Baked Brie with Blackberry Jam

February 13, 2025

Baked brie with blackberry jam is the ultimate appetizer, offering a perfect balance of creamy, gooey cheese and the sweet, slightly tart flavor of fresh blackberry jam. This elegant and simple dish is ideal for special occasions, holiday gatherings, or a cozy evening with friends. The warmth of the baked brie and the fruity richness of the jam create a comforting, delicious bite that’s impossible to resist.

The star of the dish is, of course, the brie cheese. Brie’s creamy texture and mild, buttery flavor become even more indulgent when baked. As the cheese warms in the oven, it softens and becomes luxuriously smooth, making it perfect for spreading on crackers or bread.

The blackberry jam adds a fruity contrast to the richness of the cheese. The sweet jam, with its vibrant berry flavor, perfectly complements the mild brie, while the slight acidity of the blackberries adds a depth of flavor that elevates the dish. A drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of fresh thyme or rosemary can be added to enhance the flavors and give the dish a more complex, aromatic touch.

To make this dish even more visually appealing, it can be served in a small baking dish, with the brie wheel intact, allowing guests to scoop out the soft, melted cheese and pair it with the jam. Serve it alongside crispy baguette slices, crackers, or fresh fruit like apple slices or grapes for an added layer of texture and freshness.

Baked brie with blackberry jam is a versatile appetizer. You can easily swap out the blackberry jam for other fruit preserves, such as raspberry, fig, or apricot, depending on your preference. It’s also perfect for pairing with a glass of white wine, sparkling wine, or even a light cocktail, making it a hit at any party.

Easy to make and so delicious! Will definitely make again. 10/10 recommend!!

I dunno, I thought it would be more melty? It was kinda dense. Maybe I didn’t bake it long enough?

    1. User avatar Blue Dartwing says:

      4 stars
Maybe try baking it a bit longer next time? Sometimes it just needs that extra time to get all melty and gooey! 😋

  3. 2 stars
Nah, I think brie is overrated. I put craft cheese instead and it was better. Just my opinion.

Looks good, but how do I know if the cheese is melting properly? I dunno much about cooking fancy stuff like this.

Can’t believe people like this. Too cheesy for me and the jam was weird with it. Just not my thing 🤷‍♀️.

    1. 5 stars
Nah, I think it’s delish! The jam adds flavor! You just might not like the mix. Keep trying different combos!

    2. 4 stars
I totally get that! It’s definitely an acquired taste. But I think the cheesiness actually contrasts sweet jams nicely. Maybe give it another go without the jam?

It looked great but didn’t taste like I thought it would. Kind of bland for my liking. Maybe I needed more jam? 🤔

  14. 2 stars
My family didn’t like it. They said the cheese was too strong.

  15. User avatar evonne.langosh says:

So good! But I used strawberry jam instead and it was still awesome. Who knew brie could be so fancy?!

    1. 2 stars
Fancy? It’s just cheese wrapped in pastry, right? I dunno about fancy…

    2. 5 stars
I never thought of using strawberry jam! That sounds great! I gotta try that next time.

  16. User avatar diana.kuphal1988 says:

    2. User avatar margery.abshire47 says:

Looks good, but is Brie really the best cheese for this? I’ve seen it made with cheddar too.

  17. User avatar kathie.veum says:

    2 stars
Is it okay to use other cheese? I only have mozzarella. 😬

    1. User avatar Reg Nullify says:

      4 stars
I think mozzarella would work too! Just make sure to add some herbs or spices to give it more flavor! 👍

    2. User avatar mario.olson says:

      3 stars
You could use mozzarella, but it won’t taste the same. Brie has a rich flavor that mozzarella doesn’t have, so it might be different. 😕

  18. 5 stars
Who thought of this? Big thumbs up! Perfect for parties! Just throw in some nuts and it’s a hit! 🙌

What do you mean ‘wheel’ of brie? Do I need a special tool to cut it? LOL.

    4 stars
Delicious! I used raspberry instead of blackberry and it turned out great! 😋

  22. User avatar lizzzard says:

Baked Brie? Isn’t that just melted cheese? My kids hated it!

    1. User avatar laure.sanford says:

      3 stars
Melted cheese is like half of it! The pastry makes it special! Your kids must be picky eaters, you should try other toppings.

    2. User avatar wilber.vandervort12 says:

      5 stars
I actually loved it! The jam adds a nice flavor. Maybe they just didn’t like the combination? Try it with honey next time!

  23. User avatar wendy.zulauf says:

I tried it but I think I baked it too long. It turned out a bit burnt 😬. Should have watched it more closely.

    1. User avatar kenna.muller33 says:

      4 stars
Don’t worry! A little burnt just adds character. Next time, maybe set a timer or something? 😄

  24. User avatar letisha.kutch61 says:

Brie cheese is just a fancy way of saying ‘cheese that smells funny’! Why not just use cheddar? 🤷‍♂️
