer, more “cookie bite” texture.

These cookie balls are life-changing! I can’t stop eating them! 😍

    1. 2 stars
Are they really that good? I feel like it’s just cream cheese and cookies, not that special…

    2. 5 stars
I tried these and they’re incredible! Can’t believe how easy they are to make! 🤤

  102. 4 stars
I rolled them too big (like 2 inches) and they took longer to chill, but the flavor was on point. Easy fix for next time.

    1. 5 stars
Totally makes sense—2-inch balls are gonna need a lot more chill time. I’ve found the 1-inch size is key for that perfect firm bite. Glad the flavor still nailed it though!

  103. 3 stars
I’m giving 3 stars because mine didn’t fully firm up after an hour. Maybe my fridge is too warm? Still tasty.

  104. User avatar wynona.williamson89 says:

These are dangerously easy. I used mint Oreos and the filling turned out perfectly creamy—way better than I expected. Definitely making again for the next party!

This is basically edible cheesecake fluff. My kids devoured them and asked for “the Oreo snowballs” again.

  106. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

I tried this with a random Oreo flavor and it got messy—like, crumbs everywhere and the balls wouldn’t hold shape until I chilled longer. Once I was patient, it worked. Maybe I should’ve softened the cream cheese more?

  107. User avatar margy.stiedemann says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, the instructions are spot on. I used a food processor and got super fine crumbs—smooth mixture.

  108. 2 stars
I don’t get it. They’re just cookie crumbs and cream cheese. I guess if you like that combo it works, but I found them too rich and sweet.

    1. User avatar janeen.reichert says:

      3 stars
Idk I think they’re good? It’s like a quick snack—maybe people just mash the cookies too fine? I made mine and they were kinda… not that sweet? But yeah cream cheese is rich for sure 😅

    2. User avatar nicholas.haley38 says:

      4 stars
Totally fair—these are basically cookie + cheesecake vibes, so if you’re not into sweet/rich, I can see how they’d be too much. Next time I’d try a less sweet Oreo flavor or chill longer so they firm up a bit.

  109. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    4 stars
Pretty good for a no-bake situation. I rolled them too fast though and they got warm and sticky, so chill time matters.

  110. User avatar latesha.koepp40 says:

    5 stars
These came out dangerously good. I used mint Oreos and the flavor is so strong in the best way—sweet, creamy, and no baking needed. Next time I’ll make them slightly bigger so they don’t disappear so fast 😄

  111. User avatar armando.rempel96 says:

    4 stars
I made them but mine were a little crumbly. I think I didn’t soften the cream cheese enough. Still tasty though—next time I’ll let it sit longer.

  112. User avatar ArabianNights says:

I don’t know why people bake these. They’re basically cheesecake in disguise. Still—10/10 would make again.

    1. User avatar shawna.christiansen55 says:

Haha I get what you mean—kind of cheesecake vibes, but in ball form 😄 The texture is so good chilled. I’ve made them with mint Oreos and they were dangerously addictive.
