Some dips are tasty, and some dips are unforgettable. Million Dollar Dip falls squarely into the second category. Also called Cheddar Bacon Cream Cheese Dip, this indulgent spread has all the ingredients of something you’ll crave again and again-sharp cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, green onions, and a creamy, tangy base. Whether you serve it with crackers, chips, or crunchy vegetables, this dip is guaranteed to disappear fast.
The origin of the name “Million Dollar Dip” speaks to its irresistible flavor. It tastes like it’s worth a million bucks, rich, creamy, and packed with bold, satisfying ingredients. Some versions use mayonnaise as the creamy base, while others lean into cream cheese for extra thickness and tang. Either way, the texture is smooth and spreadable, perfect for scooping onto crackers or stuffing into celery sticks.
Cheddar cheese gives the dip a sharp, nutty kick, while bacon adds a smoky crunch that takes things to the next level. The green onions or chives offer just enough brightness to balance out the richness, making every bite layered with flavor. Optional add-ins like garlic powder, slivered almonds, or a dash of hot sauce can elevate it even further.
What makes Million Dollar Dip so beloved, aside from the flavor, is how easy it is to make. No baking or complicated steps required. Just stir everything together, chill it for a bit so the flavors meld, and it’s ready to go. It’s the kind of dish you can throw together 15 minutes before guests arrive and still impress everyone.
Perfect for game day, potlucks, family gatherings, or even late-night snacking, this dip is a go-to for casual entertaining. It’s also easy to double or triple the batch when you’re feeding a crowd.
In short, Million Dollar Dip is comfort food in a bowl-rich, creamy, a little salty, and totally addictive. Once you make it, it’s almost guaranteed to earn a permanent spot in your appetizer rotation.

Honestly, “a million dollar” is dramatic but it IS really good. I added a little black pepper and it tasted like a party dip from a restaurant.
Yes!! I’m obsessed with this dip—black pepper is such a good call. A “party dip” is exactly what it is 😄
I followed it exactly and it turned out great, though I think 8 oz cream cheese is a little low for the amount of sour cream—still worked, just a softer dip than I expected.
My kids didn’t like it, but me and my friends thought it was great. Weird, right?
This dip is to die for! Super creamy and just the right amount of bacon. Definitely a crowd-pleaser!
I added some salsa to it and it was bomb!
I didn’t have bacon bits, so I used real bacon I cooked. It was way better! Not sure about the sour cream tho.
This dip is an absolute game-changer! So rich and creamy. Perfect at parties!
I made this for a potluck, and it got devoured quickly! Just a little too garlicky for my taste though.
This dip was SO good! Everyone loved it at the party! Definitely a keeper.
My electric mixer struggled for a minute—could’ve been my block wasn’t soft enough. After I let it sit out longer, it whipped fine. Flavor is strong in a good way.
Tried it exactly as written. It was good, but I found it a bit salty (maybe my bacon bits were extra salty). Still ate all of it though.
I tried making this, but my cream cheese didn’t soften properly. The texture was awful and I ended up just throwing it away. 😞
I’m usually skeptical of “million dollar” recipes, but wow. I chilled it for an hour and it got even better. Next time I’ll add a little extra green onion.
This dip was a hit at my party! Everyone wanted the recipe. Definitely worth trying!
A million dollar? More like a billion dollar! Loved it!
I don’t get it. Bacon bits + sour cream + cheese… sounds heavy. I tried one bite and was like, nope. Maybe with less garlic powder? Or more veggies? Idk.
Idk about “1 block” cream cheese… I bought 8 oz and also 1 lb, then panicked. Taste was good once I fixed it, but the labeling could be clearer. Also, I used low-sodium sour cream and it was a little bland.
This is dangerously easy. I used extra cheddar because… why not. Also, “real bacon bits” is key—mine were a little smoky and it was perfect with tortilla chips.
Right?! I tried this and it’s basically zero effort but tastes like you worked all day. The “real bacon bits” part is legit—smoky ones make it pop. Extra cheddar is always the correct answer 😂
Not sure about the name “A Million Dollar Dip” 😅. It’s good, sure, but feels like basically a loaded cream cheese situation. Still, I’ll make it again because everyone ate it.
Yummy! But I added spicy jalapenos for a kick! 🔥
Yum!!! Can’t stop eating it! 😋
Yum! Just made it for game night and it was gone in minutes! 🏈
Is this really worth a million dollars?? 😂 Just seems like any other dip to me.
Honestly, it’s just a dip. I don’t see how it can be a million dollars worth! 😂
I don’t know, it’s just cream cheese and bacon… kinda overrated if you ask me.
Great recipe! I added some jalapeños for a kick! 🌶️🔥
It’s okay, but cream cheese dips are kinda all the same to me. Didn’t blow my mind, but I’d make it again for convenience.
I don’t get the hype. The bacon bits overwhelmed everything for me and the garlic powder was too strong. Maybe cut bacon down next time.
Totally fair—bacon bits can be super salty/intense. I’d try cutting them down (even half) and maybe use a little less garlic powder too. Next time, start with 1/2 tsp garlic and taste as you go.
Made this for a game night and it disappeared FAST. Super creamy, the bacon bits really make it feel “million dollar.” I chilled it first and it was even better.
Made this for a potluck and it vanished fast. Everyone kept asking for the recipe. I used tortilla chips and it was perfect.
Million Dollar Dip? More like a million calories! But I can’t say I didn’t enjoy every bite. Worth it!
I dunno, seems kinda fattening with all the cheese and bacon. I think I’ll skip this one.
Meh, taste was okay but not worth all the hype. I think it needs more flavor or something.
I dunno, I made it and thought it was really good. You sure you followed the recipe? 🤔
I thought it was amazing! Maybe try adding more spices next time? It could really kick it up a notch!
I don’t get why everyone loves this so much. It was okay, I guess? Just tasted like cheese.
This is basically loaded nacho cheese dip, right? I guess that’s not a bad thing. I served it with tortilla chips and it held up great.
Yummmmm. Bacon makes everything better! Can’t wait to make this for the game night!
ugh this looks heavy, I’m trying to lose weight. But maybe weekend treat! LOL
Not gonna lie, “a million dollar” is a bold claim… but it’s definitely a solid party dip. Could’ve used slightly more green onion for freshness.
I followed it pretty closely—maybe used a bit less bacon—and it still tasted amazing. Next time I’ll add more green onions because I love that fresh bite.
I mean… bacon bits, cheddar, cream cheese—yeah that’s gonna taste amazing no matter what. I did it once and mine was a little too salty though, so I’d watch the bacon amount.
This sounds dangerously good 😄 I’m definitely doing the extra green onions next time too—fresh bite makes it pop.
Made this for game night and it was gone in like 10 minutes. Creamy, salty, and the bacon bits actually taste “real” (not that sad fake stuff). Would absolutely make again.
super easy to make, but like why call it million dollar? It’s just a dip!
Made this for my kids. They loved it. Super easy and fast to make. Can’t go wrong!
I don’t trust dips with only a few ingredients called “a million dollar.” sounds like marketing lol. But I’ll admit, it’s pretty addictive.
Easy to make! But I think it needs a bit more garlic or some spice.
umm i added extra sour cream and now it’s like soup 😭 still tastes good tho. maybe i shoulda chilled it longer? not sure
Idk… I used regular bacon bits (not real) and it tasted kinda salty. Might be fine if you use the right kind. Would make again but adjust salt.
I tried it with the cheap bacon bits once and same thing… came out way too salty. Next time I’ll use the recipe’s “real” ones or cut back on the garlic/poke in a little more sour cream to balance.
Good call on the bacon bits—real bacon bits can be way saltier than the “regular” ones. I’d definitely start with less and taste as you go.
Not sure about the green onions in it. Could have used something else?
Y’all, this is SO good! But maybe a bit too rich for my taste. I had to wash it down with water!
This is dangerously good. The bacon + cheddar combo is exactly what I want for game day. I chilled it for an hour and it got even better.
Yum!
Right?! This dip is dangerously good 😄 The cream cheese + sour cream combo is perfect—plus the bacon bits… I’m sold.
So… it’s basically like a cheesy bacon cheesecake dip? Sounds good but 8 oz cream cheese is maybe not enough for a crowd lol. Still, I’d try it on chips.
I made a mistake and use guacamole instead of sour cream… still tasted ok.
Uhh, where do you even find real bacon bits? I only see fake ones at the store?? 🤔
Couldn’t find “real bacon bits,” used cooked bacon that I crumbled myself. Still amazing—more smoky flavor and way less salty than some brands.
I followed it exactly and it turned out a little thicker than expected. Maybe my cream cheese wasn’t truly room temp. Next time I’ll soften longer.
I tried it and it was way too salty for me. Real bacon bits are delicious, but next time I’ll cut the amount or choose a less salty bacon brand. Still creamy, just not my vibe.
I used fridge-cold cream cheese because I forgot to soften it 😬 It was lumpy at first but mixing longer helped. Lesson learned: soften it!
This dip is a hit at every party! So creamy and cheesy, everyone loves it.
Not gonna lie, “million dollar dip” sounds like clickbait, but the flavor is legit. Mixing with a hand mixer is key—otherwise it’s lumpy.
Clickbait name, but I agree—the texture is totally different if the cream cheese isn’t room temp. I tried it once without the hand mixer… never again. This stuff is dangerously good with chips.
I made this on a whim and it was gone in minutes. Kids loved it!
That’s awesome to hear! Kids really know what they like. I’m definitely trying this next time I have a party!
Sounds good, but how do you know it was gone in minutes? Did you count them? 😂
Super easy and creamy. The only thing—my green onions were too watery, so I squeezed them a bit. Next time I’ll use less.
Just tried it and honestly… it’s kinda rich. Tastes good, but I can’t do big portions. Maybe serve with veggie sticks for balance.
Made this for game night and it vanished fast. Creamy, salty, and the green onions really brighten it up. I chilled it and it tasted even better after a couple hours.
I followed it exactly except I used smoked cheddar and turkey bacon bits. Still worked, but it tasted a bit flatter. Next time I’m doing real bacon bits again.
Real bacon bits are the move—smoked cheddar + turkey bits can definitely mute that classic salty, savory punch. Glad it still worked though!
I followed the recipe mostly, but it came out a bit thick for spreading. Next time I’ll add a tablespoon or two more sour cream or maybe mix in while it’s still warmer.
Mine did the same, kinda gloopy/spreadable only if you let it sit out. Next time I’ll try 1–2 extra spoons like you said. Also wondering if I over-mixed? But yeah, thick dip is still tasty.
Good call on adding a bit more sour cream! I’ve noticed it thickens a lot once it chills—mixing while it’s still a little warm usually helps loosen it too.
Not bad, but it tasted a bit one-note to me. I’d add some black pepper or a pinch of cayenne next time for a little kick.
Easy prep, but I did need a bit more garlic powder than 1 tsp (just personal taste). Still creamy and super flavorful.
Too much cheese, I think. But if you like that stuff, go for it. Enjoyed it tho.
The instructions are simple, but “whip” made me nervous lol. Mine came out smooth though. I served it with tortilla chips and everyone asked for the recipe.
Haha I get you—“whip” sounds like it’s supposed to be dramatic 😅 But if your cream cheese was room temp, it basically turns into that super smooth dip. Love that you served it with tortilla chips—big flavor combo!
I dunno, way too much sour cream for my liking. Might try it with less next time.
Dijon mustard in this?? Sounded weird but i put it in anyway, turns out great!
I’m surprised that worked! Dijon mustard isn’t something I’d think to put in a dip. Glad it turned out well! Now I’m curious to try it too.
Easy peasy. Quick party win.
Totally agree—this is such a quick, crowd-pleaser dip. I added a little extra green onion and it vanished immediately at my party 😄
Not gonna lie, the garlic powder is a bit strong for me. I think next time I’ll go half. Otherwise it’s a solid dip.
Totally get that—garlic powder can hit hard. Half next time is a great fix; you could even add a little at a time and taste as you mix.
I accidentally used “bacon bits” that weren’t real, and it tasted… weirdly sweet? Not terrible, but def not the same. Real bacon bits matter.
My mixer was struggling a bit with all the cheese. I had to stir by hand a minute. Still tasted amazing though.
Super easy and no cooking, which is always a win in my book. I added a pinch of pepper and it bumped it up. Kinda dangerous how addictive it is.
This is the kind of dip that looks fancy but is basically just cheesy cream cheese stuff. My family ate it with Ritz and kept asking for more.
Made this for game night and it disappeared fast. The texture is super creamy, and the bacon + cheddar combo is perfect. I chilled it for an hour and it got even better.
Pretty tasty, but I think it needed more green onions. Also mine got a little thick when chilled—probably my sour cream was older? Still good with chips.
I tried “serve immediately” and it was good, but when I chilled it, the top got kinda stiff? Maybe my cream cheese wasn’t actually room temp.
1 teaspoon garlic powder felt a little strong? Or maybe my cheddar was sharp. Still flavorful, just not mild like I thought it would be.
Yeah I get that—sharp cheddar can totally overpower the “mild” vibe. Next time try a milder cheddar or cut the garlic powder to 1/2 tsp.
This is dangerously easy. I mixed it in like 5 minutes with a hand mixer, then ate it with tortilla chips right away. No regrets.
