Pear Salad With Blue Cheese

March 6, 2025

Pear salad with blue cheese is a beautiful example of how contrasting flavors and textures can come together to create something elegant and satisfying. The crisp sweetness of fresh pear plays perfectly against the bold, creamy tang of blue cheese, creating a salad that feels light yet indulgent. Whether served as a starter, a side, or even a light main course, this salad is a timeless choice for anyone who enjoys bold flavor pairings.

The foundation of this salad is, of course, ripe pears. Varieties like Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou are ideal for their sweet flavor and firm texture. When sliced thin, they offer a delicate juiciness that complements the sharpness of the cheese without overpowering it. Blue cheese adds a luxurious creaminess and pungent depth that transforms each bite into something memorable. Gorgonzola and Roquefort are popular choices, but even a milder blue can bring the right amount of contrast.

To balance out the richness, the salad often includes crisp greens like arugula, spinach, or mixed spring lettuces. Candied or toasted walnuts or pecans add crunch and a nutty richness that ties the elements together. A simple vinaigrette made with balsamic vinegar or lemon juice, olive oil, and a touch of honey enhances the fruitiness of the pears and mellows the intensity of the cheese.

What makes pear salad with blue cheese especially appealing is its versatility. It pairs beautifully with roast meats, hearty grain dishes, or crusty bread. It works in both warm and cold months, transitioning effortlessly from a holiday dinner table to a light summer lunch. You can add sliced red onions for bite, dried cranberries for sweetness, or even a few thin slices of prosciutto to make it more filling.

This salad is proof that simple ingredients, when thoughtfully combined, can make a dish feel sophisticated and special. It’s a celebration of seasonal produce, creamy indulgence, and well-balanced flavor.

I dunno…gorgonzola instead of blue cheese? Isn’t that kinda the same? The whole thing seemed a bit dry to me

  2. User avatar Hilaria Leffler says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! The flavors blend so well together. The sweetness of the pear with the tangy blue cheese is just stunning!

  3. 5 stars
This salad is sooo good! The blue cheese really adds a nice kick. Will make again!

  4. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty, but I think I needed a bit more vinaigrette—mine felt slightly dry. Still, super easy and looks fancy for almost no effort.

What can I sub for mixed greens? We got spinach in the fridge.

  6. User avatar chris.davis says:

Okay but balsamic vinaigrette is kinda cheating 😂 I put my own dressing and it was still good. Pear got a little browning because I waited too long, so cut right before serving!

    1. User avatar solomon.deckow40 says:

      5 stars
Haha I get it—balsamic is basically the cheat code 😄 But your tip about slicing/serving timing is spot on. I always forget and mine turns brown too.

  7. User avatar heriberto.mertz says:

This looks refreshingly simple. The combo of pear + blue cheese + walnuts is chef’s kiss—perfect balance of sweet and salty. I’ll probably add a tiny pinch of cracked pepper too.

    1. User avatar nathanael.gleason67 says:

      5 stars
So simple but sounds insanely good. Pear + blue cheese is a top-tier combo, and the walnuts add the crunch I always want. I might skip the pepper since the vinaigrette already has some bite, but I get why you’d add it.

  8. User avatar steven.fritsch says:

    2 stars
Can you use a different dressing? Balsamic makes it too sweet for my taste.

I was sceptical about putting fruit in a salad but WOW! I loved this mix. Who knew?!

    1. User avatar abe.heller75 says:

      3 stars
Really? Fruit in a salad seems weird to me. Is it really that good? I might try it but I’m not convinced!

    2. User avatar allen.erdman says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! Adding fruit really takes it to the next level. This is my new favorite salad! 🍐❤️

This was super refreshing—sweet pear + salty blue cheese is such a good combo. I used Gorgonzola like you suggested and it turned out great. The walnuts really make it feel “complete.”

  12. User avatar hayden.gutmann43 says:

    3 stars
Meh. I mean, it’s a salad. How great can it really be?

I get where you’re coming from, but salad can be more than just leaves! The mix of flavors here is amazing! 🤤

  13. 4 stars
This was easy and quick. I added strawberries because I had some. So good!

  14. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

    5 stars
This is such a refreshing combo—sweet pear with salty blue cheese is perfect. I used a slightly sweeter balsamic vinaigrette and it really popped.

  15. User avatar Tahm Kench says:

    4 stars
wow pretty colors, tastes good. Would make again 🙂

  16. 5 stars
Loved the texture! Toasting the walnuts gave it that extra depth. I’d definitely make this again.

  17. User avatar clyde.powlowski13 says:

I thought Pears were too sweet for salad, but turns out they are perfect with the blue cheese. Good combo!

  18. User avatar Wanita Rutherford says:

    3 stars
idk why people like blue cheese… but the walnuts helped. Also my pear got brown fast bc I sliced it too early 😅

  19. 1 star
    Salad? Nah, where’s the meat?

  20. 4 stars
Pear salad sounds like something from a magazine that costs $30, but honestly it was easy. I did not toast the walnuts long enough so they were a bit soft.

  21. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    2 stars
Not gonna lie, I don’t get why people like blue cheese so much. It smelled weird to me, and the whole salad felt too funky. Maybe it’s just my taste.

  22. User avatar joe_banana says:

    4 stars
Gorgonzola is WAY better than blue cheese! Just sayin’.

  23. 1 star
Can you really call this a recipe? Throwing some things together isn’t cooking!

    1. User avatar Gail Andrews says:

      4 stars
I think simple recipes like this can be just as valid! Sometimes less is more, you know? 🌱

    2. User avatar edris.paucek1980 says:

      2 stars
This ain’t even cooking! Just throwing stuff on a plate. Where’s the actual skill?

  24. User avatar Falmer Archer says:

    5 stars
Yum! Love this mix. 10/10 salad.

  25. 4 stars
The balsamic vinaigrette really ties it together. I’d just like the recipe to specify whether to toss or drizzle—mine stayed pretty untossed.

    1. User avatar brigid.emard says:

      5 stars
Good catch—this recipe says *drizzle* (Step 4: “Drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette before serving”), so what you did untossed makes sense. If you want it more coated, you could gently toss right before serving, but start with less vinaigrette and add as needed.

why would anyone ruin a perfect pear with cheese? just eat the pear lol

  27. User avatar malcom.bogan says:

  28. User avatar Oolon Colluphid says:

Ridiculously easy. I’m putting this in my “weeknight salad” rotation. 10/10 would eat again.

  29. User avatar hubert.bosco says:

    5 stars
This was surprisingly fancy for how simple it is. The pear + blue cheese combo is spot on, and the walnuts add a nice crunch. I’ll definitely make it again.

  30. User avatar ivey.schmeler2005 says:

    5 stars
Delicious! My husband called it “restaurant salad.” I used balsamic vinaigrette and it hit the spot.

    1. 5 stars
Aww that sounds perfect—“restaurant salad” is exactly the vibe. 😄 The balsamic vinaigrette and blue cheese combo is such a win!

  31. User avatar flo.reichert1964 says:

This salad was bleh… not my thing. Maybe too healthy for my taste?

  32. User avatar korey.hudson77 says:

    2 stars
This is not a full meal. I had to eat something else after! Kind of lame.

    1. User avatar florentina.dare says:

      3 stars
But, like, salads aren’t supposed to be filling! That’s why we eat them, right? 😅

    2. 4 stars
I thought it was a nice light dish! Perfect as a side. Maybe try adding some protein next time?

  33. User avatar clair.oconnell says:

    2 stars
This is one of those salads that looks good in photos but doesn’t fill you up… still, I admit it tastes good.

  34. 5 stars
This salad is so refreshing! I love the combination of flavors.

  35. User avatar Malborn says:

    3 stars
IDK, I think blue cheese is too strong for a salad. Gorgonzola might be better.

    1. User avatar mel.champlin60 says:

      5 stars
I love blue cheese in salads! It adds such a nice flavor. But if you prefer Gorgonzola, that works too!

    2. User avatar augustine.ritchie says:

      2 stars
Nah, blue cheese is where it’s at! Gorgonzola ain’t the same, you know?

  36. User avatar kathlene.mayer95 says:

    4 stars
I tried something similar and it was really good, but I’d cut the blue cheese a bit if you’re not into strong flavors. Also, make sure the walnuts are truly toasted or they get kinda dull.

  37. User avatar maria.greenfelder43 says:

    2 stars
Ehh, it was okay. I think the blue cheese is kinda stinky and not my style.

    1. User avatar hyman.jacobi says:

      5 stars
I actually love blue cheese! It adds such a strong flavor to the salad. Maybe try it with feta next time?

    2. User avatar simone.murphy83 says:

      3 stars
Blue cheese is the best! But hey, everyone has their taste. Did you like the walnuts at least?

  38. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    3 stars
Blue cheese is not my thing, but I tried it anyway. It’s okay, just a little too strong for me. I’d reduce it next time or mix in a mild cheese.

    1. User avatar Pasta Fasta says:

      3 stars
Hmm I dunno, I love blue cheese 😅 Maybe you used too much? Also balsamic kinda makes it stronger in my opinion. Try apple or something sweet instead of balsamic, or just do less blue cheese. Anyway good idea to mix cheeses.

    2. 5 stars
Totally get it—blue cheese can be overpowering. Cutting it down (or doing half blue/half a milder cheese like feta or Gorgonzola-light) is a great move. Next time you could also crumble it smaller so it spreads more evenly.

  39. User avatar ben.moen2024 says:

    1 star
Silly recipe. I tried it and it didn’t work. You can’t just mix greens and expect magic.

    1. User avatar pablo.fay2001 says:

      4 stars
I think you’re missing out! It’s super refreshing and the cheese adds a lot of flavor. Maybe your greens were too wilted? 🤷‍♀️

  40. User avatar alejandro.feil says:

    3 stars
Way too salty with the cheese! I think I prefer goat cheese instead next time. Just my opinion.

    1. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

      3 stars
I didn’t find it salty at all, maybe you added too much cheese? Just a thought.

    2. User avatar edgar.carter says:

      5 stars
I totally get your point! Blue cheese can be overpowering, goat cheese sounds like a delicious alternative! 😊

  41. User avatar steve_maga says:

    4 stars
Pretty easy to make and delicious. The walnuts give it a nice crunch. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  42. 4 stars
Made it for lunch and it felt fancy for basically no effort. Toasting the walnuts first is key—otherwise they get a little soggy.

  43. 2 stars
I tried this and it was sooo bland. Maybe more dressing would help? I dunno, but it didn’t wow me.

  44. User avatar leon.russel96 says:

    1 star
Salad? Did they say this was a salad? Looks like a snack to me. 😂

    1. User avatar kermit.ziemann says:

      4 stars
I thought the same! Looks more like a fancy appetizer. 😂 But it does sound delicious! 😋

  45. User avatar randell.marvin7 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I think 1/4 cup blue cheese is a lot for my taste. Next time I’ll go lighter and add more greens.

  46. User avatar rosaria.lubowitz42 says:

    3 stars
I’m not usually a blue cheese person, but I tried it anyway. It wasn’t as strong as I feared—still, I’d probably use less cheese next time.

  47. User avatar shaniqua.mohr1961 says:

    1 star
Meh. It tasted like random stuff. Didn’t wow me at all.

  48. User avatar Future Trunks says:

    4 stars
I dont like salads usually, but this one has a nice crunch and the balsamic is yum.

    1. User avatar meda.hagenes82 says:

      5 stars
I’m not a salad fan either, but this one sounds awesome! The crunchy pears must be great with the cheese!

  49. User avatar anh.price68 says:

    4 stars
I don’t like walnuts, can I use almonds instead? 🤔

  50. User avatar Frodo Baggins says:

    3 stars
Yum! But not for me. My cousin used this recipe and burnt it in the oven? Must’ve put it in wrong.

    1. 4 stars
Sounds like your cousin might have a knack for burning things! This salad is really hard to mess up though. Maybe they didn’t watch it closely?

  51. User avatar Maryann McCullough says:

    5 stars
This salad is amazing! The blue cheese really adds a nice kick to it. Definitely making it again!

  52. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure about the blue cheese amount—felt a little too strong for my taste. Maybe I’ll do half next time. But overall it was still good.

    1. User avatar sam.emard76 says:

      5 stars
Half sounds perfect—blue cheese can be super punchy depending on the brand. Glad it still worked out for you!

    2. 4 stars
Interesting—mine was way less strong than I expected, maybe because I used a milder gorgonzola? Either way, good idea to start with half.

  53. User avatar jacques.runolfsson74 says:

    3 stars
I tried it and the vinaigrette soaked everything instantly. Also I thought it said 2 tbsp of walnuts at first (??). Anyway, it was still good, just wetter than expected.

  54. 5 stars
Yessss! Pear + nuts = happiness. Made it twice this week!

  55. User avatar Ilban Richese says:

    3 stars
Uh, didn’t have any walnuts. Used peanuts instead… still turned out alright!

    1. User avatar Fenchurch says:

      5 stars
Peanuts? That’s different! I never thought of that, but I’m glad it still worked! Planning to try it now!

  56. User avatar lashanda.koelpin15 says:

    4 stars
Quick and easy. Just threw it together for a lunch, and it was yummy! Who knew pears and cheese were a match? 😍

  57. User avatar curtis.orn2013 says:

    4 stars
Wasn’t sure about blue cheese, but actually loved it! Will definitely make again.

    1. User avatar kenton.okuneva2000 says:

      3 stars
Really? Blue cheese seems strong to me. I’m not sure I’d like it. Gorgonzola is better?

    2. 5 stars
I’m glad you liked it! Blue cheese can be a game changer in salads. Definitely trying this soon!

  58. User avatar coreen.corwin says:

    5 stars
This was surprisingly fancy for how simple it is. The sweet pear + salty blue cheese combo is legit.

  59. User avatar jordon.prosacco says:

    2 stars
Meh. I don’t like salads, but my friend said she liked it. So… maybe it’s just not my thing.

  60. User avatar delbert.wisozk22 says:

    5 stars
This salad is amazing! The flavors mix so well together. I added some grilled chicken too!

  61. User avatar Meriadoc Brandybuck says:

    2 stars
Not sure about the whole pear + blue cheese thing. It sounded good, but to me it tasted a little funky—like salty and sweet fighting. Might try again with less cheese.

    1. User avatar erma.wunsch53 says:

      5 stars
Pear + blue cheese is one of my favorites 😅 but yeah, too much cheese makes it taste weird. Next time maybe add only half the blue cheese and let the balsamic do more of the balancing.

    2. User avatar Lucien Torp says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean—blue cheese can be super funky. I’ve found that using a milder gorgonzola (or even just less of it) helps a lot with the sweet-salty clash.

  62. User avatar merle.lemke1993 says:

    4 stars
Made it for lunch and it was honestly great. I used Gorgonzola and it was a little stronger than expected, but still delicious.

  63. 4 stars
If you like bleu cheese, you’ll love this! Just make sure your pears are ripe. Yum!

    1. 2 stars
Bleu cheese is like moldy cheese, right? Not for me. How can you eat that?!

  64. 4 stars
I didn’t have walnuts so I used peanuts and it was still good. But not as fancy, lol.

  65. 3 stars
Not bad, but the blue cheese was a bit too strong for my taste. Maybe use feta next time?

  66. 4 stars
The recipe is simple, but I wish it said what kind of mixed greens to use. I used spinach and it worked, yet I think arugula would’ve been better.

  67. 5 stars
This looks like a fancy salad, but it was so easy to make! My friends loved it!

    1. 2 stars
A fancy salad? It looks pretty basic to me… but whatever floats your boat!

    2. 5 stars
That sounds delish! I need to try this for my next dinner party!

  68. User avatar anibal.leannon says:

    4 stars
I liked it, but the blue cheese was a bit overpowering for me. Next time I’ll use slightly less and add extra pear to balance it out.

  69. 5 stars
This is such a refreshing combo—sweet pear with the sharp blue cheese is perfect. I used Gorgonzola once and it worked great too.

  70. User avatar omer.kohler says:

    4 stars
Not big on blue cheese, so I used feta. Still turned out pretty good!

    1. 5 stars
Feta is a great substitution! I love mixing it up with different cheeses in salads.

  71. 4 stars
I was worried the walnuts would overpower it, but toasting them really helped. Next time I might add a tiny pinch of salt though.

  72. User avatar Emmaline Heidenreich MD says:

    5 stars
I used Gorgonzola instead and it was great, not too funky. The balsamic vinaigrette ties it all together. Super easy for a weeknight.

  73. User avatar garrett.witting99 says:

    4 stars
Gorgonzola substitution worked great! The flavor was a little creamier and not as sharp. Easy salad for weeknights.

  74. User avatar carlyn.kassulke53 says:

I tried this and my husband hated it. He said it looked like rabbit food. LOL. Well, I thought it was tasty!

    1. User avatar elza.bruen says:

      4 stars
Aww, I’m sorry your husband didn’t like it! But at least you enjoyed it! That’s what matters, right?

    2. User avatar Draugr Deathlord says:

      3 stars

  76. User avatar goldie.kling says:

  77. 5 stars
This salad is absolutely divine! The flavors blend so well. I’m definitely making it again.

  78. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    4 stars
Pretty simple and fresh. The walnuts add a nice crunch. Next time I’ll slice the pear a bit thinner so it mixes more with the greens.

  79. User avatar rocky.littel1991 says:

    2 stars
Too simple for my taste. I like my salads to have more ingredients!

  80. User avatar Theresa Green says:

Loved it! Swapped walnuts for pecans ’cause that’s what I had. Still tasted great!

    1. User avatar robby.langworth says:

      5 stars
Pecans are a great swap! I love using what I have on hand too. Glad it turned out well for you! 👏

  81. User avatar fidel.rau64 says:

    5 stars
Yum! This salad is fancy enough for guests but easy to throw together. Love it!

  82. 5 stars
Pear salad? Weirdly good. I thought the sweetness would clash, but it balances the salty cheese really well. Thumbs up!

  83. User avatar francesco.predovic45 says:

    2 stars
My kids wouldn’t eat this. Too fancy for them. 😒

    1. User avatar Dan Streetmentioner says:

      4 stars
I totally get it! Kids can be super picky. Maybe try adding some apples instead? They might like that more!

  84. User avatar Rito Chieftain says:

    3 stars
Never use walnuts, always pecans for me. Still tasted good, tho.

  85. User avatar valentin.leannon33 says:

    5 stars
Simple and honestly pretty fancy for how quick it is. The walnuts add a nice crunch that makes it feel complete.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—those walnuts are the magic. The crunch makes the whole salad feel way more “restaurant” than it should for something this quick.

    2. User avatar karoline.rosenbaum says:

      4 stars
I tried it and yeah it’s pretty good, but I accidentally used regular vinegar once and it tasted kinda flat. Still, the pear + blue cheese combo is solid. Maybe add a tiny pinch of salt?

  86. User avatar wendell.little2003 says:

    3 stars
I didn’t have walnuts, so I used sliced almonds and… it kinda worked? The texture was good, but flavor was different.

  87. 3 stars
Not sure about the blue cheese though. I like cheese, but it was kind of strong even with the balsamic. Might try less next time.

  88. User avatar nellie.prohaska65 says:

    2 stars
Blue cheese tastes like fridge funk 😅 but I know it’s “a thing.” The walnuts helped though. I can see why people like it.

    1. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      5 stars
Lol “fridge funk” is so real 😅 I used to be unsure too, but once you balance it with sweet pear + crunchy walnuts it totally clicks.

  89. 3 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly, but mine came out kind of bitter? Maybe my vinaigrette was too strong. Still okay though, just not my favorite.

  90. User avatar brigitte.lakin2019 says:

    4 stars
So quick! I made it for lunch and ate it all before it even cooled. The greens stayed crisp and the pear was juicy.

    1. User avatar corrinne.raynor says:

      5 stars
Love that you ate it right away—crispy greens + juicy pear sounds perfect. 😋 I always worry pear salads get soggy, but your results are making me try it sooner!

  91. User avatar tad.jones76 says:

    2 stars
Super simple! But do we really need that fancy blue cheese? Just more money for cheese…

  92. User avatar Emerald Littel says:

    3 stars
Got my pear not ripe enough i guess—hard and kinda crunchy. Other than that it was good. Maybe buy softer fruit next time.

  93. 1 star
Salad? More like a weak excuse for a meal, am I right?

    1. User avatar blair.ankunding says:

      3 stars
Nah, salads are great! It’s all about how you make ’em. This one’s fancy tho, what’s wrong with a pear salad?

    2. 4 stars
I think salads can be a full meal if you add enough toppings! This sounds delicious with the pears and blue cheese.

  94. User avatar claretha.ward17 says:

    3 stars
I followed the steps exactly but my greens ended up a bit soggy after adding the vinaigrette. Should I dress right before eating?

  95. 5 stars
This salad is amazing! The mix of flavors is just perfect, especially the blue cheese with the pear. Will def make again!

Could be better. Walnuts are a bit too hard and the sweetness of the pear with the cheese is weird.

    1. User avatar ria.luettgen says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! The walnuts can be pretty tough. Maybe try using softer nuts like pecans next time. The sweetness of the pear and blue cheese is an acquired taste for sure!

  97. User avatar fiona.streich3 says:

    5 stars
The instructions are super straightforward—couldn’t mess it up. I’m not a cooking person and I managed it. The only thing I changed was adding a pinch of pepper.

    1. 4 stars
I tried it but my vinaigrette was too sweet, so I ended up using a little less. Still tasted good tho. Simple is right.

    2. 5 stars
Honestly this is the kind of recipe I like—no stress. I also added pepper and it totally works with the blue cheese.

  98. 2 stars
I don’t get why people like blue cheese. It tastes moldy to me. I made it without the cheese.

  99. User avatar Zaphod Beeblebrox says:

    1 star
Why would you put blue cheese on pears? They don’t go together at all! I’m sticking with my ranch dressing.

  100. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    4 stars
Very nice! I added cranberries and it was even better! Will recommend to friends!!

  101. User avatar renae.skiles says:

    4 stars
I didn’t have walnuts so I used toasted pecans—still great. Also I forgot to drizzle the vinaigrette right before serving and it got kinda heavy, so timing matters.

  102. User avatar jared.lang1970 says:

    5 stars
Tried it with Gorgonzola like you suggested—so good. I added an extra pinch of black pepper and it totally popped.

  103. User avatar verline.corwin says:

    3 stars
It looked good, but I found it too bitter with the blue cheese. I prefer goat cheese instead.

    1. User avatar joeann.kreiger1994 says:

      4 stars
I get that! Blue cheese can be an acquired taste. Goat cheese would be great too! Just a lil’ less pungent.

    2. User avatar liberal.hero says:

      2 stars
No way, blue cheese is the best! How can you not love it? 😱

  104. User avatar jimmie.kulas57 says:

    2 stars
Honestly? It tasted like a “store salad kit” but with better cheese. Not sure I’d pay the effort again.

  105. User avatar manual.trantow says:

    5 stars
OMG, the walnuts take it to the next level! Salad is way better when you add some crunch.

  106. 4 stars
I made it for lunch and it was good, but I think I was a little heavy-handed with the blue cheese. Next time I’ll go lighter.

  107. User avatar werner.halvorson14 says:

    4 stars
I used Gorgonzola like you suggested and it was great. However, chopping the walnuts small is key, or you get random big bites lol.

  108. User avatar delmer.mertz16 says:

    3 stars
I tried this with a really ripe pear and it got watery fast. Suggestion: slice pears right before serving.

    1. User avatar joyce.kuvalis96 says:

      5 stars
Oh yeah, ripe pears can turn watery quick. Slicing right before serving is a great fix—this salad seems best when everything stays fresh and dry. I’ll try that next time!

  109. User avatar tamar.gleichner36 says:

    4 stars
Quick and easy! Perfect for a lunch. Never thought of mixing cheese and fruit like that!

  110. User avatar devon.sipes says:

    5 stars
Blue cheese and pears are a match made in heaven. I added a few dried cranberries and it was even better. Would absolutely make again.

    1. User avatar israel.gaylord says:

      5 stars
Omg yes—blue cheese + pears is such a great combo. Dried cranberries sound perfect for that little sweet/tart pop. 😋 I’m definitely trying that next time!

  111. User avatar brad.kerluke says:

    5 stars
This was surprisingly fancy for something so simple. The sweet pear + salty blue cheese combo is perfect. I used a homemade balsamic vinaigrette and it really popped.

  112. User avatar jerrell.weissnat58 says:

    3 stars
Looks a bit fancy for my tastes, but I guess it’s fine. Not too filling tho.

  113. User avatar Frost Troll says:

    5 stars
    Yum! I love it! 😍

    1. 5 stars
This salad is amazing! I love the combination of flavors. Perfect for a light lunch. 🌟

    2. User avatar Magrathean sperm whale says:

      3 stars
Looks good, but blue cheese is too strong for me. Would feta work instead?

  114. 4 stars
Really good! I was nervous the blue cheese would be too strong, but it balanced out with the pear. Toasting the walnuts made a big difference.

  115. 4 stars
    Yummy

  116. User avatar cleo.marquardt41 says:

    4 stars
Can you use canned pears? Because I forgot to buy fresh ones. Help!

    1. User avatar caleb.willms2011 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, you can use canned pears! Just make sure to drain them well and maybe cut them into smaller pieces if they’re too big. Should work just fine! 🙂

  117. 5 stars
This was surprisingly good—sweet pear + salty blue cheese is such a solid combo. I used gorgonzola and the dressing really tied it together.

  118. User avatar Leto II Atreides says:

    5 stars
This is such a clean, fresh combo—sweet pear + tangy blue cheese is perfect. The walnuts really make it feel “finished.”

    1. User avatar yuette.cummings64 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The pear + blue cheese combo is such a good balance, and the walnuts add that perfect crunch.

  119. User avatar marcelo.dubuque24 says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and it still tasted kinda bland? Maybe my vinaigrette was too sweet. Adding a tiny pinch of salt helped though.

  120. User avatar levi.waters says:

    4 stars
Honestly super easy. I didn’t have mixed greens so I used whatever I had (spinach and arugula) and it worked fine. The walnuts gave it a nice crunch.

  121. User avatar devin.kuhlman says:

    4 stars
    Looks great.

  122. User avatar norris.morissette45 says:

    3 stars
Not a fan of blue cheese at all, so I swapped it for feta. Tasted fine, but it’s not the same vibe.

    1. 4 stars
Totally get that—blue cheese is pretty divisive. Feta makes it milder, so yeah, different vibe, but still tasty. If you want it closer to blue cheese, you could try a sharper gorgonzola or even a little extra balsamic to balance it.

  123. User avatar van.kuhlman says:

    5 stars
Wowzers! Easy to make and looks fancy! Will impress my dinner guests for sure. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  124. User avatar katelin.ferry79 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but my walnuts burned because I blinked and walked away 😅. Also I had to add a tiny splash of extra vinaigrette to get the flavors to pop.

  125. User avatar phil.gusikowski1955 says:

    5 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly, and the walnuts made it feel restaurant-level. Would make again.

  126. 4 stars
Great flavor balance. If you’re watching salt, maybe use less cheese or a milder blue. Still super tasty though.

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—this one has a nice balance. I’ve actually swapped in a milder gorgonzola sometimes and it’s still got that tang without being too salty. Great tip!

  127. 2 stars
Easy to follow, but the balsamic was too strong for my taste. Maybe use less next time.

  128. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    4 stars
I’m not usually a blue cheese person, but I swapped in Gorgonzola like the recipe suggests and it was still strong (in a good way). The greens stayed crisp.

  129. User avatar Ma'randru-jo says:

    5 stars
This salad is amazing! The blue cheese pairs perfectly with the pear. My whole family loved it!

  130. User avatar ingeborg.stroman says:

    4 stars
Okay but why does the dressing always pool at the bottom for me? Next time I’ll toss the greens first I guess.

  131. User avatar sal.krajcik10 says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure about mixing pears and blue cheese. It was okay, but it tasted kinda strong to me—like… too salty? Would probably reduce the blue cheese.

  132. User avatar ulysses.pfannerstill says:

    3 stars
Not sure about pears in salad… I feel like it’s gonna be too sweet? But I’ll give it a shot with less vinaigrette. If it works, I owe you.

  133. 4 stars
The balsamic vinaigrette totally ties it together. My only gripe is I wish there was a little more dressing—otherwise it’s a bit dry when you’re eating it slowly.

  134. User avatar domenic.bins2020 says:

    2 stars
I tried Gorgonzola instead and it came out kinda bitter? Like, I might’ve over-toasted the walnuts. Still edible though, just not my favorite.

    1. User avatar Darla Crooks says:

      3 stars
Bitter usually means somethin got browned too far. I’d say lower the toast time or pan them less, and also make sure the balsamic isn’t too strong. Still, at least it was edible 😅

    2. User avatar beau.kirlin10 says:

      4 stars
Oh no, that makes sense—Gorgonzola can go bitter if it’s a little too sharp and the walnuts get too dark. Next time, toast the walnuts just until fragrant (like 3–5 min) and maybe use a milder blue or reduce how much cheese you add.

  135. User avatar mariel.mckenzie2001 says:

    2 stars
Not convinced. Pear + blue cheese sounds like something you’d get at a fancy cafe, not a real salad. I mean… it tastes fine, but I wouldn’t crave it.

  136. User avatar virgil.hoeger54 says:

    5 stars
This turned out way better than I expected—sweet pear + salty blue cheese is such a good combo. I used a little extra balsamic and it was perfect.

  137. User avatar johnny.lowe38 says:

    2 stars
I dunno, I think I like ranch dressing better. LOL. Just my two cents.

  138. User avatar leonard.leuschke66 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but the blue cheese was overpowering for me. I’ll use less next time or try a milder cheese.

    1. User avatar danilo.lebsack says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—blue cheese can be loud. I’ve started using half the amount and it’s way more balanced. Sometimes I mix in a little feta too.

    2. User avatar buford.harvey4 says:

      3 stars
I dunno, I kinda like it stronger 😅 But yeah, less blue cheese seems smart. Maybe swap the balsamic too if it’s clashing? Mine always tastes sweet anyway.

  139. User avatar trinity.rau48 says:

    3 stars
Could use a little more dressing or maybe a squeeze of lemon? Mine tasted slightly flat, but I loved the textures.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—mine was a bit flat too. I added a little extra vinaigrette and a squeeze of lemon and it popped right away. The textures with the walnuts + blue cheese are the best part!

  140. User avatar filiberto.stoltenberg says:

    5 stars
Wow, this looks super fresh and fancy for basically no effort. The balsamic + blue cheese combo is always a win.

  141. User avatar Sharen Daniel says:

    2 stars
The ratio seems too blue-cheesy. I felt like it overpowered the pear and greens.

    1. User avatar rebbeca.hudson74 says:

      3 stars
Huh, I thought it was fine, but maybe my balsamic covered it lol. I did add extra pear though. Also could be the blue cheese was stronger than expected (some brands are waay saltier).

    2. User avatar jim.cronin says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean—blue cheese can be super bold. I usually start with less (like 2–3 tbsp) and add more only if I really want it to shine. Maybe your pear was extra delicate?

  142. User avatar mariano.runolfsson says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and it turned out okay, but my pear was a little too firm so the slices felt crunchy. Still tasty though.

  143. User avatar antone.hickle24 says:

    5 stars
This salad is amazing! The pear and cheese combo is so delicious. I added some apples too!

    1. 3 stars
Really? I thought the blue cheese would be too strong. How does it taste with apples?

    2. User avatar keith.hettinger says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! The pear and blue cheese are such a great combo. Love that you added apples too, sounds yummy!

  144. 4 stars
Good and refreshing, but 1/4 cup walnuts felt a bit light—next time I’ll probably add more for crunch.

  145. User avatar rex.strosin25 says:

    3 stars
The recipe is fine but I think 2 cups greens is kinda small for me. Also I accidentally added all the balsamic at once and it was a bit too tangy—next time I’ll drizzle lightly.

    1. User avatar Nita Ortiz MD says:

      5 stars
I agree—2 cups greens felt a little skimpy to me too. I added more and it made it way more filling. Love the pear/blue cheese combo though!

    2. User avatar margo.bednar34 says:

      4 stars
If you like it more substantial, just toss in another handful or two. The balsamic can be strong; drizzling slowly is totally the right fix.

  146. User avatar pierre.christiansen44 says:

    2 stars
Blue cheese is strong… I’m not a fan. The pear helped a little, but I probably won’t repeat this.

  147. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    4 stars
Quick, easy, and fresh! Perfect for a summer day. Definitely will make again.

  148. 2 stars
Not gonna lie, I found the flavor kinda weird. Pear is nice, but the blue cheese overpowered everything. Maybe I’ll try a less salty blue next time.

  149. 5 stars
This salad is a game changer! So fresh and delicious. I added cranberries for extra sweetness. Yum!

    1. User avatar lyle.bergnaum98 says:

      5 stars
I never thought of adding cranberries! Gonna try that next time. Sounds so good!

  150. 5 stars
This is such a good sweet-salty combo. The pear plus blue cheese is honestly perfect, and the walnuts add a nice crunch. I’ll make this again for sure!

  151. 3 stars
Honestly, it was just okay. Thought it would be better. Maybe I didn’t mix it right?

  152. User avatar glinda.gorczany2 says:

    3 stars
I tried this with a more watery pear and the salad got soggy by the time we ate. Maybe let the pear ripen a bit more or slice right before serving.

  153. 5 stars
Delicious—sweet pears with salty blue cheese is such a good combo. I toasted the walnuts a little longer and they turned out perfect. Would make again!

  154. 4 stars
Easy, quick, and honestly looks fancy for basically no effort. The balsamic drizzle ties everything together.

  155. User avatar chi.schiller says:

    4 stars
    Easy salad. Fast. Delicious.

  156. User avatar marcel.moore71 says:

    4 stars
I used Gorgonzola like the recipe suggests and it was strong (in a good way). Next time I might go a little lighter on the cheese.

  157. User avatar guy.krajcik75 says:

    2 stars
Blue cheese is… not my thing. I felt like it took over the whole salad. Would be better with feta or something milder in my opinion.

  158. User avatar alphonse.klein says:

    1 star
Why is everyone obsessed with blue cheese? I used it and my salad tasted like stinky socks. Maybe my walnuts were burnt too. I won’t make again.

  159. 5 stars
Wow. Simple but wow. I swapped walnuts for pecans and it still slapped. 10/10 would make again.

  160. User avatar Pedro Waelchi says:

    2 stars
ehhhh not my favorite, I thought it would be sweet but it was kinda salty instead… my cousin liked it tho.

  161. User avatar charlene.nicolas92 says:

    5 stars
So simple but somehow feels fancy—those pear slices + blue cheese are a great combo. I used a little extra vinaigrette and it was perfect.

    1. User avatar Frost Atronach says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—pear + blue cheese is one of those “sounds weird, tastes amazing” pairings. Extra vinaigrette is the way to go!

  162. User avatar Deep Thought says:

    4 stars
Made this for lunch and it actually tasted way better than I expected. The walnuts added a nice crunch. Would recommend adding a tiny pinch of salt too.

    1. 5 stars
Glad it surprised you—in a good way! I didn’t even think about adding a pinch of salt, but I totally get it. The blue cheese can be salty already though, so I’ll try it lightly next time.

  163. 5 stars
I love salads like this. The greens stay fresh, and the balsamic really ties it together. Could also throw in some shaved apples or pomegranate for fun.

    1. User avatar San Shenlong says:

      5 stars
That sounds really good! I love adding fruit to salads, and balsamic + pear is such a classic combo. Might try a few pomegranate arils too for crunch.

  164. User avatar Yvette Barton says:

    2 stars
Meh. I dunno maybe my blue cheese was old? The flavor was weird.

    1. User avatar sonia.lueilwitz says:

      5 stars
Yeah that could be it—blue cheese can get really funky if it’s been opened too long. Next time maybe use a fresher wedge or smell it first; if it’s “off,” toss it.

    2. User avatar yuko.weissnat1951 says:

      3 stars
Wait, blue cheese old causes weird flavor? mine tastes kinda strong but good tho… also i used gorgonzola and it was better. maybe you over-toasted the walnuts? they can make it bitter.

  165. 2 stars
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t get why people put blue cheese in everything. The flavor overpowered the greens for me.

  166. User avatar allegra.ziemann1968 says:

    4 stars
I’m picky about blue cheese, but the sweetness of the pear balances it. I might toast the walnuts a bit longer next time for more flavor.

    1. User avatar geri.turner says:

      3 stars
Blue cheese is… not my thing, but I tried pear salads once and it was ok. Do you mean 2 cups greens? Also I always forget to toast walnuts—will it make a big difference?

    2. User avatar johnetta.graham1995 says:

      5 stars
Totally get being picky about blue cheese 😅 The pear + balsamic combo is such a good way to mellow it out. Toasting the walnuts longer sounds like a great upgrade—maybe just keep an eye so they don’t burn.

  167. User avatar Rosendo Reinger says:

    4 stars
“Balsamic vinaigrette” is doing all the work here lol. But I’m not mad. It’s good and fast.

  168. User avatar sang.stamm says:

    3 stars
I’m not really a fan of blue cheese, but I tried it with Gorgonzola and it was ok… I guess.

    1. User avatar buck.gleichner26 says:

      4 stars
Gorgonzola is decent! I love using it in salads. Give it another shot with a sweeter dressing, maybe honey!

    2. User avatar jae.block1973 says:

      2 stars
Blue cheese is gross!! Why would anyone eat that? But I guess it worked for you with Gorgonzola.

  169. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    4 stars
Easy and refreshing. I used Gorgonzola like the suggestion and it tasted richer. Next time I’ll toast the walnuts a bit longer for more flavor.

  170. User avatar tressie.howell says:

    4 stars
Good idea, but 2 cups greens felt like a lot for only one pear—could’ve used a bit more pear or less greens.
