Popular Baked Bean Brand Has Just Been Recalled Across 23 States

May 8, 2025

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of 4,515 cases of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans produced by Vietti Food Group, based in Nashville. The recall was issued due to the presence of undeclared soy, posing a potentially serious or life-threatening risk for individuals with soy allergies or sensitivities.

The affected product—15-ounce cans labeled with a Best if Used By date of Feb. 17, 2028—was sold through major retailers including Walmart, Meijer, Hy-Vee, KVAT Food Stores, and Associated Wholesale Grocers. Distribution spanned across 23 states, including Texas, New York, Illinois, Florida, and Virginia.

How to Check Your Product

To determine if your canned beans are part of the recall, look for the lot code printed on the bottom of the can. Only specific lots with the listed date are affected.

Consumers in possession of these beans should not eat them, regardless of allergy status. The FDA advises discarding the product or returning it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Individuals with a soy allergy are at risk of severe reactions, including anaphylaxis.
