Garlic butter rolls are the kind of comfort food that instantly makes any meal feel special. Soft, fluffy, and filled with rich garlic flavor, these rolls are perfect straight from the oven, brushed generously with melted butter and herbs. Whether served as a side dish or enjoyed on their own, they disappear fast and always leave people asking for the recipe.
What makes garlic butter rolls so irresistible is their texture. The dough is light and pillowy, with just enough structure to soak up the buttery topping without becoming heavy. Using warm milk and yeast creates that classic bakery style softness, while a slow rise helps develop flavor and gives the rolls their tender crumb. Even simple ingredients come together to create something deeply satisfying.
The garlic butter is where the magic really happens. Fresh garlic gently cooked in butter releases a warm, savory aroma that fills the kitchen. Adding chopped parsley or a mix of herbs like thyme and oregano brings freshness and balance. Some people like to finish the butter with a pinch of salt or grated Parmesan for extra depth, turning each bite into a rich, savory experience.
Once the dough is shaped into rolls and arranged snugly in a baking dish, they bake into golden perfection. As they rise and touch each other, the sides stay soft while the tops become lightly crisp. Brushing them with garlic butter before and after baking ensures maximum flavor and that glossy, bakery style finish everyone loves.
Garlic butter rolls are incredibly versatile. They pair beautifully with soups, chicken stews and pasta dishes, making them ideal for family dinners or holiday tables. They are also perfect for soaking up sauces, gravies, or even a simple olive oil dip. Leftovers, if there are any, can be reheated and enjoyed the next day, still soft and flavorful.
Whether you are serving them for a special occasion or just because, garlic butter rolls bring warmth and comfort to the table. They are simple, classic, and always crowd pleasing. One bite of that soft interior and garlicky butter topping is enough to turn any meal into something memorable.

Every time I make these, they vanish within minutes! Favorite recipe ever!
They taste good but they came out kinda flat, not sure if I kneaded enough or what.
Yum! I added some cheese on top and it was a game changer! 10/10 would recommend.
My dough didn’t rise at all. Is the instant yeast supposed to be activated or just mixed in? 😕
You don’t have to activate instant yeast! Just mix it in with the dry ingredients. Maybe your milk was too hot or too cold? That can mess it up. 🤔
These rolls are amazing! The garlic butter flavor is perfect. Will definitely make again!
So fantastic! Keep in mind to keep the butter soft before mixing. Helps so much!
I dunno if I did smthng wrong. My rolls were too hard! Are they supposed to be like that?
I followed the recipe exactly, but my rolls turned out too dense. What did I do wrong?
I’m not a great baker, but these were surprisingly easy to make! My family loved them.
Flour and sugar? Easy mix! But kneading for 10 mins felt like forever. Can I skip it?
These smelled amazing while baking—like straight-up comfort food. The garlic flavor is strong but still balanced with the buttery topping. My rolls were perfectly golden around 18 minutes.
Hmm maybe my garlic was too much? I followed it, but the rolls came out kinda bready and not as buttery. Next time I might add a touch more butter or let them rise longer—18 min seems okay though.
Totally agree—mine smelled like comfort food too. I also did 18 minutes and got that perfect golden color. The garlic is bold without tasting “raw,” which is hard to pull off!
lol 1 hour rise then only 15 minutes second rise—seems too short? I tried anyway and it was decent, but I waited longer the second time and they improved a lot.
Yeah 15 minutes for the second rise always feels kinda short to me too—depends how warm your kitchen is. If they got better when you waited longer, you were probably right to trust the dough instead of the clock.
Not gonna lie, 2 tablespoons minced garlic seems like a lot for me, but I tried it anyway. Next time I’ll cut it in half. Texture was nice though—soft rolls.
These rolls are amazing! They puffed up perfectly and tasted delicious. Definitely a new favorite! 🍞❤️
I made these for a family dinner and everyone loved them too! Super easy to make, thanks for sharing! 😊
Delicious! The garlic butter topping is the best part. I might double it next time. 😋
Y’all, it’s just bread. Why all the fuss? But hey, they smell good.
Pretty solid recipe, but 8-10 minutes kneading wasn’t quite enough for me—mine felt a little tacky. I added a bit more flour and kneaded another few minutes. Still delicious.
Totally agree—my first time doing these I thought 8–10 min would be fine, but the dough stayed a bit tacky too. A few extra minutes (and just a light dusting of flour) made a huge difference. Glad you still got delicious rolls!
My rolls burnt after 15 minutes! 😡 Guess my oven is hotter or something. Will try again but lower temp next time.
I don’t think ovens are supposed to burn things that fast. Maybe check it or something? 🤔
I had the same issue with burning! My oven runs hot too. Lowering the temp really helped. Keep trying! 🔥
These rolls are AMAZING! So fluffy and full of flavor. I made them for dinner, and everyone loved them!
I’m so glad you loved them! They really are the best rolls ever. Perfect for any dinner!
Quick question, how much is a packet of yeast? I don’t think I’ve seen it in the store.
I wasn’t sure about using garlic in rolls, but wow! This recipe is a game-changer. So good with spaghetti!
I totally agree! Garlic in rolls is unexpected but so delicious! I can’t believe I never tried it before. Thanks for sharing!
My rolls turned out hard on the outside. I think I overbaked them by a few minutes and didn’t brush while they were hot enough. Still tasty though.
Yeah, that sounds like classic overbaking + not brushing at the right time. I’ve found 15 minutes is plenty in most ovens—aim for lightly golden, not deep brown. Also, if you brush when they’re still hot (right after coming out), the crust stays softer and they smell amazing.
Honestly, I found the dough too sticky. I had to add more flour, but they turned out ok in the end.
Super easy recipe! I used dried parsley though. It still tasted good! 👍
So garlicky and buttery! I didn’t have fresh parsley, so I used dried. Still yum!
Yum!
Just made these, and I love them! Next time, I’m adding cheese inside. 🧀
But are they really good tho? Adding cheese ain’t the only way to make them better.
Yum! Cheese sounds like a great idea! I might try that too next time.
I dunno, man. They looked great, but couldn’t taste the garlic much. Disappointing. 🤷♂️
I get that! Too much bread and not enough garlic can be a letdown. Maybe try adding more garlic next time? 😅
I’m skeptical about only 2 tablespoons garlic—seems kinda mild. Also, 110°F milk is oddly specific; I guessed and it still worked though.
I get you—2 tbsp garlic sounds light. But minced garlic really spreads its flavor once it’s in the butter + baked. I’d probably do a little extra if you like it punchy.
2 cups flour for 12 rolls seems kinda… tight? Also instant yeast should be proofed? Idk I’m not convinced, but they smelled amazing while baking.
Rolls came out alright, but a bit heavy. Not sure if I did it right or if it was the flour.
I followed everything and used 110°F milk, but my dough was super sticky and wouldn’t get “smooth and elastic” after 10 minutes. Had to add more flour. Also 375°F seems a bit low? Maybe my oven runs cool.
These are kinda dangerous—dangerous good. I ate like two before the meal. The texture is perfect and the parsley is a nice touch.
The dough was a little sticky at first, but after kneading the full 10 minutes it turned smooth. Rise time worked for me even in a cool kitchen (barely).
Good to hear! Mine was sticky too until I kept kneading—glad it turned smooth for you. What kind of garlic did you use (fresh or the jar minced)?
Garlic flavor is nice, but 12 rolls felt small to me. I think I should divide into 10 next time. Also, 375°F is fine—I just wish they were a tad more browned.
These came out super soft and golden—exactly what I wanted. The garlic butter smell while baking is unreal. I’ll definitely make them again for dinner guests!
Yes!! Mine did the same thing—those garlic butter smells are next-level. Great call on making them for guests 😊
Pretty good, but I think I should’ve let the dough rise longer the first time. Mine didn’t double, so the rolls came out a little denser than I wanted. Still tasty with the butter/parsley.
I followed the recipe exactly, but mine didn’t rise much. Could it be the yeast? Or maybe I missed something?
It sounds like your yeast might not have been active enough. Did you check the expiration date? Sometimes old yeast won’t rise properly.
I dunno, I made these rolls and they rose just fine! Maybe you should’ve let them sit longer? 🤔
I followed it exactly, but my rolls didn’t rise much after the first hour. Could’ve been my yeast or my “warm place” wasn’t warm enough. Taste is good though—will try again.
Not bad, but I found them slightly bland. I added extra salt and garlic to the butter brush and it fixed it. Still worth it.
